Due to lots of comments about the thermal fuse, the following note will be pinned to the top to help folks. The thermal fuse on electric dryers is not on the heat circuit; it is on the drive circuit. This means that if the thermal fuse is bad, the dryer won't start at all. We have another video on electric dryers that don't start. Good luck!
Just fixed. my dryer. Based on your video analysis I determined it was the timer. Instead of buying a new timer I saw someone in the comments mentioned that the contacts might need to be cleaned. So I took the timer apart and noticed that when I spun the dial one set of contacts were not touching. So I gently bent the copper contact so it would touch at the appropriate spot of the dial spin and the dryer was back in business. Plus I super cleaned it when I did my evaluations and Nnow it works like new. I WIN!!! Thanks for the good video.
Best, most helpful comment on this thread! I wish you could upload pics also so folks could see the contacts. But I took the timer apart, and sure enough, the copper lead from the same exact problem lead (red wire) in this self-help video was slightly corroded! It was kind of flaky and gummy! So anyway, I cleaned and scraped the contact pellets on each of the leads in the timer and WAH-LAH! It gave continuity! Put everything back together, and HEAT!!! So thank you, this repair costed me nothing but about 1.5 hour of time disassembling, checking continuity of items from this video, cleaning the timer lead pellets, and putting it back together! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! UA-cam is an awesome tool!
I'm going to check my timer. I bought all the fuses and everything and new heating element plugged it in hoping for heat and still no heat so after me working on appliances a little bit in the past I figured the last thing it would be is a timer it's a 2002 model roper so I mean obviously it's got age on it so I'm going to check it to confirm or not confirm. Thank you for your video, now I know how to check a timer.
I can't thank you enough for this video! Our dryer was spinning fine but stopped drying and heating up a MONTH after warranty expired! I was was like "Aww... F*#^!!!" I had absolutely NO IDEA what was inside that thing! I was was looking at a $200.00 service call (just for the VISIT!) Turned out the wire to the heating element crimp connector was bad. I took it off, cleaned the wire, put on a new crimp connector, and was done in an hour and a half. (And 45 minutes of that was spent going to Lowes to pick up the crimp connector and some electrical tape! All said and done, I fixed my dryer (something I NEVER thought I could do) for less than $15.00 ...THANKS TO YOU!! GOD BLESS!!
Thank you sir! You just helped me help a police mans widow be able to afford to fix her machine. Guy offered to swap it out for $200 with five year warranty. She doesnt have it. Watched this video and took my multimeter over to find out it was a $17 thermostat. I let her buy my lunch. (Burger no fries or drink) Again thank you sir and UA-cam. Due to YT I have replaced several car parts. $1100 in mechanical labor. Three hot water tanks (weekend rates saved all three times) Switched a gas stove to 220v by capping gas line and running new power from panel. Replaced breakers in two houses. And removed half dozen sebaceous cysts from my body. Currently watching videos on molar extractions. (Might leave that to the pros though) Appreciate the help and so does mrs. Gloria.
That's a nice blessing. He deserves it. Just fixed an adopted widow's dryer for $17 and a burger. Thermostat gave out. She was gonna replace it for $200 w/trade. Which she does not have. UA-cam talented!
Brother i owe you a big one!!! My dryer has been killing a heating element ever 11 to 14 months but this time it was the safety thermostat. I took the lint shoot off and it was almost completely stopped up coming out if the drum and from there to my outside exhaust was matted about an inch thick. I praise god it quit when it did and the safety worked as designed cause i was headed for a house fire. Thanks man. YOU SAVE MY HOUSE AND MY FAMILY!! PEOPLE CLEAN OUT YOUR LINT SHOOT, PAY SOMEONE, DO WHATEVER YOU GOT TO. THOSE THINKS FROM WALMART AND HOME DEPOT DONT WORK!!!
Love these guys who go calmly about explaining how to diagnosis and fix problems instead of playing stupid music and wasting time with nonsensical banter. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this and other videos. Hope you and your business are thriving.
