When my girlfriend was playing drums in a band that was opening for Jane's Addiction, before the their first show, Stephen Perkins went up before they played their opening set and he wrote "Have fun!- Stephen Perkins He also had his tech set up a chair for her right behind him so she could sit there and watch him play the Jane's set. Nicest guy, nicest band I've ever met.
This video was so pivotal for me early on and still is. Do to medical issues I can't really play drums the way I like, if at all anymore. But this video opened me up to percussion and world percussion. I can never thank him enough for that. He and Carter beauford are two of my biggest influences.
When i bought my last drum kit i got the shallow toms just like his on the chrome kit he plays, my favorite drummer ever........every time i watch this dvd i want to buy a new kit and cymbals, haha
You are my kind of drummer, and on this video, playing lots of freeform badass jam music they way I wish I could. And, bringing your gear out on road trips to play...we're alike there too. Where's my sticks? I've got to learn how to play drums!!

He's not average. He is an amazing drummer who brings a lot of passion and energy to the band. His time keeping is solid and his fills and grooves fit what the music requires despite often being quite technical. He is more than just a drummer. He is a true musician, a true artist. Get a clue.
