Most Metal Heads here in Australia consider Dave Mustaine to be a LIVING LEGEND. He has stayed true to his art, and the music industry, even though he has been treated poorly by many since his era. I went to a Megadeth concert at the Agora Amphitheatre in Cleveland when I was 21 with my cousin and girlfriend. The Misfits opened up for them. It was the Cryptic Writings tour. I remember Dave Mustane saying hail to the devil and got booed by the audience.
That's odd, because Dave got saved about 5 years before that. We are about the same age and I've been a Megadeth fan for most of it. After the release of "Peace Sells.... But Who's Buying" he even stopped playing " The Conjuring" live.
My first concert was Megadeth. I think I was 14 years old. It was in Offenbach am Main in Germany. I love Dave Mustaine. You have to love him. YOU MUST, AINE'T YOU?
That's what a lot of ppl do, than his haters say he's always crying about Metallica. There was a while where Metallica never came up in conversation and interviews, but for the past 20 years, ppl can't wait to bring it up. They bring it up, not Dave. I don't ever recall a time where nobody asked about Metallica, and Dave was just like "......so let's talk about Metallica, you know I was in that band right?" I'm 99% sure that's the absolute truth
What is trying to do is relate, Mustaine, to everybody else because nobody really knows who Dave mustaine is until they relate him to metallica, who more people know about. He is just trying to integrate him into his audience. People who don't know him, aren't sick of the Metallica-Mustaine correlation like we are
He asked him what it was like looking back on his crazy career. Before he mentioned Metallica, he mentioned Megadeth. And when you're recapping someone's storied career, being a former member of Metallica is def a noteworthy mention.
He got scammed by Metallica. Kicked him out simply for doing what they all did but better than them. Was the most ambitious and they didn’t want him as front man which he naturally was. Stole his music, just the fact he alone started megadeth and got them huge shows how much talent he has.
Aside from insane raw talent, Dave is truly smart and wise. A metal god of the likes of all the Greats we all love and know. Always anticipating the next epic Megadeath release!
Dave's the man. A truly talented musician who's been there done that. Rust in Peace is one of the best metal albums ever and one of my personal faves. Good to see he's still ticking.

Joe is usually a very good interviewer, he asks good questions, when I heard about this interview I was eager to hear it all, my feeling is that Joe did not do his homework this time and wasted a promising interview
Dave has matured so much and is so much more eloquent than the 80’s when I first remember listening to him. I am glad he has developed a relationship with Christ and would love to hear his perspective. He mentioned Alice Cooper. Please Dave do it!. That’s not pushing. It is telling your story. On another note, I saw Dave on thr Experience tour and I actually commented on his social media that he had the most authentic Hendrix tone which the Dweezil Zappa and Eric Johnson tubing session tripped me out to hear about. Dave was definitely a fish out of water on that tour but I thought his tone was perfect and he did thr most authentic covers. so major respect. The other guitarists were putting their own spin on the music. Which is fine but that is ther genre. Dave did a perfect cover.
59:40 i have heard Dave talk about this magic thing before, and it is always with such deep regret and remains very guarded about it. He fully believes in black magic because of something that happened, and i think he believes he is responsible for Cliff's death. Kirk took his job, and some of the footage of Metallica just after Dave was fired shows how ruthless the rest of the band were when talking about Dave. Living it up while he was in despair. And its no secret that Dave hated Kirk for replacing him. And if you remember, Kirk and Cliff drew straws for the better bunk. Cliff ended up where Kirk was meant to sleep, which was ultimately a death sentence. I don't believe in black magic myself, if it worked everyone would be at it! But Dave was quite into it apparently, and ive always wondered if he tried to put some kind of hex on Kirk. Then, when the story came out about Cliff's death, how it happened and how Kirk narrowly missed the same fate, Dave REALLY believed it was too much of a coincidence and blamed himself ever since. I hope not because that would be a terrible guilt to mistakenly carry.
Only Joe Rogan could find a way to make an interview with Dave Mustaine boring. His arsenal of great guitarists? Nah. Lets spend 30 minutes googling about cocoa leaves.
Wow! Around 43:30 I noticed Joe's hoodie has "Kill Cliff" right after Dave saw the old picture of Metallica and mentioned how seeing it brings him a bit of sadness because of what happened to Cliff. I wonder if Dave noticed what was on Joe's hoodie.