Great, Great Video. It is people like you that helps millions of people save money. I am surprised there is not a million likes. You have helped me with my whirlpool. As a renter who has to pay for washer/dryer maintenance, thos is a game changer. I urge all renters and home owner to watch this video
OCT 2024. My Whirlpool Dryer Model # WED4850HW0 stopped heating. After successfully repairing a Washing Machine and a Dishwasher using UA-cam I decided to try my luck. This video was exactly what was needed to identify and fix the dryer. I had to buy a Multimeter tester at HD ($18) and I then followed the steps exactly as done in the video. There was no issue with my vent or any of the circuits I tested. So it was most likely the timer. I ordered a new timer assembly from Appliance Parts Pros ($115) and it arrived two days later. It was an easy to swap out the old failed timer assembly with the new one. Before putting the machine back together I tested it and it operated just like it should. This video is the prefect example of how to help DIY / homeowners troubleshoot and repair a dryer. Thanks!
20oct2024. Just digging into my whirlpool. Simple durable construction. Upper limit open. Imaging the transistor filled nonsense in lg samsung. My wp is 30 years old and will outlive me
We have a whirlpool electric dryer. I am certified in hvac, and I also worked electrical maintenance in heavy industry. I was leery about taking the dryer apart to troubleshoot everything. Your video is very helpful since I never did much work on appliances. Thank you for the procedure and explaining each component's function. You helped me a lot here. I'm retired and recently lost my motivation to do this kind of work. I got bitched out tonight since I've been letting this go. The machine heats but the heating is poor. First thing I'll check is for lint build up. Like I said the machine does dry, but the clothes are damp sometime at the end of the cycle. Might bet on lint build up..
Thank for the intro into my appliance repair career. Or my first time fixing a dryer. I love that I was able to fix my brother’s dryer instead of having him buy a new one. He is on a fixed income and anytime I can save him money, it makes me happy. Plus, it was fun! I was an electrician so I know how to use tools, but never fixed an appliance in my life until now, thanks to you.
With your very clear step by step approach we were able to test and determine that the thermostat was bad. Ran to the parts store, bought the kit and replaced both thermostats. You saved us hundreds on repair or replacement. Thank you so much!!
Fantastic video! I never would have thought the timer was the issue, but sure enough it was. To better confirm the diagnosis, while measuring the resistance across the timer terminals, I moved the knob forwards and backwards until I caught a section of the rotation that was conducting across the terminals. In that position, I reconnected, fired up the dryer and sure enough heat worked - and as soon as I rotated the knob (still in heat cycle) the heat turned off. For this kind of intermittent heating issue, I'd suggest rotating the dial through the cycle while testing the continuity to be sure the timer is truly OK.
I did exactly as he instructed and it worked just like he said it would. The part cost me $11 on amazon, took 2 days for it to arrive and 15 minutes to install and test. I got heat immediately. I appreciate this guy.
Super helpful!!! Followed this tutorial to identify that it was my timer also not working. Ordered a replacement and installed it today. We’re back in business 🔥🔥🔥 with a dryer blowing hot air again. Amen 🙏🏻. Thanks guys from a single DIY mom just trying to get by.
A Thousand Thank Yous! I( suspected it was my timer, because the problem initially affected the 'High Heat - Timed Dry' area of the dial, then it stopped heating altogether. Took me 5 minutes to pull off the back, and another 5 to diagnose in the exact same order as the video. I ordered a replacement from Amazon for $60. Installed it in two minutes, and am now good to go. Such a relief that I don't have to pay for a new dryer or a repair visit. THANK YOU!!
Thanks for the video. I just found the same issue, all my sensors and coil checked out, still no heat. Used this video to trace it to the timer. Pulled the timer out, and discovered, you can pull it apart. Remove the two screws holding the winder clock in place and carefully pull it and the cover plate off. You now have access to the contacts. I used a small jewelers file, much like an old school points file. An emery fine emery board would be ideal. I found one really worn contact, and another from a lesser used setting that was also not making heat. Cleaned them up, blew out the metal filings and put it back together. It's working again. Mine is a Whirpool WED5200VQ1 model for reference. My timer unit looks very similar to the one in the video. Thanks Byrd Appliance for the help. I understand you can't open a part and show how to repair for liability reasons. File those contacts at your own risk, and blow out those filings, even with just a puff a breath, and don't fret. These worn contacts can be refurbished. Worth a try before a $80-$100 timer part change in my garage anyway. Still testing, verdict not out, but those contacts are now much cleaner and making contact and my dryer has heat again.
