It's worth noting that you don't need to hold Y when doing Valor cancel attacks. There's a bit of a delay between pressing Y and putting your weapon away, so you can tap Y and then A, X, R, or X+A. The timing's different for each weapon on when you can start pressing and how long you have, but there you have it.
I like this guy because his love of the Monster Hunter series is just so pure. You can just tell that he fuckin loves these games and wants to share them with everyone.
I am so impressed by the quality of these videos, not only for beginners but returning vets like me. Keep it up man these tutorials are amazing. (This is really helping my friends get into the game)
Thanks alot, after 100h of MHGU, i was kinda struggling to find a weapon class that clicked with me, kinda circle around LS / GS and SnS depending on the elemental weakness of X monster. While i did enjoy those classes alot, it wasn't a perfect match. After trying Dual Blades and learning Valor style thanks to your video, I'm in love with DB, so aggressive, so much mobility, it's a perfect match :) thanks al ot Gajin! Safe Hunts
Thanks for these videos! MHGU is the first monster hunter game for me, my room mate, and my youngest brother, as we all recently got switches and were looking for something to play together, and these videos have been a big help in both choosing a starting weapon & style, and learning how to use it. After watching this video I decided to cut my teeth on aerial/dual blades, since it looks fun and flashy and comparatively pretty simple. So far it's been a lot of fun. Not sure what I'll branch into next.
I want to like Alchemy Style, I really do, but Papa Capcom really screwed it up by making Valor so good it almost feels like any other choice is inferior. lol
Aerial is really a blast to play as with dual blades nowhere is ths monster safe legs back wings you become the Oprah Winfrey of mhgu every part gets a slash
"this skill takes forever to charge up, so by the time you can use it, the hunt will almost be over" The giga Chad alchemy user In the group: _think again_
Valor style really makes almost every other style for each weapon feel like they aren't on par. Few weapons (for me) have a style that I prefer to Valor style. One obviously being the Insect Glaive, because duh Aerial.
In my opinion: Guild: Standard, all-round style Striker: Newbie friendly, can be a good damage dealer especially with the new spinning hunter art and the constant spam of demon dance Aerial: Attack on Titan, anyone? Haha. Really fun to play and one of the best weapons and styles to use for mounting (apart from insect glaive) Adept: Difficult to play but if you master this, you're invulnerable. Most of the time. (AKA expert mode) Alchemy: I still don't know which weapon is good for this style. Hunting Horn, maybe? Looks very "support-ish" to me. I probably won't even use this style for Dual Blades. Valor: Broken. Haha Overall, I'm very happy that Gaijin Hunter decided to make tutorials for MHGU as I don't have a good PC nor a PS4/Xbox to play MHW. It's still a very good tutorial and it always has been since my first MH game which was MH4U. I've liked this video. Keep it up!
Striker ds is not newbie friendly because you NEED dash/mega dash juice Striker ds is overall the broken style not brave (valor) because striker has the combos at the start, brave need a litle time to get good moves the huge point is: hunter arts brave only have 1 the combos are amasing yeah but striker use 3 arts that full up faster so you can go for "inner demon" 1 or 3 because 2 and 3 are xl arts you can put an SP on it and it need the same full up time with no SP "rasensan" 3 (or other dmg arts you like) is for the sec slot and in the last slot you use "absolute readiness" btw if you are in sp mode with striker your arts full up a bit WITH OUT hiting, a brutal fact for striker style users is also using dmg arts like rasensan etc with a activ inner demon this combo can only use gild striker and alchemy but gild cant rise the sharpnis in battle with this 2 arts so only striker and alchemy has the potential to use this 3 art combo BUUUT as you hear alchemy lose a bit of the moves + alchemy dont get a naturel art boost like striker so going with striker ds is more for ds "pros"
Stuff like this is why they nerfed Dash Juice in MHW. (Even so, reduced stamina cost can still get ridiculous, just look at the Constitution+Latent Power combo)
A friend of mine, the one who introduced me to Monster Hunter, kind of spoiled me on DB long ago. He only played it once he had a consistent source of Dash Juice/MDJ and absolutely wrecked, so for a long time I felt like that was the only valid way to play it. That was way back in MH3 (if you're old like me that might not seem that long but it was over 8 and a half years ago my dudes). I still felt that way through MHW. But screw that, thanks to GH I'm going to finally work on using DB outside of "optimized" conditions when MHGU comes out next week!
Draukagrissah You meant MH3U or MHP3rd, right? Because Dual Blades weren't actually in the original MH3 for some reason. But yeah, they are definitely usable outside of the ideal conditions. However, with said conditions, you can just use Adept Dual Blades and be completely untouchable if you know how to dodge. Because something that GaijinHunter failed to mention in his tutorial is that you get full invincibility frames if you follow up the Adept Dodge in Demon/Arcdemon mode with Demon Dashes. Up to 3 times. That's like 4 seconds of invincibility right there. GenU seems to have nerfed the Adept style, but he didn't say anything if that was nerfed as well.
