@@skyline1613 They can be bought for cheap or gathered, or are sometimes handed out as early-game quest rewards, so as someone speaking from experience, running out of whetstone is actually quite hard.
@@georgewagner1564 assuming you bring a full stack of 20 (and really, you might as well), I'd honestly be very confused and concerned if you somehow managed to run out of whetstones mid-hunt without actively wasting or discarding them. And even then, as I mentioned, there's a couple gathering points in every map where you can get more, or you can even fish for Whetfish, which serve the same purpose. *And* the supply box can also provide them. Honestly, there is no good excuse for running out of them, ever, unless you outright forget to bring them in the first place, and then there's still the methods I just mentioned to replenish them.
I'd like to point out that playing as the palico also lets you catch bugs and mine materials w/o the need for nets/pickaxes, which make them a viable go to for when you need to gather a whole bunch of stuff at once.
World was awesome but it's end game was incredibly lacking. World will be a VERY important step for the series that we will better come to appreciate in the next few years but for this moment in time, the breadth of content on offer with GU is VERY appealing right now. I prefer variety over graphics and "quality of life" but just play which one suites you best... Or both
What I am looking forward to is the next MH game after world that is portable. As I would hope it would keep the fluidity of World with the breadth of the other MH games. The other MH games always felt stilted to me compared to world.
Note for greatswords who started in world. Generations does not have true charge or tackle. You have regular charge and strong charge. This makes crit draw a lot more viable than it was in world
@@ramoo8996 The nerf came with the addition of tackle though, which I find much more valuable. 9/10 times tackling through a monster is both more effective and more fun than simply running around, drawing, attacking, sheathing then running away again.
It's definitely a bit of a shock going back to MHGU. I love remembering how things used to be in MH and I still find the old mechanics fun in places! I also love the huge roster of monsters. But I can't deny the great quality of life changes in MHW...don't forget those paintballs!
For me the big one would be the gathering changes. Going back and getting the reminder of "Oh yeah that's right, I have to stop and wait to gather mushrooms"
Oh don't you worry, I never let myself forget about potions. Funny thing is, there are times when the classic pause and flex method is actually more useful. Namely, when you need to heal very very quickly. The old method has the healing happen instantly, with the downside of leaving yourself open during the animation. So it's not necessarily worse, just different.
I can't even imagine what it's like starting in World and then going to GU. My cousin has a buddy that saw me playing MHGU and he literally went "Oh my god, she's playing the old school Monster Hunter!" It blows my mind how many people became our fellow hunters through that game. That's why I love World. But for me, I think the changes that came after 4U were major game changers. New hunters, know that until pretty recently, mounting wasn't even a thing! Back in Tri and even earlier, we had to just keep poking it! 😂 I'm so glad to see how far we've all come and how we've remained united. Not many gaming communities are as diverse and friendly as ours, even if it's not perfect. And language barriers are barely even a thing! It's amazing.
I tried some MH Games when I was very young and back then I wasn't someone who would play a game like that. But I preordered World and loved it. Started playing MHGU a while ago and need to say that it often feels better than World, even tho it is clunkier. World seems so easy compared to MHGU.
Man, it was a giant change for me, it didn't take long to adjust though, i have only played MHW and MHGU and I love them both equally for two totally different reasons. I remember several years ago before I ever heard about MH, my friend lent me one of his games for me to try out, it didn't seem like the kind of game I would play but later, MHW came out and I decided to give it a try, it felt like a completely different game. once I tried MHGU, I enjoyed it a lot more than when I tried one of the older styles of MH before. MHW seems like a better game for people just getting into the game.
@Skygazer Don't you think the Monster Hunter community should be *inviting* to new people? Nobody wants to see this elitism and you're giving the playerbase a bad rep. Instead of belittling people for their unfamiliarity with the classic style of Monster Hunter (lest we forget we ALL were at that point one time), help them out, give 'em some tips, maybe you can even personally join them on a couple hunts to show them the ropes if you think yourself so capable, eh? You and the one above you both.
>Colourful, vibrant colours >Many many many more monsters with more outlandish designs >Many many more vibrant wacky armour sets and weapons (and much less copy-paste designs to boot) >G-Rank and Deviants >Potion flexing >Resource management (pickaxes/traps/whetstones/etc) >Paintballing I'm home. For as pretty as World is, I can't say it left much of a lasting impression on me. The QoL changes are a huge convenience, but that sort of streamlining and convenience wasn't ever what I wanted out of MH.
Well World is a brand new game. And the A-Team that made all your favorite MHs is working in World so expect some Batshit insane stuff in the G-Rank expansion. Rajang and Tigrex in World would be so amazing. Imagine Rajang hanging from the vines in Ancient Forest throwing logs at you.
the might drop a bomb and add a ton of monsters at once, would be dope, but they need to catch the PC up first G rank will be cool when it eventually comes
All your points are super valid, but the reason I cant be mad at MH:W at all is because its popularity will pave the way for the franchises future in western gaming. Dont know about you but I wont be mad at getting more Triple A level monster hunter games :D
Perspective I think. As a base game. I'll definitely avoid all points of your list to get better animation on monsters, weapons. A true open world for hunting. A better hit detection. A totally improved system of items, recollection and materials
It's so weird watching this now in the context of Rise coming out soon with elements of both games. Back to having separate solo and multi-player quests, but loading zones are still gone. Can't move nearly as fast while drinking a potion as you can in world, but you can still go back to camp and restock at any time
