Yeah, I knew Piranha Plant would stomp despite their obscurity. They're literally GIGANTIC in comparison to Olimar and has much more variety in terms of combat. That being said, The Angry Look in Olimar's eyes really made my day. He may be the Tinyest Smash Fighter Canonically, but he is far from a pushover.
But i think olimar should win they literally shrugged off the thousands upon thousands of pikmin smash brackets said and having the thousands of white and purple pikmin flying and ultra bitter spray they might bypass plants durability and they might have the advantage and please dont try to prove me wrong im just trying to tell.
The funniest part is Olimar losing after you give him a 10x strength boost from purple pikmin being counted as a normal pikmin feat, then giving the purple pikmin a 10x boost from that
It's incredible how much this animation shows how painful it is to see a Pikmin die. Easily the most heartbreaking Smash Bracket match to date, but still an amazing episode.
Olimar's Notes: "This creature appears to be a plant, but also has a carnivorous diet? I am not entirely sure what subcategory this species belongs to, but I theorize it must be a distant relative of the Grub Dog family, given the similar polka dot pattern it houses, along with its seemingly insatiable hunger. It also appears to display a level of intelligence given it used a plasmatic firearm against me during our scuffle. Further studies are required to understand this creature."
Awwww Rip Olimar I was hoping for a surprise Pikmin upset victory oh well. Guess he was just too small Still awesome animation I love the full-scale war with the pikmin. so epic. Good job guys as ever
I hope somebody can upload a version of this animation where Olimar wins at the end. If that was the case, then I would be endlessly rewatching this lol. It has such an epic buildup before piranha plant uses some laser gun he pulls out of nowhere. Olimar could survived MUlTIPLE bullets from the man-at-legs! What changed?
Granted this was likely made before Pikmin 4, but I feel like moss, rock, and ice Pikmin should be brought up (glow Pikmin are only at night, so it doesn’t reallly matter). ice Pikmin can freeze enemies upon being eaten, which would have been a huge edge for olimar, as plant doesn’t have any ice immunity, and rock Pikmin are rocks and could likely do some damage to plant. Also, the white Pikmin acid isn’t poison, it’s ACID, which isn’t toxic, it’s corrosive, and something that can burn through steel could likely burn through plant or his pipe.
Can't moss destroy pots with her dash attack? they could smash the pot or pipe piranha plant is in which would make him fall and expose his roots or something.
@@Goose_was_taken also they can just uproot it outright, there is a potted plant obstacle in pikmin 4 that you uproot, as well as flukeweeds existing in pikmin 3.
@@ritter3723piranha plant has a laser and uprooting it does nothing even with pikmin 4 buffs it’s still a stomp also piranha plant is even stronger than the analysis made him out to be some species that weren’t mentioned like bone piranha plant and munchers who are able to withstand there own fireballs and can also survive being frozen
"Limiting him to the styles in his games" But then proceeds to give a normal plant a flipping laser gun that he can use with absolute precision. And the acid spitting pikmin....that can burn through metal...have no effect. Ok buddy
Tbh Olimar could probably do extremely well if it wasn’t for his size, I see him getting to round 3 in most matchups if it wasn’t for the fact his size needs him so hard
Yeah, this is why I think Olimar and The Pikmin should be scaled to the size of average humans for VS debates. It’s too one sided against him otherwise.
@@floatingf8783 Maybe it is a little bias. But you kind of have to to give him a fighting chance. Plus, you have to admit it would be an interesting concept to ponder. Imagine something like a baseball scaled to be giant to us like it is to Olimar, then the calculation of mass to find out how heavy something like that actually is to someone like Olimar.
@@floatingf8783 It’s not cheating. It’s recontexualizing. I can’t think of many good matchups for Olimar and his army that aren’t against someone who is hundreds, if not thousands of times his own size. It’s definitely not a conventional practice in versus debates, but unless the fight is against someone who is already Olimar’s size, it’s a necessary measure to avoid the battle from being a stomp. (Literally. Just take one step and it’s over. He NEEDS to be bigger for most matchups)
While I am a biased Pikmin fan, I feel olimar should be resized to around the size of a Bulborb, or else he just can’t win anything because he’s just too small to do any real damage. It’s like bitten by a horsefly, it’s annoying but it’s not gonna do anything major
Olimar didn't actually go back a few years later, he went back immediately after getting home to pay off the debt, he didn't even get to see his family Also he didn't find purple or white Pikmin until then
@Jakejustclipedu didn't know he can make his fan canon actual canon. It's all coming back now....OLIMAR DID TAKE YEARS TO GO BACK! And and... the pikmin aren't LITERALLY IMMUNE to those elements...ONLY RESISTANT! it all makes so much sense now!
@@maximumforce8275The part where he assumed that Olimar’s heat resistance was low is especially egregious. It’s the same man that fell through the atmosphere when his ship crash landed and somehow stayed intact.
