this is great! Thanks. Related question: do you have a video or link to step by step diy instructions for disassembling a rusted out Jandy LAARS LX heater? It's gonna go to the scrap yard, but an enclosure was built around it so unless I get a small crane to lift it over a 6' wall, I gotta take it apart to get it out; Has to be do-able since it was built from pieces in a factory... Thanks!
It’s not difficult at all. Grab a 1/4” and 5/16 nut driver and start removing screws. The top and walls all come apart. It’s actually pretty cool and you will see the engineering involved in the design.
You can find that type of information on the propane / natural gas connection kits (bags with the yellow gas connection pipes). It tells you what size you need depending on the btu the unit calls for. Thank my later my boy!
I have an older Waterpik controller that I am trying to use with my new JXi. I replaced a LX400N that utilized two different add in boards to control my JVA valves and also a relay for the filter pump. Can I make these older boards work with the new JXi? I see JVA spots on the new circuit board but no jacks soldered in.
Waterpik is not one I’m familiar with. I can’t find anything online either. Perhaps it’s time to upgrade😊 The jandy IAquaLink system is my favorite. Easy set up and very user friendly
Best to check the installation manual. When you say fireman’s switch, are you referring to the fire roll out sensor? If so the new units have a contained flame. There is no longer an open firebox where the flames can roll out.
This one is a second stage. There is a primary at the tank and a second at the appliance. The reason is the gas from the tank to the heater is at a higher pressure. We have to step it down at the heater for the proper pressure.
Awesome work sir but Jandy is trash and they don’t stand behind their product. Had multiple watercolor lights go bad because of moisture intrusion. 3 within 4 years actually. They said, and I quote, “sorry, you’re out of warranty. It’ll be 1200 for a new one.” I also have their pumps and one of them is beginning to make a loud annoying noise. Brand new pool with all Jandy stuff. I wish I would gone with a different brand :(
Hate to hear that you’ve had a bad experience with Jandy. Most of the time their 3 year warranty usually covers any defective equipment. But your right about the lights…$$$$ We’ve had trouble with all brands on the lights. The led’s are still fairly new, and lots broke within the warranty period, but they are getting better. I say that because the repairs on them are less frequent. But when they work, beautiful!!
@@Pool-guy thank you for your reply sir. It just doesn’t make sense to pay 1200 for a light that only last a year or two. I’m sure that’s why they have such a short warranty period. After all, a pool should last way more than 3 years. Led technology is not that new at all. A big company should have figured this out already as many others have. Thank you for your time.
Excellent point, Mr Donahue. Gas sediment trap is absolutely necessary on the gas supply line on an open system, like city supplied natural gas. There can be multiple penetrations at any time, creating lots of debris in the gas lines. Most of ours are rural and on closed independent propane systems. No unexpected entries to the line reducing the need for the trap.
@@Pool-guy , there's no exception per NFPA 54 (the National code) . There is absolutely no information or studies done that your propane tank gas is any cleaner than any other gas plus if you would read your installation instruction guide you would see that a sediment trap is required. Also start using a knee pad , you'll thank me when you're in your 60s.

You make this look so easy. Good job.

Awesome...doing one of these today
How did you size for propane line i have a customer who want 2 of those but cant find information on sizing the line so it wont be undersize.
I tried calling customer service and couldn't get a hold of someone.

What type of gas regulator did you use?
Will the unit come on if remote switch is not hot up?
Hooked

Is a fireman switch not required on these new Jandy pool heaters? If it is what terminals or wires do you tie it in to?

Is the regulator at your heater a second stage or is it a combo first AND second stage?

Do you have the variflo on that heater or no?
That one does not
Was there no t&p valve installation on this heater?
Not on this one. Typically ASME will
They are required on all commercial installations

Thanks for the comments. Sounds like the The sediment trap is like a stop sign. It’s there to prevent an accident.
