    I have owned this microphone for almost a year now. I decided to take a look at reviews on it again only to reinforce the choice I made. Thank you for putting together an extremely good quality review of a piece of hardware that I hold in such high regards. I am a video gamer and content creator and the ease of use of this microphone made my transition into this complicated web of electronics so easy. I recommend this microphone to ANY content creator who needs a plug and play device with additional options of recording.

    I just got a Samson G-Track and it's great. Perfect for the musician on a budget. I use it to record stuff on Garageband on Mac and it's shockingly easy. Really good bang for your buck here. Mic quality is very good for the price. Vocals and Acoustic Guitar with vocals sound really good. But I'd suggest recording all tracks separately so you can mix/add effects to each track and tweak each track to your likings. The Audio Interface is a Bonus for those who don't already have something like Garageband or Pro Tools. Best $130 bucks you'll ever spend.

    Quite outstanding -- more than a mere review... a tutorial with depth and one of the most enjoyable UA-cam videos I have ever watched! You are quite the teacher. Especially enjoyed the beautiful guitar demonstrations. I'm in the late-stage planning for my own channel and I'm a novice on the equipment required. You've given me a tremendous understanding on this microphone, which I had identified from other videos. Thank you so much. I just hit the "Subscribe" button. Look forward to watching more of your work.

    I've been looking up videos, reviews and watching comparison videos vs other mics and this is one, has been hands down the most comprehensive review of this microphone's features I've come across.
    I was curious about the music potential but other people reviewing never mentioned it or brushed it off and it was the feature that drew me to this product in the first place. Also the way you demonstrated the pick up patterns will be a great help.
    Thanks and I hope your holidays were well!

    Thank you for a great review. This mic is PHENOMENAL. I would never imagine buying anything else even on a professional level maybe except for studio quality singing. I found this to be very easy to angle away from your mouth, no pop filter needed. It's such high quality at 1 ft distance this will work great with a gain of 40%. Just give it a 90 degree angle and make sure you don't yell :)

      @@AndrewKeeping Sir, I was hoping I could use this to strengthen my church during out "Lock-Down" here in Canada. I wanted to use it for Zoom etc. with my Acoustic Guitar, and Vocals of course. I find my Guitar, is picked up by the mic even though plugged in via 1/4" jack. Also, the MOTU software looks more like a recording software, than a "live broadcast" software. I wanted to do something "Live". Looks like I may just return the Mic and get a small USB Mixer that I can connect a Studio Mic and my guitar with effects separately .... your thoughts when/if you have time.

    12:30 Headphone monitoring makes it sound like you don't have headphones on because you hear your voice as if there was nothing covering your ears. Without zero-latency the delayed sound of your voice would sound like an echo in your ears and be very distracting.

I searched for help because my plug and play was playing games with me. IT WAS NOT WORKING. I hoped you could help me understand the software on my PC to make the microphone work. Well as you begin to talk, GAME OVER. It just start working on it's on. I guess it really is plug and play. I have this mic. It's very good. I also have the clip-on stainless steel pop filter, which I don't like. It gives an odd effect to spoken word, and it's over-priced. I use my basic pop filter instead. The other problem is if you use a different stand, it falls over because it is top-heavy. I am thinking of switching to the Mackie EM-USB for voiceover, at roughly the same price. I would then use the Samson for my podcast.

    Thanks for this review!! I have a question. Do you know if the mic would be a good option for doing zoom meetings in a place with potential background noise? I'm a music therapist and do telehealth sessions in environments with barking dogs, music playing in other rooms etc. It's alright if a small bit of noise comes through but not much. Is this a good mic for that situation?

    • @AndrewKeeping
      @AndrewKeeping  2 роки тому +1

      Yes i would definitely recommend this for Zoom meetings. You can attach the headphones into the back and this will eliminate an echo, for the listener the other end. You would want to set the directional microphone to cardio, and this will eliminate surrounding noise from the rear and less from the sides too. The proximity effect is very good so you can get quite close too without it getting too boomy. You might want to add a wind shield over the grill for added protection. I run support groups and lessons, and music therapy sessions on it and it works well for each of these. Good luck!

