    < 200 wh/mi at freeway speeds is insane. We have owned two Model Ys since 2020 and my highway AVERAGE for both cars combined is 296 wh/mi. Our 2022 MYP is sitting at 272 because I dumped the 21" staggered OEM tires/wheels for some lightweight 18s squared from TSportLine. To be honest we have NEVER been in a situation where we needed AWD. We are 72 and if the weather is that bad, we stay home. So RWD here in STL will work. I'm so intrigued by this vehicle the extra 75+ miles of range is more important than 0 to 60 or 1/4 times. Great real-world review.

      That's unreal. I have a 23 m3 rwd and doing 70 mph? You're def way over 200wwh/mi! The newer EVs are just going to be leaps and bounds superior, an dless expensive, than the year before very very soon.

    Good work for your second video. I also ordered my M3 LR RWD after trying both AWD and RWD for 24 hours each. I actually did not like the subwoofer on AWD, it had a rattling sound in the car. I preferred the clean sound of RWD. Made my life easy and helped me save $5K. The acceleration in snow is lot slower with RWD compared to AWD but at no point RWD felt unsafe to drive or lacked power. The braking distance was very similar between RWD and AWD on fully snow covered parking lot.

      I'm trading the 2024 Model Y in for the 2024 Model 3 because my 90 year old mother has recently become unable to get into and out of the Y easily. The Model 3 is lower to the ground and will help tremendously. I love the Y and know that both mom and I will enjoy the 3 as much, if not more. Had traded in a 2022 Bolt EV to get the Y without the need to finance. Now doing the same thing to get the 3. Trade in on the Y was $8K more than my out of pocket cost (didn't finance the Y.) Even after a bit of depreciation on the Y, I'm paying a little under $3.5K cash for the 3 after trade in of the Y and tax incentive. Looking forward to staying in the Tesla family - Supercharging is awesome as is FSD. Side note: a number of years ago I gave mom a silver 2010 Honda Insight. We still keep it in the garage next to the Y.

    Been really jonesing for someone to talk about this, so thank you! Nice car! Just a FWIW, please be careful with extension cords and level one charging at your home. It's not recommended to use them for this purpose as it can be a fire hazard. If you do use one, make sure it's a heavy gauge, heavy duty cable that is only as long as you absolutely need it to be. IE, don't use a 50 ft. cord to run 10 ft. Use a 20 amp outlet if at all possible. Also, another way to protect yourself is to lower the maximum charging current in the Tesla. On a 15A outlet, I typically set the maximum current to 8A or 10A. It's slow, but it's better than a fire. Thanks for a good vid!

      @fredgarvin316 4 місяці тому +1

      I was cringing when I saw that. Agree totally with the above comment. If you need to use an extension cord witch in not recommended the problem here is the fact that you need a 20amp circuit which most outlets are not…they are typically 15 amps. The more amps you want to pull, the larger the wire or lower the guage. You’ll need a minimum of a 6awg copper stranded wire is you want to charge at the max potential of the system (for safety and to account for parasitic loss from the long run). Again it’s hard to make a mistake here as the plug required is a 14-50 NEMA and you are unlikely to have a proper plug on a 12awg cord.
      On the road, you’ll need to look for a microwave or better yet a dryer outlet. As those connections are typically dedicated circuits and the highest amp rated circuits. Also keep the connections off the ground and in a box.

      I have v12.5.1.5 on a 2020 MY AWD w HW3. For 3 weeks now I have not been driving anymore.
      I have disengagements or interventions on almost every drive. Sometimes it still gets a bit wobbly, but it is so good and you will get comfortable with it real quick.
      Highway driving is boring but FSD can do it all. It will make mistakes but I don't even bother to drive without it anymore. The handsfree experience has been a total game changer.

    One little advice : the number in the screen is the EPA number, so don't bother to show it. It is only the projection of the EPA number based on the state of charge of the battery. For exemple, if your EPA is 363 miles at 100%, the number will be 363 x SOC% during your drive.

      Absolutely true. I switched to battery % to monitor SOC. When traveling, the navigation destination SOC is the most accurate since the car could account for driver's driving speed, road status (elevation, traffics), and environmental factors to calculate SOC.

Just remember to not always charge to 100. For long roadtrips it’s ok here and there. Otherwise keep it down to 80/70 percent to make that battery last a good while. Which should be plenty enough for all daily needs plus the fastest charging is done between then. Last 20 percent will always take the longest. Best of luck !

      @@duranfly A couple of things to consider are that the car does lose range overnight if you use Sentry Mode, about 1 mile or so per hour. Charging my car from 10% to 80% costs about $19 at my local Supercharger, which is 40 cents per kilowatt, on the high side for my area. Most cost savings come from charging at home, but Supercharging is doable if you’re okay with the cost and the time it takes to charge.

    Why is only the top half of the rear window tinted? Very odd. Always tint the whole window to block heat. I would never drive a car without any window tint. Especially in Texas or hot states. And here in Texas, tollway speeds are 85-90mph. Would like some tests from someone with ANY Tesla to go that fast. Also when you use autopilot it doesnt even go 1 mile over rated speed, which makes it worthless near me. Everyone goes 10miles over the rated speed on highways and roads.

      I have not yet checked this myself, but the Chill, Average, and Assertive FSD modes are supposed to help with follow distance. Chill mode provides a more relaxed driving style with a larger follow distance and fewer lane changes. Average mode has a medium follow distance. Assertive mode has a shorter follow distance and more frequent lane changes. Again, can’t confirm this from my own experience, but give those modes a try and see if they make any difference for you.