Josh Bennett by content you mean the same monster roster from 4U, 4, 3U, Tri, FU, etc. Generations just reused all the old monsters. But fanboys of the old games gotta hate on World because it’s new and popular I guess
@@BoJangles42 dont worry that dumb trend will greatly slow down after a few months when the elitists and fanboys will calm down a bit. Both games are great, plus mhw is far from being complete.
I must say, THANK YOU! Even tho I play the game in Spanish, when trying to find tutorials and help guides, I couldn't find one that I liked. I really felt all over the place. Thankfully I found your channel. You're very detailed when explaining everything and your quality definitely is top notch. You just gained a new subscriber 🦾
I had no problems going from world to generations on 3DS, then again my first Monster Hunter is Tri but I was Noob 10 yr old when I played Tri and I raged quit it once I got to the Gigginox, Didn't play another Monster Hunter game until World came out.
Honestly the main thing I feel when I look at these is an overall mood of "but why though." I don't have any problems with new systems of mechanics, it's just that seeing so many important QoL changes gone just makes me think "okay, but why didn't they fix this." Maybe because the Japanese game industry works differently or handheld games typically don't get patches or hotfixes, either way it feels kinda lazy, imo
@@XeroChilll well generations ultimate is essentially an english port of monster hunter xx (double cross). So theres really not much they can do with the engine. Im sure for future games theyll consider leaving in the changes.
Eric Logan i know you're joking but its 720p, besides the weapons and armor are better especially with design. Who doesn't want to go to a battle with your bare hands (its a dlc duel blades)
Generations Ultimate has the larger, more diverse roster. That's a fact. It starts slow, yes, but that's because MH is a hard game, it needed to start that way for a newcomer to learn such a punishing-restrictive but awesome gameplay. In time you'll be fighting leviathans, unicorns, raptors, wyverns, wolves, mammoths, dinosaurs, european dragons, asian dragons, mountainous dragons that actually attack you, krakens, giant spiders, giant insects, giant crabs, whale-crocodiles and maybe even something more human-created-like-thingy. Without a doubt MHW seems lacking in monsters, maps and weapon/armor designs... (can't deny it when in past games if you needed a specific elemental weapon you could actually choose between a decent amount) but really that's it. In any other way it is the evolution, the "better game". Even gameplaywise, it appears to have taken some inspiration from Styles and Arts and added them to the norm. I like to imagine what would be of MHW2 or any kind of sequel... just GREATNESS. Meanwhile, GUs massive content and colour and World's technicalities and continuous additions should suffice.
abraxasALP another thing that bothers me about World is that you kinda grind for no reason. Like I have all this gear but for what??? it needs G-rank and new monsters.
@@EvilEliNLV1 I kill monsters and hunt because it's fun. Same reason I played Killing Floor, Guild Wars 2, Warframe, Terraria, and Earth Defence Force 4.1.
@@Thalanox yeah but when you hit the skill ceiling in terms of content, and you've started getting bored of killing the same monsters then what? Are you going to move to other monhun? (I wish frontier was still alive :,( . )
@@adelynn3501 yeah I know, I never played generations it's the only game in the series because I had a feeling that there would be an "Ultimate" edition coming to the west after double cross came out for the switch.
The things mentioned here also show the little things that gave older MH it's own little character and charm, such as waving to a hot air balloon to help you track a monster. And like Arekkz said, the weapons and armor look soooooo much cooler too! Oh, and the gunners (especially the Bow) feels so much better in my opinion, and also a lot more challenging because you have a different armor set as a gunner.
@@user-we9pt4xg4j Different people feel differently about play styles. I too think bowgun is super boring, both types, but I played it for about 5 hours to get a real feel for it. Can't stand it in solo, very rarely I play it online
I’m finally jumping into Monster Hunter with the original Generations. A physical copy is on its way for my 3DS, brand new. I’m so happy to be a part of the community. Looking forward to the hunts to come.
@@cedrick1272 Best part of FU was getting to the point where you could reliably do Felyne Heroics runs on most of the Elder Dragons, especially White(I won't give his name as to not spoil anyone who doesn't know who I'm talking about).
Was genuinely surprised when I couldn’t get into MHW as my first game at all but love this iteration of MH. One of my all time favorite games. Just ordered 4U and 3U for 3DS!
Not gonna lie, I hated this franchise so much for the longest time. My friend gave me his copy Tri to try try out but just kinda....dropped me in and I had no idea what I was doing and obviously be used to other types of games and not knowing what this game was I was off put from this series. Although later I decided to give it another go with one of the 3ds games by getting the demo to try it out again, and being more experienced with how this game series worked (my friends would talk non-stop about it) I got a feel for it and its wasn't too bad. however being on the 3ds the controls were god awful and I still say that to this day. Then world came out, I tried the demo and fell in love and i'm still playing and enjoying it, now because of that and knowing that the switch controls will be much more fluid than the 3ds controls i'm actually going to buy a switch this Friday and grab GU with it since 2 of my friends are also going to be grabbing the game, and honestly i'm excited.
SuperHexer123 did your friend didn’t teach you to play the 3Ds game when he lend it to you? Bad friend... I would teach you to play the gams know it’s complete...
Well, too bad, since the 3DS is the old console type, and especially the C-stick is something that we need to mod to be easily used.i really wish that Nintendo actually used the dual joystick like the PS Vita, its easile to play in many different way.but hey, playing the old MH make me feel like im playing an older version of Dark Soul,an ancestor of the game.quite right until now.
I would also like to point out the uniqueness of hyper, as it isn't just a flat bullshit damage buff, but it highlights the monster's strong points and improves the moves corresponding to the glowing part.