Great video. I couldn't understand this demon mode and demon dash stuff for the longest time. The way the game explains it, I thought it was something that triggered when you did a certain amount of damage like the special moves (Blood Wind), not something that you toggled in and out of by pressing R. Basically, I thought pressing R just made the thing go and then expire, not that I was actually toggling in and out of something and I could turn it off before my stamina expired and now I actually understand how it all works. Did you cover the super combos while in archedemon mode? The X, X, Combo (X+A), X sequence or the Combo (X+A), X, A, X sequence? These are special sequences only accessable while in archdemon mode according to the tutorial menu. I am having to practice getting them down, but it seems worthwhile.
Holy shit... I was never such a fan of the Valor mode, since you have to maintain a bar, and bar-management isn't my thing in MH... but after this video, I just have to kick my Switch on to play around with Valor DB! Thanks for the video!
In mhgu, the slingshot from the special attack button is a bit inconvenient because it is on the left hand side. In a fast paced game like MH, I don’t like to stop in my tracks to do a move. This is why I like aerial DB because in demon mode, you CAN do the slingshot on the ground. In the other styles, in demon mode you have no distance-closing moves other than the inconvenient special attack slingshot. PS: My special attack button is the minus button. PPS: I play mhgu on a switch.
I want MHGU! I played a lot of MHXX and I like it even more than MHW. MHW is not bad, but I played it through too fast. At MHW, I'm still waiting for more content. I hope for an very big update for MHW.
I still prefer Adept over Valor tbh, I don't like the concept of being useless until I get into Valor mode, also Valor mode can't be quickly recharged like the arch demon mode. It's still sucks that arch demon gauge recover after adept evade is gone but it's not that big of a deal. G rank monsters are so aggressive that you can literally kill them but just adept evading.
Is there a way to do the slingshot in Demon Mode on the Switch? Because you can’t tap on a special button on the screen to do it automatically. I know a way to do the slingshot is to do one spinning twirl to the slingshot, but can you do the slingshot in Demon Mode from idle or without doing a combo?
Perhaps you've figured it out in the three years since your comment, but the function of the 3DS "touchscreen button" has been moved to the minus button on Switch.
Will we need to download an application from the e-shop to transfer our 3DS data to the switch? I'm guessing it'll be the same as it was for mhx to mhxx? haven't seen anything on the e-shop referring to mhgu so i was wondering if it'll be any different. definitely want to transfer my save data to jump right into g-rank :-)
TiltingArt It was very necessary. It made any fight a complete joke as long as you had Dash Juices. As a Dual Blades main, I've complained a lot about how dumb Adept style was back in Gen. I felt dirty using it because with the experience with the weapon I had, I could literally solo Grimclaw Tigrex and Silverwind Nargacuga without even getting hit once. No weapon in Monster Hunter should make you pretty much invincible without any risk. Now you actually need to take risks and go back to Demon Mode every now and then.
Totally agree it was very OP as I main them as well, but still was very fun experience to get away with it, because you still had to dodge correctly to get your reward. It felt really satisfying to hit all of those well placed dodges. And ew I don't use dash juices I actually didn't need them at all. But yeah coming now from MHW I'm looking forward for having more risks like this with every wep to feel difficutly again !
TiltingArt My main issue with them was that following an Adept Evade with a Demon Dash gave you full i-frames. Since you can chain them 3 times, it gave you almost a 4-seconds window of invincibility that you can cancel out with an attack at any time. I don't mind it being an option, but it should require Evasion skills for it. Then I wouldn't care anymore.
By the way, I didn't bother using Dash Juices either. It was my way of giving a risk factor to Adept DBs that would remove my guilt without stopping using them entirely.
I’m having an issue with the “sling shot” with adept style. Is it will only activate during “arch-demon mode”. Is it me? Or what’s going on I didn’t see it addressed here QQ
Tried and tried to like alchemy DB. Used it for like 20 quests in a row. Like striker, it just felt really lackluster. Never really used the alchemy barrel. You can't really beat adept and valor. Aerial has always been fun. Even guild beats out alchemy with access to all the moves. I don't want to say I hated alchemy, because the DB's are already good. But with valor and adept it's really hard to compete. Besides with DB's the point is to maintain a flurry of constent attacks. Pulling out the alchemy barrel and searching through it takes far to much time. But if you want to play support DB's be my guest. But really leave that to the SNS and Light Bowgun users. DB's are not meant to stop attacking.
the dual blades are neat. but what if i told you that there is a weapon that is almost as good at dealing quick elemental damage, has a shield, can stun monsters, and awesome aerial attacks both going up a ledge and jumping down one and you can use items with the weapon out? would you believe me?
