  • This is an unedited wand build guide that is essentially just a constant stream of thoughts as I play the game in an efficient manner. There are boss kills, great spells and even an unlucky crash! I hope this video is useful to somebody and if you would like more content like this please let me know in the comments down below.

    Things I've learned from this as a 400h player:
    1. Need to spam potions more because I've trained myself to use them so sparingly
    2. The scroll swap use trick
    3. Ambrosia has a recipe (woah)
    Might edit this
    27:20 "If you want a lot of gold, you should go to hell" would be so funny without context

Wasted 2 hours getting the earth stone and eye from one of Fury's videos to get the chaingun. Died before getting into the diamond, but now I know it's possible.

    I like this kind of thing, please do more! I actually like the idea of doing guide style full runs that focus on intermediate or advanced stuff; there are videos for beginners, but once you reach the stage above that, there's actually not a ton of content about it. I have about 200 hours in the game and I can beat Kolmi relatively consistently and have been working on doing the content outside of the tutorial levels.

    • @dragonprism

      " there are videos for beginners, but once you reach the stage above that, there's actually not a ton of content about it" - agreed! There's a lot of entry level stuff that explain the absolute basics, there's some tutorials that explain the more unintuitive concepts like alchemy or orbs, and then there nothing for the midgame that doesn't automatically get into boss territory/the harder to unlock spells/etc. This video and the stream of conscious explanations were *great* at helping showcase the logic tree at work during a playthrough.

Just knowing what to look for in terms of spells and how wand crafting can work is eye opening. Not only informative, but your personality makes this an entertaining video instead of just bland tutorial. I've never really been one to watch these sort of videos uninterrupted but I do quite enjoy how you dissect the reasoning why you make certain decisions while playing in a game like this
    It sort of makes me realize how linear I'm playing Noita when in reality I should be thinking about it from a less confined perspective (eg. forcefully "bending the rules" in cases like with the plasma beam's area damage going through pyramid boss armor, or the heartbreak mage health max duplication)
    Shows that Noita really is a one of a kind game

    I don't typically watch anything that looks like a 'let's play' or other 'full run' type content, but really enjoyed this video. Mainly, I find it really valuable to hear a high level player's thought process while actually seeing things in motion. There are a few dedicated wand-crafting guides out there that do a better job of breaking down the details of the mechanics, but they tend to lack context and be a bit too dense for a new-ish player to really grasp. Likewise a lot of stuff you did here was pure nonsense, but it still really helps to get a feel for how those high level mechanics fit into the context of the game. I learned a good bit of concrete, actionable stuff, but the most useful part is seeing the progression, both in the run, and the decision-making. Understanding how to build an absolutely broken wand isn't nearly as valuable in the early to mid game as understanding how to build power and manage resources in a sustainable way from the first biome.
    I'm a few months late here, but I'm hoping you have, or will do more of this style of video in the future. Specifically, I'd be interested in a (mostly) 'pacifist' run showcasing ways to get trick kills, and a run showing how alchemy fits into the rest of the gameplay. I'd also like to see how you approach things like backtracking, moving enemies and materials, and other slightly more advanced techniques.

    I've survived Personal Fireball Thrower twice with no immunities. You just need to stay wet and airborne for like a minute or two. It's not easy, and it definitely chonked out my health both times, and at least one of those times I had a teleport wand to help me stay airborne, but if you get hit by it, DO NOT GIVE UP. If you die, you'll have given yourself some good practice, and if you survive, you'll feel like a million bucks.
    Also I had absolutely no idea that fungal wands were all non-shuffle! That really shocks me to hear tbh; I know I've found some real stinker wands in there amongst the good ones, and I just assumed some were shuffle.

    You can tell the characteristics of a magic wand by its appearance.
    That you can ignore the recharge time with binds in the game.

What I did learn however was how to identify wands at a first glance, that the levels are all connected (So you can go backwards in levels!) and set up in tiles, and that the upward POTENTIAL of wand building is absurd. The way you exploded the screen at the end made my jaw drop. What I would like to know is how the better players have such great control of their potions. Like how do you completely stain yourself so quickly?

