Had to find how to enable developer options first. Menu option not enabled by default. New 4k MAX remote has Prime/Netflix/Directv/Peacock. I attempted to reassign the Netflix button to UA-cam TV. App said I was successful but it does not respond to Netflix button. Remapper only launches the new app by launching the remapper app from the manage apps menu. Button is not being intercepted. Sorry. Must be a moving target. If it did work, I'd ask for Directv and Peacock remappers too, but.......
Hello, Great video by the way. I followed your instructions a while back to change Disney+ to HBOMAX (the only button I changed) and it worked great. But I have noticed over time it quit working. Now I am trying to reset it up but it is not working. I uninstalled the Disney+ app, it shows as Remapper for Disney+. I do have Hbomax installed. I have tried the force stop, clear data as your video shows and tried redoing it all but Disney+ button still won't respond. Any ideas? Thanks
Is there an updated version? Just tried on a new 4K Max I got today and it didn't work. I had to uninstall the apps to get the buttons to revert as well, clearing cache didn't work for that.
Is there anywhere you could buy stickers that go over the dedicated buttons for example i would remap the hulu button to youtube would love to cover it with a youtube sticker.
I've made stickers with my Cricut crafting machine. If you know anyone who has one, ask them to make one out of "permanent" vinyl. (not the iron on stuff)
The Netflix remap worked but no matter what I do my Max will not install the Disney+ or Hulu remap app. They both fail to install. I'm not a novice to these devices so I've tried all the basics to try and get those 2 remapping apps to install with no luck.
Hi, I'm not sure if this will help, and I'm not sure if I was clear enough in my video, so take this for what it's worth.. The writer of these remapper apps says that the apps to be remapped must be in your Amazon Account history and run at least once on the device before trying all this. My personal experience is that I didn't need to have these apps on my device previously, so I made the video to reflect what I found myself. Let me know how it works out.

I can remap the existing buttons, but then I lose some functionality, like fast forward and backward). I guess I need a different remote that supports color buttons.
I think this works great for Firestick, however it does not work for my Toshiba fire TV unfortunately. There is no way for me to choose to download from unknown sources.
I wanted to remap the buttons on my echo show 15 remote, but apparently Amazon has Hidden settings. Is there any way to get to settings on Amazon echo show 15? Not only to remap but to do other settings, such as changing net work or doing speed test or any other thing that fire TV settings would allow. Maybe it's the new updates that Amazon has pushed out, but after following the instructions and remapping, the buttons don't remap, to the apps I specified.
Great video, my remapped Netflix to UA-cam worked great, thank you very much!!! Question: We are currently subscribed to Disney+ and Hulu and wish to retain the original mappings for those buttons. However, if we should ever decide to cancel those subscriptions in the future, can I delete those apps right now, install your remappings for those two buttons and then reinstall the apps again so that your maps are on my device, ready to go, in the event we do cancel those subscriptions? Thanks for the clear and straight forward to follow video. After you have remapped app buttons can you then install netflix, disney+ or hulu apps and have access to them through normal navigation and launching while retaining the app button mapping that was configured?
@@raulmejiajr Same with mine. If I manually launch Hulu from the fire tv stick 4k max apps section it now launches the UA-cam app that I remapped the Hulu quick access button to.
Having problems with the Disney remapper. Go through the steps but the channel does not replace the Disney button. I’ve replaced the Hulu button with no problems. Disney button is my problem. Thx
Did you have Disney+ installed (from the Amazon App store) and opened at least once before you uninstalled it and installed the Disney+ remapper app? This is required. Other than that, you can try restarting the process by uninstalling that remapper button, reinstall Disney+ and open it, then uninstall Disney+ and reinstall the Disney+ remapper app again. Let me know how it goes.
Roku does not support remapping the buttons, but if you have the version with the "Pro" remote, they have two programmable buttons that you can use the remember any voice command to open any app. Here's a link to the version I'm talking about: amzn.to/30Qd6cp In fact, the only way to disable these 4 buttons on the Roku is to open it up and cut out the rubber button pads for them. Pretty silly.
for some reason it's not working on my fire tv (actual tv) remote. it did disable the original functions thought, which in a way it's a win because I heated pressing those buttons accidentally and having the download app page show up. it would have been nice to actually be able to lunch tubi, youtube and silk browser though