Should've replaced the sharpness meter point with bow gun controls, I think that'll be a much bigger shift for Fivers. I have an uncomfortable feeling that a lot of people won't like the game which sucks because I'm gonna be playing this untill the cows come home.
The bit in monster aggro for world was a deliberate decision by the creators of the series. It was made that way because they wanted to make the monsters feel alive and part of the ecosystem other than through the ecology cinematics.
As someone going into GUfrom world I'm loving it~ still don't see that much different difficulty wise but the mood feels so much butter than the bland realism of world
Honestly i prefer MHGU because i like the paint balls system, the loading, even the graphics. (Edit) definitely the changes in world are awesome, I wouldn't like if they removed them in future games.
I knew you were hardcore into this series beforehand, but it's still nice to see someone with gameplay that clearly shows you've put real time into the game, rather than other videos I've seen where it was obvious they were still in the lowest of low rank quests and had no prior experience with the series other than World.
@@danielniel3932same here, played trough mhfu1 and 2 on psp, 3u+4u on 3ds and gu on switch, got my new mh rise custom skin switch now^^ wohoo (and world on pc ofcourse^^)
Key Quest system should have been explained. Basically there are certain quest you need to do to progress, and you don't have to do them all, these however are never labeled in game. so you really need to look up which ones are and aren't.
MystiInferno in general I start to do the side quests that are obtained through speaking with npc and then every slay/capture quest and the most attractive collect quests. Normally does the job to let me progress without too much struggle.
Newbies to the series would probably be better off doing the quests by themselves instead of looking up key quests, otherwise they'll have blitzed into a much too difficult HR without any of the prior preparation. There's a reason the game starts with gathering quests - they're there to teach you how to gather useful items like herbs, which you'll do during the quest. (The nodes are often the same)
I beat MH Rise, and decided to pick up generations while I wait for more content. Ima get world on PC next steam sale but until then playing gen ultimate. I beat the monster of the day on online with my brand new character. It almost had me i went through all my potions, first aids, and was down to 1 herb before beating it. I nearly gave up until I saw it weaken. I thought wasn't doing close to enough. MH Rise didn't really have a hard enough difficulty for me. You either totally spank it, or purposefully go in weaker, and the weapons just don't do enough & you can time out even if you are playing perfectly. I liked Rise I just felt like it needed something so hopefully generations scratches the itch
Arekkz weapon workshop videos for GU? Hell yeah, time to relearn my favorite weapons, starting the demo coming from world took me a mean minute to unlearn the things I learned in World
Well, yeah,i mean, which system are you playing in ? Im using the new 2DS.and 4U ran perfectly fine w a unstable but nice 60FPS.and XX go along w solid 30,but isnt eyes candy at all
It feels good going back to this game's roots. With the knowledge and experience, the monsters will be rather easy for veterans. The new elder dragon will be the challenge.
3:58 "You have the Monster Hunter flex" [shudders] That just reminds me of the launch party for Tri I went to where I did that flex as part of an imitation contest and had people laugh at me when I almost fell down the stairs imitating the Geat Sword side swing. -_-
U forgot to mention that even though there r no turf wars, but the monsters do damage eachother if they hit eachother while hitting u, so players can use it to their advantage.
The quick list for reference: 1. Quest Structure: Village vs Hub and the Single/Multiplayer Split 2. Map zones: No more open world 3. Time your heals: The Monster Hunter Flex 4. Prep Before your Quest: No tent or canteen on the hunt 5. Tracking Monsters: Paintballs... 6. Gathering: Slow and bring pickaxes and nets... ugh... 7. Monster Aggro: They always hate you 8. Armor Skills: Threshold of 10 to activate, more for stronger versions, decos are craftable instead of charms 9. Blademaster vs Gunner Armor sets: These terms actually mean something. Also Transmog! 10. Weapon Differences: Goodbye fluidity, hello styles and arts 11. Weapon Sharpness: I know what you're thinking: "Did he swing six times or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. And don't forget your whetstones. 12.More Cats: The Fifteenth Weapon
This video gave me nostalgia from the other versions of the game especially monster hunter freedom that game pulled me to being a hunter of today so yeah I think I love it now and back then, new thing in world made it a little bit easier but made it a lot of environment awareness
Btw anyone remember the hassle getting that rathalos gem then if you got it your device got low batt and you need to do it again like if you run into this problem which is funny
I think the Scoutflies are the only real con for me. They flash bang your screen, yank your camera ruthlessly when you're busy doing something, and aren't even necessary. Sticking to World, nice vid.
tbh the qol changes in World make it hard for me to go back to the old MH format now. But it's not like I own a switch anyways Really hope capcom will focus on updating content for world instead of just being a one time game with a few dlcs :/
I'm guessing from now on they will be working off of the world template rather than the old one. World is what the devs have always dreamed of monster hunter becoming, especially if you look at the cutscenes from the older games. They were finally able to implement all the monster interactions and mechanics, and the feeling of actually tracking the monster they've always wanted. And they said in an interview they were very excited to fully utilize the dlc system on consoles and pc they weren't ever able to have, so I'm hoping they might even do a G-Rank dlc rather than the usual new game for G-Rank like they usually do.
Also to note that he did not cover, head gear is the exception to that rule. You can wear a gunner head with the blade master armor if you need that extra point in a skill, but you sacrifice a bit of defense, and vice versa
I really hope they bring the underwater fights back. MH Tri for the wii was the first mh i played. I really miss the more difficult and different underwater fights
