    Just one small thing. The Blue Yeti price you cited was for a "renewed," or pre-owned, microphone. Prices for a new Blue Yeti seem to be about $130.

    Perfect review. I think you just helped me make up my mind. I haven't seen any other reviewer actually demonstrate the instrument-in port. That sounded natural and the 2-track option is pretty amazing considering the price.

    Samson is the one I'd go with . Like the feature to plug in a guitar and recording two tracks. Plus the mic sounds very nice for the price point. Let's face it, musicians are out of work ( who knows for how long) so it's nice companies afford us good equipment.

    The Samson sounded a bit warmer and fuller than the Blue Yeti. Plus, it has the line-in function. I assume using a mixer into the line-in would allow more inputs (voice or instruments), but they would all be on the same track. There is a version of the Yeti with both USB and XLR outputs (Blue Yeti Pro), so that would be one potential advantage of that particular Yeti model. I have a Yeti and have been pleased with it but have turned to higher end mics over the past few years (Rode NT1 with USB interface; AT4033; Shure SM7B with interface). Based on this video and for voice work, I vote for the Samson. The XLR-to-USB interfaces open up the whole world of XLR mics to use with computers.

    Nice comparison. Just picked up the Samson G-Track after many reviews and it sounds incredible so far. The Yeti is actually now more expensive. I paid $102 and the Yeti is now around $130 so for me as a person who does live client presentations via Zooms and Microsoft Teams and also plays the guitar, this was a no brainer over the Yeti.

  • @sylvertonguephoenix

    Nice improv dude! Also, I think as a whole, with noise cancelling software and noise reduction such as foam padding on the walls and such, I feel that overall the Samson does beat the Blue Yeti by a rather large margin just for it's price comparison and overall greater utility over the Yeti. However, with the right audio software, and if the Samson didn't have the plugin for an instrument or the multi-track option, both mics would be equal in quality overall... Though without that feature the Samson would probably only cost about $110 maybe a little less, which would then still beat the Yeti in price.

      @@rollandsaxton Just curious, are you trying to change your voice while recording the video, like as if it were a live radio show? I've never used the rode caster pro, but from looking at it I'm guessing it's more of a tool to do effects and things on the fly during the recording or streaming process and I think the rode caster pro is probably more of a live mixer. I believe most youtubers do effects and things to their voice in the editing process, so if that's what you are trying to then no you don't need an interface. Where do you plug your headphones into when using the Samson G Track Pro, the headphone jack at the back of the microphone usually yanks on the headphone cord. Is there another way to plug in the headphones somewhere else not directly into the mic to still monitor the microphone sound.

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  3 роки тому

      Personally, even if a microphone has a headphone jack on it, I still just either plug my headphones directly into my computer, or into my interface to monitor the audio. So if you want, you can just plug your headphones into the headphone jack on your computer and then turn on "software monitoring" in whatever program you are using to record

    Not reviewed - In this video - is the higher recording resolution (24 Bit by 96 Khz) capability of the Samson G Track Pro, not available in the Blue Yeti. (It is available in the higher-priced brother, The Blue Yeti Pro, however) Does using the G Track Pro - in this way - offer a substantially better-sounding audio file, compared to the Blue Yeti?

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah apparently the Yeti's bite rate is 16-bit and has a sample rate of 48 kHz. In my opinion, I did like how the Samson sounded a little more, however, I don't think the audio was significantly better sounding.

  • @bobc3997

    Just as feedback. I'm a professional musician, playing upright bass classical and jazz, guitar, so my hearing is developed.
    While, I would have liked to hear an upright, but there's no question that the Yeti is cleaner.
    It simply has less distortion.
    The Samson sounds good because of the heavy emphasis on the lows.
    It sacrifices clarity.
    I wanted the Samson to sound better, thought singing with electric bass and voice would sound.
    But I would opt for accuracy.
    Now, the other problem for the Samson. While you can play a bass through,
    it does not even record down to the low E string on bass, which is 40 Hz,
    and that's not even a 5 string bass.
    Samson start at 50 Hz, Blue Yet, 20

    Spay some isopropyl alcohol on those noisy control dials for the win :) ... they just get dusty and that is literally all that static noise is. So if you can... take the dials off... leave the equipment turned ON and as you are spraying it onto the pots (Control dials); keep turning the dial fully to the left then fully to the right, this will totally get rid of that problem.

    • @TobiasHolenstein
      @TobiasHolenstein  4 роки тому

      I've never tried the original G Track, but just from what I've seen online there are some things that I prefer about the G-track pro. One is that the old g track just had a 3.5mm instrument input and the g track pro has the 1/4" input and I'm not sure if you can record 2 separate tracks with the old g track. Aside from those things, if you go on the Samson website you can compare the specs between the 2. There are some slight differences, like diaphragm size, frequency range etc. From what I've heard online the old g track sounds good, but I think I prefer the newer G Track Pro

    This mic is absolutely not a dead-end investment as you correctly stated in your review. If you do outgrow the mic, it is not too hard to use it as a dedicated audio interface, though you won't get the benefit of multiple track recording for individual instruments, you can easily leverage a mixer and any xlr mics and instruments you want. Run your mics/instruments into the board and then run the mixer output into the instrument input on the Samson and you've got your the mix going to the computer. Not the best for production, as you can't tweak individual instruments in post, but in a pinch it will get the job done - just make sure you get your mix right before recording.

      Hi Jack, yes both mics work with IOS and they are USB mics, so they get their power from the USB port

    After I watched your video, I bought a Samson G T Pro, but there’s a problem for me is... my computer are using windows 10, when I recording my voice by the Samson microphone, the sound is very low... and can not be adjust..
    I go to the windows setting, my microphone volume is 100%... and my microphone MIC button and 90-100%