No.. these steps should work. Did you run the Hulu app at least once before removing it? If it didn't work the 1st time, you can uninstall the remapping app, reinstall hulu, run hulu once, then uninstall hulu and reinstall the mapping button. Good luck. 2nd time is the charm. 👍

Amazon put out an update that made these instructions not work anymore on some models. Like I said in the video: Buttons for preinstalled apps, like Prime Video and Amazon Music, cannot be remapped. This is because there is no way to uninstall preinstalled apps and you cannot remap a button if the button’s app is installed.
I have a weird issue in my firestick 4k max . When I press the home button . The Home Screen appear and then there is a 2 flickers on the screen and when the screen is flickering the remote blue lights blinks as well. If I use a mobile phone remote . This does not happen . What can be the issue in the remote control ?
@@CordCuttersLI it’s brand new just started happening after the recent remote update. Though I made lot of changes in the setting with adds and stuff. Only happens if I press the home button on the remote
@@dreams_unlimited129 I'm still leaning heavily towards it being a bad remote since it works with your Phone App. If it's new contact Amazon, they'll definitely replace it. They may not even want that one back.
@@CordCuttersLI the issue has been fixed for some reason the input for the firestick changed from HDMI 2 to 1 . And when the press the home button it was charging HDMI
I had the remapper in external storage and ran into the same problem with it not working. I moved it to internal storage and now it works as intended. Just letting you know that remapper in external storage causes problems.

The button for Netflix does not work. This did work at one point, but the apk accidentally got uninstalled. It does nothing, but when I click on the Remapper for Netflix icon it does load the app that I want to use. I have cleared the data and reset it up, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times downloaded from 3 different places. I can’t get the button to launch anything. I have tried multiple apps and nothing launches. Any ideas on how to get this working is greatly appreciated.
I followed it all perfectly and got to the point where I “clear data” in the Disney remapper, I pressed home then pressed the Disney button and nothing happens
I have an Amazon Fire Cube 2nd generation 2019. I've tried to remap the remote buttons. The result is the buttons become inoperable. Hence I switch them back to Disney Plus and Hulu
I tried but failed because when I get to the point where I am supposed to enter the ULR’s there is no keypad or way to type it in. Maybe I am to stupid!
I remapped my Disney+ and Hulu buttons to open other apps a month ago and it was working great until yesterday and now neither button opens anything. So I uninstalled the remapping apps and reset my remote. Then I followed your video again but those two buttons won't open anything now. Do you have any idea what is wrong?

Did the Apps (Disney+ and Hulu) open using those buttons after you reinstalled them? Have you tried (just as a test, trying to map them to other Apps)? I had NetFlix, Disney+, and Hulu remapped. I’ve gone as far as resetting (factory defaults) to the cube, but still get the same results. I used the AFTV codes, and simply have no idea why they stopped working. I’m hoping you have some ideas what’s going on, and how I can get them working again (I've tried all of the above mentioned tips)! We have 2 cubes, and the other was working fine - until yesterday! Now both have the same problem. Thanks so much!

I'm not 100% sure since I have not tried it. I'm not sure why anyone would want to though. If you have the premium (expensive) apps on the buttons, why would you want to remap them? If you give it a try and find out, please come back and let us know. Thanks for watching!

The old version of the Amazon 4k firestick 4k doesn't have these buttons on the remote. I suspect that you could buy one of these new remotes and pair it to an old one and it might work, but I haven't tested it. Is that what you mean?
@@CordCuttersLI , Well just got a 4k (not Max) today, did not install Hulu, but did remap following your guide, to Yttv. Got this for $24, and seems as good or better than the GoogleTV (but no app only mode, so too many adds). Also they seem to have changed the interface , so the Apps line only accepts 5 apps , this is because they have the appAdder and settings at the end of the line (which is bad).
@@CordCuttersLI , Not really this is the first FireStick I ever had (Roku GoogleTV). I was a little put off at first but it is growing on me. I think the limit of 5 apps on the Home tab is silly. I gave your workaround to a question on Amazon about whether this could be done (actually the url).