I've played and 100% every single Monster Hunter game since the very first entry on PS2 but it's seriously hard to go from World to Gen Ultimate. World has so many quality of life improvements that the series needed since its very first game. Yeah World lacks in monsters and there's no G Rank (although I bet Capcom will add it in the form of an expansion or inevitably World Ultimate). Honestly not only is Gen Ultimate a Directors Cut of an almost 5+ year old game if you count XX release but it just feels like several steps backwards from World. If honestly playing a clunkier version of a game makes you feel more of a "veteran" go ahead but if the next true iteration of Monster Hunter goes back from World I won't be buying it.
finally, I've gone tired of scrolling down through the few 'load more comments' only to see these vets throwing shades on those who started on world. Like, okay I get it you been with the series since game one, I don't have that opportunity don't be a pain.
@@donloder1 it's nostalgia. I played older MH but hey World is full of improvements. Yeah sure Ultimate has more weapons, armors, monsters, items, but people think that World only focused on graphics. Hell no.
Yes lets respond to the bitching by acting the exact same way but with the opposite stand point. Heres better idea, stop scrolling through the damn comment section, it doesnt matter what others think, play the game you want to play.
AlshepType More monsters, maps, weapons, armor and ways to play is a big deal. Its not about picking a lesser game to seem hardcore. Its about playing the superior monster hunter game depth wise. Even you can't disagree with MHGU depth over world even if you like quality of life changes while sacrificing depth of play some of us dont want that.
AE Lafuente The only reason to play world is to battle monsters and build weps and armor... if MHGU offers more its the better game. Graphics and making things easier for lazy people doesnt make world better.
So world was my training arc huh? The real show will begin soon then, if I pull through and manage to survive MHGU I'll start hunting and relate to the old huntsman
Um mhw also has aggro it depends entirely on the monster like rathlos he will aggro if he walks by u in clear sight there are also a few more mhw just tries to be abit realistic with aggro as every monster shouldn’t always have an immediate aggressive nature also another thing to note is some monsters will aggro you immediately if you are in their main territory like diablo he aggro me quite a lot when he spotted me..
Uh? Aggro monster is actually a huge part of MH since day 1. In Aggro mode, monster had more power in attack and the whole skill that it has turns into something that really hard to dodge, unless you had killed it for at least 3 times.
And the immediate aggro, well, welcome to our world again my bro.just like the time that i gotta fight a Rathian in MH3U. One step into the territory which were having its eggs and after 3 seconds, the first thing i realized was half of my health bar gone becaus of the monster's "Aggro"
For new world players ... No moving while drinking a potion *GASP* also whetstone isn't a infinite use item in here so don't forget to bring one or more. Also no turf war so if a rajang or a deviljho comes in well you're fucked or you can use a dung bomb to make them leave. No restocking so you need to be prepare for ever hunt! Also if you carted there's no eating again so yeah. No mantle, no SOS flare so if you can't kill the monster just abandon quest! No scoutflies meaning you have to use paintballs so don't forget to bring them too. Also you have to get use to the loading screen between area so yeah you have to get use to it. GOOD LUCK NEWCOMERS AND HAPPY HUNTING!!!
Tbh, I really would prefer if CAPCOM also release MHGU on PC, PS4, XBOXONE like MHW. Therefore Veterans & newcomers will have both options. I really doubt it will create a clash of sales between both games. In fact, both games might boost the sales of each other 'cause more people will experiences MH series as a whole.
Also the game was made with data transfer from the 3ds in mind since mhg was only for 3ds and there was a function to transfer your save data to the next game
Problem with that is that Japanese games have a tendency to be super console exclusive. Hell its a miracle the world got released the same time in America with two consoles.
Here's the thing, a lot of the veterans bought a console for MH. Many played on the 3DS. I am not saying that people will buy a Switch for this, although some definitely will. However! The Switch is selling reallllly well, to the point that I think many veterans probabably already owned a Switch even before MHGU was confirmed to be localized. I could he wrong, but luckily for me, I am one of those that already own a Switch and bought MHGU day 1.
I recently bought a nintendo switch and wanted to go back to MH with childhood friends. I saw reviews about how GU is not a good game, but now I see that a lot of players are used to world. GU is the MH I am used to playing back in the PS2 and the PSP. Thank you for the video now I understand the reviews.
I like the mission structure in MHW. But I just can't help but feel the randomized investigations are a bit lazy. In the older games, the quests are tailor made to provide various types of challenges using different hand-picked modifiers and map scripts. Not to mention hunt-a-thons are the most satisfying things ever, especially when playing solo.
Mr Person Face it’s the same Graphics as the 3DS it didn’t improve that much that why they didn’t release MHW in the switch that why they Release MHGU in the switch duo to Graphic
In the past, a true hunter was one third a miner, one third a build master and the last third a hunter XD the thing is you may finish your build in mhw in 1 day from nothing, but in mhxx simply gem farming and talisman farming can takes you literal months. Tenderness 6 with 3 slots took me 100+ hours.
Yeah, kinda weird to see that Talisman and Decoration is actually really OP,but technically they are just another option to buff up your armor's stat so that you can easily get those stats in no time
Dalamadur bow, shae dalamdur... I needed kill both 25+ times each.... Tell me that thats oke xD.... Ive found the most boring spot to spam normal arrowd and fall asleep lol
Been with the series since mhf and I've gotta say mhw just did so many amazing things for qol. The end game is a bit lacking right now but give it time guys, there's more to come.
I started with mh3 and i think what i like the most about MHW is that the universe feels more coherent and realistic. No loading screens between areas goes a long way. Base game is lacking in end game content but Iceborn fixed it.
