So let me get this straight....Valor style just essentially gets rid of GS's biggest weakness which was mobility...I have no shame in saying that I am sailing with a full mast.
VerfluchtKrieger I feel ya. For some reason the gs feels so much less mobile in this game than any other in my opinion but valor style changed that and now it’s my favorite weapon again. Needless to say a tent has been pitched
Personally, the Adept Great Sword buff is one thing I’m going to be looking towards. Having your adept attack be chargeable allows for less risk since you don’t have to commit to the second swing for full damage and can instead use the first attack. This makes fast attacking monsters, or monsters with smaller openings less troubling.
For brave great sword while you are running with the weapon sheathed in brave mode, if you let go of R then press X+A, you can do standing draw charge out of a run. Important when you don't want to do the draw charge that carries your run momentum.
So happy you are doing videos for MHXX/GenU again. I will be honest, I got tired of World pretty quickly and am very happy to be seeing a pro hunter doing MHXX/GenU content again!
Red Legend same here, nothing against the game, it’s beautiful, but it just doesn’t give the same feeling as the good old traditional formula. Also quadruple the content helps.
@Syuna ERRR! Wrong. I actually still like Monster Hunter World. I own a PS4, Xbox one and both Switch and 3DS. So that is simply not true in the slightest when it comes to me anyways. I suppose I should have made myself a bit more clear. I still like World. It is a solid game. It is not even it's lacking content that is my gripe though, it is the fact the game is so unbelievably easy aside from a few hunts. I would only play online literally for the social aspect, otherwise it is playing tons of HP mode when others just don't pull weight. (Which is fine, we all start somewhere) but my point stands regardless. Game looks beautiful, voice acting isn't even half bad and it introduces some awesome new monster designs, but it just lacks that traditional monhunt feel that Gen U has.
Syuna Funny enough, you seem to be the salty one here. I mean, it's not like people don't quite like MHW because it isn't on the switch. Every one aspect of the game is toned down (except the graphics and the user friendly system). I mean, it's lacking in content right now and most important: it's the EASIEST mh game to date, and the difficult is what really makes someone keep playing MH, especially old players. So yeah, I must assume you are not into difficult games or isn't skilled enough, because you said this game is more balanced, when the truth is that this game is simply more easy all around. Don't get me wrong doe, I can see the advantages of it, that being it's a great way to introduce MH to new players and casual players.
I just tried out mhgu demo, and my impresions (on the great sword at least) is that valor really changes how you use it. So now the great sword isn’t so linear and is really mobile. I noticed something that was really needed, they increased the speed of the lions maw art, which is very useful, now I don’t leave myself so exposed and open with it. I’ve adept is now good and can be used in speed runs, so I may try it out.
Thanks for all these videos, MHW was my firsr MH game, but I have allways wanted to play it, but didn't own a Nintendo DS/3DS. With almost 700hrs clocked into World (still counting). So I thought I wanted to give the Original MH a Try since I do have the Switch, and MHGU "just" came out. I tell ya, it Takes some Getting used to when you are used to World and hos fluid everything is. But it has this feel, I cant really discribe it, but I Love it, so much monster Variety, so much armor and weapons! Its fantastic. Also the Hunter Styles and arts, those make the game extremely fun, love Adept, Aerial and Valor.. You can feel like a crazy Anime character with stuff like Arial switchaxe or Adept Greatsword. Can't wait for G-Rank, currently I'm in High Rank :) Sorry for the long comment, just wanted to Thank you for all your work, your videos really helps me. P.s. What GS are you Using in the video, With Purple Sharpness O.o
If I didn’t have a reason to go back to my weapon from OG on ps2 to freedom 2, these changes look amazing, had no idea it’s changed this much. Definitely swapping back
10 days......10 days......I just played the demo and now I wanna main GS because of Valor style. Thanks as always gaijin. (Edit): I've been playing for a while, and I can safely say I been having a LOT of fun with valor GS
Valor style is the absolute best style for the great sword. Easy to wield, super strong, and because of the valor sheath you don't have to worry so much about putting away your weapon. Not to mention that because of the great sword's power, the valor gauge fills up super fast especially if you can pull off two valor sheath charge attacks.
T C they're really not too compatible since Valor mode has you leave your GS drawn more often than not. Better off with a Weakness Exploit + Critical Eye set.
Eze The Igwe as he said the new draw attack is really usefull and you have the brave seath which will not only dodge attacks but quickly seath your weapon. While I've only played the XX demo I found it very easy to constantly use the draw attack.
T C the draw attack isn't hard to use, but you can't do the lunging A attack out of it, and you can also achieve 100% city chance with the maxed out Nargacuga GS+Weakness Exploit+Crit Eye lv. 1. 100% crit chance on just your draw attack doesn't compare to 100% crit chance with all attacks on the monster's weak point. It was hard for me to accept when I was playing Double Cross, but statistically it's just better than a Crit Draw build.
