I happened to test drive a Tesla M3 LR RWD just today (10-25). I am a musician but the type of music I play and listen to doesn't need pumping bass as the vast majority of tunes won't have tones below the D below the 220 A, a low D on a guitar. The demo with the 9 speaker system was really nice and amazingly clean in the front seats. Another musician friend went with me and was favorably impressed. The acceleration speed in the car is actually more then I will ever need it really flies and that' s just the RWD. I was going to test drive the AWD version, but didn't need to. I ordered the LR RWD on the spot today.
Thank god for TotallyEV! Finally found a proper review of the sound system on the RWD version… The only reason I would even consider the AWD version is because of the better sound system. But in the Netherlands here, it’s actually a price difference of about 13000 euros since it’s 10000 more AND you don’t get the government subsidy of 3000. As a workaround, I'm recreating some of my playlists on Apple Music. It handles those OK. Great review! As an audiophile myself, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality of the new Tesla 3's standard system. I have the Model 3 Long Range 2024 and WOW the sound system is very good 👍. Great video Tesla really has moved forward with the new model 3 simply awesome
Well, Tesla managed to make your title less relevant. First by coming out with the Long Range RWD model and then by deleting the standard range version, at least in the US. Still an interesting review and I am quite happy with the music playback in my 2024 LR RWD. I do find it a significant improvement over the one in the 2019 SR+ that it replaced. Having been involved professionally in high end Hi-Fi for over 46 years I have never really taken car audio very seriously, however the Tesla M3 systems have been more enjoyable than any others I have heard. The quiet environment helps, especially in the Highland versions.
Ha! Well I actually look into it and according to the press release the RWD and RWD LR both still have the 9-speaker system, while the LR and P have the 17-speaker system. With that said, the wording on the website says "LR and P" have 17 speakers. So, have gone to Tesla to ask for some confirmation, thank you! And agreed, the system is surprisingly good, especially as it's fitted as standard.
After reading so many reviews that the M3 highland RWD sound system is also amazing, bought RWD a few weeks ago. love the car but the audio is really really shitty. my 2015 VW jetta has a better audio than this. There is no depth in the audio plus all the music comes from the front. Back door speakers are really basic. Major regrets not buying the LR. Any suggestion as to how to improve the audio?
Maybe you just need to get used to the new sound signature? There's plenty of quality in it, and it's far superior in comparison to many other audio systems out there. Your only way to upgrade now would be to go via an audio specialist.
@JamesJ7 can you confirm if any vocals is coming out of front door speakers? in my case, there just muffed sound with some beats, no vocals per se. i know actual vocals is coming from only dash and back door speakers. i know there is no sub-woofer, so not sure what kind of speakers are the front door ones.
Totally agree that the RWD audio is disappointing. I saw this video before buying and thought it would be ok - stereo separation is really poor and just sounds flat. Now trying to work out how to upgrade.
Still don't know how someone can think like that, but guess audio is somewhat subjective. Do wonder what you'd make of 95% of other stock systems lol...
My Model 3 Highland RWD overall sounds impressive.😊 But the audio system is only for rear passengers with twin 4-inch full-range speakers. When using media from the rear monitor, the sound will be similar to that from the TV speakers. The sound is not impressive. 😅 If there was an option to upgrade the amp and speakers like the LR model, it would definitely be better.😊
Definitely makes sense on a quality vs cost scale. In many markets the LR doesn't get a an EV subsidy, where as the RWD does. And essentially it's got exactly the same tech features and it's still a high performance car. The LR one is just even higher power / battery performance, faster charging (although 170Kwh as per the RWD is still damn fast and generally, currently, in most regions, most of the chargers you will be going to will not so often be more than 150kwh chargers), and of course the sound system. But as per this TotallyEV review, the RWD sound system is still class leading.
the LFP battery will survive 3x as many cycles if treated with same care i wonder how the range will stack up between the LFP SR and the LR after a million kms, assuming the LR survives that long
@@brenwarren2301 of course the caveat with the higher endurance LPF battery being poor performance in snowy/extremely cold weather however if you live closer to the equator or in a place that doesn't see snow then i think all things considered LPF is the better chemistry being in australia i naturally want the LPF battery but of course also want the performance of the AWD it's not an easy choice

It’s worth saying, that car had 17 speakers and a sub woofer. LR RWD
A little incorrect regarding the audio system. Suggest watching the LR audio review for more info.
Does 2024 LR AWD M3 has 17 speakers?
I thought only AWD has that?
@@TotallyEV you can see I’ve put RWD by mistake considering there isn’t a rear wheel drive long range in this variant. I test drove the long range as mentioned at the beginning of my comment, as per your article 03.01.2024
Is this Bang and Olufsen?
Engineers from, but it's a Tesla system.
Anyone here with experience in using FLAC files via USB in the Tesla? Does the audio system create a noticable difference (worth the trouble)?
It's better, quite a difference if you have the ears for it!
Can you make a review of the cheapest best electric car? I really want to buy my first electric car but I don’t know which one you choose and their economy is a problem too so and I want to know I love your videos by the way❤😅😊😊
Thank you, glad you're enjoying the content!
The cheapest would be something like the Citroen Ami, then the likes of the Smart EQ Fortwo, and then the VW e-Up/Seat Mii Electric and finally the Fiat 500e.
I was pleasantly surprised by the sound quality in the RWD
Thanks for sharing!
Love that track too! Will find it on Spotify right now
Glad you enjoyed it!
correct me if im wrong but i heard tesla poached sound engineers from b&o or h&k something like that and they did a great job
Sounds system is amazing in the Long range highland
From what I recall it was B&O!
I have the Model 3 Long Range 2024 and WOW the sound system is very good 👍. Great video Tesla really has moved forward with the new model 3 simply awesome
Glad you're enjoying it!
Hey man! Will you do a M3 HL Performance review?
Would love to, fingers crossed!
@@TotallyEV and i would love to watch that!
As confirmed by Tesla, all new model 3s get the upgraded surround sound kit with 17 speakers 🎉👍
Stock Civic with a sub? Sure, maybe for sub-bass, but nothing else lol.
Yup would be nice if there was the option to upgrade.
Getting the rwd never made any sense. Long range only
Makes plenty of sense actually!
But as per this TotallyEV review, the RWD sound system is still class leading.
the LFP battery will survive 3x as many cycles if treated with same care
i wonder how the range will stack up between the LFP SR and the LR after a million kms, assuming the LR survives that long
@@elduderino7767 yes, and there's also that point 👍
@@brenwarren2301 of course the caveat with the higher endurance LPF battery being poor performance in snowy/extremely cold weather
however if you live closer to the equator or in a place that doesn't see snow then i think all things considered LPF is the better chemistry
being in australia i naturally want the LPF battery but of course also want the performance of the AWD
it's not an easy choice

Not everyone uses iPhones. Putting in codecs just for iPhones would be moronic.
Indeed, I'm on Android.