Playing the XX on my new 2DS.and currently upgrading from the Maccao set, which made me look like a jungle hunter, into the big toad set.Tetsucabra one, which is awesome.since there are two option to choose in the set,i picked the first one, because its make my character looks like a powerful Samurai, but the second isnt as cool since its more like a Ninja set,but still cool with the claws and shit.damn i love it
The best thing I'm loving right now about MHGU on the Switch is that I can pause it anytime and pick up where I left off anytime. So much better than going all through that loading process in MHW!!
That's a proper comparison between the two different experiences. MHW is an attempt to bringer the game to the west. ANY OTHER MH game is the true experience. This is an awesome breakdown for the MHW people to quickstart MH games.
One thing that was missed is the map. It's seen multiple times, and I'm sure people can put the numbers together so it's a minor thing. For anyone reading this, maps are always in the blue supply box, and unless you know the maps and monster spawn locations/movement patterns then it's recommended you save a slot in your bag for it =)
the multiplayer in mh nowdays is so unpersonal, most of the player just rush trough the mission without any conversation, i don't understand the dumb 16 player sever, you never interact with the people and in the hunt randoms join you, so the server have absolutley no purpose. The older system is the best you can make 4 such a game. You must choose a server or make a own one, but only 3 other people can join you and you have to communicate to make quest choices. In my 300 hrs in mhw i never ever talkt to one person
I'm hoping this is on sale tomorrow. World is one of my favourite games of all time & I want to get into an older game before playing Rise. I'm not too fussed about anything but fighting monsters... In games like Dark Souls I usually get so focused in Zen mode that I forget to look at their HP and always end up killing them way quicker than I expect & being kinda underwhelmed, so MH games seen to fit that long length full-focus battles that I enjoy.
@@lubbo5261 Thanks, but I already found a 50% off pre-owned physical copy in my local store last month. I also bought physicals of MH3U & MH4U as well. I'm 50 hours in & Lance really clicked with me, but I've been playing Elden Ring so I haven't played it in a couple of weeks.
@@helligevaar Sorry, I haven't played anything since Elden Ring. I'm going to continue soon. It feels clunky at first, but once a weapon clicks with you it gets addicting. You start to feel the flow of battle & destroy the monsters (like counter thrusting with lance). Just when you think it's peaked BOOM Hunter Art special moves to lay the hurt, and it isn't a free power-up, you still gotta aim & position yourself for a maximised attack, or skip that entirely and use a more supportive hunter art rather than a power move. I've liked MHW/MHGU/Iceborne so much that I now own MH3U, MH4U & Rise as well.
Nintendo kid who could never get into old Monster Hunter games until World came out and I binged the heck out of it with my MH Vet friends on Xbox. I still think MHW is simply a better game, but as every one of my controllers have dead zones and I don’t feel like replacing them for $50 pre-owned each, along with the now dry well of MHW content as many note, MHGU on my Switch gives me the chance to experience the old games people love so much and play them on a comfortable portable and home console. It feels like playing Ocarina or Majora after finishing BotW and it makes for a fun experience in its own right, even if not due to version superiority.
We may not have all the QoL, but we sure have months worth of content and variety, to the point where even the same weapon can feel like a completely different beast by just changing style. Adept-Dives straight through oblivion, just to emerge unscathed and punishing the enemy with a power move? Yes, please.Being a cute little cat that is an expert not only at gathering without items, but also dish out damage that seems surreal at times? Welcome to Prowler Mode. And now finally with a proper controller and a big screen once again. N3DS was fun, but boy did that tiny screen and the "C-Stick" tire me out after weeks of play...
I purchased a 3ds just for gen. But couldnt get on with the handheld despite the fun game, now i just purchased a switch and a pro controller. Cant wait to start
well, welcome to our community, where old players and newcomers are bashing each other.1 week had past, and you can kindly click on these comment to check things out.kinda fun i supposed
Its good its not in gu. I thought the ability to change armor, access item box and eat at camp were the most ridiculously easy things they could add to the game. It kills the variety in playstyles as people can now just switch to the most optimal build all the time. Back then we had this saying that 80% of the hunt was the preperation and this was too true. People are much less reckless in the older monster hunters and much more careful with their resources because once you used something up that was it unless you had things in the field to craft them again. In world you can use up everything willy nilly and not give a damn cause it'll take you about 30 seconds to get back to camp and fill it all back up
JAJAvsWORLD that is tru too, theres already this one person on steam thst was complaining about this nice QoL already, and its just like, "dude, stfu and just play. Would you rather they had taken the restocking out and become like the older generations?" Too bad i couldnt comment as what i wanted to also tell them was that MHW WAS trying to make world more realistic than game material
As an MH3 veteran, it being the only MH game I've played till the PC release of MHW, this was a great nostalgia trip and brought me right back to how MH used to be. Sadly though, I don't see myself being able to go back to the old style since playing MHW and with it and all its fantastic streamlining of gameplay mechanics and 'quality of life' improvements. Even as someone who hadn't played a MH game between MH3 and MHW, I still find MHW very easy and that's the biggest problem I have with it so far. They took the old concept of having offline low/high rank and online low/high rank, but mashed it all together so anyone can play online at any point, but in the process has destroyed the difficulty leap from the old system. The tempered monsters atm just seem to me like a stopgap till we get a true 'online high rank', let alone a G-rank equivalent.