Eze The Igwe the draw attack is incredibly sped up you don't need a lunge for it. Imo crit draw can be could depending on the armor with it. In Cross/generations there were a few crit draw speesruns with striker and the tigrex great sword dispite striker just forcing you to play with crit draw with no real buffs/benefits. Also if you can spam draw attack easily which you can crit draw is way better then weakness plus crtical eye.
i came back to this video to show it to a group member and it made me appreciate the weapon just a whole lot more. thank you gaijin hunter . you are legit the very best.
One small tip i can give: Valor GS works best with Crit-draw, Quick sheath, and focus. With these it becomes the best in the game. That being said, if you can't get that, Guild GS with double absolutes can work surprisingly well with the basic Weakness exploit crit boost sets, especially if you use the 3U infinite combo (lv3 charge, side swipe, back slam). It's not as easy to use as Valor style, but it's far easier to build for thanks to the absolutes giving extra mobility.
Another great video!!! The new Adapt charge look interesting, I'm gonna try it in the Demo. I must admit I'am looking forward to tomorrow right now because it's gonna be LS's turn.
Man, Valor is more challenging than I thought when I played the demo, however, once you figure it out, it truly is a rewarding experience, especially with LS.
Hey bro... Guild style has an infinite strong combo...press 0 and directional button repeatedly....you'll do spinning slash - strong downward slash - strong blast slash - spinning slash - strong downward slash - strong blast slash - spinning slash - repeat.....you can even charge the strong downward slash in the middle of the combo... You can keep the combo by pressing 0 and directional button after the huge blash slash to keep the combo continue.... (Sorry for my bad english 🙏)
Gaijin Hunter: you will never use the level zero strike. Me: uses level zero strike even now for my infinite combo on big monsters when they are confused and hiting others not under it.
Hey gaijin did you quit doing the mhWorld weapon tutorials? I mean, Arekkz has his own playlist of those, but you always made them showing everything, not only mechanics and combos.
He said on Twitter that life stuff has been really keeping him busy, but also that while he loves World he took a bit of a break from it due to burning out on playing so much. Also from what he mentioned in other videos I think some of the weapons he didn't cover are ones he never really got around to using much in World, like the bowguns.
I tried the GenU demo a few hours ago and it was a hilariously frustrating experience. People dropping in and out of hubs because they get tired of the host not starting the hunt. Completely random match making noobs, novices, and experts. Lots people trying new styles and weapons while others are getting annoyed and they start knocking others around. The most annoying being the time up hunt failed. Getting used to new physical controls also matters. It really is a new console and game. 11 days to go!
SaltyLuigi Sadly no 3DS version. 3DS is close to end of life. Nintendo wants you to buy a Switch. Yes they are expensive outside the USA. I paid $500 for mine. One hunter I talked to spent $700 on his!
yeah i was playing by myself and man that new jet wyvern thing pissed me off man. Seriously want to fight that guy with a real set of armor and teach him a lesson >:)
One of the weapons I’m actually best at in the game (in the series) without even intending to be good at it. I guess it’s an example of a weapon you naturally do well with over just a weapon you say “I’m going to be great with XX”. Though practice always helps. Oddly enough, I’m not even as minutely familiar with the GS abilities like the video does so I’m learning things with this video. Alas, in Generations, I seem to click with Aerial style, outside the classic Guild style. I will definitely want to try out Valor style as I got to mess with it in the demo. As much as the weapon is about sheathing, it just seems like Valor offers power for free (though at the seemingly new cost of how long it takes to sheathe)
Got a switch last week with dead cells Celeste and octopath pre ordered mhgenu, those few were suppose to tie me over until this game but maybe lil overkill lol, this and octopath is going to ruin me lol
I played mhgu for a month and the only weapon i comfortable to use is only greatsword, and valor style is super fun to use with gretasword because it basically remove the opening for greatsword users which is the sheathing animation, with valor sheath, greatsword is become the greatest weapon in my opinion
Apparently, if you're using Valor/Brave style, it's better to go for the Nargacuga GS, Weakness Exploit, and Crit +1 build for 100% affinity build. Lets you use the Valor charges more effectively.
The motion value says like there's multiplier like 120*1.3 does that mean there'a 1.3 partbreaker? Or the motion value multiplies as well, or something?
Why why is poke village theme so great, i havent even completed the game, whole sereies is wating for me but still pokke village feels like home, mhfu is just something else
As a long time GS user, although as secondary since 4U, I learned a lot! When did kick into strong charge become a thing?? xD Also Valor style is insane, but Y is a terrible button to combine with the others. Is there any way to remap it? 🤔
I don't really use the charge attacks as my bread and butter moves. I tend to use normal combos and 0 charge attack as opener. I only use charge on sleeping, ko'd or paralyzed monsters
Thx sir. U r really guiding me this gs things. Now im wearing mog+regios armor that give critDraw+fastChgr. Didnt critDraw include when i draw an charge atk?
