Ahhh.... so it was Brian Slagel who directed Lars' attention to Cliff and not some stoke of destiny as Lars would like for all of us to believe. If I'm not mistaken, Slagel did the same in bringing Jason to the band's attention immediately following Cliff's passing. Brian Slagel doesn't get nearly enough credit for the success of Metallica as he should.
VredesStall oh..cause their were no good bass players but cliff n pic boy jason ? At either time ? Your high. The riffs drums n lyrics sold the band. Each n every album.
Megadeth's music is masterful and their lyrics are brilliant and cynical, but they lack the emotional depth Metallica had. I never felt any seriously dark or emotional tone listening to a Megadeth record, and this is by and large because of Dave's vocals.
We can learn lots of things from dave mustaine...he is a source of inspiration for all kind of human beings...he did he is doing and he will do......DREAM=METALLICA=KICKED OUT=DEPRESSION=SELF RESPECT=MEGADETH=SUCCESS=INSPIRATION=LIVING LEGEND=DAVE MUSTAINE.....✌️✌️

Well there was the time he poured the beer on Ron's bass, then there was the time Dave's dog jumped on Ron's car and James kicked it and Dave beat his ass. I'm not sure which happened first.
i seen metallica 4 times .. every song is my favorite.. im 60 years old. and i still rock.. and when i go to algodones to the green door i play metallica.. keep rocking you older music..
This was likely the best live performance of Kill em All, post Dave Mustaine! Dave brought many of these fave songs to Metallica. They grooved perfectly for the fast & furious metal shredding for the 80's! Their competition was glamour metal with occasional riffs but not so much head-bangin but as much chick-based! Metallica drew the harder rockers away to their own brand of metal which lyrics were as true as the music it was intertwined with. I can't believe it's been almost 40 yrs since I first heard Metallica, then Anthrax & Megadeath! But those times are difficult to beat! I'm grateful I was a 7th grader when they evolved! They came not long after after AC/DC! I was happy when Dave was no longer w/Metallica! I knew he was an awesome musician, but he did party a bit in excess. When they parted, it likely saved his life! He was able to command his own destiny with Megadeath! Imagine there never being such a band as Megadeath? He was destined to create his own niche in Metal History! I can give a shit about who said what? I was displeased when Jason was gone too! But he needed some space to grow for himself too! They are all Metal Gods!
Mustaine was on another level. Mustaine taught Hetfield almost every single riff and chord yet Hetfield still remains as an "average" rhythm guitar player. Compare the rhythm sections in Metallica and Megadeth, it's a no brainer. Not to mention the Spider Chord. Hammet and Metallica got famous at the expense of Mustaine, they could of asked him to stop drinking, a second chance would of been nice but in the end Metallica made the RIGHT decision. Because now we have Megadeth.
I always pass by that abandoned building on Archer Ave on my daily commute, but I had no idea anything significant was ever there. Crazy to think about.
it is very interesting to imagine what metallica would be if dave mustaine had never got kicked out.. But on the other hand, there is no words for what Dave Mustaine made for Megadeth \m/
I think it's amazing how this music needed to be invented. It just seems like something that should exist, not like some discovery. Nowadays, there isn't too many bands that come up with something new (and good) it's all just influenced by previous bands. There doesn't seem to be another genre that could be invented, we've ran out of ideas.
"The band became an underground sensation." If Cliff had never died, Metallica would be as awesome as ever. There would be no Load, Black Album or, oh god, St Anger...They'd still be genuine underground thrashers. Sure, they wouldn't have money to wipe their ass with, or their big houses and such, but they'd be a pure 100 % thrash metal band to the fucking core.
Probably not. Cliff liked all different kinds of music. Pink Floyd, ZZ Top, classical. Even James has said that cliff didn’t make them fast. Fuck even mop is not “pure thrash.”

