tip: use ur disc lock on ur back wheel. 2 reasons. reason 1 ur front end is lighter than the rear if the locks on the front ppl can still take ur bike by lifting the front wheel from the ground its much harder for some thiefing scrote to move the bike while lifting the rear. reason 2 trying to ride off with the lock on the rear wheel (just incase you do this again) you will have less chance of the bike going down the way it did!
ive done this a few times you learn in the end get yourself a plastic clip going from the lock to the handlbar so you will see it when you get on the bike and you will remember to take it off then
Yes, man, it happened me twice over the years and I got rid of that disc lock. The worst part is not the scratches but people laughing at you watching your bike on the floor, fuck them all!
+Rogerborg Of course ask a passer-by if your totally stuck, but if people know how to left like this then most will never have to ask anyone and get the bike back up before even anyone has seen Lol.Thank you for watching. :)
Did the same thing on my SuperHawk. Had to spend $60(USD) on a new clutch lever! Luckily that was all that was wrong with it. Now I keep a piece of rubber over the ignition key when I use the disc lock.
Hint I was told when I got my first bike as well as the lanyard, put the disc lock as close up behind your caliper as you can. It stops the bike sooner so you are more likely to be moving slower/have you feet down/or even still pushing your bike and can be another factor to not forgetting. Saved me a couple of times.
I usually inspect my bike a few times before riding off, but still i'm hesitant to get disc locks for the reason shown in this video. It's good you and your bike are ok!
@mwhite36 look at the "xenx xx-14" it's a disk lock with an alarm. So basically if you get on the bike, it will sound before you go. Also it will stop sounding after 15 seconds if the bike is not being touched. So it's safe, and you don't have to worry about it going off all day!!!
MMcGRider any damage on the disc?, never happened to me, but happened to me once, bike was parked with the lock on and wanted to put on the middle kick stand
+leserpent90 She did me well was nice to ride. I brought a bandit at the same time as having her and while she was up for sell I had offers for the bandit, wish I kept her and sold the bandit.RS thanks for watching.
That shit happend to me once to, but I did not drop the bike. Result: bent disc, dented rim, damaged brake caliper and broken fork (ripped the brake bolt right out of it). And I took of with full throttle! After that you will never forget it again! (I hope so)
Dam dude expensive mistake. Don't think you would forget again after what you did, I nearly forgot again after this time I was set to ride off and thought about it lucky, now I don't use it. RS thanks for checking the vid out.
Like others have said, this is a disc lock win and rider fail. A quick pre-ride look over as well as idiot reminders prevent stuff like this from happening :D
I just got one of these, after watching this I'll be using my small disc lock with the lanyard to the handle bars aswell just to remind me the screamer is on, lol.
If I had a (real) bike like that, i would definitely spend a few bucks on a disc lock whit built in alarm. They also usually give a little warning blip if you move the bike.
Sorry mate but I almost wet myself laughing hahaha. Did this on my Zx6r the second week I Bought it! good thing it landed on my leg so no damage to the bike!
Put a rubber band around the two keys as soon as you arm you bike one being the ignition the other the alarm key. As soon as you walk out the two keys are stuck together reminding you hey what's this? Oh yea I have to unlock my alarm before I can ride. Very humbling and thank you very much I guess that lock did it job almost that owner didn't steal your bike now did he? Rofl but I didn't hear and alarm either for some reason when you touched your bike also. Why was that?
I have done it and my disc lock is not opening up after that. I can turn keys fully, but probably lock inside is not straight any longer so cant pull it off from disk. Any solution?
Most have a mechanisms with a locking hole that contain flat disc, they can turn when key is slightly in try and line them up if not, try playing with how far you can insert key, call a locksmith & a drill with a grinding attachment just be very careful, take disc/wheel off to project the rest of the bike.
There is a pin which goes inside one of wholes in disk, that pin I see moving once I rotate key 180 clockwise. But once I try to pull it out with help of key I cant. Seems like pin is not straight enough any longer, so doesn't go inside lock. Locksmith can help me with keys only I guess and I have both keys, that's y didnt call locksmith yet. Didn't know disc lock can be a terrible option. I was lucky I got this issue at home, not outside. Now I will buy a normal lock. What drill and grinding attachment u r suggesting,or locksmith can handle it better?
explain to the locksmith if you do not have any grinding tools i cant suggest any what ever you got they can drill the lock out or cut the dam thing off. The smith will do the sane really. Sorry cant be of much help other then this.
darkshad109 not anymore used to use that place to park up a lot that's. moved now and on Bandit 600 too, well kind of its still off the road at the moment, but looking for some thing new lol ;) Thanks for watching Ride Safe
@ukSway Ah no...sorry I was not at lidl trying to get a job I only park here, its most probably the way i wrote it. I just had a meeting with my advisor and to start work or my own business I only need a first aid certificate, was goner talk about this then Oops disc lock lol. I will check out your vlogs ty :)
+Mad Mat Lol yes I had a very bad microphone and cam set up at this time, only upload as this mistake was made and wouldn't other to avoid doing it or if others have done it they are not on there own :) RS & thank you for watching.