I just started playing Monster Hunter World (I know this isn't world obviously but a lot of the new, to me, moves are similar) and though I've been playing since the first game came out, I haven't played any of the newer games since Freedom Unite 1 and 2 for the PSP came out, I'm so used to the method of GS use being to get that critical draw strike hit and charges being used still but a lot less. I love using the GS but I'm having a hard time breaking these habits and learning the new moves.
What baseline has a higher motion value? The draw attack, or the blue charge? Also does pressing A during the blue charge for the dash/leap change the charge’s damage?
I main Valor GS since I started playing XX and I can assure you I do dish out some massive damages… Heck, I think there isn't any monster's face I haven't wrecked with it
Can someone please explain whats the way to go for GS in MHGU? Hit-and-Run builds with crit draw etc or full Combo builds with weakness exploit etc? So utilize the full power of GS bei comboing or hit-and-run playstytle???
The meta was definitely hit and run crit draw. No matter what style you use it's the strongest. I know you made this comment 11months ago but hope this helped lol.
yeah it up, do know the demos are under the game, so you need to search for the game, not the demo. Though it quick to just go to coming soon to reach the game.
I'm are a player who typically not good using heavy/slow attack weapon, but this monster hunter version makes me really enjoy the heavy weapon like GS and Hammer, In other mh game? yea I really suck use those weapons.

Comfort watching this whole series again
Thanks for this. I am trying to transition from MHW to MHGU and it is soooo different.
4:59 i dont know what im seeing but i can see the crying cat meme on his character
How to kick in the switch version?
Shin minus button
well, fuck
You can also change it to the "Plus"-button so you open the menu with "Minus".
It makes things a bit better.
You can also kick during a guard with R+X, if I recall.
Shin what exactly does the kick do?
GS valor looks so amazing !
Will you do a hammer tutorial?
I'm enjoying these videos!
Nice update for GenU! Question; does the step in valor mode have i-frames? If so is it worth to run evasion+ gear?
I just started playing Monster Hunter World (I know this isn't world obviously but a lot of the new, to me, moves are similar) and though I've been playing since the first game came out, I haven't played any of the newer games since Freedom Unite 1 and 2 for the PSP came out, I'm so used to the method of GS use being to get that critical draw strike hit and charges being used still but a lot less. I love using the GS but I'm having a hard time breaking these habits and learning the new moves.
Why do the charge atk motion values have a multiplier?
I know I'm late, but thats the partbreak modifier
Got bored of world and rise so i came to finish what i started 6 years ago
Dude...did you kill Shagaru Magala in under 5 minutes at the end there? NICE 👌
What baseline has a higher motion value?
The draw attack, or the blue charge?
Also does pressing A during the blue charge for the dash/leap change the charge’s damage?
I have never NEVER stunned a Monster with the Slap,
and i play Monster Hunter since MHFU now...
Wow really? I've only been playing since 4u and I've gotten it fairly common
Brave GS looks so fun!
I... I really want a MHWU with styles like Valor and Adept. I'll even give up my tackle for that adept run.
When you displayed all four MHG style names, you swapped the T and Y on the style part
I main Valor GS since I started playing XX and I can assure you I do dish out some massive damages… Heck, I think there isn't any monster's face I haven't wrecked with it
Can someone please explain whats the way to go for GS in MHGU?
Hit-and-Run builds with crit draw etc
or full Combo builds with weakness exploit etc?
So utilize the full power of GS bei comboing or hit-and-run playstytle???
The meta was definitely hit and run crit draw. No matter what style you use it's the strongest. I know you made this comment 11months ago but hope this helped lol.
@@dongerlord1084 I appreciate that!
Will you be doing a tutorial on how to transfer saves from MHGen to gen U?
Oh, I thought your next video would be the GU demo
A Python In A Top Hat Honestly Im a little lost in the MHGU demo.
Is there a GU demo up on the NA store? I know the japanese one has had it forever.
yeah it up, do know the demos are under the game, so you need to search for the game, not the demo. Though it quick to just go to coming soon to reach the game.
Gamemaster64 Yeah I went and checked after the comment. It should already be downloaded by now.
I'm are a player who typically not good using heavy/slow attack weapon, but this monster hunter version makes me really enjoy the heavy weapon like GS and Hammer, In other mh game? yea I really suck use those weapons.
How to run longer on Adept Style? I always ended up with wasteful hit because I run so in a very short amount of time!
Why can't we have amazing Greatsword designs like this one in MHW?! Goddamnit I don't have money for a switch. -__-'
