  • NBA players who are washed up and past their prime keep making the same mistake, until now...
Kemba Walker made the bold decision to go play overseas at AS Monaco, a lot of washed up NBA stars should go to EuroLeague as well, for all the reasons discussed in this video. Kemba Walker might've changed basketball, for guys like John Wall, Isaiah Thomas, Lance Stephenson and many more.

In the 80s and 90s that was a common practice. McAdoo, Wilkins, Woolridge... Even an old George Gervin came to Spain and saved TDK Manresa from relegation with outstanding performances. Dwight was still a starter caliber player in 2020, splitting the center minutes with McGee. His defense against Jokic in the WCF is considered a huge factor in the Lakers' advance to the Finals and eventual championship. It most certainly counted towards his legacy.
A better comparison would be Jeremy Lin with the Raptors. He just didn't get to properly contribute during that run, even if he was still good enough to be a contributor at the time.

@@TheFrostyMan21 definitely not. The negative vibes of Dwight leaving in free agency left a lasting impression. The redemption story of his return is amplified by his controversial first stint. Had he never played for the Lakers that first time, maybe the impact would be less. But even then, his story has some similarity to that of Bob McAdoo. McAdoo was an NBA super star. Then he faded. Then he redeemed himself as an impact championship bench player. That late career impact counts strongly towards McAdoo's ultimate legacy.

    1) A super banged up and way after his prime john wall won't be anywhere near a superstar in the euroleague.
    2) Kemba walker imo will be a bust here. He is way past his athletic prime, the backcourt consisting of him and mike james will be great and fast paced offensively but the worst defensive guard duo of all time. Being utter garbage on defense doesn't work in europe. You get exploited on every possession and you get benched
3)isaiah thomas would definitely have failed here as well. You just cannot win games with 0 defense. His offence would have been severely limited as well. During his amazing celtics run, every play was him carrying the ball on every dribble until he got an open shot. This gets called here 99/100 times

I've never really heard anybody put it in context like this. You are absolutely correct. If you are one of these guys too good for the G League but not good enough for the NBA then you should consider playing overseas. I just heard some weird stuff about ppl not getting paid but if that's not true then overseas looks like a good option for a lot of players.

If these guys still have gas left in the tank, God bless them for continuing their career where they are wanted. I have a feeling that there are lots of politics that make or break careers. If you can still play at that level, go elsewhere.

Lastly…this is one of the best informative basketball 🏀 videos I have watched in a long time! All hoopers that aspire to be professional need to watch this and learn….like the narrator said… it’s the “Basketball Hall of Fame” not the NBA HOF….there are 3 levels of hoops….amateur….college and pro!! If you do well and have impact on all 3 levels…then you definitely should get the nod to be selected wether 1st or 2nd ballot!! 👍 💯

most of them are honestly not good enough to play in the Euroleague at this stage of their career, Kemba likely won’t contribute. You’re actually underestimating the level of competition in the Euroleague by assuming the players the NBA doesn’t want could actually make a difference in the Euroleague.

From a strictly basketball perspective, it is very embarrassing for a player to have to go to Euroleague as an American. Not because we don’t respect foreign leagues, but because every American grows up wanting to play in the nba. So when they can no longer play in the league they grew up dreaming about, it is disappointing. There are obviously benefits for some guys to going overseas versus staying in the US and not getting any playing time.

Amercans are generally ignorant about overseas pastures and have a superiority complex which can lead NBA players to believe that being the 14th man on the Hornets/Rockets/Magic is more respectable or better than earning a similar or higher salary in Barcelona, Madrid, Athens or Monaco 😂 personally , I'd choose the latter. It'd would also be good for their brands, imagine Melo on a team like Barca.

    great video again mate.
I think most of the NBA players that dont decide to play in Euroleague when clearly their NBA top careeer is over
are low motivation athletes. They usually know what they will face in Euroleague where many former NBA all stars or even super stars failed , euroleague is not a joke.So they just go for a bunch of more dollars to play FOR REAL for the SHARKS in China,where...with all respect to the chinese league...noone in the rest of the world knows what happens there, noone cares.
As for the best Euroleague teams vs Worst NBA teams...well,its mostly about the rules and the court. With international rules at a european court the euroleague top teams will probably win not only the worst but even some playoff NBA teams sometimes. From the other hand if a top euroleague team face a mediocre or average NBA team in an NBA court with NBA rules i would bet to the NBA team every time,no question about it