Your pride is gone. I had this happen today in front of i dont know how many people bent my shift lever, luckly a mechanic was near by asked to use a vice grip and unbent it. Our bikes can be fixed no matter how much you want to cry when it happens, but our pride is destroyed
+BytownRider Unlucky to do this in front of loads of people. When I did it there was not many people about at all but never mind as its up here now for all to see. Nice that you got the shift lever sorted, hope there was no other damage. RSM8
All you peeps out there saying nasty stuff about this guy, i'm sure you have all done the same thing. It was just a momentary lapse in concentration. I didn't drop my bike when i did it, but i still felt like a knob & i wasn't brave enough to put my head cam footage on UA-cam.
Thank you for the Great comment. I wanted to put this up so it gives some riders a heads up even tho the vid and sound are not good, I didn't think that there would be so many that have done the same. Glad you didn't drop yours. RS
That's why the alarm ones are best, saved me many times
But they cost like $600 dollars each how do you afford that thats half of what my bike costs
About £60-80 in the UK, also a good theft deterrent
tip: use ur disc lock on ur back wheel. 2 reasons. reason 1 ur front end is lighter than the rear if the locks on the front ppl can still take ur bike by lifting the front wheel from the ground its much harder for some thiefing scrote to move the bike while lifting the rear. reason 2 trying to ride off with the lock on the rear wheel (just incase you do this again) you will have less chance of the bike going down the way it did!
weird0018 Great point :) Thanks for the comment/tip and watching :)
a friend used to do something really horrible and put disc locks on peoples bikes.. needless to say he got fucked up one day and stopped doing it.
The disk lock didn't fail. Just saying.
What is sol if it fails, my disk lock has failed lol
The heading of your video is totally misleading, the disk lock passed in doing what it does the best... you FAILED.
haha ive always wondered what that coil coming from the disc lock to the handle bar was.. now i no :)
Just about to but one and thought I'd do some research. Thanks for the safety tip, that took balls to put yourself out there like that.
That's the reason why I only get alarmed locks. The alarm would have gone off before you even started the motorcycle.
I feel for you but I reckon that I would have pissed my sides laughing if I was nearby & saw what happened, well you've made me grin a bit.
Always good to make some one laugh, smile or even just grin a bit. Thanks man.
I don't feel so bad now lol. Great demo on how to pick it up though. Subbed.
This is why the ones with alarms are good, They are crap alarms but great for reminding you when you go to sit on your bike
I did that in a bike bay on a Guzzi 1100 - knocked every bike to the left of me over. What an embarassment.
+Dennis Greene Hope they was no damage done to your bike or the others. Bet you've never made that mistake again ;) Ride safe thank you for watching.
ive done this a few times you learn in the end get yourself a plastic clip going from the lock to the handlbar so you will see it when you get on the bike and you will remember to take it off then
Lifting the bike cruiser style, nice.
+Liam J Cheers man :) Nice easy way to lift a bike just wish it was a cruiser.Thank you for watching ;)
I always put a lock on the front wheel and a lock on the back wheel just next to the calipers so it can't move in either direction.
Glad that was it.. I now use a reminder cable on my Bandit with the disc lock
Thanx figurehead nicely put. Hope this reminds people to check they motorcycles before riding off. :)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL stuff happens but you have to laugh!
Hahaha. I've done that too, right outside a pub. I use a disc lock with a reminder chain on the bars now.
+Rob h I hope your bike was ok and not to many people in the pub :P I was lucky and not many around. Rs :)
Just watched some of your vids and seen it, hope the bike was alright. Ride safe
Subbed to ease the pain but also because you have a Honda. ;)
Fair play for putting this up easy done
luke scott Cheers man :) never done it since Lol
Yes, man, it happened me twice over the years and I got rid of that disc lock. The worst part is not the scratches but people laughing at you watching your bike on the floor, fuck them all!
I got lucky not many people around if any, just me and my old cam. I did the same and don't use that disc lock anymore. RS Thank you for the comment.
At least you know how to lift a bike! Meny don't. ;)
+Lasse Sukkerfar Ibsen Thank you, I hope others watch this and use the same way to lift. Thanks for watching :)
I bet he's had a lot of practice
+MMcGRider I never thought of lifting that way. Makes sense.
+Rogerborg Of course ask a passer-by if your totally stuck, but if people know how to left like this then most will never have to ask anyone and get the bike back up before even anyone has seen Lol.Thank you for watching. :)
You're welcome mate, safe riding.