Mine is a Whirpool WED4800XP0. The timer and connections looked just like the one in this video. My red wire contact had no continuity just like this video! I took mine apart also (careful to take pictures of everything when you take it apart in case something drops out). Very easy. Sure enough, the little pellet contact for the red wire was slightly corroded and gummed up! I cleaned it with an emery board and scraped it a bit with a utility knife. Checked continuity, and it was working again! Put it all back together and now it has HEAT!!! This video and your (and others) comments about disassembling the timer are GOLD! Should save a lot of folks a lot of money on either service calls or a brand new dryer! Thanks for posting your experience!
I just want to say THANK YOU for this video!! I had no idea what I was doing but after watching this, I went and bought a meter and figured out that it was the top thermostat and had it fixed in 30 min. I probably paid to much at $35 here in town rather than the internet for the part but I'm a family of 6 and can't wait around for parts to come in the mail. My dryer was only 26 months old so it was really frustrating but I saved a ton of money because of this video. Thank you!!
Thank you so much @Byrd appliances! I am a DIYer but had no idea how to diagnose and fix my dryer. When I got to the timer and discovered an open circuit I was so relieved. After I replaced it and tested the dryer....HEAT! I am thrilled. Thank you again. Saved me $150 on a service call, or a new $600-700 dryer.
This is what happened to our dryer. I borrowed a multi-meter, followed your instructions. My test showed that the timer switch was faulty. I bought a new one and installed it. Dryer now works like new! Thank you so much for this video! You saved me a bunch of cash.
Of all the videos that I have looked at. Yours is the only one to check the switch on the timer to the heater. I had run out of options until I found your video. Thanks a bunch. I took the timing switch apart and found the point for the A terminal had been arcing. There were arc marks inside the plastic case for the timer.
This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).
Thanks for the video. The video has great value. I'm a DIY'er, with a framework of knowledge and a deficit of experience. I would find this video even better is the hand didn't block what what the multi-meter prongs were contacting. Also, the setting on the multi-meter and a very brief explanation would be good to remind me what I've forgotten between my last repair with a multi-meter. Excellent delivery! Thanks!
Got my dryer going in two days, one to figure out what was blown and one more to find the parts & install them. One thermal cutoff & thermostat later and we're back in business. Thank you so much for your clear & easy to follow video.
Glad I found this video. This is one of the very few that mentions the timer. I unplugged the wires and tested it and it said the switch was ok. I was frustrated because I had tried everything else. For the hell of it I plugged the timer back in and tested it and it worked! Maybe the plug had just become a bit too loose from many years of shaking?
@@rickobrien4025 YUP! I was surprised too, but that was the case! Took mine apart (see other comments) and cleaned the contact leads and it started heating again like a charm!
Thank you so much for this video. I have bought and traded out 2 different sets of heating elements and thermostats trying to sole the freaking problem for like a week. No other videos I have watched has gone into the dial being the problem and that was exactly it. You are amazing. GOD BLESS YOU
Thank you! Saw plenty of videos explaining how to diagnose all the possible continuity issues on the heating circuit, but no one went over the timer. That was, in fact, my problem. Thanks!!
Amazing wished you were in my area, the dryer just stopped working & have not found anyone that know what you do...will have to buy anew dryer, sorry there is no one like my Dad or you that learn how to fix things. Was wonderful to see you repair the dryer. Thank you
Thank you! I'm confident enough to fumble my way through this system but watching your video gave me names for the "sensors" in the system. Found an open heating element. A good cleaning and a parts kit will have it running Wednesday. Thanks again.