Teaching yourself to play an instrument is not as difficult as some seem to think. I grew up with musician parents and music was just a normal everyday part of family life. As a teenager my mom gave me a book that had piano chords charted in it and gave me a brief explanation of how songs are nothing more than repeating patterns of chords and said if I can memorize the chords then I can play anything. So I did, then soon after my dad told me that it was the same with the guitar and if I can memorize the chords then I can play anything, Over 30 years later and if an instrument has strings I play it. I have over 160 videos here on my channel of me playing all those instruments, and I was totally self taught. And if I can do it, then anyone can do it...... and should.

@@nicoquattro3950 I cannot see Glen talking to Joe for 3 hrs lol.
Phil is kinda dumb. Probably a 15 minute interview
I feel like Phil is too obscure for Joe. I was surprised to see Mustaine.
....Dimebag on JRE would have been iconic!
Big love to you Dave from Finland, Turku! Got the new Megadeth, thanks for making it.
Mikä viddu teitä Turkulaisia oikein vaivaa? Jk.
Can't count how many times I've seen Megadeth. Love Dave.
God bless all the rattleheads! Jesus saves sinners
'It's about family' Right on Dave!
Dave has never missed a show. That's Respect man😎🙂💯
A LEGEND
LIKE HIM OR NOT.
my favourite dave albums are kill em all
So far so good...
And
Countdown...
Relapse or something perhaps? That made him have a silly lapse?
My first concert was Megadeth.
I think I was 14 years old.
It was in Offenbach am Main in Germany.
I love Dave Mustaine.
You have to love him. YOU MUST, AINE'T YOU?
I've always loved you
I hate how the first question he asks was about metallica
That's what a lot of ppl do, than his haters say he's always crying about Metallica. There was a while where Metallica never came up in conversation and interviews, but for the past 20 years, ppl can't wait to bring it up. They bring it up, not Dave. I don't ever recall a time where nobody asked about Metallica, and Dave was just like "......so let's talk about Metallica, you know I was in that band right?" I'm 99% sure that's the absolute truth
💯 @@NintenDub
What is trying to do is relate, Mustaine, to everybody else because nobody really knows who Dave mustaine is until they relate him to metallica, who more people know about. He is just trying to integrate him into his audience. People who don't know him, aren't sick of the Metallica-Mustaine correlation like we are
No it wasn't
He asked him what it was like looking back on his crazy career. Before he mentioned Metallica, he mentioned Megadeth. And when you're recapping someone's storied career, being a former member of Metallica is def a noteworthy mention.
He got scammed by Metallica. Kicked him out simply for doing what they all did but better than them. Was the most ambitious and they didn’t want him as front man which he naturally was. Stole his music, just the fact he alone started megadeth and got them huge shows how much talent he has.
dave is a gemius
Aside from insane raw talent, Dave is truly smart and wise. A metal god of the likes of all the Greats we all love and know. Always anticipating the next epic Megadeath release!
Dave's the man. A truly talented musician who's been there done that.
Rust in Peace is one of the best metal albums ever and one of my personal faves. Good to see he's still ticking.
It’s a perfect album as far as metal goes its top tier. Peace Sells is up there as well
Ive been hoping to see this whole interview at some point
Same. Ive been waiting on this interview to drop for months
Hell yes! I've always wanted to watch this full episode. Learning to play Dave's guitar riffs from all his albums is life!
Jamie, pull up that video of that bear playing metallica
😂 man this never gets old
I will always love this joke 😂
How much did they pay you to screw that bear
Dave is Amazing. I've liked him since he started. He's been through so much n he's gotten better in music n life each year. Congratulations n Thanks. Us Metal Heads are Thankful.
Dave is such an interesting guy. As a long term metalhead and Megadeth fan, how no idea how deep in to martial arts Dave is. Very knowledgeable.
Dave's smart as all hell. Dude knows a ton of stuff
And black magic spells hexs curses and the reason he was saved would blow your mind it has to do with death that's all I will say love long and prosper DM

He is smart from dumb people view
Recently became a fan of dave but already an idol for me his metal flaming heart really never fades out
wasnt this episode from last year or two years ago?
Yes. They do their podcasts on Spotify and then they trickle in clips on UA-cam and then depending on the popularity of that podcast anywhere from 6 months to a year they'll put the podcast out on UA-cam
Read the ep number before asking man.... It's just a projectionist question.
Does it matter

