Hey Cam i was a jobsite foreman for 20 years for a high end company and one of the flooring finish tricks we did was we sprayed (or rolled) on a couple coats high gloss clear acrylic finish then finished it with 2 coats of a matt finish. obviously we sanded and tack'd in between coats. we did the high gloss bc it is WAY more durable than the matt in protecting the wood. the matt finish was a more over pleasant finish more comfortable to walk on and high gloss shows ever imperfection in the wood grain, foot print, glossy finishes have a high up keep like white carpets or mirror walled bathrooms.
That's interesting. I wouldn't typically think that a gloss vs. matte (or any other degree of luster) would affect the durability of the finish. Manufacturers generally only add a de-lustering agent to their product; the increased concentration of this agent decreases luster proportionally, but the total proportion of the overall formula is very small. It did not make any difference when I was finishing auto bodies. Obviously, cars are not floors, and are subjected to different forces and have to meet different needs for the customers, so please take my observations with a grain of salt.
I was told to build up the base coats with high solids gloss coats, then finish with a lower solids matte/satin coat. This was supposed to give a hardwearing/durable base with a preferred (but less durable) finish

Wow. Only someone who's worked with enough different types of wood enough times would even understand you can do that to the edge of the table. You vibrate at the right frequency to understand the qualities of the wood in a very unique way. Great job! Very creative and beautiful.
This is an exceptionally beautiful table. The grain and the finish are magnificent. Not everyone has little kids, so don’t scare all potential buyers away. I have used the N3 and it gives a beautiful and strong and beautiful finish. I also did a desk with a 4 inch, live-edge slab of the base of a redwood. I did not use your finish process because it was before you uploaded it. In any case, the redwood holds up very well as a desk surface. You are THE BEST. I have learned so much from you. Thanks. You have helped me do my best finishes.
The table is actually gorgeous. I love the rusticness of it as well as it just being a wood type with such culture and wisdom behind it. Nicely done, Cam!
Gorgeous! As usual! I could find a place for this in my home for sure! My hubs would love it as well. Being a master carpenter his entire life, he has a deep deep appreciation for beautiful wood and unique pieces. If our granddaughter would come to visit, we'll put her in some eye protection and if I wear a sweater, i just won't go near it!
My heart stopped when I saw this table because it reminded me of a coffee table my granddad gave my mother before he passed on, and that coffee table was there long before I was born. Granted, there's no comparison to this and that "better, made for toddlers" table. But the pattern is absolutely gorgeous, following to see who is the lucky (or, unlucky? Haha) purchaser!

HEAD STONES. Hey Cam I’m watching a guy repair broken headstones and for some reason I thought I wonder if Cam could build one. The desire to mark a loved ones existence and reflect their life. One of a kind, unique and beautiful that will last a hundred years outside. Now! That is quest. Ya know it once was a grave was marked with a wooden cross. I’m sure this came to me because my parents grave marker is as common as a rock in a pile of gravel, I hate it, always have. One day an idea will come and I will create something that would represent the people they were, strong , smart, unique, colorful , kind, hard and soft. Leave it to say they didn’t blend! I hope this idea inspires you. Like Mrs Winchester always says, Keep building! See ya, Susan
2:21 That texture that's being unveiled is so cool looking ...mesmerizing. And the importance of a great fit is a valuable mention, even going hand in hand with "one man's garbage is another one's treasure" (and the other way around).
Hi, I am a metal fabricator, for a living and I make many tables (wood and steel) and bases for clients. I've learned the hard way that the base is just there to hold up the top. The top is the main show, "Piece de la resistance". Chairs will cover the base, a fancy base is just a distraction, as seen here. Now, I just build a flat black simple basic functional base that you don't bump your knees on.
Redwood is such beautiful wood. The nicest carving I have seen. Was a Redwood burl carved into an eight foot humpback whale. The grain made it look like it was in shallow water, and the sun was "rippling across it's back."
