    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo День тому

      The reason very few do, is because there's not much to talk about (or hear). Also, on a video it is difficult to actually gauge how loud something is, so you could hear the pads being hit, but it would be impossible to tell if it were loud or not and if it would disturb your neighbours.

      You HAVE to use input 13. Its the only 3 zone input on the M12. You are probably using input 14/15 or 16/17 which would only work as mono (single zone) inputs with a 3 zone pad.

    Thanks for the video. I have a DTX10 on order and have been reading the online manual ahead of arrival. I noticed that you left the big felt washer in place on the cymbal support, but STEP 9 in the assembly manual under "Assembling the hi-hat stand" states be sure to remove the felt washer when assembling the electronic drum kit. If you leave it on, you will not get the proper playing feel. Is it best to leave this felt in place or to remove it?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 9 днів тому

      Thats because not everyone will be using it with a Yamaha hi hat stand. Some hi hat stands have a much thicker (and softer) bottom felt, which can slow the open and close response. Yamaha stands generally have a thin bottom felt and I've found it makes little difference whether it is left on or not. You might find different and prefer the feel without it, but try it and see. The bottom washer already has a neoprene bottom, so its not essential to remove the felt. As with all these things, try it and see for yourself. See what works for you.

I have my EAD connected to an Avid MBOX Studio Interface by using the 1/4” L/R EAD Outputs to the 1/4” 5/6 Line Inputs on my MBOX. Does the EAD Outputs require pre amp mic inputs on the interface? Thank you again!

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 11 днів тому

      Hi. A few things here. No, it doesn't need mic inputs as the (mic) signal is already being processed in the EAD and the outputs are jack plugs (normal), not XLR (the 3 pin connectors found on the bottom of microphones). But also, you don't need to connect the EAD via an audio interface - it has one built in so just connect the EAD to your computer with a USB cable and find the EAD as an audio interface. Much simpler.

    They're great provided you're not a lefty. Having purchased the kit and set the frame for a left handed user, I was very disappointed to find that the audio is backwards. As a lefty my hat is on my right and my floor tom on my left, yet the audio has them the other way round. This is a shame as the older, cheaper DTX4K had the ability to reverse this audio. Fine if you're right handed, but at the price it would be nice to switch the audio. As it is, all I can do is wear cheapo iems, as good iems have ear hooks designed for the right ears, as do headphones.

      Thanks Richard. In the video, the band are coming in on the XLR provided by FOH. I've got that going through a passive headphone mixer, and I can adjust the volume of the band by turning the volume control of that up or down. To get the mix correct, you have to balance the monitor feed, with the click, with the kit, which takes a couple of minutes, but once its done its pretty quick to nudge volumes up or down as required.

      It will feedback - the microphones in the EAD Sensor will pick up the monitor - that's physics. This is an advantage of IEM - they lower the stage volume (no drum monitor) and much less likely to feedback unless you have them incredibly loud.

    Is it possible to pan the audio for different pads? I play lefty so flipped the kit, but on headphones the spatial sounds are panned for a right handed kit (eg low Tom to the right but I have it left). Or I guess I could wear my headphones backwards.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 15 днів тому

      Hi. Many of the samples are stereo and already panned more one way than the other which for a left hander is a problem, as you've found out. You can not universally flip the stereo field of the whole kit, but there are 2 options. Firstly (and I know this sounds stupid but it works) wear your headphones the other way around. However, that doesn't always work, depending on the headiness or in ears. The other is to get a small mixer (more than 2 channels) with panning. Then plug in the master outputs and flip the pan with the pan controls. This is the much better option.

      Hi, while the pad will be somewhat compatible, the controller data sent from it will not. Lemon use the same foot controller information that Roland do, whereas the system that Yamaha uses is different and the two are not interchangeable. So, I'm afraid that it is not fully compatible. To make it compatible, you would have to use a Yamaha HH65 foot controller plugged into the Control socket on the back of the module, and the Lemon pad output plugged into the HiHat input on the back of the module. To me its not worth it. I'd use the Yamaha RHH135 as it is.

    Simon, DTXPROx owner who is wondering what type of mic can be plugged into the aux in port? What is that feature for? Does it work like the EAD10? Does Yamaha make a mic with the correct connector to pair with the DTXPROx? Thanks

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo Місяць тому

      Any dynamic mic (like a Shure SM57) with the correct cable (XLR to jack). The feature is for whatever you want to use it for - using the internal recorder to record rehearsals, singing, sampling your acoustic drums. I only mentioned it as being able to record audio into a drum module is a pretty rare thing. Use your imagination and come up with something really cool!

    why didn't you throw some triggers on the drums???

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo Місяць тому

      The Evans are no different from any other mesh head for triggering and there's loads of videos of people triggering through EAD. I did the video really just to show how the Evans sound through the EAD, as there is nothing else like them - between a mesh head and a normal head. All putting triggers on would do is show the samples from the EAD, and thats not why I did it - you know it triggers already, otherwise you wouldn't have suggested it!

    Hey, can you do this for cymbals as well? Or only for drums? Thanks!

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      You can do it for any sound you want, but with cymbals you'll run out of memory very quickly as they are so long, in comparison with (generally) shorter drum sounds.

    Hi, I have 3 atv toms and some CY8, CY12, CY13, KD10 roland pads and an FD9 controller, do you think if I get a dtx pro module will it work with my stuff?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      The ATV pads will work, the KD10 will work, the CY pads will work as mono or stereo (not 3 zone) but the FD9 will definitely not work.

    • @edruminfo

      No, its not, as the DTX900 does not have USB audio, and it needs to have USB Audio to work. The DTX900 is too old.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      I'm afraid not, because there are different types of pads - bar pads, main pads, external pads. What are you trying to do?

      @sogent56 2 місяці тому

      @@edruminfo I just want the pads to be more sensitive to being hit.

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      @@sogent56 OK, well you can change the type of trigger hit for all pads at once. You can set it for stick, hands or fingers. If you set it to Fingers that will be most 'sensitive' but you won't get to use the pressure sensing (as pressure sensing is turned off when using Fingers). Press Shift and Utility so you go into Trigger settings. Change the overall pad type to P04 Hand orP05 Finger and see how you get on.

    Hi Simon, How do I find and store the wav files into a kit after I've already uploaded a bunch of wav samples. 1) I only get the option of assigning wav samples to pads upon upload and then I don't get that option again. 2) When I'm searching for sounds to add to my kit, the wavs samples I uploaded don't show up. Thank you kindly for your guidance!!

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      Hi. If you have loaded them, they are in the pad, they don't need loading again, and are ready to be used on any other kit. Go to Voice. Highlight the first 2 letters (instrument type) and go up (+) until you find WV (or Wave ie, your own wave files). Then just scroll through the WV files until you find the samples you are looking for.

      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      I don't understand what you mean. You can loop any phrase or sample endlessly. You don't have to stop it to save it, but if you don't save it, and you power off, you will lose it.

    Hi sir, is the dtx8/10 made in japan?

    • @edruminfo
      @edruminfo 2 місяці тому

      Everything is designed in Japan. The modules are made in Indonesia, the wooden drum shells are made in China at the Yamaha drum factory, the hardware is made in various places (mostly Indonesia). Like almost all Japanese electronics and musical instrument companies, very little is made in Japan now, otherwise the prices would be much higher. Why do you ask?

    • @oscarmurillo8472
      @oscarmurillo8472 2 місяці тому

      @@edruminfo gotcha! And I was just curious, since the shells are handmade at the Yamaha factory, I thought maybe it was a Japanese made drum set. But I have no doubt build quality is absolutely amazing.. I know Yamaha doesn't mess around
