Fantastic drummer and heck of a nice guy
If I put on any track from the ritual habitual album.....it immediately takes me back to high school and the way I was feeling at that time as a teenager and having the time of my life. Thank you Stephen Perkins!!!
Perky...always an inspire and illumination seeing you live..helps me expand my kit and open up to new ideas
Merry Christmas DC and Stephen!
Thank you Stephen!
Very insightful interview
Stephen is top 5 influences on my playing.
Another amazing interview Don! After many years of drumming, it can be difficult to get motivated to play but Stephen has this infectious energy and enthusiasm about drumming that makes me excited to be a drummer. He makes me feel like it's truly a privilege to be able to play. I always tell my students that we, drummers, have the power to make people move. I like how Stephen mentioned that too. That dude just makes me smile when he talks about drumming and rhythms...
Great insight and explanation. Thank you!
Love his playing.
(His part in Blood Rag even became sort of a tic for me: I catch myself tapping it on my knees at least once a week since '94 :D )
Cameron Graves and miles Mosley for the upright and piano jam. You guys would crush it.
100% Wow!
Great interview with an amazing guy and drummer. Thanks drum channel. I was a novice drummer in the 90's. I didn't know what I know now because of my Son. He's a musician and great jazz drummer. I love that Stephen talked about being into jazz and making rock swing. Its an element that I think brings the music alive and a very important part of being a drummer in a band. These guys touched on so many interesting things and concepts. Great advice from a legend in my book 👍👍