Thanks for the vid! I'm an appliance repair apprentice, and these vids are extremely useful! Another trick to getting those nasty plugs/connectors out, is to poke something small/round into the small hole on that connector..they come out extremely easy once you do that. Works every time
After buying the heating element, thermal fuse, both thermostats and still not working...I was at my wits end. Saw this video and went and got me a multi meter and sure enough, my old parts were good! And my new ones as well (obviously) but it was the timer! Thanks for the video!
In this video, the best thing to note, is that breakers can fail (half aside at a time), so if your unit is only seeing half the voltage, it will only perform half of the job.. Like spinning, but not drying. Always make sure your breaker box is up to par, before you go throwing parts and time at an appliance repair. Otherwise you could be running in circles from the start, if an old circuit breaker, proves to be the issue.
This is a great video, did this today and fixed my dryer. I started by changing the little parts in the back and the thermal fuse, dryer didn’t work till I changed the stuff on the gas valve. This guy make it look really easy. My concern was getting the belt back on, so far so good, hasn’t slipped off yet.
Thank you so much for posting this video! You showed me how to test for the real problem instead of going out and buying a new heater coil. You saved me a lot of money. Thank You So Much!!!
Awesome video, no crappy music or computer generated voice stating the obvious just pure facts and knowledge from a real expert. Check the timer!!! Every other video leaves that out! Best Dryer fix UA-cam video by far, Byrd is the word!
I have same dryer, and was stumped as I tested everything below and could not find an issue, until I tested pins A-C as you suggested on timer. Just like your video, there was no continuity. Thank you for this!
Thanks for a thorough video. The little demo on the power supply was what I needed because all the sensors checked perfect as well as the timer. I thought the pigtail had gone bad, but it turned out to be one of the mounting screws (black one) holding the pigtail to the connecting plate had lost connection - loose, I guess. Meter showed no power there but full power at the outlet. I would not have considered it if not for your video.
Awesome video man 🤙🏽 cleaned the dryer inside, checked all the thermostats and the problem was the timer.Replaced it for $60 and all it took was less than an hour...thanks a bunch !
I think yours is the best and most informative repair video I have seen. Thank you for making it. I did not determine my problem, but I will continue to search.
Thanks so much for your video. I repaired my drier for less than $150 bucks. Initially the drier wouldn’t start, then I found out it wouldn’t dry as well and your video helped guide me to fixing it 👍😊
Thx! My timer arced at high heat connections so I replaced it and I also replaced the high heat thermal fuse. Before I plugged the dryer up, I watched your video and saw that I had connected the high heat thermal fuse wires backwards. Thx to this video I realized this and reconnected correctly hoping to avoid burning that fuse out again.
I wanna say thanks for sharing this video. Before I watched this I went ahead and ordered the heating element. However it didn’t fix the problem. When I watched your video and you showed the checks. I was able to find out that my high temp thermostat was faulting out. (No Continuity) well I’m glad I replaced the thermostat and the heating element like you said. Thanks for sharing. You saved me a lot of money...
My wife told me that the auto dry wasn’t advancing. However, the timer was advancing on the other timer modes, but there was no heat at any setting. It turns out the thermal fuse was blown. Once that was replaced, the dryer had heat but the auto dry still did not work properly until the cycling thermostat was replaced. Thanks for the video.
Can you talk more about the centrifical switch on the motor? I've replaced just about everything else except the motor but my dryer is still taking 2+ cycles to dry loads
Thanks, straight to the point, with no BS like removing scews. Tuns out I evidently had a trifecta, with one leg of the breaker not having power, the upper limit thermostat out, and the lower thermostat fried to the point the terminal broke off. Reset the breaker, replaced the parts, cleaned of some dust, and the now working fine.
Awesome video, followed your steps from start to finish and surely enough it was the timer switch which was malfunctioning, replaced and now working beautifully. Thank you
Awesome video! Helped me identify a bad heating element in my mom's Whirlpool dryer - all the thermostats and the timer switch was good, but wasnt getting continuity on the heating element terminals. Opened it up, and sure enough the the wire in the heating coil had broken. Thanks for the help!
Thanks for posting! Was able to narrow it down to the timer. I just happened to have kept all the usable parts off another dryer that was very similar, so I used the timer from that one and got mine going again. It wasn't EXACTLY the same, but nothing a little splicing and a couple of incantations couldn't fix. Thanks again! Good video!
