- NBA players who are washed up and past their prime keep making the same mistake, until now...
Kemba Walker made the bold decision to go play overseas at AS Monaco, a lot of washed up NBA stars should go to EuroLeague as well, for all the reasons discussed in this video. Kemba Walker might've changed basketball, for guys like John Wall, Isaiah Thomas, Lance Stephenson and many more.

I would rather live in Monaco than a Cleveland or even Miami, and get paid more. Can’t even believe we’re still having these Euroleague conversations tbh 🤦🏽♂️
Facts. This was my first reaction when this Kemba news broke out. He's lucky to be playing in that beautiful city. Plus he doesnt have to do much coz they have Mike James! I'd take that deal over a minimum contract with a trash city like Cleveland, Detroit or even Charlotte 😂
@@illogicalballhog1182 don’t forget bout Jordan loyd he can hoop too
Fr😂🔥
B*tch you never been to Monaco you just talkin
Miami clears
respect to this dude for making a compelling argument for the possibility of Kemba walker to become a hall of famer
Yeah I can see him one day making it
Playing Basketball overseas in a beautiful country while getting PAID. Sounds like a dream to me 🤷🏻♂️
In the 80s and 90s that was a common practice. McAdoo, Wilkins, Woolridge... Even an old George Gervin came to Spain and saved TDK Manresa from relegation with outstanding performances. Jabari parker just signed with FC Barcelona and i think it´s the best thing he could do to revitalise his career...
Damn Jabari had upside man injuries really hurt him
Man I didn’t kno that ! Good for bari! I’m worried a little bit tho because he doesn’t have oversess experience. The game is way different than the NBA.
*Yeah we need a video on the best Euro league teams vs. the worst NBA teams. OTE barely lost to the Australian team that beat the Suns last szn during pre-szn*
OTE skill level sky rocketed after this years draft
@@NextKingzfr*false they had a lot of kids who's contract is now over*
A team like last year Pistons would be crushed by Real or Olympiakos
Lol pre season no teams are playing to win, it’s to get into basketball mindset. Plus none of the starters barely play in the preseason.
Still a terrible analogy the best player on the worst NBA roster in the league is a Euro League MVP that’s the point
Dwight was still a starter caliber player in 2020, splitting the center minutes with McGee. His defense against Jokic in the WCF is considered a huge factor in the Lakers' advance to the Finals and eventual championship. It most certainly counted towards his legacy.
A better comparison would be Jeremy Lin with the Raptors. He just didn't get to properly contribute during that run, even if he was still good enough to be a contributor at the time.
It goes toward his legacy but trust me 20 years from now people will forget Dwight played for the lakers
Man people got to stop with this narrative😂
Dwight split minutes with Javale and AD guarding Jokic, they also took turns free roaming the paint. Fans be acting like Dwight guarded the man the whole game, when it was literally 3 bigs lol
@@baradureye2170 Anyone who watched the games saw the positive impact Dwight had, one that AD and JaVale definitely didn't have. The narrative exists for a reason, because it's true. The backlash against that truth comes from Dwight-haters. No need for the hate. Just enjoy the game.
@@TheFrostyMan21 definitely not. The negative vibes of Dwight leaving in free agency left a lasting impression. The redemption story of his return is amplified by his controversial first stint. Had he never played for the Lakers that first time, maybe the impact would be less. But even then, his story has some similarity to that of Bob McAdoo. McAdoo was an NBA super star. Then he faded. Then he redeemed himself as an impact championship bench player. That late career impact counts strongly towards McAdoo's ultimate legacy.
@@timl9724 Id say its the opposite, the narrative came from jokic haters who swore that dwight stopped jokic alone, hilarious.
Your obviously a casual if you honestly think that the gameplan wasnt to throw AD, Javale and Dwight at Jokic the entire series. Hell this is actually more proof that Vogel didnt deserve to lose his job
I agree Thomas should have went overseas to play I just don’t understand why he didn’t have a good career in the NBA that run with the Celtics was crazy
The hip injury ruined him As a guard that small a hip injury like his is career ending pretty much
People must have forgotten the career Stephon Marbury had AWAY from the NBA...let alone in it.
