Wish you could have put a pipe doctor sticker on the old york, but I guess that was the neighbors house. That tombstone is ancient, the oldest ones I've seen in person were tan. Hopefully you can get a referral when it dies👍
Didn’t know you did pool stuff would love to see more I know nothing of them really super cool to watch hvac been busy AF! in AZ weather has not been steady though jumping 90-105 ish last weeks needs to stay steady
My neighbor has that exact same tombstone condenser. I look at it all the time when I walk by and hear it humming away. I should check the manufactured date on it sometime. It has to be ancient .

I can smell that this is one of those intermittent problems and you will be back to this heater at least 2 more times this season.
One thing to keep in mind that the breaker was a GFCI breaker and if there was over about 5mA going where it shouldn't have been, that would cause the breaker to trip as well. If that HSI was shorted to ground it wouldn't take much to cause a ground fault! Know your surroundings! 👀
good point, could have been some schmutz buildup where it shouldn't have been. like what looked like a spider nest on the ignitor or some kind of buildup. it could have been bridging across to show lower resistance and grounding somehow to trip the gfci.
also a bunch of white fluff/nest blew out when it fired, making all the noise @ 9:37

I have a JXI heater , someone tried to fix the power distributor (120/240 v) twice and they kept burning it out , heater should’ve been under warranty but they touched it already, I get to the job and they took the power distribution board that was burnt from the customer heater, left wires dangling, my buddy said it kept burning out because of a faulty transformer. But might of thought to ask someone else incase . 😊

Nice video! Thanks for sharing! One of my customers just had a brand new pool built and there pool heater will not light.🤷♂️they called me but I do not work on them or know anything about pool heaters. It try’s to light but after 3-4 minutes it says ignition Failure. Any idea what it could be?
@@PipeDoctor I’m assuming it’s trying to light. I hit the pool button and it kicks on. Then when it doesn’t light it turns off. Red light flashes 3 times. Ignition lock out

@@PipeDoctor thought so, as I don’t remember seeing any pool heater advertising on local HVAC contractor sites. Obviously helps to own a pool with all the associated equipment so you know the operation like the back of your hand…👍👍
After 1 minute of watching this I already saw many things wrong with that install... #1 theres a 30A breaker on a 15-20A pump/ heater. #2 They connected the pump & heater under 1 breaker... #3 someone must have been messing with the wiring in the heater because the hot surface igniter rarely fail.
#4 its just really sloppy work for the pool guys. they didn't even bother laying a concrete pad for the equipment. mikey pipes to the rescue! you do it right
