After Cliff's tragic death in 1986, the band interviewed dozens of bassists to find his replacement. They involved both of Burton's parents in the decision to choose Jason Newsted. Cliff's parents were present during the announcement, and after the band broke the news to Newsted, Burton's mother, hugged him tightly and said, "You are the one. Please, be safe." That is so epic and breathtaking.
Kill em all was recorded less than three minutes from my house. The studio no longer exists but I still lay a flower there every year for Cliff.
this is the first time Metallica has had TOO much bass
I'm just happy Jason is on good terms with Metallica
The fact that they brought cliff's dad up on stages says so much.

Jason is still the best backing vocal for the band
Where is Mustaine?
Jason Newstead was and is still the best back up vocals Metallica ever had! He brought a whole new depth to the music that is sadly underrated.
Dave Mustaine. Where art thou!?
Cliff's dad is the cutest human ever
Seeing Jason and Rob playing together on stage is one of the best things I’ve seen in a while.
Kirk is so polite, nervous, and humble. The opposite of his killer guitar playing... 😄
Jason's stage presence is amazing, it's like he never left the band
Cliff's mom broke my heart.

What a speech by Flea. Eloquent, poetic, intelligent, and so true.
What Flea had to say about Cliff Burton was beautiful