They have really under analysed Olimar, if all those Pikmin were ice pikmin, and we could use the S.S. Beagle (or dolphin) to move base it would be a piece of cake. Im definitely sure you only need like 600 ice pikmin the freeze the plant quickly, then... bring out the purple which can bend dimensions for some reason, send the plant to the water wraith! lmao. Joke aside, They gave one plant the abilities of EVERY SPECIES and gave Olimar... 4/8 Pikmin types. It may prove hard for him to win even if he did use them all but the 4/8 is a pushover and it hurts. and what abt the goofy rocket punch upgrade? his arm gets bigger than his body! And what about the line of the captains, as proven by pikmin 4 some time has passed since those 3 koipittes ppl are descendants of the ppl who saved olimar in pikmin 3. You can see ive done my research, these guys most likely have no idea who Louie is, that man ate the titan dweevil and is the 'king of bugs'. he could prob help the situation for olimar here (maybe turn and try to kill him but that normal to Olimar now). Woah, sorry for so many long comments. I need to get out of Essay Brain.
@@wiiu-theunderratedconsole7569 idek what egregious fully means but i get your point, how many times has he crashed now? (i deadass had to count on my hand XD) 2 and 1/2 (the 1/2 being in pikmin two where he loses louie but can still land) that doesnt sound like much, but who else can fall out of a spaceship into earth? he small so the fall would be very long too! Sure he was prob in force sleep mode... but that suit kept him alive and perfectly fine, since the ship was brakign it did minimal to help. watch the pik in 1 cutscene, that thing was only maing it worse for Olimar
@@3eve0nalthough that's not to say even if it's just one species of piranha plant that it'd be easy as it depends. Like the gun one might give him trouble...but it's not like he hasn't faced ones with guns before.
@@maximumforce8275 tbf I think most versions of plant would still win due to the massive stat gap, but it could definitely depend on which version of plant it is. It's less that I think Olimar should've won and more that I'm just so upset at this point with versus shows doing this sort of stuff. Both Death Battle and Smash Bracket have done it to Link, twice each, and now Smash Bracket is doing it again with Piranha plant and I'm just so done with this compositing.
@@3eve0n same here bro....like how is that fair some get "composite" and others don't? Doesn't it break your rules? What's the difference between that character and the other that's pretty much the same situation that didn't get a "composite"? Although I thought of one sole reason for this. Olimar gets his entire pikmin army while piranha plant gets a single plant but its all in one. Thing is tho....same could apply to other fighters too that don't really get "composite" versions as they are part of a big species but don't 3ven get their entire species to help. So even that point kinda falls flat. And I came up with that rebuttal to my own point which makes the most sense as a counter to mine.
I genuinely don’t know how to describe how good this video is. All the references, the accuracy, just everything. Thank you for making my favorite fighter have the best animation
"Olimar lived on Hocotate with his wife, his daughter, and his son Smolimar. No, I'm not making that up, it's real." ...It literally isn't, though. funny how you used fan renders for all three characters, too.
I knew exactly how this battle would go, but I’m at least happy that Olimar made it out alive in the post-credit scene, he has a family to get back to after all.
I hate to break it to you, that’s based off Pikmin 1s bad ending where olimar fucking dies. Basically oxygen is poisonous to olimar species, and his life support runs out in the first game, so he gets taken to the onion by the Pikmin and gets turned into a Pikmin. As shown in Pikmin 4, creatures with leaves can’t leave the planet without dying, so yeah.
@@ritter3723 Just rewatched the end scene, I didn't see the leaf on top of his head the first time lol. He's still alive though and that's all I care about.
@@Shyontheinternet99 I haven’t seen all of the episodes, sorry. I know Pit’s alive, I doubt Rosa is dead because I don’t think Robin likes to kill, and I don’t really know about Mewtwo. I’m pretty sure Wii Fit and Icies are alive. I don’t remember exactly what happened with Red but I don’t think Ness is the killing type either. Joker will not kill under basically any circumstances as far as I’m aware, same with Sonic, so Fox and Snake are safe. Lucas has been pretty relevant to the story so far, I know he didn’t die, obviously Olimar is alive, and I don’t remember what happened to Inceneroar. I’m almost certain Villager is alive. Those are all the fights that I’ve seen that I could list off the top of my head, I know I’m missing a couple like K Rool. As you can see for the most part, however, there have been pretty little deaths so far.
@@Shyontheinternet99 The issue there is, I don’t see Sephiroth making it all the way. He almost certainly going to end up in top 8 yes, but there are just other fighters that simply outclass him, my main though here being Joker, although I really don’t want this to get into a petty argument on if Sephiroth is the strongest so if you disagree then just tell me and we can both walk away like adults.
Awww man. Well, at least that fight was pretty sweet. It must have been a challenge to do a battle with such a drastic size difference, but I think you guys pulled it off pretty well! That spinning lid was an inspired choice. Also, I like that fakeout in the stinger, implying everything wasn't as bad as it looked before introducing an even bigger problem. Considering the Avengers reference, I guess you could say they exchanged a soul for a soul.
A few things: 1. I love when the plant said "It's planting time" and then planted all over those guys. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Ok for real this time: 1. How is this one of, if not the most epic video so far? 2. I loved the Avenger's theme at 10:39 was hilarious. 3. This felt like a Godzilla movie. 13/10, would reccomend.