It doesn't matter because it was in China. The CBA is a semi pro league and irrelevant to the rest of the world. In other words, trash.
You would never think that there is a statue of an African American erected in China, but there is one of Shephon
they didnt forget, they never knew cause its not important!
@@alexnguyen1284 Stephon played in the Olympics with Lebron, Wade and the crew. Not important? You ain't a real baller bro. Step off.😒👉
Yeah he had a great career overseas
There were a couple years where Kemba was at least a top five point guard in the NBA, nobody can take that away from him. Now he gets to be a legend on the other side of the world also, love it, happy for him.
Nah he wasn't. Kemba is an inefficient ballhogger, who never tried to win with the Hornets. Well the hornets are at fault too for being a bad org while Kemba was with the team, but still.....
Kemba Walker and Mike James is going to make a killer Backcourt Combo
Yuuuuup! Hell yeah
Mike james might leave
I ment "Could have been" a great Back Court Duo
These players are at the tail-end of their careers. They need to start thinking about what they are going to do after the NBA. Why not go overseas to build your brand and make a name for yourself abroad. It’s good exposure and networking.
Thank you man. I'm fully excited about watching EuroLeague this year. I'm getting into it for the first season. UA-camrs like you with a foot in the NBA and beyond is a big reason for me branching out. I can't wait man.
Bro you're in for a treat. regular season games in Euroleagues are crazy, it always feel like they are a playoff game. so much better than any NBA regular season game.
get ready for some low scoring games with tough defence and exciting atmospheres. a great breath of fresh air comparing it to the 6 months and more of nba regular season
Euroleague is literally the second best basketball league in the world, Kemba can still play. Dwight wants a paycheck, hell his team didn’t even make his leagues playoffs 😂
Dude gets to play in a great location, solid team, and is making some decent cash... not NBA starter money, but solid contract! I am HAPPY for him! :)
Sounds like a win to me
NBA fans don't realize how hard it is to make it even to d1 college not to speak of overseas
When do we as a society learn that money is not the main reason to make a decision?
Agreed, not to mention some guys even have issues getting paid overseas
Basketball wise playing overseas isn’t bad but you have to remember players don’t have their families overseas with them. It gets lonely and it doesn’t put players in a good place mentally. Some of them would rather stay with their families in the U.S. and you can’t blame them for that
Whaaat...fly them on a primate jet for 2 weeks😅
I get that but I also watch football where it's common practice to switch country every couple years, taking your family with you and often learning a new language. It sounds like a big step out of your comfort zone but since I see football players do it all the time it's not that big of a hurdle in my mind
I mean they should be able to afford bringing their family over.
Football(soccer) players do it all the time when they are transferred outside of the country. They’ll bring their families with them.
@@gabrielboily2641might not be that simple. There’s been guys who talk about their overseas experiences especially with getting paid and it isn’t always so straight forward
Great video and i wholeheartedly agree. Its a no-brainer, being on a court playing the sport i love while surrounded by adoring fans or keeping a bench warm....... 🤔🤔🤔 this is a tough one, splinters Vs blisters..,
Kemba is going to have a great time. He's going to be a rock star and he deserves it all.
These guys don't want to embarrass themselves by failing in Europe. A few notable NBA players and legends flamed out overseas, which just looks terrible.
European ball is good ball idk why ppl neglect it
@@ssk-_-dotz3773 it's not just good. It's good, yet different. It's different enough that it scares off some NBA guys. It also is confusing for many NBA fans to see NBA role players excel, while some NBA "stars" play poorly. It doesn't fit well with the narratives. Narrative is the biggest part of what makes sports so appealing, so a disruption to these narratives makes neglect a strong option.
Ya but even if that happens you at least get to live in a beautiful city and get paid more than you would in the NBA. Nothing to be ashamed of. John Walls ego might be too big. He was a star in the mid 2010s and that's it.
