- The Yamaha EAD10 is a game changer! I will be doing a review and Sound check of this amazing device. The Yamaha EAD10 can be used for practice and recording and will definitely take your drumming to the next level. It's so much fun to play and has a lot of versatility. This is a drum trigger that will make your acoustic kit sound like a hybrid Acoustic/Electronic kit. Enjoy the video.
Great grove on the demo!
Thanks brutha!!!
Thanks Paul! I've got one on the way to mount on a Rims Purecussion (shell-less) kit I use around town for quick hit-&-run gigs. I love the acoustic kit the way it is, but this should be a trip! (I already mike the kit so always have a 4 channel keyboard amp along) Loved your demo groove, nice & steady sir, I could visualize the notes flashing along! 👍🏻👍🏻 ps: I'm fabricating a rim adaptor cuz I don't think that the Rims kit will work as-is to mount, but it seems do-able!:)
Cool man! Let me know how it works out with your mounting. Sounds interesting!!! Thanks for checking out the video too.
So great to see you again. Always were an inspiration for me drumming. Did you record the XYZ album letter to God? If so what tracks?
Hey Benjamin! Thanks man. I appreciate the kind words. Yes, I played on that album on all tracks except for the song Letter To God. Vinnie Appice played on that one.
Great Demo! What volume was the onboard mic set to when you recorded this video? Your sounds a lot better than in have been able to get mine sounding! Cheers!
Hmmmmmm. I’ll have to check that. I didn’t think there was an onboard mic set or any control on the bass drum module but I’m just using the settings right out of the box if that helps. Let me know if I’m missing something that your talking about and I’ll look.
It’s amazing; I’m doing my first recording on Thursday with it
Right on. Let me know how that works out for ya!
@@babaloop I’m recording a project for a performance diploma I’m doing and will synch the audio w video with iMovie on Mac for better results,; considering a close mic system could cost much more and the inconvenience of not having your own place set up, the Yamaha is a game changer as you said. The results are impressive, the quality is good enough for social media very pro sounding except not being able to mix individual channels but that’s where positioning your drums come in. Great review BTW you’ve gained a subscriber
@@jazzpianoman01 cool man and thanks for the sub. The only challenge I have is not getting the video to shake. I tried it on a smaller kit and had it setup on my hi hat side with no issues but with my double Bass kit, I seem to get that vibration in the video. If you find a good solution that works, let me know!
@@babaloop sure; I’m going to have my Canon HF 606 mounted on the left side of the kit away from the mounted mic system so I’ll let you know how I get on and if there is any shake. Hopefully the synch process goes ok
@@babaloop great video demo
Hi paul, it is a good device, it has good effects and sound, it can do various things, especially in electronic styles
Yeah, it’s really an amazing device for so many reasons. You nailed it! Thanks for watching man! You know I greatly appreciate you always. Can’t wait to meet you one day!!!
Thank you
Plug it into a mixer, use inears. Put main for inears. Perfect setup.
Im assuming you’re talking for live gigs? So, you put the Yamaha through a small mixer, maybe have the floor monitor XLR go to another channel for the rest of the band, and plug your in ears into the mixer? You don’t hear bleed into the Yamaha mic from the sound on stage? This is what a few friends told was happening to them? Is this the setup you use?
Ty Paul.I love your playing and the EAD10.I got mine about 2 wks ago and I'm in love with it.Using it tomorrow for band rehearsal for the first time so I'm curious to see how thats going to work.I'm not using triggers other than how it came.Anyway, thanks for your excellent vid.
You’re welcome my friend.
Used mine live for years with no issues. Just like conventional overhead mics, they will pick up stage noise. Using in ear monitors cures 90% of any potential issues.
Thank u
Great video. I noticed that the main EAD sensor/trigger picked up all your kick triggers perfectly. Mine doesn't work properly and you have to hit really hard for it to register. It's a common problem with a lot of other people in the EAD10 facebook groups. How do you go about it? Settings wise, or anything else that needs to be done?
