- Olimar is a character that has been around since Brawl, but his move set has changed a lot since his first appearance. In smash 4, a lot of his moves changed, and we also saw the introduction of flying Pikmin. With the release of Pikmin 4, we now have 3 different Pikmin missing from Olimar's lineup (Glow Pikmin, Ice Pikmin, and Rock Pikmin). In this video I break down my ideas on how I would turn Alph into an actual echo fighter instead of just a skin, and I explain how I would make each missing Pikmin work in Smash!

Have Louie and the President as alts for Olimar, while having Brittany and Charlie be alts for Alph.

Louie should be an echo fighter who gets the luigi treatment as hes much more chaotic, and hes the bug king
If you add the pikmin 4 protag, they should have oatchi and a move set mainly revolving around him, and can die like ice climbers. If that is added, bomb rock(from ground) should be replaced with a scrummy bone, which revives oatchi
I think for the alts there would be 2 of each body type, along with different suit colors matching with oatchi or moss?

I think all these moves are great and fitting, but i still believe that Louie would be better for an echo. And i always had a concept in my head that Louie's recovery could be an bumbling snitchbug, it would work the same as the winged pikmin, just visual change. And maybe when you get to the ground, the snitchbug throws you, giving damage
I think Louie fits better too! I mostly just used Alph to help visualize everything better since he was already a skin in the game, but I definitely feel like they could make any captain work
Neat idea, another pikmin rep would be cool even if it’s just an echo. If they ever did another non-echo, I could see Oatchi having the most potential for a full move set

I’ve been thinking of new Pikmin Smash reps for so long, here’s what I think would be good for an Alph Echo:
For starters, replacing the Purple and White Pikmin for Wingeds and Rocks.
Winged Pikmin will be the weakest Pikmin in the game, but they’ll cover the most area since they can fly and they do not let go of an enemy once attached. Only if they are killed or called back will they stop attacking.
Rock Pikmin will be the replacement Purples. They don’t pierce through enemies, but instead bounce off and if they hit an airborne target, it applies a meteor effect, much like how Rock Pikmin ground flying creatures in Pikmin 3. They’re also very resistant to physical attacks to mimic their immunity to crushing, but they struggle against all elements.
Instead of a Pikmin toss, Alph will use a Pikmin CHARGE. A Pikmin will run forward and tackle the enemy, latching on and pummeling them like normal. If there is multiple of a kind in a lineup, however, all of that type will come charging, applying extra damage if the attack connects.
Some flair changes would be the whistle changing to how it looks in Pikmin 3 with a light blue radius riding up instead of the rainbow, dotted radius that moves downward Olimar uses.

I want Oatchi for Smash. Neutral B can be his rush. Which when fully charged, can rush enemies and do big damage, and be pointed in 8 different directions when used in mid air. His down B would be scent which will have him smell the ground, find, and pluck pikmin, either rock, ice, or bulbmin will be plucked, each with their own attributes. Side B can B him tossing the pimmin forward in an arc, and up B can be him being grabbed by the tail by glow pikmin, and lifted upwards.
And he should have swallow be his grab, and it's should work like DK's cargo carry.
Before I watch this video, I want to say that I've always envisioned a Louie Echo Fighter as not having White and Purple Pikmin-instead having Rock and Ice Pikmin. Going further, Louie could not have Winged Pikmin and instead use Glow Pikmin for the recovery (somehow).
I'd also make Louie slightly faster while slightly weaker than Olimar (since Olimar is more experienced than Louie, while Louie is more "spry"/agile due to being younger). I'd also have Louie's Final Smash being something using the Titan Dweevil (call it "Titan Dweevil Tussle" or something); have it use the four treasures seen in the final battle to attack people or something.
Sakurai could certainly do a more "in-depth" Echo like Chrom and Ken, a "semi-clone" idea like Lucas and Wolf, or a more "basic" Echo like Daisy and Richter. Either way, any other Pikmin character is fine by me! (Also, since Alph is more unlikely to reapper in the series, I'd keep him as an alt, but then I'd *also* give Louie a Brittany alt!)
I would change the pikmin types to rock and winged. Rock pikmin can be thrown and do impact damage just like purple pikmin, but instead of just going back to alph, they would instead continue to charge and jump at the enemy and do a smaller amount of impact damage. They would also not be able to be crushed and would be immune to stab attacks (well, most stab attacks), as well as not having the same weight as purples. I would have winged pikmin cause the enemy to be lighter weight, but also prevent them from quickly falling to the ground, which can make finishers easier, and if you had winged pikmin with you, they would add on to the amount of winged pikmin that you get from up smash, which will make its duration longer and be able to carry heavier pikmin for longer.
But idk these are just my ideas.
If each costume was its own captain instead, I would pick:
Olimar: SS Dolphin
Louie: Hocotate Ship
President: Gold Hocotate Ship
Pikmin 3 captains: SS Drake
Shepherd/Collin: SS Shepherd
Player avatar: SS Beagle
(The player one could use the avatar of your Pikmin 4’s first save file and could be like the Mii characters where the announcer doesn’t say their name but it still shows up)

