- At Solo Camp today, I make Omurice- a Japanese dish that made it's way to Korea after the war. It is a popular street food there.

As a fellow Asian-American, you inspire me to live rather than exist. I'm committed to work 1 more year then I'll be 50 and financially set to retire responsibly. Thank you for your videos and education. I've been searching for my, "perfect" vehicle. Surely many trips to HF...
Non-stick frying pans usually aren’t non-stick. I got hungry watching you prepare that dish. It brought back memories of Dad, my older brother, and me camping with the station wagon back in the mid-1950’s. Our staple was wieners and beans.
B and W. Plenty of that in the Boy Scouts. Take care.
Thanks for the sanity break from the world around us all these days. You certainly have a calmness about everything to say and do. The whole world should take your lead and chill with Explorer Steve. Great music in the background for such a beautiful campground. Looking forward to more of your recipes, projects and travels. Happy trails to you Steve!
I also watch Matt's Offroad Recovery.
I grew up driving in the sand at the beach. While I tend to be a little smug about those newbs that sink their cars out where he rescues them, I can say from personal experience that the sand in Utah is different than beach sand. A few yeas back I got my Jeep Wrangler stuck in the Coral Pink Sand dunes outside of Kanab. The only way I was able to get unstuck is that I have years of experience driving in sand and was able finagle my way out.
I think the main lesson to take away from going to remote locations is to not be afraid to turn around and go back when it gets too rough.
Wise words.
I watch him a lot as well. There are some real hard cases he's had to retrieve.
LOL I love Matt's off road recovery too! Found you recently; have thoroughly enjoyed your videos!
Always a great day when wake up to Steve cooking breakfast!
I enjoy watching Matt and the Yellow Banana too. You and Matt share your adventures, this makes both shows very informative and entertaining to watch.
Yah ... I agree ... Both interesting channels !!
Steve, I like your videos. You are very pragmatic. You honored your father respectfully. Thanks for sharing. The Sake warmer was cool too. I too have become a HF tool nut.
Thanks for the enjoyment because making quality videos takes effort.
Take care.
That hand sketched style sequence was really cool!
~ Once again (another) great video with many lessons within . . .
~ this is why I enjoy your channel very much Sir, adventure, lessons learned in each video entry and your presentation with each is respectful and always insightful . . .
~ もう一度ありがとう!
As a fellow half Korean. I approve this video! Loving the cooking. Great work man!
Lived in the Vegas area back in 1972-76, while stationed at Nellis. Many trips up to the Spring Mtns. Way too many people for me now though. Enjoyed the video and I've always liked the desert. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.
Everyplace is crowded now days. I just try to go up past the car campers and it's good.
I had found your channel on UA-cam last week, i have a Toyota 4 runner 2001.I wants to convert to a small camper suv.Thank you for your beautiful videos and many helpful informations about your creative skills in DIY .I'm a old Asian/ American lady( the same age with you).Retired and ready to travel👵.Stay safe ,stay healthy and best wishes to you and your kids.✌🤞👍😎😷
Good luck and have fun.
@@XplorerSteveDIY Thanks😊
Thanks for sharing this video, great time enjoying your video of camping and cooking.
Hi Steve....... I look forward to ALL of your videos..... don’t listen to anyone saying to just do this or that .... keep up the great wok

당신의 친절한 의견에 감사드립니다.
Solo is the best in 2020 👍
Nice to have that much shade.
Your awning works well!
Love seeing people capture the wild nature Vegas offers. Stay safe neighbor 👋
The music for the food was great 😂
So glad you're making videos again.
I'm not sure what I like more, driving/route, being outdoors, or the camp tinkering? I guess it's a combination. On a side note, I periodically tie about 2 ft of yellow caution tape to the center of the guidewires to help me avoid them. They don't take up a lot of space & are reusable. Sláinte
Love that table. It’s sold under several different brand names. Koreans pronounce it omrice and Japanese pronounce it omurice. Same with kimchi and kimuchi
Interesting thanks.
Another awesome video Steve! food presentation, and also your music placement and selection. the spot you pick looks awesome! Thanks Steve, and stay well my brother.
I'll eat that with kimchi.👍😋
Another great video once again!!!!!
Thank you. Good video, as usual!
Wow! Thank you! That is an awesome looking dish. I’m living vicariously through you.
Looks good.
Enjoyed the video! Food looked delicious.
Great video Steve..
Will be trying out the shade deal soon.
Safe travels..👍🇺🇸🙏
Enjoying the video
thanks for sharing your adventures :)
I have to say that the food looked very good 👍
It looks fantastic 😋😋😋😋
Nice to see you through up a few video's solitude this video.
Wow, very cool, thanks for showing us how to do that
Fun video! Very enjoyable to watch your editing style.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for your time and efforts in making these videos available to us.
