I MADE HIS GUITAR but I can't play it because of the Accordion

- Here I pay tribute to Eddie Van Halen, my guitar hero. I once made a copy of his Frankenstein guitar and go over the build to show details and trivia. RIP EVH. I suck at guitar but at least i have the ability to make a Frankenstrat clone.

~ I laughed so hard while drinking coffee (on that first bit about the accordion lessons) and that's a - "personal indicator" - that this channel is AWESOME AF! 🤙
~ We're the same age and I can relate very well to everything stated within this presentation and when you opened the case and I saw the - replica - you made. (I instantly said) ~ "F - yea!"
~ I extremely enjoy seeing such (projects) that are made with care, enthusiasm and love combined with exacting detail!
~ I am not joking when I say this - to me - they're akin to a painter's masterpieces that are found in museums (because) one can tell instantly by just seeing the details presented in them, as they're painstakingly reproduced (even down to the smallest of nuances)
~ Sir, you did an outstanding job on your guitar build and I am impressed.
We have lost many great musicians who really spoke for the generation's that bought their albums. Nice tribute.
That Kim Jong pic lmfao!!!!! Dude I love your sense of humor, keep it coming dude! Stay up brother!!!
That was gold!
Kim Jong Steve
"Accordion Art Project" translation: taking it to the middle of the desert and shooting it. Nice dedication to realism with the cigarette stains on the head stock. Eddie would be proud.
My Uncle Ralf played the accordion. My mother made me play the Clarinet when I wanted the Trumpet I hated it so I went around the house all day, and night to the point the whole family couldn't take it anymore and so I got my Trumpet. Can't forget marching down the street in the parade's when I was in the Golden Rays Marching Band now that brings back memories of the mid-'60s. Always wanted to learn the Harmonica but never got off my butt to do so. The world was a better place back then you stepped out of line you got an ass whopping today you, discipline your child and they lock you up and that is part of the problem today no discipline and no respect for others.
Eddie Van Halen and Johnny Nash. RIP. Great tribute. Me it was the organ. In one year, I was playing in Sunday school. The next year I started in church. I still play, but have an electric piano now. Oh the 60's....
you and I are the same age, and like you a salesman came to our door one night ( I was around 10-11 yrs old) with an accordion. Oh the sixties, I miss that era! Also like you I was enamored with guitar. I got the same lecture about too small of hands etc. so I rejected the accordion and never got a guitar until I was 17 and bough t myself a used Cort Les Paul copy. I still play but as a result of wasting years not having a guitar I still struggle to be a musician.
I grew up in far west Texas, must have been a cult of accordion teachers in those days!
Your Frankenstrat is Amazing, a museum quality replica!
long story but i had access to eddie and the rest of the band from about 79 to 81. a good freind of mine was head of security. like yourself, i was also born in ‘60. was a time when they were in the NYC area that they sent a limo for me and my freinds. backstage passes. the whole 9 yards. my wife and i (girlfriend at the time) had dinner one night with eddie and valerie. eddie was a very quiet man. kept to himself except for valerie. the backstage parties were what you expect. crazy. david was trying to pick up my sister in law. she was 13 at the time. sorry to ramble but really enjoying the content !!
And from here, straight to Eruption solo...
Your guitar is fabulous! The detail! That is quite the tribute to Eddie.
Ed split the one oval reflector to make room for his guitar-shelf-device that screwed on to the back of the guitar. It left screw holes too.
One year younger, and I too got abducted into the Milton Mann accordion program. I can't wait to see your EVH replica Honer accordion.
Oh, and my mother made me take trumpet lessons when I was 8. I never cared about sight reading music because I learned everything by ear. Al Hurt was my hero but then I heard "Badge" by Cream on the radio and it was over with the horn. Thus I bought a $10 strat copy from a kid in my neighborhood and I was off. Many years and guitars later, I'm still at it. Thanks for your story!
The Asian Kid with the Red Accordian! Man... you had me rolling. LMAO and I really enjoyed your stories, and the vid. I just subbed you. I dig your style, and wow. Awesome Frankenstrat. I have a feeling I'm going to like a lot of your content.
Hi, Steve. Nice guitar. You've got the guitar, so now is the time to take those lessons. 🎸
This is such a fitting tribute to Eddie Van Halen. Well done!
You never cease to amaze me with your talents! Next your going to paint your van like scooby do!
steve that was the funniest and saddest story i've ever heard. also, remember reading the rolling stone article about the making of the replica guitar. yours is crazy accurate... how long did it take?
Funny Accordion story!
Hope you find one and FrankenCordian/SteamPunk it...
Super impressed with your reconstruction of EVH’s FrankenStrat.