I mean, those ideas are really cool, only problem is that, Olimar would become obsolete, from all you said, Alph is more versatile and has more stuff put into it
I'd rather have Louie as an echo and specifically I think it'd be really funny if, sort of like how Lucina is Marth minus his mechanic, Louie was Olimar minus his mechanic. So instead of having a team of Pikmin to manage, Louie just swings and throws Pikpik Carrots, with his Pikmin Management moves on his specials being changed to suit him, probably mostly based on the sprays from P2 and the Items from P4. Swap out his Up Special for a Swooping Snitchbug, and I think you have a functional Pikminless Pikmin rep!
As for Glow Pikmin, I would rather see them and their unique mechanics on a unique Oatchi moveset (with Moss as a costume character like Alph to Olimar). Oatchi has a bunch of his own abilities like charging, biting etc to play with, and I think it'd be fun if his Pikmin lineup was all Glow Pikmin, so he can do the glow blast as well (even though he technically can't in Pikmin 4). Glow Pikmin are separate from the other Pikmin within Pikmin 4, so I think it'd be most sensible for them to be separated from the other Pikmin on the roster as well.

And for ultimate they rush forward on the dog if it hits all the Pikmin attack leaving enemies with the effects of your current Pikmin
I'd much rather have Louie in smash instead of an echo of Olimar. I think itd be interesting to see him attack in strange ways with enemies or cooking utensils
Think they should take a Lucas/Falco approach and keep it similar but with differences in what Pikmin they use.
There should also be a chance to pluck a bomb rock, and your pikmin will hold it. You might have to press 2 buttions to throw the bomb rock pikmin, but it would be a kill option, but rarer than rocks
It's a great concept, but I think that you can still make one more change
With his foward smash, maybe you could send all your pikmins foward at the same time. That would be an strong attack but also an punisheable one
Oatchi should be his own character with Moss as an alt
I honestly think that we should get a fresh rep for Pikmin instead of an echo fighter. And what better way to do that then with The avatar character from 4 with Oatchi?
The captain and the plucked Pikmin would ride on Oatchi for a zippier Pikmin commander than Olimar. They could do defensive zoning and run, but Oatchi’s speed and power make them more suited to aggressive moves more often.
The Pikmin they would use would consist of all except Blue and Glow Pikmin…
Yeah, Glow Pikmin’s spirit Bomb maneuver makes them Final Smash material. And I would personally scrap Blue Pikmin in favor of Ice Pikmin because Oatchi does all the grabs and throws himself. And since the main draw of Blues in smash for Olimar was stronger throws…. Yeah, they become kind of worthless.
I'm pretty sure any commander could just be an alt. like Alph, since most of the moveset come from the Pikmin, which are always the same.
Heck, there's more differences between the koopalings than there are between these guys.
Yeah that's why I just used Alph as an example since it would be easier to show it in game lol. I think any character would work!
Honestly, we haven't got any dogs since duck hunt, and oatchi has the ability to pluck and throw pikmin in and fight as its own fighter, I believe oatchi already pathed himself as a echo fighter.
I know that a lot of people are probably gonna disagree with me but i don't think that alph should be a echo fighter i think that louie should be a echo fighter with the president as a costume im saying that cuz well it would give a villain for the pikmin series for super smash bros i mean it will be the same as you said for alph but in my opinion his final smash should change to be a reference to his boss fight in pikmin 2 also the president's final smash could change too like cloud's final smash for half of his costumes but if i had to be honest idk about the president i olny think that he would be a nice costume cuz well in my opinion he is the second most evil person (at least as we know of) in the pikmin universe of course the number one is louie but at the same time i haven't play any of the pikmin games so idk he could just have the same final smash as louie but a lot of people would be angry cuz it wouldn't make sense also if in a future super smash bros game louie as a echo fighter and the president as a costume got in i think that louie should be in Pacman's classic mode i mean he fit's really great and also on wii fit trainer classic mode for the same reason as a reference of louie eating way much also another idea is making the echo fighter like bowser junior in the costume's where all of them are a different character but i don't think that would ever happen

Glows should be a stun that does like 10% and will have like half or 3 quarters of a shield break

It's strange to give alph ice and glow pikmin but no rock pikmin,mainly because alph is not in pikmin 4 as far as I am awere.
Louie is in pikmin 4 so he could work better with the ice and glow pikmin

Louie would be intresting as an alt fighter like how Ness and Lucas are different
Like olimar could receive a slight nerf where he loses the use of purple and white pikmin, but then Louie gets purple pikmin, white pikmin, and maybe ice pikmin to reference how Louie is the major antagonist of pikmin 4.
As for moveset changes, let Louie be a little heavier than olimar and also give him much higher weight.
Louie would actually get access to what was olimar's recovery from brawl and then also have the ability to use 5 pikmin, with purples and whites being untouched and then ice pikmin would work like how you described them. Also Louie would have a higher but shorter throw distance so it can work as a better anti air. And as for an alt costume, give Louie the president so all the pikmin 2 captains are referenced.