Love your site. I'm learning a lot. Thank You for your time. Jody
Great video I really enjoy your content sir. Be safe and explore
Wow you made that Omurice, look so easy to make . I am going to try to cook that myself . Thank you .
u have an amazing setup.. so simple but functional
Nice! Way to go! Eating is an important aspect of RV life.
Good video Steve. I enjoyed the cooking part.👍😃🇨🇦
Very good!
STEVE,
That dish looked yummy.
I hope you made enough for everyone.
!
Always, since I am usually alone.
Yes I had more those green pans, it wasn’t too good. Then I tried to copper colored one and it wasn’t any better than the green one. I have one now called granite stone. Looks like stoneware on the outside and inside it does an excellent job.
Thanks for the tip.
Hope you have some new adventures soon, and hope you are doing well (most important)..Take care. Hope to see you on the road
Thank you for another great video. This one reminded me I have a work, somewhere in the deep dark reaches of our kitchen that I have not used because the glass cook top does not allow it to cook right. I'm pulling it out and taking it camping. Thank you for the idea. Safe travels.
Love your channel. Lots of good ideas. I'll be trying to camp soon in my Acura SUV AWD. I'll also try the Korean street food recipe on my boys, who are half Korean, next time they come home.
Hey Steve, i think the spanish term for that wok is a "Disco". Discada is actually a dish, cooked on a disco, comprised of different meats all mixed together. Anyhow, great vid! Keep em coming
Correct... disco
Pronounced "dii-sco" by my Mexican friends
First video I need to save! Nice recipe
Your outdoor adventures get more creative with every trip. Neat b/w effect. That was an interesting omurice. First time I've seen it served with curry sauce. Better than I could have made it.
I don't like the normally sweet flavor. If you do, add a tsp sugar and leave out the curry. I like it more savory and the Ketchuo has enough sugar for me.
Great videos, I am liking a lot the ones that you camp and cook Korean recipes. Can't wait for the Arizona trip man. Best regards.
I know what I’m having for lunch today 😋👌🏼
Great video God bless Steve.
That looks so bomb 💣 great job brotha
Love your videos Steve, I came across them. With the idea that I already wanted a 4runner and these made me want one even more. Two days ago my mom's friend offer to sell me her 96 3.4 V6 2WD model with only 216k miles. Looking forward to doing some camping with this thing. Also +1 for Matt's off road recovery.
Safe travels.
Nice meal, beats sandwiches or backpacking food 👍🏽
All you need is a guitar or ukulele and a Shakuhachi, of course along with your Saki kit...
I love Matt’s Offroad Recovery too!
Thanks for the details on omurice. I already make fried rice, which was the first part of your recipe. I also make omelettes, so just need to put it all together with the sauce! I love your mix of detail, exploring the surroundings, and music. Good stuff! I watch Matt, too.
Hey Steve , ... I AGREE ... Been watching Matt's Off Road Recovery since the beginning, (as with your channel, as well), .... In my opinion, both you and Matt have kind hearted type personalities, and that is something that long term fans admire, and are interested in following....
YUP, the tarp is an Awesome addition to your 4-Runner.... Improvements are always a GOOD thing !!!
Rick S from Massachusetts
I want to try that omurice
Steve that looks delicious.
My mom used to cook Omurice for my dad. 😌
Steve, that looks great. It reminds me of Omurice I used to eat in Korea! I haven’t had one in a long time.
enjoying your vlogs! What DIY projects do you have upcoming?
Good looking dish. It runs close to what we call egg rice in so west Louisiana. Big rice Farm’s around and my dad would fix it too when I was little. Dish can vary accordingly depending on last nights left overs😂 So much one can do with rice, vegetables, seasonings and eggs. Really like your new sun shade, I watched that video too. Ever thought of one of those roof mounted foldout tents? Have a nice Labor Day weekend👍❤️🇺🇸💙
NICE comment !!!
Looks Delicious 👍
It was!
I knew it 😊
Enjoyed Omurice in Itaewon..among other street food and some good old OB..where is the kimchi...lol
That kind of outdoor cooking attracts bears in Canada. Bears can't just eat hikers, they too crave some Korean food from time to time.
LOLOL.... (Even half Korean food ....)
No bears here. Mountain lions though. I am sure they would find Canadians tasty.
@@XplorerSteveDIY If you find a missing hockey stick in the high desert, you know a Canadian has been eaten by a cougar.
Another great video. Just getting out in the desert and relaxing. We are just south of you in Tucson and take little overland trips with our sprinter based motorhome. When it cools off check out Death Valley especially Death Valley's Moving Rocks and Golf course Real and just weird rocks. amazing place to see in the winter. Keep traveling and putting out the videos. Excellent
Good tip.
love your videos brother. just got a 3rd gen as well and im korean! haha really loved the video where you went camping in remembrance for your pops. maybe we can hit a trail one day. much love
Going camping this weekend close by like 30 min nothing special but is in the mtns and nicer and with all the cali fires that are now going out this area was still campable with tents 🤣
Close or far. Fun has no boundaries. Safe travels.
