Thanks Mrs MetalHead I appreciate and glad you like it! 😊 Would be pretty cool a entire set, I’ve never tried turning a set of anything but that’s a great thought 😎
A real nice piece of Magnolia and a beautiful serving tray, Kimsey! I'm looking forward to you turning more of this wood with it's nice color and great grain! 👍 Phil
Howdy Phil! Thanks I appreciate it 😎 That guy came back over just yesterday which seems like today because it was so close to yesterday it’s a little after 2 in the morning Lol But anyway he brought some more so now I will get to try another one without the charcoal 😁 Have a good one!🤝
Love the grain on the Magnolia Kimsey and the Charcoal aged the piece to make it look 60+ years old and something that has been passed down through the family. Great video my friend. Take care Kimsey. Cheers, Huw
Howdy Huw! Thanks I appreciate it and also your thoughts on the charcoal dust 😎 It does definitely give it that aged, Glad you enjoyed the video, Have a good one buddy!🤝
Beautiful piece! I like the charcoal dust on the texturing but not so much on the front. Wonderful grain on that magnolia. Thanks for taking us along, Kimsey! I always enjoy your videos.
Thanks and thanks for your thoughts on the charcoal dust Peter I appreciate it! That guy brought me another good sized piece so I will get to try just that out on it 😎 Glad you enjoy the videos Have a good one 🤝
Magnolia is such a beautiful colour... I'd never really seen it much until watching these videos 😊 beautiful grain and awesome bowl. Another great video Kimsey 😁💙
Good afternoon, Kimsey. I haven't turned any Magnolia yet but do have two pieces. The wood looks amazing. Your piece is fantastic. The addition of the charcoal dust gave the highlights an added bonus. Very nice.
Howdy Ray! Thanks 😎 and that’s pretty cool, it’s some nice turning stuff, that guy came back today which was yesterday now because it’s 1:45 am but anyway, and thanks for your thoughts on the charcoal dust glad you liked that look, and also now i will get to try another piece without the charcoal dust 😁 I don’t know if i will turn it right away though I’ve got some other stuff rolling around in my thoughts, have a good one buddy 🤝
Glad you enjoyed the video! It’s and the music, I try my best to pick the right music tracks, sometimes I have a hard time finding some music for the videos, Thanks for your thoughts on the charcoal dust I appreciate it 😎🤝
Masterful. I would like the plate either way (with or without the charcoal) but I think I like it with better just because it gives it a worn or used vibe. I love how your videos (this one in particular) give the proper balance of instruction and inspiration for me to get out into the shop and make something. You are teaching me so much more than just woodturning. (how to practice peace) I am grateful .
Howdy Gary! This magnolia came 2 hours south from where I live, near the Atlanta area, my friend Paul has a place here in town and lives there and travels back and forth, my brother tells Paul just yesterday, that the magnolia he has seen was a lighter color, and they was talking about just that of they guessed it’s just where the tree grew, it’s my first I ever saw it though, but anyway he bought some more so I will now get to try some without the charcoal dust 😁 Take care buddy 🤝
Glad you enjoyed the video, Thanks for your feedback on the charcoal dust😎 , it was my pleasure to try it out I do like to experiment even if it doesn’t turn out the way I thought it should I just can’t keep myself from trying stuff in the finishing sometimes 😄
Howdy Scott! 😎 Thanks I appreciate it, Yep it does have a different shade to it kinda towards that color, very heavy wood though, it’s as heavy a white oak or hickory.
Thanks I appreciate it! 😎 Yep the experimenting is addictive and I find myself doing that every so often and yes it definitely doesn’t always go as planned 🤦♂️😄
Hey up Kimsey how's you getting on, we keeping well and frost free up to yet, well you asked the question and i tell the truth, we liked it natural nut that is just us liking the grain and colours etc, just not into undoing the natural beauty. Hope's you don't take offence otherwise enjoyed the video again. All the best from Lincolnshire UK
Howdy Gary I appreciate your honesty!😎 Nope I am not offended at all, I want to know people’s opinions always, ain’t had much frosting here we had a couple and then it’s like it switched back to summer time 🤷♂️😄 Took air conditioning out and now we are wishing we had it back in, strange fall weather it is, Glad you enjoyed the video, Have a good one!
My favourite wood, it turned out wonderful, i can imagine what a whole set would look like on a dining table for Christmas, that would be beautiful.

Howdy Dave! Thanks for your thoughts on the dust buddy I appreciate it!😎🤝
Really nice Kimsey. Sure nicer grain than the Magnolia I got a few years ago. But probably depends on where it grows.
See you on your next one,
Gary