I remember seeing this full interview here on YT back in 2022 I believe. So, it's already been uploaded before. Don't know the reason behind them reuploading this now. Maybe it got a copyright strike, but then again... what for? :P
Wow. What an amazing picture of humanity. The journey, where he is now, where he's yet to go... I can't help but be a fan of MegaDave! Saw them in Cincinnati in'99, maybe '00, its a core memory for me. Megadeth, Motley Crue, and Anthrax who bailed, still a top 5 concert for me.
And I saw Paige and Plant!
You didn't make metal, metal made you!
Well Dave MADE METAL!
You can tell Dave is a massive movie buff
Mad respect to Dave for referencing Benny and his other teachers as Sensei. Shows humility and good character. Just like GSP carrying Jean Charles Sharbowski's bag on TUF.
Stars Wars didn’t have
Klingons , that’s Star Trek!! 😅😅😅
how dare Dave Mustaine not be a nerd.
Omg all I want to be brother Joe Rogan so one day I can grow up and interview my ultimate legend hero. Dave mustaine!!!! Changed my life bro. I'm addicted. Love you pimpin!!! Keep kickin ass... Wow!!! Inspired!!!
Joe is usually a very good interviewer, he asks good questions, when I heard about this interview I was eager to hear it all, my feeling is that Joe did not do his homework this time and wasted a promising interview
yeah no shit
Amazing.. if you only knew more about mustaine! Would have been an even better interview! He’s insane!
yeah its obvious joe rogan has never listened to megadeth and just knew that dave was in metallica and likes MMA
you can tell that they don't know what to start.. from the amount of time Joe interrupts Dave and jumping from one topic to another
Massive talent. Incredible music.
The Hagar cover is killer!!

Amazing to hang with mustaine. But the call by Joe that Cat Stevens wrote “Cats in the cradle” makes me laugh so much I get hysterical
I hate all these people saying Dave is an asshole. Hes a super cool dude. I like him
He never slows down.putting out hard, fast political thrash constantly. 🤘🤘

All the Megadeth concerns I've been to were the time of my life! Metal since 1988! \m/ \m/

I love how Dave Mustaine is from my area. I don’t know why I always thought he was Canada and Michigan
Only Joe Rogan could find a way to make an interview with Dave Mustaine boring. His arsenal of great guitarists? Nah. Lets spend 30 minutes googling about cocoa leaves.
Sad but true

If you don’t know Megadeth then please please please purchase their album Rust In Peace. It is phenomenal.
definitly not 5 days ago but worth watch
What Pablo Picaso is to art Dave Mustaine is to Music! Living Legend!❤
WGN is Chicago Cubs I think he's thinking of TBS for the ATL Braves
Wow! Around 43:30 I noticed Joe's hoodie has "Kill Cliff" right after Dave saw the old picture of Metallica and mentioned how seeing it brings him a bit of sadness because of what happened to Cliff. I wonder if Dave noticed what was on Joe's hoodie.
I like Dave but I love Buckethead!
Gonna see megadeth in 4 weeks live in Vegas. Can’t fucking wait.

Very good interview! I was born in 1970 and being in high school in the eighties was either the dead heads or heavy metal.great job!!🇺🇸
Look at him now, 20 in Metallica, 60 in Megadeth and Megadeth now is producing better metal than Metallica by far. He still does it for the love of the music not the love of the money like Metallica now. DON'T get me wrong I still love Metallica, but Megadeth I listen to daily, Metallica I don't.
It's only better in your eyes. Art is subjective.
In no way is Megadeth better, theres a reason why one is waaay more popular than the other. Dont get me wrong, i love megadeth, but you cant compare them.
As an overall package Metallica are better than Megadeth but Megadeths guitar work shits all over Metallicas

And if I can do it, then anyone can do it...... and should.
I can't imagine having a normal conversation with one of the greatest rock stars of all time. Megadeth rules 🤘🤘⚡⚡
I saw Static-X and Mega back in 99 in Albuquerque. So fucking great ! 👍🏻

seen Megadeth in Belfast waaaaaay back & Dave apologised to all present about his comments on the Troubles & sectarian violence in Northern Ireland. i have a great respect for artists who own their mistakes & apologise publicly. they then went on to play Anarchy in the UK & we lost it.. amazing gig.
even tho i moved away from metal & became a techno dj/producer, i will always have a lil place for Mega.

I'm biased because i'm a heavy metal fan but I kinda wish Joe did a little bit more research before some of his podcast. A lot of missed opportunity to ask interesting question and not the usual one here
Should have had Eddie on to co-pilot.😉
Joe really doesn't strike me as much of a music guy, let alone metal.
Agreed. He didn't talk about other band members or specific albums etc as much as I like hearing about martial arts and stuff could've had more stories about Ellefson , Poland, friedman, menza, or Samuelsson etc
Thank you for putting episode up from earlier, it's so valuable, grattitude from Belgium