Never put it where you can go more than an inch before it hits the fork or swingarm
Did the same thing on my SuperHawk. Had to spend $60(USD) on a new clutch lever! Luckily that was all that was wrong with it. Now I keep a piece of rubber over the ignition key when I use the disc lock.
and boom goes the dynamite...
always use reminder cable on mine
and that's why i have a cable reminder for mine lol
Thanks. I don't really use the disc lock much anymore, but you can get the reminder cables for them.
Nice Vids glad you and your bikes ok. subbed ;)
ouch that hurt, easy done glad u ok
Hint I was told when I got my first bike as well as the lanyard, put the disc lock as close up behind your caliper as you can. It stops the bike sooner so you are more likely to be moving slower/have you feet down/or even still pushing your bike and can be another factor to not forgetting. Saved me a couple of times.
I usually inspect my bike a few times before riding off, but still i'm hesitant to get disc locks for the reason shown in this video.
It's good you and your bike are ok!
Supposed to have a reminder lanyard on it.
Been there. Now have a bit of broken clutch lever for a key fob as a reminder.
That's Great idea, cheers :) Ride safe
@mwhite36 look at the "xenx xx-14" it's a disk lock with an alarm. So basically if you get on the bike, it will sound before you go. Also it will stop sounding after 15 seconds if the bike is not being touched. So it's safe, and you don't have to worry about it going off all day!!!
Whoopsy daisy
Nice
Main thing is your ok, and I also use a reminder cable to.
>>------------------------------> This is what I heard. "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, OH SHIT!..... HA HA! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!"
As I said once before, Its not about what I say its about what happened. Thank you for watching.
it had happened 2 me couple of times.. get a disk lock reminder. (by the way good sense of mood you have. congrats.)
Cheers, you have to laugh about it :)
MMcGRider any damage on the disc?, never happened to me, but happened to me once, bike was parked with the lock on and wanted to put on the middle kick stand
george jordan Sorry its took so long to get back to you been off you tube for awhile. No damage at all :)
ohhh god i would cry! lol
I would suggest you get something red to put on your handlebars to remind you that that lock is on I hope you didn't brake something shit
I did this the other day, except the bike landed on my foot and my little finger got trapped between the handle and the clutch lever! ouch!
Poor CB500S. :'(
I bought an identical one as my first bike a couple months ago.
+leserpent90 She did me well was nice to ride. I brought a bandit at the same time as having her and while she was up for sell I had offers for the bandit, wish I kept her and sold the bandit.RS thanks for watching.
been there done that
dam it man, at least you could laughed it off, i would of cried and i've only got a keeway 125
i would be spewing man bad luck haha
That shit happend to me once to, but I did not drop the bike. Result: bent disc, dented rim, damaged brake caliper and broken fork (ripped the brake bolt right out of it). And I took of with full throttle! After that you will never forget it again! (I hope so)
Dam dude expensive mistake. Don't think you would forget again after what you did, I nearly forgot again after this time I was set to ride off and thought about it lucky, now I don't use it. RS thanks for checking the vid out.
Even more expensive because it was an Ducati.
Like others have said, this is a disc lock win and rider fail. A quick pre-ride look over as well as idiot reminders prevent stuff like this from happening :D
@wiixboxpc Ty, She is fine no damage from this checked forks brakes ect.. to be safe :)
I just got one of these, after watching this I'll be using my small disc lock with the lanyard to the handle bars aswell just to remind me the screamer is on, lol.
Disc lock with the screamer is a good idea, and yup keep the lanyard on lol unlike me ;). Ride safe thanks for watching.
failing like a boss
I forgot mine once. Luckily, I was moving my bike backwards, so it just stopped it when it hit the suspension. The alarm went off... :D
+MihalisNavara Haha Nice very lucky. Ride safe
If I had a (real) bike like that, i would definitely spend a few bucks on a disc lock whit built in alarm. They also usually give a little warning blip if you move the bike.
true biker, dose not make fun of other bikers bad luck
Happened once to me too. lol except I didn't drop the bike.
+Mifody Georgic Lucky, I thought I would go all out didn't want to do half a job Lol :P. Thanks for the comment and watching :)
Sorry mate but I almost wet myself laughing hahaha. Did this on my Zx6r the second week I Bought it! good thing it landed on my leg so no damage to the bike!
Taylor Livingston Nice to hear there was no damage. haha you have to laugh about it what else can you do. rsm8
Yeah, I've done that too!
u should use with a red cord attached to your handlebar
it works perfectly!
You tried to do it properly :P Hope there was no damage.
Cheers for watching.
Today I did exactly the same :) What a shame!
Why was that?
so that's what happens if you try to go with a lock on your brake disk, good to know :D
Urrgh.. I did this today... luckily I only bent the gear changer a little bit. God I feel stupid.
I have done it and my disc lock is not opening up after that. I can turn keys fully, but probably lock inside is not straight any longer so cant pull it off from disk. Any solution?

Ouch
I doubt they will too as I have not had that bike for a long time. This vid was taken in London and you never know what people would want to steal.
You will only do this once! hopefully
Hope so, learnt my lesson :)
