  • A quick video to show how you can use the EAD-10 as a drum monitor, and have independent adjustment of the kit, the click and any monitor feed you might be given on stage.
    I've found the EAD to be a life saver life. You cant always guarantee what your monitoring is going to be like, but with this, I can be sure I'll be able to hear the kit and the click as I need and if there's a monitor feed provided as well, even better!

    I love it !
    Playing around with positions i got great sounds.
    Having the Mic/Trigger right in the middle of the Bass Drum it was very bsss drum heavy. Moved it toward the nearest bass drum lug towards the right and the sound came alive.....not in the middle like suggested !
    Even not pushing the mic right up againstthe hoop was very balancedin sound.
    👌 If i can help anyone just ask no problems.

    This is incredible Simon! I've used the EAD10 in a similar way but this is much, much better! If I might be so bold to suggest maybe adding links to the types of cables/adaptors in the future because I will certainly use it from now on and would like the identical setup! THANKS!

    Great video again, thanks! One question: how and where can you separately control the band volume in the monitor mix from the drum throne?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  2 місяці тому

      Thanks Richard. In the video, the band are coming in on the XLR provided by FOH. I've got that going through a passive headphone mixer, and I can adjust the volume of the band by turning the volume control of that up or down. To get the mix correct, you have to balance the monitor feed, with the click, with the kit, which takes a couple of minutes, but once its done its pretty quick to nudge volumes up or down as required.

      It can be anything - my one is a SubZero SZ-HC1 but anything from Behringer, Fischer etc. It doesn't do anything apart from allow you to turn the band up or down and protect the EAD. My one in nothing magical.

    Great info! What is the name of that mini headphone mixer?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  2 місяці тому +1

      Its just a generic Chinese headphone amp. This one is branded SubZero and its the SZ-HC1 but there are many similar from Behringer (P2), Fischer (Mini Body Pack 2) and many others.

    I have a traps single head kit, I know I would have too alter the bass drum hoop for the mic to fit but I would love to hear what it sounds like.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  7 годин тому

      It would sound like a Traps kit but louder I guess. Traps kits dont project very far so I'm guessing the floor tom would be quite quiet but everything else should be OK. At least the bass drum has a steel hoop so you could use a Ddrum Redshot trigger for that, but how you'd mount the Sensor Unit on the bass drum would take a little more thought.

    Thanks for posting about the EAD10. Your videos are helpful for a newbie like me. I have a question. I have my EAD connected to an Avid MBOX Studio Interface by using the 1/4” L/R EAD Outputs to the 1/4” 5/6 Line Inputs on my MBOX. Does the EAD Outputs require pre amp mic inputs on the interface? Thank you again!

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  Місяць тому +1

      Hi. A few things here. No, it doesn't need mic inputs as the (mic) signal is already being processed in the EAD and the outputs are jack plugs (normal), not XLR (the 3 pin connectors found on the bottom of microphones). But also, you don't need to connect the EAD via an audio interface - it has one built in so just connect the EAD to your computer with a USB cable and find the EAD as an audio interface. Much simpler.

      @@edruminfo Thank you so much!! 👍🏻 If I connect it to my computer, how can I add both my Avid MBox Studio Interface and my EAD10 to Pro Tools so I can have a track from the EAD and the other things connected to my MBox? Thanks again!! 👍🏻

    Do you have to get the mix from the desk to turn off all the drums going into the monitor? Otherwise you'd get two lots of drums?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  2 місяці тому +1

      Some people like loads of drums(!), but yes, you're correct. I sort of assumed people wouldn't go for double drums (unless they're in a Genesis tribute act of course...)

    have you tried to run the ead just into a drum monitor coming back at you? i've never tried earbuds, anyway result was feedback, as you might think.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  2 місяці тому

      It will feedback - the microphones in the EAD Sensor will pick up the monitor - that's physics. This is an advantage of IEM - they lower the stage volume (no drum monitor) and much less likely to feedback unless you have them incredibly loud.

    Hi Simon, while I am playing and listening through my headphones, can other headphones could be plugged at the back of the module so my friend can actually listen what I am playing??

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  Місяць тому

      Not into the module. You will need a 'headphone splitter' or 'headphone distribution amp'.

    If you change the scene knob to control click tempo, how do you change scenes at all? Or do you just leave it at whatever you picked first? (In this case ARENA).

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo  12 днів тому +1

      Not quite. When you put the knob into Data mode it actually changes ANYTHING on the screen so if the Scenes are on there, it will change Scene. If you have the tempo on the screen, it will change that. It will just change whatever is on the screen, not JUST the Scene. Try it - you'll see. Its actually must better as a default position that the knob just changing the Scene.

    45 seconds?

      @edruminfo  2 місяці тому

      I knew someone would question this so I timed it. Assuming I have the case with the EAD open in front of me and the stand base I put the module on already standing, then putting the Sensor on the kick, tightening it, mounting the module, plugging the power in and connecting the two with the double cable and powering on, then yes. Perfect for when you're late to a gig!