I've said it before (yeah, like you have any idea, you get tons of views and comments): CAM, you rock! Maybe you are not the “best woodworker” (like another comment said) but I do think you are the “best high-end table” builder guy. I learn something new from every video you make, Thank You!

I’m always surprised to see messages where people take cheap shots or offer kind of ridiculous criticisms, but I guess that’s the Internet. You do an awesome job And greatly appreciate all the time and effort you put into your videos.
I loved the table Scott designed. Looked amazing with the different colored epoxy. Talking about cool tables, I'd really loved your flame desk. The size, shape and color were amazing.
For your resin infusion, if you need a deeper infusion into the wood, try mixing your resin with MEK or a similar solvent and then applying it instead of heating. It will take more applications, but the MEK will thin it out significantly more and it'll get much deeper into the wood.
The colour of that wood is truly beautiful. I could stare at it all day (beats a lot of what's on the tv). Plus, it appears so tactile with the ridged sides, it just adds to the table's interesting appearance. I think if it was my table I would ask if the sides could be made slightly more satin looking like the top surface. At least that's how it looks on my pooter screen. Love your work as always. Btw, I would be the wrong person for this table as I have nowhere to put it, but if I lived in a huge house I would probably now own several dozen wood tables 😊
Hey Cam, Nice, I grew up in a house, where my room was paneled in Clear Redwood. My dad sided his house he built in the late 50's with Redwood, and he went through the truck load and selected the nicest pieces with heart wood/ sap wood and paneled my room walls and ceiling. I thought that every boy had a room like that growing up. Wish I could buy the table, but I hope it goes to someone who will appreciate it.
I'm glad to be witness to a man's attempts at making Mother Nature cry... tears of joy. I am sad I don't have table monies, but am happy to see it just the same :D
This table looks fantastic, but medium sized round tables are just misfit pieces of furniture. You can't eat at them, they're too big to be coffee table or a side table, you can't put them up against a wall, they're usually at an awkward height for sitting or standing, and more. They just don't seem to serve a purpose other than to put a bowl of flowers on and some family photos. Maybe as an overflow table for a big meal. But that's about it.
Yeah it’s kind of an awkward size for most uses, but I’ll bet it’s exactly what someone out there is looking for for a very specific location/use. It’s so beautiful I’m trying to think of a good use for it in my house 😂.
What a super beautiful work of art! Oh I’d love to own a table like this to present food art on! I love this video. The art, the authentic marketing, the wit! It’s just genius!
That is a pretty spiffy looking table and I wholeheartedly agree that it isn't the right fit for all homes. I appreciate you actually being willing to say that because many people wouldn't be willing to do that which is a disservice to the customer. That end texturing is really cool, I do like it.
I Love that edge and the tablebase! Awesome work. Im carpenter on my own in germany. The best thing i saw in this video was the planerblade with a wooden block on it. Simple small ideas are the best. Das werde ich mit auf jeden Fall auch mit einer Klinge von einem alten 5€ Flohmarkthobel basteln. Perfekt zum pfuschen ;)
I can attest, the 2k acrylic is pretty durable but it will scratch and ding and will not flawlessly hold up to a toddler. Or rough movers lol. I did not however have N3 Nano on top of it. I also had a bit of moisture in the wood when I did that project and that made my perfect table not stay perfect so..... Live and learn. Love your videos though!

Hes worked hard, put in the effort/time, and built something great! Good for him and love to see him rewarded for that and able to appreciate/enjoy it!
Man, I love all your tables. I just can't justify their cost at this point in my life. That said, I don't think you're overcharging, I just don't have the budget for luxuries right now. I've just bought my first home - a bit of a fixer upper to keep in budget but not so much that the repairs should break me. Maybe once I've done the repairs and updates to it and my budget has stabilized I'll be in the market. In the meantime, I'm going to continue watching your videos because you're entertaining, and window shopping is fun too sometimes.
I gotta say, this is the coolest table I have seen you make! Love the textured edge grain. I do a lot of that style too, so probably why I love this table!