I’m really not too sure about that. I’ve never had that issue before. Nobody ever mentioned anything about putting the module on the side of the bass drum instead of right on top of it so maybe that has something to do with it. I really don’t know.
Hi I have a traps single head kit I would love to hear one of these on it to hear if it would be effective there is nothing on UA-cam or anywhere else thanks 👍🏻
You should try it. I’m sure most places have a 30 day return policy but I think it would sound pretty good!
Thanks 😮
You’re Welcome!
What adaptar size are you using for the headphones?
My headphones have a mini plug so I’m using a quarter inch to mini adapter for my headphones.
Late to the party with the EAD 10. Very interested in it for recording covers. Is there an app that is compatible with amazon music as the yamaha record and share app appears to be itunes only?
I’m not too sure about that.
I have drum kit but I'm terrible at tuning if I put this Yamaha ead10 on does it matter if my tuning is bad or no?
It sort of does because you can hear a hybrid of both drums. Try watching my tuning video. Maybe that will help. It will make your drums sound better no matter what.
I've had an EAD10 for 2 years now...use it on live small club gigs and works great instead of setting up multiple mikes. I use my own speaker so I don't interfere with vocals & know what sound I'll be getting every gig. As far as tuning I would recommend a Tune-bot. Like anything it took some fiddling around with but it was a game changer for me. Could never quite get rid of those dissonant "waves" but after spending a day tuning with the Tune-bot my drums never sounded so good.
Does that have a speaker? Or do you have to buy them? Where does the sound come out? I’m so behind…I don’t understand. lol.
You have to have an external source, or just use headphones
I have 4 Tom’s up 1 down. Picks them ALL up with no probs
Yup. It’s a great piece. I practice with it every day.
2xy mics. It works GREAT for live.
I heard that the mic picks up too much of the live band. I haven’t experimented with that yet live.
Paul roknroe!!!
Hahahahaha. Oh man! I love that! Lol
the sound from the kick trigger is not at same time than when the beater hits the head, whats wrong
How can you see my beater? It’s the exact same to me
@@babaloop No im talking about an issue i have with my trigger but i solved it. Thx
@@filthewheel ahhhhh. Gotcha. My bad. Glad you solved it.
Use the effect knob
Well, it’s too late now. Was just going through all the default settings trying to keep the video short.
Use the effects button
I was just trying to keep the video short and sweet
Totally wrong on the trigger knob. That knob only affects the trigger, not the processed sound that the mics (plural) pick up.
Thanks for the note
Hmmmmmm ,just like a portable studio ....interesting
Yup
Oh? You've heard? Well. I've been using it with a Metal band. Nothing about too much leeking!
Please try it before speak about it...
It’s a live mic so any live mic will pickup anything live on stage. That’s why some drummers use plexiglass to avoid the drums bleeding into the vocal mics. I’m glad it worked out for you though. That’s awesome.
i can't Hear much the High hat,,,,,
Are you listening with headphones?
@@babaloop over all Sound is Very Good,,,most specialy the Cymbals it's Refined thats good,,,,Kick, snare,Tom also good,,,but the High hat is not Balance or defiened for pick up the Audio,,that is the issue for some other Player about this EAD10,,,,,only the High Hat issue,,,,,yes i use a Headphone
@@jungacayan7805 The issue is that the trigger is mounted on the right side of the bass drum so it’s picking up mostly from that side. If you’re able to mount it on the left side, it will pick up more of the hat.
@@babaloop can you give me an example if i put it on the left side?wher can i mount the trigger?,,u mean Left side on a Bass Drum?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i don"t have any idea
@@jungacayan7805 yeah. Mount it on the left side of the bass drum. I did this on a smaller kit that I have and heard everything really good but for this setup, I don’t have a mounted Tom so it worked out well. Just kick, snare, hat, and floor Tom.
