He’s an amazing bassist, it’s weird how some people try to act like he was a downgrade from starr when he is a top tier bass player and he’s played bass on some of their best material jar of flies. Inez is fantastic

Yes!! Jar of Flies is a masterpiece and Nutshell's bass lines are just superb, completely evident in the entire Unplugged. And the fact that he was in Ozzy Osbourne's band before he joined AiC already tells he's an great bass player.

Jerry formed AIC when he heard Layne sing for the first time because he knew Layne's voice was the perfect vehicle for his deep, meaningful lyrics and his voice would compliment Jerry perfectly. It was obviously the best move he could have made. Jerry's voice was also great, but Layne's voice was exactly the style most of the songs needed and fit the era better. If Jerry never met Layne, the band would have never formed. At least not as AIC. Layne was in a band years earlier called Alice N' Chains, kinda like Guns N' Roses. Thank god they got rid of the cliche N' acronym from the name. 🙃

People who say Jerry or Sean didn’t stand by Layne are flat out wrong, they tried along with Layne’s mother but Layne just wouldn’t accept the help, he wanted to stay in his condo and waste away from depression and drug use

It doesn't get talked about much, because it's just more sympathy for the addict but the pain that addicts feel when they know they hurt the ones they love by doing their addict bullshit. That shit really is brutal. I know I'm killing my parents, I see it in their faces, and that hurts me. The solution is simple but very hard and everytime I do it I feel for them but still do it. Yo I didn't know that during this recording layne fucked up the song in the middle and they had to stop and start over. Also listening to the down in a hole song he fucked up the chorus Hella times too, saying losing my soul on the losing control part. I feel bad for the guy but I'm sure that played a part in him having that sorry gaze for the whole song. Still love them all. I miss this Era of rock and music in general so much. Even the r&b music was amazing. This was the last decade of genuine human emotion and innocence in music. Never again will there be wholesome and humanity in songs. Friends, people.......if your path has brought you here, in this time and place with these fantastically gifted artist...consider yourself lucky, even gifted. What we all fight is the balance between the things that cause pain and the pain itself. Me, myself...I knew I was onto something when I heard AIC's EP "Jar of Flies" the first time (1994). Immediately bought the album and listened to it over and over in the hope of drilling down to the root cause of all the feelings I had fought with, forever. The problem is you have to travel the same path repeatedly before you reach the end. At the end you come to know your actual enemy. For most people the enemy is "the hell within." If that is the case you are lucky, you can deal with yourself, you have all the mechanism in your being. They are inside. In 1993 I lost my wife. She was a perfect person, life and the disease she was born with slowly killed her. I was the lucky one, all I had to do is help her deal with it all as best I could. If you are not lucky the enemy is external, beyond your control. So, the only important thing is to identify your enemy and fight it as best you can. If the enemy is in you, you can fix it. If the enemy is outside you, well, you cannot fix it and must learn to live with the pain. If the pain wins, you will not survive. The journey you take is yours and yours alone. Please be strong, try to win.