That came out great! Love the surface, and the rippled edge works incredibly well. There's no way I could afford a table like this, but if I could, I would be ok with having to take the extra steps to manage its fragility.
I’m addicted to you videos. I haven’t moved from my chair in weeks, washed, shaved or used the toilet (in the conventional sense). I even get up at 3am to watch them! By the way, I love your Damascus marking knife and started ordering one for myself. However, I cancelled it when I got to the shipping costs to the U.K. ; £25 ($31)…26% of the cost of the item itself! 😢 Don’t you have carrier pigeons in the USA?
Absolutely engaged watching your work. I hope one day I'll be able to buy a table. However, just being apart of the process will be fine for now. Thank you.
Love the table, Cam, and the commentary is pure gold as usual. Since you asked, I would prefer a simpler base as the swirling lines of the base you chose detract visually from the table top (in my personal opinion; I’m sure others love it exactly as is). From a functional perspective, I think the diameter of the base at the bottom would make it difficult to use the table with chairs, which is how I would want to use it if it were mine. I would want to sit at the table in the morning drinking my tea and gazing mindlessly into the wood grain 😊. So a simple black post-style column base with feet extending out at floor level (like a typical small table in a restaurant or cafe) would be my preference.
Hi. Long time listener first time caller here. If you don’t mind me asking, what was the reasoning on heating the table and epoxy as opposed to using something thinner like a penetrating epoxy? Haven’t heard you say you read all of your comments recently, so we’ll see how this works! Love your videos, I’ve learned a ton. Also keep up the smart assin’
Makes sense. I wasn’t necessarily questioning the method (ok I guess I TECHNICALLY was..) but more so in a learning opportunity for me, not a “I know better than this guy” way.
Beautiful table, I love it and do not have a toddler, Hmm... sadly i dont got the cash for it either but I will still admire no less! thank you for your wonderful video you do great work!
Great video, great commentary… I appreciate your willingness to take on a challenging project with no firm plan in place to recover the costs incurred; we’re fortunate to be able to learn from your experiences. Thanks, as always.
I would have loved to get that table as a single guy living alone in a 1-bedroom apartment, it actually looks small enough to fit through the door and light enough to carry up to the third floor, but I don't have $8.5k to buy a table, lol. Best of luck finding the right buyer, though!
Beautiful table, Cam. I wanted to say something like, 'why not do something NOT a table with that beautiful-ass wood,' but remembered that redwood is soooo soft... almost unusably soft. Can't do reliable joinery soft. Anyway, it's beautiful in the end, and I think you're underestimating how well you hardened up that wood. Also, a toddler will ALWAYS injure themself in the worst possible way on literally anything, to include cotton balls, so I understand the prioritization of the sweaters. It's a wonder we survived as a species. Source: have had toddlers.
Cam wouldn’t have half the number of subscribers without the amusing banter! That’s a key ingredient to his success (like finishing his pieces with N3 Nano 😊).
Awesome table, it definitely gave me a new technique in ways to present the edges of a project. I also liked the homage to "Nash Bridges" and his car. I remember watching the show growing up and wanting his car. Heros and Icons channel plays reruns every Monday from 11:00 to 15:00, or at least that's what the "Guide" says.
Really cool how different wood has different properties and that humans have come to find ways to make use of them. I'm not a fan of live edges, but this brings that live edge feel into play in a clean way.
Cam, I enjoy your content. I was watching your “double boiler” method to alter the viscosity of the epoxy before you pour it and your method works. However, I know how much you love gadgets; look into a sous vide machine. The sous vide would let you hold a specific temp…plus you can then cook a nice filet prior to a reverse sear and make Scott and the wife happy and satiated. Just an idea.
Hey I watch all of the videos and I'm a massive fan! Have you ever considered making a "sample board" of differently dyed resin and how they yellow over time? Like 3 sample boards, leave one out on the sun, one near a window and one in the dark to see how they compare for future projects.