All I have to say is Long Live Megadeth!!🤘🤘. Can't even imagine what it would have been like? Dave getting kicked out was the best thing that could happen!
I never understood Lars in these old interviews in regard to Mustaine. He comes off as so fucking cold and smug knowing that he had always kept in contact with Dave even after Dave's firing. Know YEARS have passed and they are friends now, but just the fact that Lars comes off that way at a time when the interview was conducted and they did in fact keep in touch during that time - just never understood it.
I was in high school when Kill Em All came out. I'll never forget it. I've followed them ever since and I'll dare to say I enjoy everything they do even to this day. I own all their albums plus some. You have to understand that artists evolve over time and they cannot stay the same indefinitely. So did they sell out with he Black album? I don't think so. It was part of their artistic evolution into adults and men. Death Magnetic was very crunchy and I thought it was excellent. But I admit it would be cool for them to do a retrospective album maybe revisiting some old school ideas. I think the only band I know of that has remained the same with their particular formula is AC/DC. Every album they make is so AC/DC and they have a formula they stick to. I think it works for them but their most recent albums are not so popular even though they are still very good. My 2 cents anyway.... LOL ;) Come get some Catspit~!
Jeremy Robertson Are you serious right now? Nuclear Blast, the label that distributes half the metal in Europe, including In Flames and fucking NIGHTWISH, is a “tiny little indy label?” You lost absolutely all credibility with that lame-ass statement. And by the way, I don’t know where you live, but Symphony of Destruction off yes, “Countdown to Extinction” was FUCKING HUGE. All over MTV (which meant something in those halcyon days of 1992), and all over the radio, even here in Memphis, TN, which has the worst radio market for a city of over a million people in the nation. If it’s on the radio here, you better believe it’s fucking mainstream. Sorry, dude, you’re just wrong. Hate Metallica if you want, that’s your right, but making up shit to make the bands you like somehow look more “real” or whatever just makes you look like an asshole. And an incorrect one, at that. An embarrassment to humanity? Maybe not, that’s a bit much, but wrong? Most definitely.

Dave doesn't hate metallica as much the fans push the hating 🤷🏻♂️
That’s weird,
Just say you love his music.
To hear Cliff's voice again, man. It's like god is giving you direction from a higher plain. Such a beautiful soul. ❤🤘
Ahhh.... so it was Brian Slagel who directed Lars' attention to Cliff and not some stoke of destiny as Lars would like for all of us to believe.
Each n every album.
hardradio.com...Slagel was the internets FIRST metal radio station -- still kickin azz....
Just another metal merchant!!
And Dave went on to form a harder, faster, more technical and in my humble opinion better band Megadeth. The rest is history.
Megadeth's music is masterful and their lyrics are brilliant and cynical, but they lack the emotional depth Metallica had. I never felt any seriously dark or emotional tone listening to a Megadeth record, and this is by and large because of Dave's vocals.
Well thats just like, your opinion man
@@ihsahnakerfeldt9280 what a comment
Megadeth is Metallica's gay younger brother lol. On top of that, James actually knows how to sing (beautifully), and not like a dying cat like Dave.
@@TThatsWhatSheSaid1 other way around! Metalli who sucks without DAVE in the band! MEGADETH is 100 times better than metalli who!!!!

So glad Dave landed on his feet, it was ruthless how he was treated, imagine just about to go into a studio and record an album, this is your big chance in life, he had nothing...apparently he sold everything to live his dream...and then your dumped just before you go into the studio and to top it off they use your songs to get them on..not only that kirk pretty much just copied Dave's solos for kill em all..and they send him on a 4 day trip back home on a shitty bus...so long Dave....thanks a lot Dave....they didn't careless if he topped himself, and to rub salt in the wound they use his songs on the 2nd album too!!!!...and people wonder why Dave was so bitter for so long??? as much as i love Metallica that was a shitty thing to do...if that was me i would of fucking shot em...so glad he made it.
Kirk didn't have much of a choice. Dave shouldn't have been so crazy and annoying. He's whiny.
***** i bet if the same thing was done to you, you would cry too, so stfu.
Pedro Lopes Fuck you, it wouldn't happen because I'm not a fucking psycho when I drink alcohol. And I don't do the crazy ass drugs that he was constantly doing. He had to be kicked out, and he was a bitch after it happened. So stfu.

Cliffs dad joke about his son was awesome...he knew his sons significance...cliff is the Goat...period 😎
I'm just thankful that the end result was not one, but two legendary metal bands.