Hope you have it in a lit display case, the meticulous details you crafted are EVH worthy 🤘🏽
We have one of the $25,000 versions in our shop Steve. I got to say. The difference between that version and the one you made, is not that big. You did a really great job. Plus man. You do not look your age! Lol
Wow...What detail eye you have! Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
That’s pretty neat guitar replica of frankenstrat. Kinda bizarre there are so many other people building this guitar replica years years ago. You bring yours out after Van Halen’s death. UA-cam has many builds, just type in Frankenstrat.
Great story. Love the details you put into that guitar. You’re truly an interesting person. I remember hearing EVH for the first time even I knew that greatness was upon us.🤟🎸.
Dude I sure wish I could be married to you 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I find that variety on your is what makes you so interesting.
great piece. I'd expect nothing less from someone with such an incredible attention to detail as you. Eddie was an icon and I was so fortunate enough to have met him once and spend the better part of a day with him. He was awesome. It's never to late to learn, pal.
That's passion bro. Great job Steve
I cannot imagine how much thought and time must have gone in that guitar. It makes me curious what your profession is/was. Your attention to detail is uncanny. You are one awesome dude!
Amazin the depth of your knowledge and skills.
hey steve, hope all's well. we miss you out here making videos.
Smoke on the water is my entire guitar playing repertoire as well! . 😊
Great work Steve! Your attention to detail is amazing! Funny story too😀👍
Yes... Eddie was the best... It was a sad day when I heard of his passing... Texted all the rockers I knew...
This replica of his guitar is so amazingly beyond awesome!!! Thank you for explaining all the painstakingly little details!
And most of all, thank you for sharing!
This was VERY educational .... Never pictured YOU for an "Accordion" geek though, Steve ...LOLOL I LIKE your replica Frankenstein guitar !!!!!! I learned some new things ..... COOL vid :)
That was a totally awesome video! Thanks!
Accordion kid here, too; 🥴🥴
along with violin, cello, piano, ballet and chorus! Nope, I don't have a tiger mom. Those were my babysitters. That guitar has your OCD prints all over!! Incredible replica! 👍👍👍👍
Hilariously entertaining video as usual🤪🤪🤪. Thank you for sharing!
Im eating soft tofu kim chi soup. And the other day as I was watching I made spaghetti with kim chi....
Nothing better to me than a humble VERY handy man who cooks! Can't wait to watch more!
Sounds great! I have tried that here in China Town. There is a place that serves it up in cast iron bowls. It took a while for it to cool down. Maybe too long.
that was some prettttttttttty solid yappin !
As usual, your attention to detail is stunning. And just by watching your videos and listening to your approach to things, I bet you’re a pretty good guitarist.
I’m sure he’d be good technically. But with guitar it’s more “feel”.
They say Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing... Great tribute guitar you’ve made Steve, it screams of your love for Eddie and your passion for perfection! I can’t think of a better object of the arts to freeze that passion in time with. Now to build the 4’x8’ wall mount, plexi covered case/Rock n Roll shrine for your man cave! I’m building one myself to display my snapshots from over a 27 year Army career for my “inner sanctum/man cave!” During these times of pure crazy all around us, it’s refreshing to see such a grounded caring gesture. I thank you, as I’m positive Eddie would also for sharing this 🥺✌🏼❤️
Only Explorer Steve could make an a video about his Accordion lessons and replica guitar 🎸 be entertaining.
Great story, Steve. I joined the band in middle school and I wanted to play percussion, but I ended up playing trumpet because the teacher thought it was a better fit for me. I was never any good and quit when I moved on to high school. I figured I had no musical talent, but part of that was that I had no real interest in trumpet and was always jealous of the percussion students in the back.
I had a similar thing happen in sports. My parents had me play baseball, but I wanted to play basketball. I didn't get to play until a later age and I was so far behind the other kids at that point. Meanwhile, I'm built for endurance sports and should have been running cross country the whole time instead. Funny how life works out sometimes. The great thing about getting older is that you know your strengths and weaknesses and you can do whatever you want with them.
I love listening to your stories. You could write books.
I found several of the custom replicas on reverb and ebay.
Some store in australia try to peddle their for 70.000$
Awesome!
The accordion story was hilarious! (I got stuck with the clarinet much the same way)... the guitar? What a masterpiece! I true labor of love! I am amazed at the attention to detail. What a beautiful piece!
Lol...Thank you for sharing. Love your story and somehow reminds me of the "Wonder year".
Wow...nice guitar!!!!!
Enjoy your videos and now your choice of guitar heros.
Very impressed at your guitar 🎸 project. Eddie would be too!
You're Mom did you a favor, you could of ended up with a *Fuller Brush Man Collection*
What an amazing story and especially your skill set to be able to replicate this hallowed instrument. Steve, I live in Henderson and started following your 4 Runner build videos a couple of days ago. Is there way we can talk? I have a few questions and comments but I'd rather speak to you by phone or text. I found your business address in the about tab, but... If I don't hear from you here, I will shoot a letter off soon. Thanks for all your vids. I admire your incredible skills.
