Lots and lots of holes (ceracture) YEA YEA for me that makes the project!!!! You did that piece of wood smile and really showing itsef off. Great turning. KEEP ON TURNING
Yep some crazy colors, so far they are doing good surprisingly after the stuff I did a couple ago I was a little bit worried about serious warpage but so far so good keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 still though!😄
Howdy Heather! Yep I think that was my favorite of em too, the different shades of green are something else, I was hoping to find some feathering grain since that chunk of wood had all those tree branches that had grown on it but didn’t find any at all, I was contemplating on a chunk of Black walnut for the next project 😁 It’s a piece of a walnut tree root
That is some beautiful wood Kimsey! Lots of features in those pieces for sure. Last week I was given some fresh cut RedBud and can hardly wait to turn some. I was shocked at how big they were. But that is based on the Oklahoma Red Bud we planted a few years ago. It is not supposed to get real big but the leaves are sure looking pretty. Simply amazing looking after you let them swim in that tub. Take care my friend, Gary
Howdy Gary! Thanks I appreciate it!😎 Yep I hear they ain’t supposed to get that big either but I guess it does just depend on the place as you said, I didn’t even know about the stuff until my neighbor told me about his he had and the power company cut it down couple years or so ago that had grown into the power lines, figured I would just soak it good, can’t see the grain good with all those soap suds 🫧 😄 I got crate Myrtle trees in my yard, I may have to get a Redbud tree to, Have a good one Buddy 🤝
Thanks! I appreciate it!😎🤝 It is some pretty neat wood too work with, so far it is drying well, keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that it doesn’t crack all to pieces.
Now then Mate you've been busy this time, beautiful grand markings inside before you even picked chisel up, the saw soon sorted the job out. Looking forward to the finished bowls. Looked like you'd got some lousy weather outside, we getting some late sunshine and 15 to 18 temperatures just the job for keeping the heating off. All the best from Lincolnshire UK
Howdy Gary! Yep been just a little busy 😄 Those things are drying pretty good, We didn’t have as bad weather here as other places did, We are having some cooler temperatures here also in the morning, the days are nice and warm though still, haven’t turned on our heater yet either, was 44 degrees Fahrenheit this morning, Take care buddy 🤝
Really cool sawmill, Kimsey! Nice choice of Redbud pieces you cut, too! I think every one of those is going to be a beauty when dry and finished. I will say, they looked a little iffy as you were turning them! LOL! But, you know what you are doing and they all turned out great, so far! Fun video, buddy! 😄 Phil
Thanks Phil I appreciate it!!😎 Yep they definitely were iffy looking 😅 quite a bit of rotten places in the wood, so far they are drying decent, still keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 though! Have a good one!
Howdy Peter! Thanks I appreciate it!😎 I’m glad it stayed together to i was sweating a little on that stuff 😬😄 They are drying pretty good, want be to much longer and I’ll get a finish on em to show, was my pleasure to share the process, Have a good one Buddy 🤝
It’s actually my Dad’s 😄 I worked for my dad for years we built kitchen cabinets, we sawed our own lumber also have a dry kiln, custom built cabinets and furniture fireplace mantles and stuff, Have a good one buddy 🤝
CRICKY kimsey that WOOD is as Pretty as my xwife ( and she is still pretty ) I love the fact that you brought it too life as something new and useful. 🏅🏅🏅👏👏👏 Keep the dream alive son Aussie Aussie Aussie GDAY MATE from brisbane Australia
Howdy Ernie! Yep some pretty neatO looking grain, I was sweating a little bit turning it though about it flying apart in areas 😬 Have a good one Buddy glad you enjoyed the video 😎
We have a lot of redbud trees around here but I haven't been able to snag any for turning. My wife probably wouldn't want me to cut down the one in the yard 😊.
I wouldn’t have this stuff to turn myself but a friend brought it to me, last time I got my hands on some, the tree had grown into the power lines and the power people cut that one down, If any of the trees happens to grow into the power line you may get a good excuse to have one cut down and get to turn some then! 😎 Power people cut the trees down for free if it gets in the way of the power lines. Have a good one buddy 🤝 maybe you will get to turn some soon.
Lots and lots of holes (ceracture) YEA YEA for me that makes the project!!!! You did that piece of wood smile and really showing itsef off. Great turning. KEEP ON TURNING
Thank you very much I appreciate it! Glad you like it 😎
Some pretty wild grain in those bowls Kimsey. Hopefully they cooperate while drying because they will be gorgeous if they don't warp or crack.
Yep some crazy colors, so far they are doing good surprisingly after the stuff I did a couple ago I was a little bit worried about serious warpage but so far so good keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 still though!😄