Ron made a very bad decision to leave.
But. Cliff
He quit because of Mustains wild drinking and I don't blame him, I hate to be around loud obnoxious drunks too that constantly start fights and cause trouble ,and I know they were all drinkers but even James and Lars got tired of it which is why they finally kicked him out of the band.
marc dewey yeah, I like Dave and all, but he was way out of hand with drinking and drug abuse until he hit rock bottom around so far so good so what.
Justin Adams yeah but at the time metallica was just another trash band...! you look at it now and of course it looks like a mistake...!
There seems to be no clarity about him leaving. I've heard different things.
1:34 RIP baloff, you are and will be missed
I think Dave deserved another chance
He did get a second chance
When?
Well there was the time he poured the beer on Ron's bass, then there was the time Dave's dog jumped on Ron's car and James kicked it and Dave beat his ass. I'm not sure which happened first.
Yes, that was why he was kicked from Metallica, but he didn't had a second chance.
Gabriel Santana who gives a shit??megadeth's better than metallica anyway
i seen metallica 4 times .. every song is my favorite.. im 60 years old. and i still rock.. and when i go to algodones to the green door i play metallica.. keep rocking you older music..
all time favourite metallica song?
Dave got booted out of the band and become as big as Metallica on his own.how awesome is that.
They're... really not anywhere near is big as Metallica but ok lol

Video about Metallica and most comments are about Dave Mustaine. Love it
This was likely the best live performance of Kill em All, post Dave Mustaine!
I became more of a Mustaine fan as time passed. He's a genius. The drummer seems like he was trying to overcompensate for something.
Overcompensating for lack of talent

I'd put Megadeth's catalog up against Metallica's anytime. The lyrics are way more in depth and the riffs are way more intricate.
5:43 ironic how that guy he was talking about is now more respected than his ass or his entire band!!! lol.
The only people who don’t respect Metallica anymore are the dumbass metal elitists
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Stopsign He said more respected, not that they aren’t respected
Rest In Peace Ray Burton. who sadly passed away a few days ago :(
Jack Brunault awwwwww
Mustaine was on another level.
Mustaine taught Hetfield almost every single riff and chord yet Hetfield still remains as an "average" rhythm guitar player.
Compare the rhythm sections in Metallica and Megadeth, it's a no brainer. Not to mention the Spider Chord.
Hammet and Metallica got famous at the expense of Mustaine, they could of asked him to stop drinking, a second chance would of been nice but in the end Metallica made the RIGHT decision.
Because now we have Megadeth.
shut up and go away with your stupid comment.
uhhh James knew guitar before he met mustaine
You've actually never played guitar and it shows, calling james average is fucking stupid and so are you
Yeah but megadeth has a shitty vocalist.
I always pass by that abandoned building on Archer Ave on my daily commute, but I had no idea anything significant was ever there. Crazy to think about.
Cliff you are still missed , and we know heaven is Rocking.
it is very interesting to imagine what metallica would be if dave mustaine had never got kicked out..

Best band ever!!!! Seen them at the monsters of rock tour....liberty bowl stadium...memphis Tennessee in the 80s
I think this is the first and only story about a band moving to be closer to the bassist. lol
"The band became an underground sensation."
If Cliff had never died, Metallica would be as awesome as ever.
@@ryanpb16 he commented this 12 years ago, maybe his attitude has changed after the hardwired album lmao

so......there was a bassist BEFORE cliff Burton?
Ron McGoveny
And a guitar player before Dave. A black dude named Lloyd Grant.
SM Music Plus Lloyd was never a member for some reason
No.
Yup. He quit because Dave's dumbass poured a beer all over his bass while it was plugged in and being played, which completely ruined it.

I think Mustaines music spoke to me more. His Music defined my life as a whole. Metallica was cool, but I loved Megadeth in my heart.
I can always come back to this
All I have to say is Long Live Megadeth!!🤘🤘.
Brooklyn3955 I hear ya.
Sounds great! You can really hear Dave carrying over his riffs he wrote for Call of Ktulu..acoustic adds a nice touch.
CatspitProductions men!!! its a pleasure to read this coment, i think the same Way like you, i enjoy 80s and im still enjoying It, Salutes...
Very cool. Cheers :)
I think St. Anger is one of the their best albums.
Jeremy Robertson If Metallica sold out on ...And Justice for All then Megadeth sold out on Countdown to Extinction and Slayer on Reign In Blood.