When I heard that you were going to let Olimar use thousands of Pikmin, I was pretty sure he had it in the bag. Having 100 Pikmin makes you feel invincible, imagine 10,000 of them. I guess once you compile all the piranha plants into one, they can cover each others weaknesses and become quite the formidable opponent. It'd be interesting to see Olimar fight Pichu or Isabelle, though, something or someone that doesn't have a counter for every Pikmin type but still has the size advantage. Ain't no way a Greninja gonna beat 10,000 blue Pikmin.
The Pokémon would at least stand a decent chance with their experience, stat advantages, and crazy utility. But a non-combatant like Isabelle taking on that many Pikmin? Now that is a 'fight' I need to see!
Ah yes, the bane of every single versus situation ever. A composite character I get that Smash's Pirahnna Plant is a combination of several ones but was it REALLY necessary to add in feats and abilities from the spin off games?
The fact that I was laughing so much despite the animation being played completely straight is the mark of a really great and creative animation, the team did a wonderful job! Super fucking excited for that next time, too, Fire Emblem fans are eating good today!
Great episode, I really enjoyed it! The Pikmin Avengers shot is just about everything I’ve ever wanted without actually knowing it! I am really curious though as to how other vs shows would handle Olimar’s character, like Death battle for example since they’re a fan of math and calcs to make sense of things. I feel Purple Pikmin sending shockwaves to reach beings residing in other dimensions, Ice Pikmin being cold enough to freeze water at an instant, Rock Pikmin being shown to withstand the crushing force of the Quaggled Mireclops with ease and Glow Pikmin unable to truly die has some crazy implications for Olimar’s wider arsenal.
I think you might be able to put pirhana plant against greninja. Greninja would probably think it’s another Pokémon. And pirhana plant might have tried to snap at a frog suit.
This is a pretty good video but I feel like some of the elements you mentioned are kind of flawed. For example, you say that Piranha Plant produces fire far hotter than anything Olimar had to endure in his games by using the ice melting feat but that is just false because Olimar’s suit can withstand falling from space (or at least from the upper atmosphere) to PNF-404 intact. Additionally, the fire pinecones that Red Pikmin can use in Pikmin 4 are also immediately capable of melting solid ice on impact. I am not saying Olimar wins but he was somewhat downplayed here. (Obviously he would clap in his spaceship though)
I found there was a lot of inaccuracies, the potential of both piranha plant and the Pikmin hasnt been really shown, also the laser gun feels cheap since its not really a thing piranha plant is meant to have normally it was some kind of enemy in a mario & luigi game about aliens with high tech weapons so i dont think it should count, yellows can be thrown higher, reds do more damage, purple pikmin couldve been enough to carry the whole pot maybe and if olimar could be elevated he couldbe thrown them directly to deal high damage, every Pikmin can use bombs ever since Pikmin 3 not just yellows and spicy spray hasnt been used on the Pikmin at all It's a great animation but they got some weird ideas if you ask me, the outcome wouldve probably still be piranha plant winning obviously but things didn't seem very accurate to the source is all I'm saying (also Olimar has a daughter and a dog too which isn't important but it shows that the research wasn't entirely complete)
Olimar’s intelligence, tactical mind, and strategy with the Pikmin are highlighted but I feel like not a whole lot is shown off to represent that well. “Thousands upon thousands of Pikmin for backup” is also dismissed and not treated as a bigger deal as it should? So here’s just a few ideas of what could happen with this tactical mind and thousands upon thousands of Pikmin for backup. Olimar has stat multiplication through his spicy spray, so it’s very possible that he could multiply the calc that was given to a single purple pikmin and through sheer numbers just bypass the durability that Plant has shown by a huge margin by air dropping “thousands upon thousands” of Purple Pikmin with “thousands upon thousands of Winged Pikmin. Same situation applies to “thousands upon thousands” of Rock Pikmin and their crystal shattering feats As far as the video made me aware Plant is immune to Poison but not Acid and corrosion. Seeing as “thousands upon thousands” of White Pikmin make up the army it’s another valid win condition that is more common to happen because of the sheer numbers that are going into this fight. “Thousands upon thousands” of Yellow Pikmin could chain together and electrify Plant leaving more openings for fatal blows. “Thousands upon thousands” of Red Pikmin as you said are capable of utilizing and being immune to fire that can melt solid ice in an instant. The fire burning the leaf on a pikmin clip confuses me because what is it trying to point out? Yeah they others aren’t immune but it’s not dead dead immediately and Olimar’s whistle can shake off ill and harmful effects put on his Pikmin. The only thing I’m confused on is how the inner workings of speed go about. Shouldn’t Olimar piloting his faster than light ship allow him to react to any possible fatal hits Plant would try to get off on him? There’s just so much more to this matchup and I feel the rushed analysis doesn’t do it justice. Even Plant’s was very uninteresting to listen to and the admitting defeat that it was hard to come up with anything more to say doesn’t help at all.