@danieljoseph316 still the 2nd best level of basketball in the world after the NBA. Nobody is saying the Euroleague is better than the NBA but it's better level than Puerto Rico, China or the G-League and they can earn more money in europe than in the NBA too
If Isaiah thomas came to Euroleague or any other league, they would have appreciated him. Just look at how everyone worshiped dwight Howard in Taiwan and started the whole trend for the city. This is how influential NBA players mean to cities. Just go somewhere people appreciate him.
I mess with this video heavy, great content Brodie
People in America keep underestimate euroleague level. Even Typer Hero said in an interview that g league is the second best league in the world when in reality it's like the fifth. European basketball it's just different that's why so many nba guys have failed the expectations coming to Europe (mostly role players but you get my point).
Living in Monaco, getting paid tax free and making more money than I would in the NBA would definitely be a win for me at 33 years old. I wouldn't care who laughed at me.
Why the Lance pic ? Mans been overseas all year
One of the reasons that they are reluctant to go and play in Europe is that they know that they cannot make it there. It's easier to stay on the bench of an NBA team and play limited minutes. For example Chalmers and Fraser went to AEK , not even a Euroleague ream and they did nothing in particular really
You seriously think NBA player can’t make it in EURO Leagues?
@@ChristopherkDelva it's because there are people taht think like you that this video even exists, you do realize that right?
@@julesm5892the euroleague is mid compared to the league so wtf are you talking about stop beggin it
@@ChristopherkDelva I don't think it, I watched it happen. Have a look of how Bacon got kicked out of Panathinaikos last year and then suddenly the team started playing better. Or how badly Williams a former no2 draft pick played with Panathinaikos. Last year was the worst Panathinaikos we ve seen propably in decades, really. Brandon Rush played well at Larissa a few seasons ago. But Larissa was a team that was competing for salvation before him in the national League, not a Euroleague team.
@@jasonwilliams9307 from what we've watched last year only the teams that make it to the conference finals could beat easily last year Euroleague's final four teams.
Great video DKM 🤝 Would love to see Kemba thrive overseas in Monaco
This is a great video. Real talk, I wish they showed Euroleague games in the US.
I'm not sure Kemba will do good in Monaco bro. They already have a lot of great guards and each time Kemba played with team usa in fiba rules he did really really bad, I don't think his game will perfectly translate in euroleague tbh. IT in europe would be more interesting tho
"And if they did want him he would be on a team and not Twitter." 💣
I'm a Canadian NBA fan but I've always been curious about the euroleague. I may have to try getting in to it sometime
It is worth taking a look at going euro before your washed. Look at guys like Carmelo or Chris Paul. What could either one of them have done in euro league 5-6 years ago.
Carmelo yes but chris paul is still good at the nba
Cp3 been a top 5 pg 11:10 😢every single year of his career. Ring or not but he might have got a couple rings over there
It hurts seeing my favorite players like Gilbert Arenas, Wall, Walker, I.Thomas, D. Rose not get the love they deserve because of injuries. These guys were monsters.
Great vid I was guilty of thinking like this. Not anymore…
Monaco > Memphis.
Not even a question. No US nba city compares
it will be worse if they go there and end up on the bench
Why you say that
I'm halfway through the vid. I'm pretty sure the creator isn't european otherwise i don't get it.
1) A super banged up and way after his prime john wall won't be anywhere near a superstar in the euroleague.
2) Kemba walker imo will be a bust here. He is way past his athletic prime, the backcourt consisting of him and mike james will be great and fast paced offensively but the worst defensive guard duo of all time. Being utter garbage on defense doesn't work in europe. You get exploited on every possession and you get benched
3)isaiah thomas would definitely have failed here as well. You just cannot win games with 0 defense. His offence would have been severely limited as well. During his amazing celtics run, every play was him carrying the ball on every dribble until he got an open shot. This gets called here 99/100 times
Skills that are crucial in the Euroleague are size, elite shooting, defense, basketball IQ, leadership. You can't check none/one of those and come here and magically be a superstar.
I agree
@@DanHook-ke7gk mainly because they don't consist of old john wall, isaiah thomas and kemba. Also they literally have to bring the cream of the crop to win it. Everytime they didn't, they got humbled. By the way the USA U19 just came in 4th place in the world championship.