Gaijin or anybody who knows why are tho miton values broken down so much for example normal (x + a) Lunging strike combo you have as 7 +7, 7+7 why is it broken down like that ? In my mind its 14,14 since its a 2 hit combo & would that be 14% being if attack shown in game of lvl 1 twin daggers being 70. Meaning raw damage is 50. Would that be 50 ×.14 ? Im just confused as to how can I calculate this damage lol if my question doesnt make sense im sorry I tend to make things more complicated then they are
13:06 "recover 6 units of sharpness as well", 12 attacks worth of sharpness with razor sharp but there isn't a 0.5 sharpness lost multiplier : 12 attacks without razor sharp and 24 with?
You can also do aerial spin off a climbable wall. Brave DBs won't be that popular though. They are good but not as popular as something like brave hbg.
Hey gaijin i was hunting the valstrax and found something interesting on his tower. There are some kind of energy veins. Could you check it out. Maybe you'll find more than I did.
He's probably referring to the 3DS version. On the bottom screen, theres a prompt that allows you to do special attacks. I haven't actually watched this video, but i've played MHGen on the 3DS so i'm assuming that's what he's talking about.
I didn't watch the entire thing because I gotta sleep but All I know is that the recovery frames after each attack is so low that you don't need to worry about attacking at the wrong time
P R Q it looks like gaijin is doing them in order, so probably the next ones will be: Hammer > Hunting Horn > Lance > Gunlance > Switch Axe > Charge Blade > Insect Glaive.
For some reason I was hoping u would refined the video from the Wii switch. it feels this is from the ND3s. But since I'm grateful for ur video my dude
How do i maintain valor mode after i get it? the normal valor attacks dont fill that much. i've been using the X one but ill go for X+A now. i was using aerial in gen but i think ill use valor db now, or adept bow.
Landing attacks refills them a tiny bit and the sheathing attacks still refill but not enough to keep it going forever, eventually it runs out and you have to start from scratch
Sorry if I'm being annoying cause probably many ppl have asked this question but would mhgu come out for the west on 3ds or is that not gonna become a reality?

Note that the two demon-dashes after an adabt-evade don't need any stamina and you're also invincible!!
Excuse me, but i didn't understand how to do the slingshot.
What is the special button on our touchscreen ?
You can map it to start and if you're using a switch it's minus, it's the kick button when you have your weapons out and are in rage mode
I love DB, it’s a big stress reliever for me
Amo gs e dual Blade ótimas armas principalmente a dual com skills de crítico muito apelona
Holy shit...
I was never such a fan of the Valor mode, since you have to maintain a bar, and bar-management isn't my thing in MH... but after this video, I just have to kick my Switch on to play around with Valor DB!

I mostly like GS -Valor and LS - Valor
The Brave-dash reminds me of the Strider's Mad Dash in Dragon's Dogma.
how do you do the stationary slingshot strike on a switch/
I really hate farming dash juice
So valor style is really my jam
In mhgu, the slingshot from the special attack button is a bit inconvenient because it is on the left hand side. In a fast paced game like MH, I don’t like to stop in my tracks to do a move. This is why I like aerial DB because in demon mode, you CAN do the slingshot on the ground. In the other styles, in demon mode you have no distance-closing moves other than the inconvenient special attack slingshot. PS: My special attack button is the minus button. How to do the slingshot attack on switch when in demon mode?
You have to click the minus button
I still prefer Adept over Valor tbh, I don't like the concept of being useless until I get into Valor mode, also Valor mode can't be quickly recharged like the arch demon mode.
It's still sucks that arch demon gauge recover after adept evade is gone but it's not that big of a deal.
G rank monsters are so aggressive that you can literally kill them but just adept evading.
adept sounds promising for the weapon, since the sheathing stance is both defensive and offensive, plus that new dash sounds promising
Aerial dbs are so sexy, they work perfectly for me because I suck at avoiding shit
Perfect guide! Thanks man!

The demon charge removal of Adept DB was very not necessary, but I guess get's compensated with the Valor.
TiltingArt It was very necessary. It made any fight a complete joke as long as you had Dash Juices. As a Dual Blades main, I've complained a lot about how dumb Adept style was back in Gen.
Im just confused as to how can I calculate this damage lol if my question doesnt make sense im sorry I tend to make things more complicated then they are
It's actually a 4 hit combo, because you're hitting twice with each blade
@@pancakeman54 oh ok aweeome! I would of never guessed that I really appreciate it
I’m really tempted to try valor mode, since I’m practically guzzling down mega dash juice on every hunt anyways...