If I saw a plant 180x bigger than I am move towards me at the speed of sound, I’m surrendering immediately. Note: this is coming from someone who is not a content creator, so feel free to disregard this next part. I’m glad that you guys put out an announcement trailer for the episode (it helped me know ahead of time that it was going to happen), but I think something good in addition to that is a uniform day and time you post the episodes. For example, Death Battle always releases their videos at 1:00 PM EST on Sunday/Monday. The advantage you guys have over them is that you aren’t necessarily bound by a strict schedule like their bi-weekly releases. Having a specific day and time you release the episodes would be much more convenient than only knowing it’ll drop sometime between 12:00 AM Saturday - 11:59 PM Sunday. If some finishing touches need to be added, then we will all be none the wiser if you have to push it back a week. Again, this is from someone who isn’t in the industry, so I might be wildly off base. Awesome episode, as usual.
0:23 Gonna need a source for that, bud. 1:43 A few years? More like _immediately._ He got sent back the minute he landed on Hocotate. 2:32 Do note that it was 2 purple pikmin, the heaviest in the series, launching a single white pikmin, possibly the lightest in the series. Your math is off, since you multiplied two purple pikmins' launching power by the purple pikmin's own strength multiplier. 4:24 The ship pictured doesn't have all of the features listed, as those are properties of his original ship, the SS Dolphin. What's shown is his company's rusty, run-down replacement. Not that it's relevant to how he fights, mind you, just a nitpick.
These are a few exemples showing that there was not a lot of research done for this video ngl, things were kinda thrown here and there, it still was faithful on some part and the animation was incredible but accuracy is to be desired
The fight animation felt quite limp. I understand that making plant a static foe and making some actions lack impact may have been an intended course of action, but the end result is a repetitive fight with unclear actions, scenes that last too long and overstay their welcome, as well as at times confusing and unreadable action as the camera angle changes and the scale of the view changes. Not only is it repetitive and confusing, but it also doesn't reflect the analysis in an accurate way at all. The analysis and conclusion praised Plant's variety of options, with all its unique abilities from the composition, yet it only shoots fire, bites, and uses a lazer gun (without the planet that goes with it unfortunately). It's very hard to make a plant biting look impactful, especially when its 50% of the fight. You SHOWED during the analysis that there was material to pull from, so where is it? This Piranha plant felt more empty and soulless than the one from Smash Bros - I was expecting MORE from it, not LESS. The analysis made it clear that Olimar was crafty and determined, but it also highlighted his skills as a leader when accompanied by Pikmin. Most of the meaningful damage done on Plant comes directly from his own actions rather than that of the Pikmin, and the latter half of the fight features almost no Pikmin as Olimar rides his disc through the air (in a way that is hard to follow, and making it hard to know what is going on). The choreography was really really lacking unfortunately, and I know firsthand how much potential this fight could have had, so I'm all the more disappointed. I think the analysis were fine, but I don't remember them almost at all (which isn't a good sign). I don't like how Ink mentionned how short it was and how "nothing there was to say". This self jab is more of a proof of defeat than anything. You could easily have talked about the role of the piranha plant as an ennemy in Bowser's army - trying to trap Mario by reaching him as he jumps over pipes, or described it as a sprucing wildlife in forests and greens, documentary style. You did none of this, instead just opting for generic talk and ending with "oops, nothing more to say". Quite disappointing.
The funny thing is I know why the only use a few of the plants abilities... the super under analysed Olimar. He was only able to use 5/9 types of pikmin: The ones from pikmin 1 and two and winged from 3... but what about the other ones? Rock, Ice, Glow and Bulbmin? I think its only fair that if we chalk up the plant to 'oh well it has all these different types to make each thing balanced, so we'll just take all them and let him use it' then give Olimar at least all of his pikmin types, or even Louie! hed fight that thing (only bc he wants to cook it but don't judge) and the guys said Olimar's suit is only 'resistant to fire' so explain this, how did he fall from space so many times and be fine? Yes that only 2 and 1/2 but he is tiny so imagine how long that fall would have been and then Olimar is perfectly fine when landing on pnf-404 with no broken bones or anything, no one else can do that (no proof they can at least). They gave the plant all the abilities under sun and gave Olimar... half his pikmin and no lore items (im saying like the rocket punch thing). He needs to have stuff from all the game and a rematch against a smaller opponent if he nots getting anything else. to make it kinda canon.... at least give him Moss (his dog on pnf 404) and make him Leafling Olimar (all red and furry and obsessed with dandori (strategy, organizing and most efficient way of life). Only then could he take the plant on again. The pikmin 4 hype finna get alot more angry comments about this... prep yourselves smash bracket and sorry for any eye strains!
@@cassandrablaze-thesequal I think it's fair on them for not using any material from Pikmin 4 - I know firsthand that this was being researched long ago already, long before Pikmin4 had even its first real trailer. I don't think they would have had enough time to include 4 content after the research concluded a month or more ago. I do agree that the amount of Pikmin and abilities used might be limited though. The script definitely took a big hit - and to be entirely honest, I think even with the smaller amount of abilities Olimar used, there might have been enough material for a more engaging fight. It felt very repetitive overall.