      This is an old comment but for posterity I guess, it seems to me like just spraying up and then levitating up into it is how. Not spraying enough makes it seem like it doesn't work so just practicing and paying attention to get a feel for the right amount and not be too wasteful. You don't want to levitate faster than your spray too which is very possible.

    One tiny little critique:
    22 minutes in, you're discussing the use of a splitter bolt with timer to get just a little more damage out of the wand. You stick the drill in as the timer's payload. You don't explain why.
    I know enough about Noita to assume it's to negate the timer on the splitting bolt with something harmless so you can just get the damage from having the projectile, but you make an assumption that the viewer knows enough to come to that conclusion-which might not be helpful for newer folk looking to use this as a guide.
    Excellent video overall though! :D
    Edit: The critique was addressed one hour in! This is good. I love that. There are definitely some steps skipped, for sure. I know enough about wands to have a general idea how to build something decent, but then you go and build that shotgun wand just before the crash and I had no idea what I was looking at or how you structured it like that-and you didn't elaborate. To be fair the game also immediately crashed, but you made no explanation in the process of building the wand either. You just took ten seconds to slap some spells on the thing and suddenly a terrifying amount of spark bolts came into being. It was cool, dont get me wrong, but I have no idea how to recreate it in my own world.

    also the scroll trick totally changes the proportion of time I can find a usable wand in the early game, very happy with that! hoping for some much healthier fungals in the future

After beating it, my friend showed me a god run they have been on for a while now and I realized just how little of the surface I'd scratched. This video really helped me understand this game even better. Thank you for this!

    This is probably my favorite noita video out there TBH. I would love a sun quest or 33 orb run version of this or even just another one of these since the early game probaby has the most interesting decisions. I struggle making wands that arent your cookie cutter spark bolt trigger,chainsaw, a million damage modifier wands for my god runs and for that reason long runs tend to get boring for me. Maybe that is an idea for another video for long runs with some non-cookie cutter endgame wands focused on teaching other ways of wandbuilding besides the generic way most players know. I know you like doing the more obscure wand builds.

    I watched this video to gain a better understanding of how to create a better wand. I'm commenting to let you know i've watched this at the normal speed and treated it as a tutorial despite it being an old version of the game. As i enjoyed the commentary, you've shown a lot more exploration that i can do. Spoilers aren't a biggy to me so i've appreciated the run through. This video has brought the game play more to life and im more keen to spend time playing it.
    I'd highly like to recommend you make more tutorial videos on wand builds as you have a great way of quick explanations and easy to understand. as i'm new to the game and still understand what you mean. haha! Cheers for the video.

    I thoroughly enjoy your casual run here!
    Just a little question about the scroll down wand usage, if someone also wants to use this technique it makes it harder to use scrollwheel to change wands right?
    Since you can only scroll up to change now, or you have to use the hotkeys for the different slots.
    And I myself really suck at pressing hotkeys, especially since i have played 300hours or so just using the scrollwheel to change slots except for using q to switch to the first item/potion slot :P
    Or is there an alternative to that?
    1x Speed btw :)

    • @AliasGaming0
      @AliasGaming0  Рік тому +1

      Avoiding reduce recharge penalty by swapping wands is just a natural part of the game. People should play however they like, utilizing tech or exploits or even mods! If you really want to be hardcore stop using wands because they are a bundle of potentially unintended features.

    • @AliasGaming0
      @AliasGaming0  Рік тому +2

      Mouse wheel is the easiest way to get it done as it is essentially just pressing a button really fast. You could theoretically use any key with the same setup but you will be hard pressed to click as fast! That said I used to be a scroll wheel gamer for a long time until I got myself killed scrolling to slowly to my potion and locking myself under lava. If you ever wanna up your game it's worth the switch! That said just play however is comfy to you. Hope this helps.

    • @Netherlander
      @Netherlander Рік тому +3

      If you want to get better, you simply have to force yourself to start using the hotkeys. Using the scroll wheel to swap weapons/items is just slow, inefficient and prone to mistakes, and that goes for all games, not just Noita. Keep in mind, you can rebind the hotkeys to anything you want. I personally just use 1-4 for wands but I have the item slots bound to 4 buttons on my mouse. Don't worry, it really isn't that hard and shouldn't take too long to get used to. It just sucks having to switch from one thing you're used to, to something else.