Damn man you cook better than my ex-wife LOL I feel good about myself cook a hotdog. Enjoy your videos keep up the good work
Steve, that looked delicious. I found your channel for the 4Runner videos and now hope you will keep cooking. When you go to Arizona - if you do go to the Cinders in Flagstaff stay on the hardpack main "road" - without 4 wheel drive you really would get stuck if you venture too far off of it; and if you like kayaking it is worth the drive to Canyon Lake.
Thanks for the tips.
Really love to have Omurice for camp!! #오무라이스
Omurice - oh moo rice
저두 여행다니고싶네요 감사합니다 ㅛ.ㅛ
안전한 여행
Ahh looks good. I remember having Omurice in Chinese restaurants in Korea. No sauce, just some ketchup on the top wow that's about 30 years ago.
Wow, I don't even get that complex with cooking
at home! Looks good though.
If you need a good cheap camping pan the gold ones at 99 cent store ($5) are really good
Thanks for the tip.
Hi Steve, discovered ur channel late last night, I like ur style! Also watched the stove/disco/skottle build... very cool! Too bad u don't make thoz to sell.. I'd definitely buy one! Just the "bones"... I'd get my own stove.
Never heard of this dish, but it looked good! U are an awesome cook!
I'm gonna have to make an awning like yours, do u have a video on that?
My 4runner has a short back area, it's a 2018... too short for me n all my stuff, my next one will be longer.
Keep up the vids!!
Gotta check out the powered water video next!! I like that invention!!
Found the awning vid!!
All recent video's, just look through my channel timeline or do a search feature.
Nice cookout! I also enjoy watching Matt's channel, those rescues are addicting to watch. Have you seen Jay Wanders Out? He has a 4Runner, and he does hiking trips & has a nice setup for camping.
I'll check it out.
I just found you, seen some of your other videos do you still have the van, or did you downsize, I am planning on getting a van soon and plan to convert it. I like a lot of your ideals, great info, thank you for sharing.
Have it. Been working on some upgrades if you care to look back in the timeline.
Please send me some of that!!!!!!! I will pay for shipping. That looks yummy!!!!!
I'm soo hungry right now.
Awesome video, I just recently discovered your channel and like it a lot .By the way discada is a Mexican dish. The disk they cook on is called a disco. Even companies that sell discos get that wrong.
Interesting.
I like your style, it's quite enough to just get out and take the time to make some good chow. Shock jock overlanding vanlifers are a dime a dozen, your channel and Slim Potatohead are so much more "in the moment."
I enjoy your videos and trying to convince my husband to build me the stand stove top as a similar cost a lot to buy. When you’re hiking off the beaten path, how do you not get lost and find your way back to the car?
GPS
If you see Toyota 4runner on the street w the blue sign " Keep Tahoe Blue" .That's me😊
Okay.
I wish you would build a few stove stands for sale, I’d buy one :-). Great vid as always!
The video I linked had an alternative in the description with an Amazon link. Hundred buck, I think.
Hmm, I thought the free camping areas were just in the open desert area. I assume you take the 160, on the way to Pahrump?
The problem with the generator you are running the AC and charging two 100 amp lithium batteries at the same time. Turn off the circuit breaker that goes to your charger.
I think you got the wrong vid. No generator problems here.
What campground is that? How do you usually find your campsites?
Freecampsites.net
"We are in the Spring Mountain Range". Who is "we"? You have a mystery companion? lol Did you get that Stainless plate at Ikea, comes with a bowl and cup? I just bought 2 sets for a $8, (50% off) gotta' love inexpensive Ikea, right? I just bought a new Subaru Outback, new ones have 9" ground clearance. Not anything like yours, but it will get to some pretty cool spots. Another great meal! I absolutely love your choice in music!. Thanks
We means me and my 4runner. Plate at Walmart. I believe they are stove burner covers. Subaru's rock.
Appetizing INDEED!!!
Excellent video! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I did deduct one star because you didn’t use a spork.
I don't think I had any foo foo coffee either. Duh-oh! there goes another star.
Xplorer Steve DIY nobody’s perfect. The four stars stand.
Hello Steve, why are you favoring your SUV instead of your RV?
I hope the uncooked egg doesn’t give you salmonella poisoning.
I enjoy your little adventures, thank you for sharing.
It’s a common dish to eat lol the chances of getting salmonella from a fully raw egg are low, this is basically non existent
Guarantee that Toyota 4runner gets better gas mileage than the Dodge van.
Since the "thing" took over, I keep to weekending. Sites can get crowded so I like to get past the car campers and find some solitude. The higher ground clearance does that for me. Cheaper gas. I like to try out my build and improve on it. so it is the flavor of the month. I am still alive.
You forgot the kimchee or daikon (yellow radish) as a side dish.
Great, now I got to dig my Wok out of storage.