💔 I didn't want either of my plant children loosing, this episode was made to break my heart. But holy hell that was an amazing fight, and hyped for how the lore progresses. Edit: Also, someone send this to Arlo or other big known Pik-tubers, that would be cool. Edit # 2: Also if SkyeT. sees this you have once again knocked it out of the park with the song, it's My favorite bracket song so far, great job dude!
I never thought a battle against a piranha plant would be THIS EPIC. This is my favorite episode just cuz of how wacky and funny this matchup looks from an outsider looking in
This was a pretty epic fight for such a small scale combatant like Olimar. One of the best of fights in the series. Good job everyone on the team!!! Really loved how despite how one sided this match is the fight animation did get me to second guess near the end.
Super well done, like the analysis, the fight was amazingly over the top and was a blast to watch. Even if the matchup was as thematically fitting as it was one sided, I'm really glad that you guys covered this. 😄
I love that the thumbnail literally spoils the result. READ THE REST IF YOU WANT BUT THERE'S SPOILERS I figured Olimar would win because they're an experienced fighter who's fought big monsters and enemies before, right?
Piranha plant: Ok im looking at the script, i win but...if you are a lot weaker than me..why i dont just eat you? Olimar: Plot armor, also im sure im the favorite Piranha plant: fair enough
If Plant’s allowed to be composited from other sources then the items from Dandori and Bingo Battles sound like fair game which means constant lightning strikes, rock falls, smoke bombs, and warps which is kinda funny to imagine lmao
Smash Bracket: Describing the Hocotate freight ship as Olimar's ship while explaining the Nova blaster and massage machine The S.S Dolphin: 😐 Also seemed pretty balanced until Piranha plant somehow survived an exploding mountain of bomb rocks directly to the head and then pulling out a gun
I think you need to rethink your calculations... Purple Pikmin weigh 10x that of a normal Pikmin, and Olimar can lift and throw Purple Pikmin at blinding fast speeds with EASE. He's way stronger than he looks.
@@deroynwaokike4512 also white pikmin are immune to poison, since there are poison-spitting piranha plant. So both fire and poison are no longer a treath
@@ZombieChicken1310it still has a GIANT mouth, and a STUPID speed and range edge, and the spit from regular biting alone would be dangerous to the pikmin.
Gotta say, you didn't have to go this hard in the animation department, honestly. But you did... Like, it wasn't necessary to showcase such immense skill in the animation department, but hey, you showcased it anyways... God, why doesn't this channel have more subs and views, considering the effort that is taken in making these videos?
I went into this episode pretty neutral on who I was rooting for. But the animation made Olimar look so cool. I ended up being weirdly sad by the end 😢
I only saw two inaccuracies and I came to the characters 1. Olimar has yellow eyes (this one might not be well known but still) 2. Pikmin’s are plant…things and shown many times in the animations and in game being unable to bleed (question) with the battle go differently if moss the Glow and ice pikmin were involved?
And what about rock pikmin and other things like mines and tracking bombs and such. Olimar has so many options yet they only gave him like half. While they gave piranha plant literally everything. I don’t know it just seems unfair, like they already knew who they wanted to win and then only gave each fighter what they would need in order to get that outcome. If olimar had access to all of his options he probably could’ve won given time to strategize and think things through like he has with other opponents. Plant is just a plant, it probably can’t think and strategize like olimar can and olimar would definitely be able to capitalize off that. Being able to outsmart the piranha plant and ultimately, while battered and bruised come out on top. Plus unless the piranha plant has a ship part inside of it or was blocking the way to a ship part olimar would just run away rather than risk pikmin lives and death. He has a family and only wants to get back to them. He wouldn’t want to risk that for the chance to fight something that could kill him in a single breath unless he absolutely had to. Once that first wave of pikmin deaths happened olimar probably would have just ran away and regrouped. And if it then had a part olimar would then strategize and comeback after he thought things through. While the whole riding on top of a can lid thing was super epic it probably wasn’t the best strategical move, and he likely wouldn’t have made it if it were truly canonical and accurate to his character. Like for instance while riding the lid he is shown using a spicy spray, which makes no sense. He had no pikmin with him and it doesn’t affect himself either, olimar would’ve never wasted such a thing like that. Again showing how they didn’t properly portray olimar’s logical and strategic side. While it is still a cool fight it is heavily flawed in how they portrayed the fighters and with what they gave them. All in all, I wish they could’ve done it differently.
Even if I accept Olimar Losing, there’s tree things that Bother me: 1.the Fact it wasn’t mentioned that Puple Pikmin Can Alter gravity to the Point of literally altering Space-time and converging Dimensions. 2. No Pikmins from 3+4 except Pinks, which is Unfair considering the next Point. 3.How They Composited Species That Really aren’t compatible, mainly the Mario Rpg and The Laser gun one, as they're from Non-mainline Spin-offs(I would mention others if there are but I only know these Species to be from Spin-offs) Otherwise, nice Video.