@@laggalot1012 there's been a few times that I've forgotten to restock my whetstone supply

Or both
If the first DLC for world is foccused on expending the end game it will be perfect.
Agreed. Not temporary fights
Exactly, I am hoping to see new monster hunter with mhw style but better.
I'll still be playing both
What I am looking forward to is the next MH game after world that is portable. As I would hope it would keep the fluidity of World with the breadth of the other MH games. The other MH games always felt stilted to me compared to world.
Note for greatswords who started in world. Generations does not have true charge or tackle. You have regular charge and strong charge. This makes crit draw a lot more viable than it was in world
Havoc 13 and block fucking block if u hold a greatsword
Yeah, block.a big advantage in playstyle since the monster here are wayyyyyy harder to kill than the W
world also nerfed the first two attacks sadly which made crit draw unviable
Crit draw works with the Katana attacks though which is neat.
@@JackgarPrime Yes and even the ones you forget such as timing your potion taking because of the flexing!
WolfyMelon hey mate I love your piano covers!! Looking forward to more of your videos when gen u comes out!!

I can't even imagine what it's like starting in World and then going to GU. My cousin has a buddy that saw me playing MHGU and he literally went "Oh my god, she's playing the old school Monster Hunter!"
It blows my mind how many people became our fellow hunters through that game. That's why I love World. But for me, I think the changes that came after 4U were major game changers. New hunters, know that until pretty recently, mounting wasn't even a thing! Back in Tri and even earlier, we had to just keep poking it! 😂
I'm so glad to see how far we've all come and how we've remained united.
Oh, and dont forget the submarine fights in the tri version. I need those comming back.
MHW seems like a better game for people just getting into the game.
freedom unite was true pain