      @AndrewKeeping  3 роки тому

      I am not quite sure what you are asking. They are both recorders, but the G Track pro is also an audio interface. The quality of the recording from the G track is more likely to be better quality as it is a large condenser microphone. However, the Zoom is a stereo mic that is very versatile and far more transportable. If this is not what you were asking. My sincere apologies and do try again. Best wishes

      Ok so, I have tested this out on various videos going against my M Audio interface, RME interface and I have tried it with a Scarlet. I have run it direct into Cubase Pro10, Ableton, Logic and pro tools. I have found that it matches up very favourably. obviously some of my high end microphones and very high end preamps are better, however, you really have to have your ears tuned in to really notice these differences. All i can say is that I use it a lot, and I have plenty of great gear. Good luck!

    Andrew, Hi! When it notes that the G Track USB Mic with built in interface can be used with any "Line Level Devices," what might this include? In addition to playing guitar while I sing, I am trying to figure out if I will be able to sing into the usb mic to record my voice while playing a downloaded CD music track on either the windows 7 I have the G Track Program Application opened in and a preloaded MP3 track from collaborating musicians
    or a Karaoke Management System with a track uploaded to sing to, or would I need another windows 7 laptop opened at the same time playing the track while I record my vocals on the PC (windows 7) where I have my G Track Program App opened? Would either of these methods give me a quality recording that the plugged in guitar to the USB Mic will? Will the Omni Mode be sufficient enough to pick up the track playing on another PC while I sing in the mic?? Would that take care of that??? Here's an idea of the purpose of the mic for me. I have been working in a studio with a producer but wish to go on my own now and possibly even record live from my room. I don't have an interface so yes, that's a great thing, but I don't have the pro tool or fancy gear either. And, my production knowledge, other than arranging, setting up collaborations with musician friends on social media sites, co-producing, is pretty limited. I use youtube and movie maker to make my videos and I set up collaborations with friends on reverbnation, fandalism, soundcloud, facebook, twitter and youtube. PS I Have a beautiful Ibanez (red dread knot) and a small 15 watt amp that I could plug my guitar into, to make it all come together, if need be. I played around with Audacity a little bit so I'm a bit familiar with recording software in general and I sit in during recordings to make adjustments etc. This is me :) ua-cam.com/video/N7C5CHXq_ww/v-deo.html Please Help if you can! I would be most grateful! Thank you so much! Debi Lynn Phillips, Independent Artist / Singer Songwriter

      What you suggest is possible. However, it is restrictive when it comes to editing your vocals. My suggestion would be to use a simple DAW. Load up the Backing track to that. Then use headphones to listen to the track while recording your vocals. Then lay another track with the guitar. This will allow you to edit each part sepearately and add any fx. The problem when doing it using either the fig8 or omni, is that any fx you add to the voice like reverb or delay will also be added to the backing track. This would not be satisfactory. You can use free DAW like Reaper. I suggest looking around for a good DAW. It will definitely help you get the most from the mic.

      @@AndrewKeeping Andrew you rock big time! Thank you so much! I appreciate your detailed response wholeheartedly! Cant' wait to have a live show out of my bedroom, start producing my own videos myself without having to lean on my current producer, and going live in the venues again. Definitely need a set up that's flexible for all. Do you think the Cubase daws that comes with the Mackie Protech 8 or 10 can be easily learned or would you stick with the Daw from Motu that comes with the GPro Track or audacity or reaper or garageband, instead? Do you think a Mackie Mixer is better than the Yamaha Mixer. Just learning so want to be sure it's not too complicated.

      I believe so. However, it does also depend on the quality of room sound to a degree.

    Hey! What can I do If I want to use a multiefect pedal? Should I connect the pedal to the mic?

    • @AndrewKeeping
      @AndrewKeeping  3 роки тому

      Not sure how you would do this with the connectivity. You might be able to use the 1/4" cable out of the effects pedal in to the guitar input on the back.

      You can put a pop filter in from and create a small sound proofed booth with a cardboard box and some insulation. Many voiceover friends have continued working from home during lockdown coming up with ideas like this.

      It is USB input so any device that has a USB input and supports the drivers. The power is operated also through the USB. Best of luck.

    Is there a foam cover for this microphone?

    • @AndrewKeeping
      @AndrewKeeping  4 роки тому

      No there is not. It has a fine filter, bit I do tend to use a pop filter rather than a wind shield. I would not use this outside.