Hey Cam, next time you use HVLP, tape the plastic taught when you spray. The plastic flapping increases chances of dirt getting into your finish. You want any plastic around the surface you're spraying to be pulled tight and you don't want it to have creases (tape those too).
Cam this table is absolutely beautiful. I wish I had the money to buy this I would put it in my house for sure. Love your videos keep up the amazing work. Hope you sell it soon. Thanks for sharing
you know what? I started this video sure I'd buy this table, but by the end of it, I decided that I don't want it, so thank you for your service. and Happy Hanukkah to you and to Elana
I saw someone do the wirewheel stripping of the soft wood between the growth rings -trick on some indoor ceiling beams and I loved the look and it certainly works for tables as well. Very nice technique for a pretty result.

I like nice shit too! One of the things I love most about this dude is the nice balance he strikes between not acting like all his cool shit isnt a big deal, but also not apologizing for it either. Hes worked hard, put in the effort/time, and built something great! Good for him and love to see him rewarded for that and able to appreciate/enjoy it!
i really like this guy, humble in a way ive never seen and honest in a way you just cant fake
Brother I love ur honesty, I want to make content like u, but I ain’t got the money or time. Glad I could find someone with my humor
That came out great! Love the surface, and the rippled edge works incredibly well.
There's no way I could afford a table like this, but if I could, I would be ok with having to take the extra steps to manage its fragility.
Olá,.sou Brasileiro e espectador dos seus videos!!! Humildade nos leva bem longe, seu conteúdo se resume a isso 😊
Thank you.
Your content is incredibly entertaining to watch-easy on the eyes and ears, and truly helpful for the mind!
Cam you’re the GOAT. Bring back the denim tables please!
the denim tables were great until he sanded them down into wavy patterns. WTF. Its denim. Its not supposed to be fancy and artsy.
This stuff is harder than penetrating epoxy. Also, that stuff turns super yellow. Where this won’t.
Makes sense. I wasn’t necessarily questioning the method (ok I guess I TECHNICALLY was..) but more so in a learning opportunity for me, not a “I know better than this guy” way.
@@BiggBitt1722 no, you were definitely questioning his method. shame on you
As always, it's fun to watch your shows. I've been watching from the start and it's pretty cool to see how far you've come. Great work brother.
0:02 Wow! That texture is wild!!! beautiful!.. that's why i love wood so much.
Beautiful table, I love it and do not have a toddler, Hmm... sadly i dont got the cash for it either but I will still admire no less! thank you for your wonderful video you do great work!
That table is just awesome. When my kids move out and my house is paid for, I am so buying one of your tables if we are both alive to see that day 😂
DUDE, you had me at "Thumb Nail".... GORGEOUS table.!.!.!.!
The table looks amazing! The grain is great a well. I love the deep grooves on the edge grain!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talent!
by how he talked about the marking knife was expecting it to be 300 dollars or something. 100 sounds very fair and reasonable to me.
If I had a zillion dollars to spend on a table, I would try earnestly to convince you that I'm the right person to buy it. Absolutely gorgeous!
I love sanding, it’s my favorite part of most projects.
This table would be perfect for poker nights. Excellent work as usual. Love the videos.
The grain on that table is crazy insane! Great job
Beautiful work! I love watching cam he’s a chatter but he’s informative and sometimes funny. I really enjoy his videos and work!
OMG, I am in freaking LOVE with this table!! Now I just wish I had enough money to buy the thing. 🥺
The table looks great. God bless you. Amen Amen Amen
This is a beautiful table. I love how the edge came out.
I wish I could give it a home...
Personally Cam, nothing you said put me even remotely off this table. I loved it right from start to finish!!
Hey Cam, next time you use HVLP, tape the plastic taught when you spray. The plastic flapping increases chances of dirt getting into your finish. You want any plastic around the surface you're spraying to be pulled tight and you don't want it to have creases (tape those too).
That has to be the best negging I've ever seen because that table is awesome.
I’d love to have that as my smoking table on my back porch. Well done sir.