There’s one enemy I feel literally nobody remembers that was literally the biggest final boss in the Pikmin series that was also exactly like the Pirahna Plant The Berserk Leech Hydroe, a human sized venus flytrap from Hey! Pikmin
it’s not the outcome a lot of us would have liked, but the buildup and pay off was simply spectacular. I think the problem with a lot of “VS” series, is that the characters don’t get to be characters. There just move sets. The beauty of series like this is that characters who would never get to interact, get to interact. And so far, the characters have been handles super well (even if they do sometimes die in brutal ways in the end…) It leaves me wanting more: like how the phantom thieves would react to olimar, or how snake would try to take down meta Ridley.
I fully agree, series like death battle simply look at the skills and rarely allow characters to let their character shine and that is what makes smash bracket stand out
Did not expect that result, but kudos for making such a fun battle and keeping size values intact for the fight! Also Ike vs Richter is a fantastic matchup and lines up nicely with the new Castlevania series dropping soon!
I honestly thought Olimar would win, since I forgot about Smash Bracket's rule with having composite characters remain, well, composite. I feel like Olimar could beat most species of Piranha Plant, but definitely not one with all of their powers combined.
Especially if he cant even use all the species of pikmin, being restricted from Rock, Ice and Glow Pikmin. Everyone knew the pikmin were the fighters but somethign bigger than you and more species combinuity (thats a word now) then its a death sentence. Olimar deserved chance against a weaker opponent first, i feel like hes been used a d a filler character D:
@@ultim8lifeform697 Tbh, in mario’s case what’s “canon” is extremely vague because even the mainline games are inconsistent, but I feel like series like paper mario and mario & luigi shouldn’t count because a lot of the events and characters are never mentioned outside of those games, not to mention the paper mario world is made of fucking paper so it’s self explanatory why it shouldn’t count
@@ultim8lifeform697 You could make that argument but I still feel like Nintendo considers it completely separate from the “main” mario canon judging by how they never bring any characters from those games into the vaguely canon spin-offs (sports and kart)
@@RinZDR Yeah it’s admittedly a little funky but they’re still official titles of the Mario franchise. I don’t think something necessarily needs to appear in a future mainline title to solidify its canonicity. I’d moreso be looking for something that contradicts them being canon than the other way around.
What would acctualy happen: Olimar: "A giant plant with theets that resemble a spotted bulborb!" Piranha plant mind: "Why is that person so small? Why does it have small army of mini creatures following him? As long as he does not disturb me ill just let him be." *minds it's own biusness* Olimar: "Uuuh, i guess we will just leave."
Depends on who they match him up with. Then again, a lot of the weaker characters are already being plucked off. So everyone that Plant could fight are already down lol. Maybe he can take Duck Hunt? Not entirely sure.
If Olimar had glow Pikmin things would probably be different, full elemental immunity goes wild and a massive army Glow Mob would probably be enough to stun Plant
Kinda weird they give Purple Pikmin the calc they do but then disregard “thousands upon thousands of Pikmin for backup” which would bypass Plant’s shown durability by a long shot. And by Pikmin’s nature of being all about numbers just one win condition that a single Pikmin brings to the table makes it more likely to happen because of the sheer numbers going into the fight.
I am 99.9% sure Olimar's son's name isn't Smallimar. I think the wiki editors let someone vandalize his page because they think it's funny.
That would be my favorite mistake I have ever made

Yes
Nice Easter egg
Like DK In Punch-Out (Wii)? HECK YEAH!
I mean the final boss of hey pikmin is kind of like a piranha plant only if it could fly and had three heads.
I love this fu*kin plant.
Olimar, he basically fought a Piranha Plant with poison lasers in "Hey, Pikmin!" and won.
If we're talking Smash Brothers, Piranha Plant.
The funniest part is Olimar losing after you give him a 10x strength boost from purple pikmin being counted as a normal pikmin feat, then giving the purple pikmin a 10x boost from that
Also, those were two purple pikmin, so add a 2x boost on top of that.

Easily the most heartbreaking Smash Bracket match to date, but still an amazing episode.
Man I wished There a game where Pikmin can stomp on tiny Goombas
Also I love pikmin
I imagined Olimar would name his enemy too like piranha plant got called ‘Goliath shark bulb’ or something
The "Goliath Venustrap" call me Olimar ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
(10:30) call me cruel, but I kinda expected this from piranha plant. 😐
Olimar's Notes:
"This creature appears to be a plant, but also has a carnivorous diet? I am not entirely sure what subcategory this species belongs to, but I theorize it must be a distant relative of the Grub Dog family, given the similar polka dot pattern it houses, along with its seemingly insatiable hunger. It also appears to display a level of intelligence given it used a plasmatic firearm against me during our scuffle. Further studies are required to understand this creature."
Awwww Rip Olimar I was hoping for a surprise Pikmin upset victory oh well. Guess he was just too small
Still awesome animation I love the full-scale war with the pikmin. so epic.
Good job guys as ever
15:35 Rip Olimar, You Said?