Gary Schroeder
Loved the vid! I'm making a frankenstrat, and I'm also looking for a honer Cajun arriet, mine got jacked😔 I really liked the vid, I'll be checking out more!
Let me know when I can bring down my Sienna for a build out...
We all suffered the education of the time and our parents were wrong as we do. Anyway, it's never too late to learn to play the guitar. You won't be like Eddie Van Halen, but you'll be able to imitate some of his songs and bring out your own at the amateur level.
I have the same explorer that you have I replaced my RM 2310 with a RM 2354 and the back of the fridge hit the wheel well so had to shim it out 3/4 of an inch you didn't have the same problem with yours did you love the guitar you are very talented 😊
Funny, then very impressive.
Entertained and informed. 👍🏼
That guitar though, awesome
Awesome! How did you replicate the red single coil pickup and the process to âge the 5 way switch??
"Tiger Mom," the struggle is real! Hapa haole lives matter🤣
This is an epic repro.
Nice guitar Steve, That's dedication...🚬
That story of your legs falling completely asleep got my first out loud laugh of the day. I really wonder how much you could get for your guitar Frankenstein replica at the gold and silver pawn shop run by rick and his kids.
My father bought me a Yahama DX-180 acoustic guitar and sent me to lessons playing country music, which I hated the sound of, but I did get good at playing the hardest chords. What I really wanted to do was play piano. Now I have a beautiful upright piano. It's actually got gilded gold award winning emblems inside. It's an 1897 and the B key is a little slow so at times I have to repair the repair on it. But I can't play it now since I had a surgery where I lost the use of my left hand.
I've suffered with chronic pain for decades now and when I would awake in pain or could not sleep I would get up and play Christmas tunes and Brahm's Lullaby until I lulled myself back to sleep again.
That was very cool.
I only listen to music. Never paid attention to the guitar. I had to go back and watch Panama. Now it is so obvious. Great presentation.
Very interesting
very interesting!
did you also make Neil Peart's drum kit?
Cool video cool story
The kim jong un photo was hilarious, love your type humor. 😂
Morning all
number 4.. yes...
As I watch this video I am cleaning out a basement of my sisters house that I purchased. In the corner is a Frontalini in a leather box . Yes it's black. Would have been too funny if it was red.
My only memories are of my sister practicing, Bring back my Bonnie to me! Lol
Omg, your story is funny I can picture it.
In your face, Accordion.... hahahahaha! AWE!
Lol, my parents made me play the flute. I hated it. I hated it for 6 LONG years. I wanted to play the guitar or the drums, but no, they knew better. (And unfortunately, this was before Jethro Tull, so nothing cool about the flute for a male). But I think that might be better than the accordion.
Definitely better than the accordion...
Same age group 61 here
Accordion, really?🤣🤣 Brave man to make that confession. 👍
It’s a bicycle
Nice replica steve. How much you want for it? $$
Just kidding. lol. Thanks for sharing.
RIP Eddie
Tiger Mom! LOL
In the mid 70s l briefly saw Van Halen play at a backyard birthday party. Got there just before the police broke it up. David Lee Roth was already the jumpsuit wearing dork we know. I was never a big fan.
I think it was the red that attracted you to the guitar.
BTW you put that first commercial right in the middle of your punchline. I hate when that happens.
Even Brian May buildt his guitar
ROTFL!!!!! Hysterically funny and so uncharacteristic too!
You should stripe your accordion 🪗 🎸🔴⚪️⚫️
Wasn't it Van Halen who made the song: Running with the Devil? // You gave a nice sentiment to him about R.I.P. on the thumbnail.... Unless he made his peace with God since then... probably not Resting in Peace. Sorry.
My 35 year old brother also die this week
Awww..
Sorry for your loss man...
Brothers are the best
Sisters are cool too, but brothers... nothing like them!
That's too young. Sorry for your loss.
Who is Eddie Van Halen?
😁
RIP. 😢
My weapon is the violin, kinda guitar like.
You should do a Wongfu or eat with the Fung bros. Just sayin.
Tell us about EVH's private life and what you witnessed while stalking him.😁
I'm not Asian but I do have a tiger mom LOL... NOW STEVE I gotta critique you now as you think I like to do xD dO yOu HaVe tHe sAmE aLlEn kEy aS eDdIe?
Tiger mom 👩 ❤ 🤣😆
I hate the accordion. ..lol
Thank you for hating the accordion.
@@XplorerSteveDIY It is an awful instrument....unless your Frankie Yankovic...haha
He is from my home town.
hahahahahaha
Only asian kid with a red accordion
lol
Awesome!!!