Don't give up on it, it's awesome when you get acostumed to it

Instead of belittling people for their unfamiliarity with the classic style of Monster Hunter (lest we forget we ALL were at that point one time), help them out, give 'em some tips, maybe you can even personally join them on a couple hunts to show them the ropes if you think yourself so capable, eh?

Laggalot101 the problem is the "new players" actually the ones not even giving a chance to higher level of MH.

I'm home.
You do realize that MHW is still a new game (just came out this year) and the devs aren't through with it, don't you?
It's so weird watching this now in the context of Rise coming out soon with elements of both games. Back to having separate solo and multi-player quests, but loading zones are still gone. Can't move nearly as fast while drinking a potion as you can in world, but you can still go back to camp and restock at any time
People going to GU from World will begin to see just how spoiled we are in MHW
Dash yeah but at least Generations has CONTENT!!!!!
Josh Bennett by content you mean the same monster roster from 4U, 4, 3U, Tri, FU, etc. Generations just reused all the old monsters. But fanboys of the old games gotta hate on World because it’s new and popular I guess

Players new to the series through world are probably watching this like "Dear god how did older players get by? No moving while healing?"
The flexing motion is quicker than the gradual heal from potions at least without speed eating + You can go to a different loading zone....
@@XeroChilll well generations ultimate is essentially an english port of monster hunter xx (double cross). So theres really not much they can do with the engine.

Mh4u is my favorite. Damn it's good... I think I have like 1000 hours in that game.
MH4U was such a great game, my only problems with it was Apex monsters and Guild Quests, especially when it was a Lvl 140 Apex Jho/Rajang.
Chaotic Gore Magala was fun to kill too
The online presence isn't dead I still play from time 2 time
Generations Ultimate has the larger, more diverse roster.

And like Arekkz said, the weapons and armor look soooooo much cooler too! Oh, and the gunners (especially the Bow) feels so much better in my opinion, and also a lot more challenging because you have a different armor set as a gunner.

The bit in monster aggro for world was a deliberate decision by the creators of the series. It was made that way because they wanted to make the monsters feel alive and part of the ecosystem other than through the ecology cinematics.

Every quest is worth to do, even for learning and practicing, they're just not enough!
I think he has or is doing one. But I know GaijinHunter already has.