He's still alive in the end
I agree this was a nice battle
Can’t the Purple Pikmin literally warp time and space when thrown?

@@floatingf8783
Maybe it is a little bias. But you kind of have to to give him a fighting chance. Plus, you have to admit it would be an interesting concept to ponder. Imagine something like a baseball scaled to be giant to us like it is to Olimar, then the calculation of mass to find out how heavy something like that actually is to someone like Olimar.
@@floatingf8783
It’s not cheating.
@@floatingf8783Olimar just dies to everything. He doesn't ever need to be in a Vs debate
While I am a biased Pikmin fan, I feel olimar should be resized to around the size of a Bulborb, or else he just can’t win anything because he’s just too small to do any real damage. It’s like bitten by a horsefly, it’s annoying but it’s not gonna do anything major
Olimar didn't actually go back a few years later, he went back immediately after getting home to pay off the debt, he didn't even get to see his family
Also he didn't find purple or white Pikmin until then

@Jakejustclipedu didn't know he can make his fan canon actual canon. It's all coming back now....OLIMAR DID TAKE YEARS TO GO BACK! And and... the pikmin aren't LITERALLY IMMUNE to those elements...ONLY RESISTANT! it all makes so much sense now!

Joke aside, They gave one plant the abilities of EVERY SPECIES and gave Olimar... 4/8 Pikmin types. As much as I wanted Olimar to win, Plant obviously has more variety to use as it moves on to future battles
only more variety because of excessive compositing. No piranha plant would have all these things at once in canon.

He forgot to use Pokemon 4 pin in and the bulbmin
Greninja can win if he uses normal or non water type attacks
Ah yes, the bane of every single versus situation ever. A composite character
I get that Smash's Pirahnna Plant is a combination of several ones but was it REALLY necessary to add in feats and abilities from the spin off games?
I know you mentioned it in the analysis but I wasn’t prepared for Piranha Plant to pull out a gun and start shooting at Olimar.
I found there was a lot of inaccuracies, the potential of both piranha plant and the Pikmin hasnt been really shown, also the laser gun feels cheap since its not really a thing piranha plant is meant to have normally it was some kind of enemy in a mario & luigi game about aliens with high tech weapons so i dont think it should count, yellows can be thrown higher, reds do more damage, purple pikmin couldve been enough to carry the whole pot maybe and if olimar could be elevated he couldbe thrown them directly to deal high damage, every Pikmin can use bombs ever since Pikmin 3 not just yellows and spicy spray hasnt been used on the Pikmin at all
It's a great animation but they got some weird ideas if you ask me, the outcome wouldve probably still be piranha plant winning obviously but things didn't seem very accurate to the source is all I'm saying (also Olimar has a daughter and a dog too which isn't important but it shows that the research wasn't entirely complete)
Same situation applies to “thousands upon thousands” of Rock Pikmin and their crystal shattering feats
As far as the video made me aware Plant is immune to Poison but not Acid and corrosion.

I agree. To me, this fight was like Link vs Ridley where both characters were not fighting accurately to who they were.

@@floatingf8783 What makes you think he's immune?
@@floatingf8783me when purple Pikmin (they stunlock things)
This was the most depressing smash animation i've ever seen.
The Laser canon is kinda ridiculous lmao, this special alien Piranha Plant that has it is not really good representation of the entire species
Been waiting all weekend for this. Hit it out of the park!
Smack bracket today and death battle tomorrow, it’s good day to be a vs fan
I went into this episode pretty neutral on who I was rooting for. But the animation made Olimar look so cool. I ended up being weirdly sad by the end 😢
The Olimar fake out when he got spit out is by far the best thing that has happened to me and I’m not even a Pikmen fan
I have never been more on the edge of my seat, despite the power difference the battle really kept me guessing and was amazing one of my favorites
This is honestly better than Death battle, I love the logic and realism of the fights. Keep up the good work my dude
I only saw two inaccuracies and I came to the characters
1. Olimar has yellow eyes (this one might not be well known but still)
2. Pikmin’s are plant…things and shown many times in the animations and in game being unable to bleed
(question) with the battle go differently if moss the Glow and ice pikmin were involved?
what about moss?
@@floatingf8783what about the gadgets like the lightning blast or the paralyzing Pikmin carrots?
Bro imagine that ending in a pikmin game, having a quick time event to beat a huge boss, that'd go crazy
I am SO excited for Ike vs. Richter! 😃
Even if I accept Olimar Losing, there’s tree things that Bother me:
1.the Fact it wasn’t mentioned that Puple Pikmin Can Alter gravity to the Point of literally altering Space-time and converging Dimensions.
2. No Pikmins from 3+4 except Pinks, which is Unfair considering the next Point.
3.How They Composited Species That Really aren’t compatible, mainly the Mario Rpg and The Laser gun one, as they're from Non-mainline Spin-offs(I would mention others if there are but I only know these Species to be from Spin-offs)
Otherwise,nice Video.
