  • The Jandy Jxi is a great heater for your swimming pool or your clients. I tired to find one thing wrong that I didn’t like about it. But truth be told jandy got this swimming pool heater right. Check it out for yourself do your research. The only thing I can tell you is I been working on heaters for the past 10 yrs. And I know what works and what doesn’t.

The heater does NOT come with an internal “Gas Flow Shut Off”.
But... There is a “Toggle” on/off switch on top of the gas valve, inside. I think it just turns on or off the electrical pass thru enabling or disabling gas valve operation.

Hey man! Great video! Is there an internal gas line shut off or just on the outside of the unit?

good luck with this heater! the jxi400 pro gets 2.6/5 review on amazon. My JXI400N went complete unserviceable on 3rd season(Canadian pool season June-Sept) with leaking heat exchanger. Waiting for replacement as speak. Very interesting to see if the Versaflo actually make that much difference, warranty jumps from 1(3) yrs to 5! Mine was N version without Versaflo but ordered one for the new unit. Also adding a check valve at outlet. Was the heater installed for a salt water pool?

Doesnt matter what heater you buy, heat exchangers do not fail . But the people who take care of the pools water chemistry do.

Same here but no versaflow, gonna buy a new exchanger attempt to replace and install a versaflow. chemistry was always fine this is a Jandy problem there are many people out there that have this issue. Hopefully the versaflow will help.

@@timothybolton5111 as a home owner, my Jxi260N died just last week on its 4 year in service anniversary. I test my water weekly and have a journal kept of all readings. My water chemistry is within all acceptable ranges. I'm pissed that I need to replace my unit due to a leaking heat exchanger. I'm replacing it with the Jxi260NK with the factory installed bypass, simply for the 5 years on the heat exchanger and also because I have the full automation from Jandy. Unfortunately they are backordered in Southern Ontario for 2 to 6 weeks.

@@Steeltowndubber good to know. My last hot tub heater was that mini max one and it had a catastrophic failure where water was shooting through the doors and geysering out. The house was built in 2005 and I bought it in 2019 and it was great for the first few years but what I was annoyed about was it was sitting dormant for 6 years and had to get everything revamped so i think that didn't help. Luckily my spa guy immediately ordered this heater and it was installed yesterday and seems to be working fine even though its been over 100f the past few weeks and really don't need the heater working. My spa is a in-ground massive hot tub that's the size of a small pool. Im curious to test out the water bypass feature and essentially turn off my heater since I have no need for it and just use my spa in the summertime cold to cool down.

sounds kinda like water chemistry if the exchanger fails that quickly. ive seen one fail year 1 due to chemistry....(PH). and ive also seen one rolling a very long time with no issues

Ah, sediment. Our gas company had an "oopsie" down the street, and sediment blocked the line upstream from the meter. We thought there was a problem with the meter, the gas company came and replaced it with a larger capacity meter, still not enough gas to run our hot water heater, stove, and pool heater at the same time. We eventually got the gas company to agree that there was an upstream sediment blockage, only after numerous pool heater service calls ($) and plumber calls ($$$$) to try to find the problem downstream from the meter. Lesson learned: Get the gas company out first to verify upstream flow. Fortunately, no sediment got to the Jandy JXI heater.

The Jandy JXi 400 has poor reviews on Amazon; however, some of these bad reviews may be due to a poor/improper install by the homeowner. How has the JXI unit held up for your customers? Our Pentair Mastertemp 400 just died after 10 years in a salt water pool.

What is your title? I’ve had to have the gas and electrician here so many times and now not sure why mine still doesn’t work?!? Who in our community does the entire set up like you! Would’ve been nice. The pool company just set it on the slab and walked away.

The display has a code I googled and still could not figure out what it meant-but none of the buttons work on the unit. I'm trying to figure out if it's the interface board or valve or something else. Thoughts? THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP:)

I hope that your not getting paid by Jandy, I had one installed by the professional installer along with all of the associated Jandy products. it lasted 2 years before r/r. They refused to replaced it under the warranty. Rather than fight with then I simply bought one on line an upgraded unit. One year later and it needs repair. Because it is a Jandy product and was not installed by a Jandy authorized center they will not honor their warranty. Never never never again will i buy any Jandy product...

I an replacing a LXi with a new JXI for a 16000 gal pool. Presently have a 250k unit and would like to install the 400K JXI to get the pool temp up quicker. LBI - NJ near the beach.
Question: If the gas demand is too high, can I shutdown down a heating tube or two? And Is there any special reason that 400K may be too large?
I would very much appreciate you thoughts and experience.

    • @PoolVolution
      @PoolVolution  2 роки тому

You can’t shut anything down once a 400k is installed you either have enough supply or you don’t. And if you don’t bigger gas line is required and or bigger meter/regulator.

I'm having the same problem. I haven't had time to look into it yet. My heater is connected to an automation system which controls a relay to the heater power. I suspect something is going on there for my setup. I read on the panel that the pump needs to be running, gas on, and set to highest temp setting to get started. But so many other things to deal with now, having moved into this new house...