@@DanHook-ke7gk everyone agrees the US team is the heavy favourite when it brings its A+ stars in national competitions. The whole debate was about very washed up nba players coming to the euroleague and dominating/being mvps. The video creator suggested that, which i find absolutely insane. imo Kemba's signing is a publicity stunt and his 0 defense will make him unplayable in serious games
@@BillyGat0s Kemba has 0 defense in NBA because opponent point guards are extremely good. In euroleague Kemba will face lesser competition and his defense will not be 0. Slightly above 0 might be good enough, given he efficiently scores on offense.
I would do unspeakable things to get paid to hoop in Europe.
I don’t see how you can claim the Euro League teams could beat nba teams but then say John Wall could be the Euro mvp. Bruh if John Wall or Kemba are your best player you aren’t beating any nba team
Boris Diaw was one of the best players on the court in 2014 when the Spurs destroyed the Heat. In the right team with the right coach John Wall could be a EL MVP even if he did not post ridiculous numbers. European basketball is DIFFERENT.
@@johndistick9702 Boris was the 7th best player in the floor and that’s being generous lol. If John Wall is your MVP you wouldn’t beat a single nba team, but you would smash euro league with John wall or almost any 2nd string MBA talent. That’s the point lol
Honestly the nba has been lame af for about 5 years now, its way overrated
Jeez i remember when the vet minimum was 350k. Pro athletes get paid way too much for just being sports
Someone doesn't understand economics but okay 👍.
@@numnut1111 who cares, it's an opinion
@numnut1111 nothing about sports warrants people to become billionaires
Someone’s gotta make the money and it might as well be the guys putting on the show. Would you rather the greedy owners get all the money? Sure you have the right to your opinion but it’s an ignorant one to say the least.
@@darthbauer5153 I think entertainment in general is overpriced and shouldn't be as lucrative as a market that it is
We also have to stop saying that players are still NBA material when they’re washed up - Melo, Dwight, Wall, etc. WASHED UP!
This is the Beautiful thing about basketball and soccer is that you can make a living off of it anywhere around the world. Like with football for example you are good as screwed if you can’t make it to the league
This is my first time watching your content.. solid video! I lived in Europe (Switzerland & Netherlands) for a few years and definitely agree with you!
Only thing I don’t agree with was taking a shot at D12. He was a great contributor to the Lakers title!
Other than that.. spot on. Keep up the awesome work!
im not saying he wasnt a contributor, but that championship didn't do much for his legacy. Dwight is still disrespected when it comes to top centers of all time and the ring didn't propel him any higher on peoples top 10 lists etc
I've never really heard anybody put it in context like this. You are absolutely correct. If you are one of these guys too good for the G League but not good enough for the NBA then you should consider playing overseas. I just heard some weird stuff about ppl not getting paid but if that's not true then overseas looks like a good option for a lot of players.
If these guys still have gas left in the tank, God bless them for continuing their career where they are wanted. I have a feeling that there are lots of politics that make or break careers. If you can still play at that level, go elsewhere.
Ty for this
Lastly…this is one of the best informative basketball 🏀 videos I have watched in a long time! All hoopers that aspire to be professional need to watch this and learn….like the narrator said… it’s the “Basketball Hall of Fame” not the NBA HOF….there are 3 levels of hoops….amateur….college and pro!! If you do well and have impact on all 3 levels…then you definitely should get the nod to be selected wether 1st or 2nd ballot!! 👍 💯
Another great video 💯💯💯
Appreciate it
Had no idea kimba went to Europe but it’s all injury related
Yeah I didn’t know
Lance wasn’t even that good in Puerto Rico, he only played 4 games before getting waived by the Leones de Ponce
Great video
2 words, Shane Larkin, the worst nba teams are beating the best euro league teams, Shane Larkin is a stud / champ/ scoring champ etc in the euro league, lmao Shane Larkin can’t play in the nba, case closed
Calling pro players washed as a non hooper is crazy
The sad truth about it is they don't think about what if my career ends and what I'm going to do after the NBA so that's why he's playing over there because he don't know what he going to do you always have a back-up plan
If older players still wanna chase that bag then the Euroleague is definitely the place to be. I see no shame in it.
when i heard your accent i thought i clicked on wrong video, Brit talking about basketball is always odd
You have a good point. NBA is not everything after all. If you're not good enough anymore, you should learn how to settle
I forgot all about Lance
Me too
NBA fans haven't watched overseas basketball & it shows.