Truely the most Attack on Titan style fight we will every get in this tournament
There’s one enemy I feel literally nobody remembers that was literally the biggest final boss in the Pikmin series that was also exactly like the Pirahna Plant
The Berserk Leech Hydroe, a human sized venus flytrap from Hey! Pikmin
Olimar in the losers bracket will get stepped on by whoever he's fighting and the animation ends.
Olimar would probably rematch piranha plant I like a piranha plant but there's no way that he's going to win this next match
However steps on Olimar is in for a world of hurt.
Ok but, if Olimar was 4'3 and his pikmin 4'0 then he'd win every single one
At least Olimar survived in the end!
10:42 is that the avengers theme?
I don't know in what universe prihana plant has a gun and can spit out VERY TINY bombs
Noone expects Piranha Planet from the Mario & Luigi series!!!
This would've been a piece of cake for Olimar if you remembered the bulbmin.
NEXT TIME SPOILERS
I like how it Baits you into thinking meta knight vs marth is next but than Ike just jumps in and takes it lmao
That animation was incredible! Great job to the team again!
Oh hey I predicted the ending correctly neat
it’s not the outcome a lot of us would have liked, but the buildup and pay off was simply spectacular. I think the problem with a lot of “VS” series, is that the characters don’t get to be characters. There just move sets.
The beauty of series like this is that characters who would never get to interact, get to interact. And so far, the characters have been handles super well (even if they do sometimes die in brutal ways in the end…)
It leaves me wanting more: like how the phantom thieves would react to olimar, or how snake would try to take down meta Ridley.
I fully agree, series like death battle simply look at the skills and rarely allow characters to let their character shine and that is what makes smash bracket stand out
Meta Ridley would kinda clap Snake without much thought. Unless I misunderstood, MGS powerscaling
PIRANHA PLAAAAAAAANNNNTTTTTTTTTT
LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
I knew my boi had it in him.
Makes me proud to see him dust bin such a pain in the rear.
PLANT GANG.
Thats only what you think would happen.
@@melvacaoyona-ollosa278 what?
@@Dr_T0X1Ci think they mean that the plant is dumb and it deserves no recognition.
I am a pirahana plant main and I think we deserves some recognition but it’s all in personal preference
@Ness-q1w Plant is one of my favorites on the roster. I can always respect a plant enthusiast.
What about the other pikmin Ice, rock, and glow?
Insane animation as always! I love the little avengers melody at 10:37 when olimar and the final pikmin assemble lmaoooo
Just found this channel, if who would *canonically* win, surely spin offs shouldn’t be taken into account?
Why wouldn’t the spin offs be canon?
@@ultim8lifeform697 Tbh, in mario’s case what’s “canon” is extremely vague because even the mainline games are inconsistent, but I feel like series like paper mario and mario & luigi shouldn’t count because a lot of the events and characters are never mentioned outside of those games, not to mention the paper mario world is made of fucking paper so it’s self explanatory why it shouldn’t count
@@RinZDR I agree with Paper Mario but Mario and Luigi doesn’t really have a reason to be separated imo
DUDE THAT ANIMATION WAS GOLD, but i wanted olimar to win 😢(maybe bc i just finished pikmin 3,idk) but WOW, AMAZING i LOVE IT
Good ending: olimar spams thunder shocks and ice rocks
What would acctualy happen:
Olimar: "A giant plant with theets that resemble a spotted bulborb!"
Piranha plant mind: "Why is that person so small? Why does it have small army of mini creatures following him? As long as he does not disturb me ill just let him be." *minds it's own biusness*
Olimar: "Uuuh, i guess we will just leave."
Plant isn’t making it far lol but I expected a ROB vs Lucina match here. Thanks for doing what you guys do!! I love this series!!
Depends on who they match him up with.
Then again, a lot of the weaker characters are already being plucked off. So everyone that Plant could fight are already down lol. Maybe he can take Duck Hunt? Not entirely sure.
1:45 he came back less than a day after
Well, looks like the villain won this fight... If nothing else, at least Olimar got to look genuinely cool for a good few minutes.
2:07 I did not want to find out that Piranha Plants are roughly the same size as a human
If Olimar had glow Pikmin things would probably be different, full elemental immunity goes wild and a massive army Glow Mob would probably be enough to stun Plant
What was said: Olimar is too small.
What was meant: Animating hundreds of characters at once is hard, not doing that next time.
Kinda weird they give Purple Pikmin the calc they do but then disregard “thousands upon thousands of Pikmin for backup” which would bypass Plant’s shown durability by a long shot. And by Pikmin’s nature of being all about numbers just one win condition that a single Pikmin brings to the table makes it more likely to happen because of the sheer numbers going into the fight.
pirhana plant doesn't have a ray gun the shroobs gave it that it's not something a plant normally has
yeah someone cant just be born with a gun
Why was this animation so good...also Rip Olimar, you did great.
Olimar did not die in the end.
Dude wtf that animation went so hard.😮
Bro, the piranha plant would've lost, piranha plants don't have RAY GUNS, like what
Olimar looks so adorable in the thumbnail lol , I’m still heart broken from that loss 😩
10/10 Big W for the animators. Also the End Game music got me lmao
