@Awall Digital : Major detail you badly needed to mention is what level you had the mic gain set to during this review!
Given the white noise and-or how obvious the fan noise was when you turned off the filters, I suspect you had the mic gain knob set a bit high. Whiel as you mention, it's a sensitive mic too, so that adds to it.
I've watched many other detailed reviews of this mic, including at least a couple that carefully demonstrated the effect of the mic gain knob at all it's levels right from 0 up to maximum -
and only on yours was that background ambient or white noise so loud and noticeable.
I suspect that with your filters turned off, you could have killed some of that background noise by dropping the gain a bit but pulling the mic a bit closer, (or speaking closer to it after reducing gain).
Great review - but please tell us approximately what level you had the gain set at.
    Many thanks.

  • @blakepace

Definitely hear the difference between processed and non- processed. All the background white noise disappeared, and the 'crispier' (I do love that) clarity is pronounced.
Thanks for this in depth review.
One question: how would I use it with my beloved RodeCaster Pro? No XLR connection. Advice?

The most annoying thing about this mic is that it doesn't just simply work with Samson's own boom arms. You HAVE to buy the spider shock mount just so that you can have the right adapters to go with the boom arm. I mean... you're looking at a pretty steep cost all in.

    1. I don't mind the headphone port at the end, my headphones cable is long enough
    2. Well it should be heavier because it has more functions, i mean, what do you expect? Just place it down somewhere.
    3. You can deal with such background noise before you record, make sure the noisy desktop is not too close. But I am glad I will be using a laptop.
I thought there were real cons, I am going to buy it.

    Question:
I have this Samson G-Track Pro, but I have to open up the mic volume all the way to get a reasonable sound level (but also a lot of noise). Is that normal for this mic? Or is mine broken.
I also have a Jabra 510 and that sound level is much higher and even further away (??)

If it's on cardioid then be careful of where you are because it is directional at that point. My mic volume is at about 70% and it picks me up really well and its about 3 feet away from me on cardioid on my desk.
