60+ and I have got one of these coming soon. tried a few vids for tips/tricks/must do's etc. Mostly 20 year olds machine gunning me with information , drowned out with "music". So well done for explaining the choices and what to do about it.
Thank you, turning off apps or deleting them has saved me a lot of storage. I am glad I saw your UA-cam video. Don’t let the negative comments get to you. For some of us your video was very helpful. 😎
I bought a Toshiba FireTV a couple of years ago and I’ve been grousing about it ever since. It’s bee painfully sluggish and requires frequent restarts. I stumbled onto this video today. I did everything this gentleman suggested (everything I could anyway) and the sluggishness is all cleared up. I’m assuming the need for frequent restarts is too. Thank you so much!!
Excellent, thanks. For interest: Getting to the settings icon, from the home screen, can be accessed faster than long pressing the home button by scrolling left instead of right (3 steps).
Hi Richard, I'm new to Amazon Firestick, I didn't really see a need for it, a friend of my told me about all content, sports, movies he can watch which got me interested. He didn't mention any of the info that you talked about in this video; it's very interesting and helpful, Thanx for sharing all of the helpful tips!
Thank you so much! Your clear, thorough communication is wonderful and I greatly appreciate it. The tech world is foreign to me, but you have made it more comfortable to maneuver in. ❤
Heck yeah, thank you. So much stuff running in the background I wasn't even aware of, and I did as you said and it sure made my fire Stick Run a lot better
Thanks to everyone who has watched my recent UA-cam comeback. Due to some copyright issues, I haven't been on the platform since the beginning of the year, and I wasn't sure just what direction to take with the channel. These recent videos are my attempt to reimagine the channel and renew my commitment to giving you the simplest possible solutions to your tech problems. Thanks again for your support over the years, and I look forward to helping you with your tech problems for many years to come!

I don't need any extras.. just want basics... so it's nice to be able to turn off all the excess stuff. Will watch your video again when I set my firestick up this coming weekend. Awesome and straight forward video!👍✅️

Fastest 12 minutes ever. I could had used this a couple of days ago asi just bought a new Amazon Fire Stick. It's all good though as it's got way more memory. I did turn off all of the settings I wanted off so thank you for that. I might have to look at my old one and see if it's salvageable by deleting apps and forming off all the extra unneeded settings.
I've been helping my elderly neighbor (lol, I'm 65, but she's much older) program her new firestick. I knew a lot of tips and tricks but BECAUSE OF YOU, I learned so MUCH MORE! Thank you for taking your time to film this tutorial! I always come to UA-cam for help. Heck, I reshingled my own roof 2 years ago after 7 days of watching videos. No leaks yet! I was looking at fire stick videos and which one to get and your video was a great help and I’d definitely turn everything off but I don’t think I’ll be getting one after you said you’ve gotta leave Credit card details to open an account! I didn’t know that and don’t fancy leaving a credit card. I don’t suppose there is any way around that??? Great video and I’m sure it’s helped lots of people. Keep up the good work. Cheers from uk 🇬🇧
4:50 - I don't know about everyone else, but I just got a brand new 4K fire stick & in privacy settings 'device usage data, collect app usage data & interest based ads' were ALL preset to off when I got it. 👍
A lot of good information in this video! My original fire stick just died and I'm waiting on delivery of the new one I ordered. I will definitely use a lot of the recommends you provided here! Thanks!
Thank you! My movies are playing more smoothly...less buffering. I still have a little bit of it but not like it was before shuting off the junk not needed! I wasn't quite sure what I could turn off!
Thanks a lot. I thought I had everything shut off on my fire stick that I could shut off watching your video helped out a lot. Thank you very much. God bless.
Richman, Horace Ragin here. I'm retired and I was watching your programme, it was very informative. Thank you for the great tutorial today October,31,2022, thanks, man.
Rick! Great video!! I'm 85 and like to watch some things from my computer, but on my TV. Is there a was to Select a different HDMI port from Firestick. I could always use my old remote, but at 85, I like to keep things as simple as possible. Thanks, again, for an easy explanation for simplifying
Thank you for the concise video Sir. This reminds of the days of DOS and Win 3.1. You needed to fine tune processes, and modify batch files just to make your PC operate. Win 95/98 did away with many of these issues, but not all, and today's PC runs fine without ever "looking under the hood" so to speak. My point is, I question whether some of these tips really make any difference. The speed and capacity of modern hardware is far beyond our ability to notice a few extra MB of memory being used, or a few extra processes running. However, Amazon's Fire Sticks and Cube definitely do slow down over time and I've found no real way to correct them. This video is indeed an excellent collection of speed tips, but based upon my experience with two such devices, one new and one a few years old used in the same house, I feel there's something else slowing down these devices.
I'm new to the steaming game and this was very helpful! I got some apps working that weren't doing so before, probably because there was so much stuff that was ON by default. Thanks!
Excellent video. I have in the past turned off a lot of similar tracking features, but you took this to another level. Thank you from a new Subscriber!
Very informative and helpful. We now have one Firestick setup, two more to do. Suggestion, turn off the background music. It is beyond me why UA-cam content creators think is important having background music over their voice. The music quickly becomes extremely annoying. We came to hear you, not hear to fight music thumping in the background. Many folks have hearing difficulties, thus as we concentrate on your voice, we must also concentrate tuning out the music; very frustrating. Truly, the music ruins another wise outstanding video experience. Cordially
You do NOT need to be signed in to Amazon to change any TV settings. However, on privacy settings, you do have to be connected via ethernet or WiFi for internet access. That's because it assumes you have your TV connected to the internet, which I do not recommend with Amazon and Alexa. I use the Roku streaming box and only connect the TCL Fire TV to the internet when I need to update the actual TV itself. Then I reboot my TV and disconnect the TV from the internet. I got the TV for only $270, even though it has great quality that betters my previous flat-screen TV
Wow Thanks so much Rich….You do deserve an Award for your work……has anyone ever told you that you sound just like Don Kirshner he used to Announce Rock Concerts on Friday Night’s
Hi Richman, FireStick uses isolated hardware to decode H264 and H265. This means reducing cpu usage has little to no advantage for increasing speed on the device.

Great informative vid for people especially new users but please give people a heads up r.e the screen saver and turning it off as if it's set to never without setting it to standby then it's designed to stop you getting screen burn and doesn't use anything really that would make a difference...I'd leave updates on too for security reasons but a good all rounder for new owners :)👍👍👍
Thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I have a question: I downloaded your app for my FIRESTICK , downloaded HD Stream and having issues with freeze frame. The video plays for a few seconds then pauses for a while and starts again. I’m assuming my internet feed isn’t able to keep up with the HD content. Is there a setting available to change to 720p or even 480p?
My suggestion is that you should leave the screensaver on, if you don’t want your OLED TV to have burn in. Just saying. Unless you have a sleep timer already activated on your TV.