We were about to agree on getting a new dryer when I watched this video. Since it was intermittent, I didn’t bother checking for open heating elements. I played with the timer position while the dryer was running, I heard a slight extra noise, a very faint sound that was likely the element expanding from heating. Sure enough, the dryer started getting hot again. I will probably need to replace the timer. The intermittent proper operation was likely when we placed the timer in a manner to make proper contact and start the heating process. Some issues may not be easy as this one.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video Tim. It is my timer that has gone bad. I just opened it and found a contact that was burnt up. Thanks again.
You sir are awesome. THANK YOU for taking the time to post. I was able to figure out that all thermostats are good in mine and it was the switch. Not only are you saving people money but also saving the environment.
TIM great job Thank you I have a whirlpool did the check you showed and it is a bad heating element, when i removed it you can visibly see the broken coils so for $34 i saved over $350! Thank you man!
Thanks for putting it in terms I can understand! Lots of thirty minute videos and terrible to navigate forums have made this a nightmare. You made it easy to see and understand in less than ten minutes
Just bought a new Timer switch and that fixed my Dryer after testing all the other parts you show to test ,thanks to this video. I even have a multi meter from harbor freight I got years ago for free (when they had free things).
You saved my butt...I think. I was following your video with a voltage meter. And happened to find some loose screws around where the power cord attaches to the machine. I tightened them up. Then I checked the breaker box and found a tripped breaker. I left the back off, plugged it in, and started it. The element glowed bright orange. So, I'm guessing it was was loose wires and a tripped breaker. Going to run a load of launder and check it out. Thank you.
Thank you sir. Here on the canadian east coast. Everything checks out... my worry now is the centrifugal switch you're refering to! I get heat randomly so really not sure!
this video is very helpful. I didn't know that the heating element would register higher resistance than baseline. other videos said that continuity required ohm reading to be close 0 (or baseline). you saved me $90 dollars!
Thank you sir. Followed the instructions. Turns out my old Roper I just received was clogged with Matt's off dust. Vacuumed everything, plugged it in turned it on to see if heat coils were working and they were. Problem solved.
Thank you so much. All those thermal sensors had continuity and I didn't know what else to check. I watched your video and sure enough the timer was bad just like the one in the video. Same dryer. Thank you for helping! Bless you!
Mine had a scarf shread up and must've created enough lint to keep it from heating up. The lint filter keeps filling up every couple minutes. So I had to take a peek at how this type of unit with the top filter is accessed. Thanks for the vid.
Their comment was exactly right about the fuse as they know! On mine the thermal fuse went and the dryer wouldn't start or Anything. 3 days after that the heat completely stopped which is why I'm writing to say thank you for such a good thorough instructive video and I'll be going through these steps tomorrow. Much appreciated!
I’ve been reading the comments and boy I wish some of you men lived by me to help me out with my dryer not heating..it kills me to have to pay top notch for an actual appliance guy😢I’m on a fixed income..
Well done video but for newbies that dont know ow to use a multimiter wont work hope you explain more next time other than that you are so freaking awesome man you make this easy thanks
You are the man! You did such a great job explaining everything in a way that even I could understand and follow. Many thanks and I too had a timer issue. Thanks to you I was able to diagnose the actual problem and repair it for less than what I would have paid for just the service call alone. Many thanks!
Thanks! I was able to figure out my heat sensor was bad from this video. I had changed out my heating element after it broke only for it to not work long and it quit heating again. I did the tests and was so glad to find it was an easy fix
This video. And $48 dollars in parts fixed my dryer. Thank you very much. For me it was those two thermostats. Both didn't have continuity. Swapped out. Works better than ever.
Thank you for the video! My dryer wasn't heating but everything else worked. all the fuses passed and the element appeared good. in your video you said something about checking the outlet volts that if the volts were off it might run but not heat. I hadn't checked that since I knew I had power. Sure enough the dryer had two breakers and only one had been flipped. Put everything back together and it works again!