After updates these remapper apps stopped working. They're invalid.

If it didn't work the 1st time, you can uninstall the remapping app, reinstall hulu, run hulu once, then uninstall hulu and reinstall the mapping button. Good luck. 2nd time is the charm. 👍

How do i change my buttons for amazon music and prime video?
Like I said in the video: Buttons for preinstalled apps, like Prime Video and Amazon Music, cannot be remapped. This is because there is no way to uninstall preinstalled apps and you cannot remap a button if the button’s app is installed.

I have a weird issue in my firestick 4k max . When I press the home button . The Home Screen appear and then there is a 2 flickers on the screen and when the screen is flickering the remote blue lights blinks as well. If I use a mobile phone remote . This does not happen .

Sounds like you have an issue with the remote. Try removing it and re-adding it. (Assuming batteries are good?)
@@CordCuttersLI it’s brand new just started happening after the recent remote update. Though I made lot of changes in the setting with adds and stuff. Only happens if I press the home button on the remote

@@CordCuttersLI the issue has been fixed for some reason the input for the firestick changed from HDMI 2 to 1 . And when the press the home button it was charging HDMI
I had the remapper in external storage and ran into the same problem with it not working. I moved it to internal storage and now it works as intended. Just letting you know that remapper in external storage causes problems.

This did work at one point, but the apk accidentally got uninstalled.
It does nothing, but when I click on the Remapper for Netflix icon it does load the app that I want to use.
I have cleared the data and reset it up, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it 3 times downloaded from 3 different places.
I can’t get the button to launch anything. I have tried multiple apps and nothing launches.

I have an Amazon Fire Cube 2nd generation 2019. I've tried to remap the remote buttons. The result is the buttons become inoperable. Hence I switch them back to Disney Plus and Hulu

I remapped my Disney+ and Hulu buttons to open other apps a month ago and it was working great until yesterday and now neither button opens anything. So I uninstalled the remapping apps and reset my remote. Then I followed your video again but those two buttons won't open anything now. Do you have any idea what is wrong?
To start over you will need to reinstall the apps that those buttons were used for.

Did the Apps (Disney+ and Hulu) open using those buttons after you reinstalled them? Have you tried (just as a test, trying to map them to other Apps)?

@@CordCuttersLI Hi, I’ve been trying (very hard) to understand why all of a sudden, my remapped fire cube (new) remote buttons no longer work - they do absolutely nothing, Just like Valerie. I had NetFlix, Disney+, and Hulu remapped. I’ve gone as far as resetting (factory defaults) to the cube, but still get the same results. I used the AFTV codes, and simply have no idea why they stopped working. I’m hoping you have some ideas what’s going on, and how I can get them working again (I've tried all of the above mentioned tips)! We have 2 cubes, and the other was working fine - until yesterday! Now both have the same problem. Thanks so much!

I'm not 100% sure since I have not tried it. I'm not sure why anyone would want to though. If you have the premium (expensive) apps on the buttons, why would you want to remap them? If you give it a try and find out, please come back and let us know. Thanks for watching!

The old version of the Amazon 4k firestick 4k doesn't have these buttons on the remote. I suspect that you could buy one of these new remotes and pair it to an old one and it might work, but I haven't tested it. Is that what you mean?
@@CordCuttersLI , Well just got a 4k (not Max) today, did not install Hulu, but did remap following your guide, to Yttv. Got this for $24, and seems as good or better than the GoogleTV (but no app only mode, so too many adds). Also they seem to have changed the interface , so the Apps line only accepts 5 apps , this is because they have the appAdder and settings at the end of the line (which is bad).
@@howieg Yes, that is the new Interface, the same on all versions of the Firestick now. It does take some getting used to.

Yes, it works. Which app are you trying to remap? Remember, it has to have been installed and run at least once previously.