Smiles Edgeworth
I hear ya!
is it better to stay in R mode or not in R mode it the real question usually i buildup my archdemon and then i go out of it to use the new moves

"recover 6 units of sharpness as well", 12 attacks worth of sharpness with razor sharp
but there isn't a 0.5 sharpness lost multiplier : 12 attacks without razor sharp and 24 with?
Gijan I’m coming from world we’re do I find monster weakness in game?
There is an npc that has monster info that lists it all. You can even be lazy and just look at it’s armror to see it’s weaknesses
gaijin hunter ty!
Couldn't stop playing Adept duals in Generations, will probably switch to Valor Duals for GU. It's amazingly fun!
I can’t wait to say emperor palpatine lines when I human corkscrew into a monster lmao
What area are you at in the guild style part
You can also do aerial spin off a climbable wall.
Brave DBs won't be that popular though. They are good but not as popular as something like brave hbg.
how do you get the crossairs?
thx for the tutorial! very fun weapon i hope i can become as good as you are, atm im having troubles with charge blade but im on it
What’s a good dual blade set?
Can the extra hits from Inner Beast crit?
Hey gaijin i was hunting the valstrax and found something interesting on his tower. There are some kind of energy veins. Could you check it out. Maybe you'll find more than I did.
I've played through the demo a couple of times now but I've never seen this special touch button you refer too. Am I blind?
It should be the minus button on switch. In the menus you can also swap the minus and plus button functions.
The Special button was in the 3ds touch screen, idk what it was for the Switch version tho.
It's the kick button
He's probably referring to the 3DS version. On the bottom screen, theres a prompt that allows you to do special attacks. I haven't actually watched this video, but i've played MHGen on the 3DS so i'm assuming that's what he's talking about.
Thats one issue with reusing the generations tutorial footage, that some of the things you could do on 3ds arent available in the same ways
Mmm lances and charged blade soon :D
Really excited to try valor DB.
What do you think about early game DB?
Insect Glaive for people with vertigo.
Is it called Spinning Top in Japanese?
Whats wrong abbout the 4u Dbs?
@gaijin hunter you dont have to hold Y and press x+a you can just press y wait like half a sec and press x+a together it works all the time
I didn't watch the entire thing because I gotta sleep but
All I know is that the recovery frames after each attack is so low that you don't need to worry about attacking at the wrong time
so in valor mode, the stamina is not depleting? thats big
I love the music
I told you to make the insect glaive one! What will I do without my trusty baguette?
P R Q You and me my fellow Monté!
P R Q it looks like gaijin is doing them in order, so probably the next ones will be: Hammer > Hunting Horn > Lance > Gunlance > Switch Axe > Charge Blade > Insect Glaive.
Gonna use Guild Duals again but now I can finally ditch Wolf's Maw.
Beyblade and drill arts for the win.
How to optain the New Art?
4:18 Gaijin please we dont have a touch pad on the switch
Use minus button
That is gen on the 3ds
The dual blade with critical skills are very appealing love the dual blade too much
Gaijin at 11:25 : *contemplating on whether he had to say the woo-hoo or not*
I thought striker was way to go... now I’m looking at aerial or valor
For some reason I was hoping u would refined the video from the Wii switch. it feels this is from the ND3s. But since I'm grateful for ur video my dude
>Wii switch
Musashi meant Nintendo switch.
All the mhgu tutorials are copies from his mhxx tutorials. He adds a new section called changes for the last few minutes.
He's pretty much splicing in his MHGen tutorials at the beginning with the first four styles with some edits and adding the new stuff at the end.
God guide 👍
How do i maintain valor mode after i get it? the normal valor attacks dont fill that much. i've been using the X one but ill go for X+A now. i was using aerial in gen but i think ill use valor db now, or adept bow.
Landing attacks refills them a tiny bit and the sheathing attacks still refill but not enough to keep it going forever, eventually it runs out and you have to start from scratch
still here...waiting for the boom! (hope to see Gunlance sooner than later :P)
Charge blade is my favorite weapon but damn is it confusing nothing like world lol
Valor Style is Like Genji in Overwatch, really hard to master but returns amazing results when you do master it.
*tries Aerial DB once*
"SIE SIND DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE JAGER!!!"
I see you're a man of culture
"*screams in japanese*"
Me in demon mode with aerial dual blades: “Hey Rathalos, have you ever heard of Captain Levi?”
Rathalos: “Captain wh-“
I used striker style and searched for archdemon mode and didn't see it so I searched for a guide. I'm freaking stupid.
Sorry if I'm being annoying cause probably many ppl have asked this question but would mhgu come out for the west on 3ds or is that not gonna become a reality?
Xx_shadowkat_ xX ain’t gonna happen.
DUDE! VALOR DB LOOKS FUN!