Thank you for the help! Fought with my dryer for 2 days and after your video I was able to pinpoint a bad NEW part I had installed....upper thermostat was bad when I installed it.
Will the timer not working also cause the dryer not to heat? I know my timer is bad because it won't move off the initial "start" setting... no matter how long it runs (the first time we caught it doing this last week, the dryer ran all night long...). It's also stopped heating, so I wonder if replacing the timer will fix both issues. I have already replaced the cycling thermostat hoping that was the fix, and it did nothing to help either issue. Thanks!
Great video. I have a whirlpool that dies during a cycle. Even though the breaker doesn't pop, manually resetting it is the only thing that works on getting the dryer working again. It does get heat though.
Great video! I'll look to yours first in the future. All of the other videos I watched focused on everything except the timer. I replaced that stuff and it worked intermittently. I suspected the timer and looked at the price to replace it. I could tell my wife was getting the red ass at my tinkering and Memorial Day sales had dryers on sale for a couple hundred over the part price so... If I'd only known how to test the timer. Thanks again!
Good luck!
Awesome info. I bought a fuse also, but didn't need to after watching this. I do have power and it spins.
Great info
Possible are y'all going to buy me a washer and dryer
Their mind me a washer and dryer
Hi dear, My Kenmore fridge fan and compressor are running but no cooling and freezing at all? Would you please let me know what's going on?
Just fixed.
Had the same issue, just bent the contact slightly and got heat right away. Thanks for all the knowledge share !

Going to try today.Thanks
Best, most helpful comment on this thread! I wish you could upload pics also so folks could see the contacts. Watched this video and took my multimeter over to find out it was a $17 thermostat. I let her buy my lunch. (Burger no fries or drink)
Again thank you sir and UA-cam.
Due to YT I have replaced several car parts. $1100 in mechanical labor.
Three hot water tanks (weekend rates saved all three times)
Switched a gas stove to 220v by capping gas line and running new power from panel.
Replaced breakers in two houses.
And removed half dozen sebaceous cysts from my body.
Currently watching videos on molar extractions. (Might leave that to the pros though)
Appreciate the help and so does mrs. Gloria.
Just fixed my dryer and saved 120$ by doing it myself!! Thank you sir, may your pillow always be cold 🙌🏻
That's a nice blessing. He deserves it. Just fixed an adopted widow's dryer for $17 and a burger.

100%. Very concise.
Holy shit you saved me a lot of time and hassle with this comment
It's my lower thermostat! I never thought I would see the day when I would be fixing my own dryer! Thank you so much for this video!!!!!
Good for you! It really makes a difference when someone explains as clearly as this man does.
Feel Same here. I couldn’t believe this fixed my dryer.

Thank you for doing that for your brother.
I appreciate this guy.
ua-cam.com/video/XaQcHfBEJWU/v-deo.html This works!
What was wrong on yours?
These older mechanical dryers are really the best ones in my opinion you can easily fix them yourself and they last longer
THANK YOU!!
Worked like a charm!!! My husband was ready to put my dryer on the curbside and I watched your video a fixed it myself🙋♀️
Can't thank you enough!!!!
olgalydia73 you are a keeper, lucky he is.
You go girl! I bet your husband felt great about that. Lol.
haha. I hope you have him a hard time about it.
Well now we know who wears the pants in the house
man card revoked hahah... i bet the marriage was a lil rough for a few days eh? lol just kidding. good job
or
he just wanted a new dryer haha
Thank you!!
Great job. Glad to help.
You guys are awesome even 6 years later! Thanks for the knowledge and your kindness to share.
Saved me a service call and probably a new dryer. Tested with volt meter, the high limit was out, replaced and immediately worked. Thank you!!
The TIMER made the dryer not heat ?
@@rickobrien4025 YUP! I was surprised too, but that was the case! Took mine apart (see other comments) and cleaned the contact leads and it started heating again like a charm!
Mine was the upper thermostat. I fixed my own, thanks for this video, I fixed my drier for 14.75.
Just had to replace the timer on my Kenmore 400. This video taught me exactly how to diagnose and resolve. Thanks very much for the step by step help.