2. Map zones: No more open world
3. Time your heals: The Monster Hunter Flex
4. Prep Before your Quest: No tent or canteen on the hunt
5. Tracking Monsters: Paintballs...
6. Gathering: Slow and bring pickaxes and nets... ugh...
7. Monster Aggro: They always hate you
8. Armor Skills: Threshold of 10 to activate, more for stronger versions, decos are craftable instead of charms
9. Blademaster vs Gunner Armor sets: These terms actually mean something. Also Transmog!
10. Weapon Differences: Goodbye fluidity, hello styles and arts
11. Weapon Sharpness: I know what you're thinking: "Did he swing six times or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. And don't forget your whetstones.

tbh the qol changes in World make it hard for me to go back to the old MH format now. But it's not like I own a switch anyways
Really hope capcom will focus on updating content for world instead of just being a one time game with a few dlcs :/
@Chuck Nourrizzz that's 40 for you btw. And it has way lesser content compared to it's prequels at the expense of it's graphics.

But then can you wield any gun or melee weapon at all? Since the prequel didnt let you wear the type of armor that doest fit with each other?

AlshepType More monsters, maps, weapons, armor and ways to play is a big deal. Its not about picking a lesser game to seem hardcore. Its about playing the superior monster hunter game depth wise.
One step into the territory which were having its eggs and after 3 seconds, the first thing i realized was half of my health bar gone becaus of the monster's "Aggro"
mhw replaced aggro the with enraged.. plus I played the old mhs before I'm aware I'm just telling him that mhw has aggro.
GOOD LUCK NEWCOMERS
AND HAPPY HUNTING!!!
Not going to happen. Not when there are Nintendo themed weapons and armor in the game.
@@awesomesauce5974 youre talking as though there weren't HZD costumes in the PS4 version of world
I recently bought a nintendo switch and wanted to go back to MH with childhood friends.
4:52 thats literally how i played world until i got to alatreon i didn't know i was able to restock in the camp
Does this apply to going from rise to generations?
Yes.
I had to pause at 4:36 because it's my first time seeing the graphical improvements to the 3DS hunting areas
Someone tell me where that dragon gets it’s jet fuel
I started with mh3 and i think what i like the most about MHW is that the universe feels more coherent and realistic. No loading screens between areas goes a long way.
Base game is lacking in end game content but Iceborn fixed it.
The only thing I ask for world to have is Bad Ass Looking Armor!
Dreadking armor (female)
Andres Baquerizo I think Val Hazak and odogaron armor are the only good looking ones in mhw for Females.
@@josevelasquez7127 exactly 🤣
World was my first game, and I am really looking forward to playing this. Thank you for the tips.
Who else is a veteran hunter?
Day 1 hunter here.
Generations Ultimate is on sale right now.
2 months later, what do you think of it so far? I'm getting mhgu soon :)
Damn, players really were spoiled in MHW. Time for the *REAL* grind.
I came back to the series at a good time. We actually have a fan base that fights with each other.
Number 1 thing to get used to: Prepare yourself for way more ANIME!
Helmbreaker Vs Critical Juncture
Specially with all the anime events in the game.
I'm planning on playing this on the switch. I haven't played any of the MH games and World so this will be a first
Any Bowgun users out there?
Piercing LBG, my true love xD
Yes my brethren we shall rise! \T^T/ *reloads HBG*
All around weapon user here! Praise the return of HBG's siege mode!
ayyyyy
I purchased a 3ds just for gen. But couldnt get on with the handheld despite the fun game, now i just purchased a switch and a pro controller. Cant wait to start
Oh boy time to see a ton of comments about how bad MHW supposedly is.
KrazyBean14 I like world more then Gen the only thing is different it’s more monster that all
well, welcome to our community, where old players and newcomers are bashing each other.1 week had past, and you can kindly click on these comment to check things out.kinda fun i supposed
4:00
That armor/outfit looks badass..
DUDE... I’ve put 100 hours in pc monster hunter. Just recently learned you can change your gear at camp. Just now learned you can eat at camp
Lol
And now, if you go back to GU, it'll all be gone...*sniff*
Well,World only.if you go with the prequel,no eating nor changing item at camp.only at the Village,in your house
Main difference: the game ain't a cakewalk ;)
Except, world aint a cakewalk lol, now ive played mh gen on my ds, and world on my pc, they both difficult in their own way
Man even with the ";)" at the end. Do you really need the ego boost that much lol?
I'm surprised people still can't recognize bait
Now insert "Next thing you are going to say: I was only pretending to be retarded.jpg"
@@nath7486 gen is quite easy tbh bc of the hunter arts. Now MHFU...
That shit will give you ptsd
Portability is so important for me when it comes to MH. Its a part of the reason I cant get super super into world.
im imagining the struggle of the new gu players who came from world
The drink and flex is still faster than the drink animation in world.
Yes, but is completely immobile. I dont have a problem with either, but there are distict advantages to the world system