Thanks!!
Thanks for this video. Dryer just went out and with your video came to the conclusion my heating element went out. Again thank you!
Amazing wished you were in my area, the dryer just stopped working & have not found anyone that know what you do...will have to buy anew dryer, sorry there is no one like my Dad or you that learn how to fix things. Was wonderful to see you repair the dryer. Thank you
Men like yourself make UA-cam a valuable resource! Thank you
Dude you saved me $500 from buying a new dryer!!!! Thank you so much. My problem was the timer also.
This video has helped me fix my dryer twice over the last few years. Thanks for a great instructional video!
I'll make sure that I have a solid 240 volt output on it. I have a 240 volt light bulb that I could use for this test.
He mentioned that already
This is a great video, did this today and fixed my dryer.
I started by changing the little parts in the back and the thermal fuse, dryer didn’t work till I changed the stuff on the gas valve.
This guy make it look really easy.
My concern was getting the belt back on, so far so good, hasn’t slipped off yet.
Thank you so much for posting this video! You showed me how to test for the real problem instead of going out and buying a new heater coil. You saved me a lot of money. Thank You So Much!!!
This is the best tutorial I’ve found online by far! Thank you for taking the time to explain in detail
Awesome video, no crappy music or computer generated voice stating the obvious just pure facts and knowledge from a real expert. Check the timer!!! Every other video leaves that out! Best Dryer fix UA-cam video by far, Byrd is the word!
well done dude, thanks. you helped me figure out my problem and inspired me to overcome my irrational fear of putting probes into ac outlets
I have same dryer, and was stumped as I tested everything below and could not find an issue, until I tested pins A-C as you suggested on timer. Just like your video, there was no continuity. Thank you for this!
Thank you for posting this video. You filled in the gap in my knowledge that helped me fix our dryer.
Ui
I wanna say thanks for sharing this video. Before I watched this I went ahead and ordered the heating element. However it didn’t fix the problem. When I watched your video and you showed the checks. I was able to find out that my high temp thermostat was faulting out. (No Continuity) well I’m glad I replaced the thermostat and the heating element like you said. Thanks for sharing. You saved me a lot of money...
Thank you for the step by step! My failure was the timer. I took it apart filed the contacts that were burnt, A & C and we are good to go! 👍🏻
Saved me a lot of money. Diagnosed while watching the video. Ordered part for 30 bucks. Dryer back working great. 👍👍.
Thank you
Thank you! I followed your instruction and was able to repair my clothes dryer! It's running great now! Thank you!
Man! I never comment on tutorials. But that was a great one. Helped me alot.
Totally didn't recognize you until i saw the yellow dirt bike. Your channel has helped with my s dirt bike and now my dryer. Thank you brother
At 1:54 I wish you showed what u were doing with the prongs of that multimeter. I have never used one and have purchased one for this exact instance.
I wish he would say or show what the multi-meter is supposed to be reading so we know what's normal and whats not .
Good video!
Watched your video yesterday, made the diagnosis, bought the parts and fixed it today - THANK YOU!
I like where his hands block where the leads go....really helps clear things up
TIM great job Thank you I have a whirlpool did the check you showed and it is a bad heating element, when i removed it you can visibly see the broken coils so for $34 i saved over $350! Thank you man!
This was extremely helpful! Thank you!
"It would be helpful if I had it on ohms..."
Story of my life!
This guy is awesome, just a down to earth explanation. 1:58 Loved that fact they left that in. It's something I would totally do not thinking.
Thank you! I found the issue and repaired the problem with a $5 part. Saved me a ton of time and money.
this video is very helpful.
Thankyou for you share ,Welcom visit my company.Mybe get more choice. www.cnyuy.com
Love that spinning it around sound. I want to be able to project that horrible sound when people make me annoyed.
Thanks!
I have the same problem and question
Excellent video! Just like being on site and learning from a pro. I would have never found the faulty dial on my dryer otherwise. Cheers!
It would have been nice to see what you were doing with the Multimeter when checking the voltage levels :)
Right I can’t see
Set dial to read AC (Alternating Current) voltage. All you need to know.