Yeah who are the best teams over there
@@baconeggcheesepodcast9390Do the names of Olympiakos , Real Madrid and Barcelona ring a bell ?
Remember that the average borderline NBA star to superstars have huge egos, only getting a reality check once they start getting injured or they past their prime.
Man Monaco is gorgeous and its so many billionaires its like a networkers wet dream...
If Walker remains a U.S. citizen, he'll have to pay taxes.
It would be awesome to see more players join other leagues. Like when JR Smith went to China for the lockout. I’m sure he improved a ton from that experience
Awesome video... hope some more nba guys swallow their prides and so this. Im surprised guys in the NBA dont do this more. It would elevate international basketball... the NBA wouldnt love that though because that would pull money out of and push some of it overseas
most of them are honestly not good enough to play in the Euroleague at this stage of their career, Kemba likely won’t contribute. You’re actually underestimating the level of competition in the Euroleague by assuming the players the NBA doesn’t want could actually make a difference in the Euroleague.
T Mac averaged 25 😂 his last year playing ball!!! It was in China tho!!! 🤷🏾♂️
7:30 was hilarious
Its crazy how people think these players are washed because they're not in the NBA...if not for the level of competition...at least do it for the comfort...if you follow Dwight Howard on social media...he's treated like royalty in Taiwan...and bruh that's pretty cool...playing outside the NBA is not the end of the world...ever seen a euroloeague match...its pretty hype
Some teams just don't fit good players well but some will fit everything has to align
I THINK JUST MY OPINION - Some of the NBA players who can't find their place in NBA anymore just sometimes scared that they will be "sht" in Euroleague and then they will get even more pressure and etc. There is many Ex NBA players who didin't shine in Euroleague
I thinks it’s more than just playing basketball. These players still have families and other obligations that they would have to put on hold, and that would be a lot for someone to sacrifice. But I understand your point completely because on “paper”, everything you’ve said made sense.
Boogie, Whiteside, league MVP Brandon Knight, the finals mvp Mike Scott and others that have come to Puerto Rico’s BSN have prospered and made the bag in a 4-5 month spring/summer league, and in the case of Scott, got him a contract on the team that beat Wemby on the france league finals.
I'm worried about his knees though.
That no tax situation is a major draw.
Gotta do the Josh Childress thing he made it worth it financially
Thoroughly enjoyed the video you have made many great points
Great vid. Kemba please talk some sense into Isaiah!! The loyalty would be great. And everyone laughs at China league but Stephon Marbury has his own museum there!! It must be nice. ❤
Bro takes be valid
We need to see that video proving the best Euroleague teams are better than the worst NBA teams asap
From a strictly basketball perspective, it is very embarrassing for a player to have to go to Euroleague as an American. Not because we don’t respect foreign leagues, but because every American grows up wanting to play in the nba. So when they can no longer play in the league they grew up dreaming about, it is disappointing. There are obviously benefits for some guys to going overseas versus staying in the US and not getting any playing time.
I agree but I think a player like melo was only doing it for his nba legacy you know leveling up on the scoring list!!! 🤷🏾♂️ I know it was mostly his ego but I really believe that was in the mix too!!!
If over 9 million a year is failing, I have not failed enough😂. I want to trip and fall into Monaco. I pay 36% in taxes before sales tax and the neighborhood next door to me is like a war zone. Teach me how to fail like you, Kemba
Amercans are generally ignorant about overseas pastures and have a superiority complex which can lead NBA players to believe that being the 14th man on the Hornets/Rockets/Magic is more respectable or better than earning a similar or higher salary in Barcelona, Madrid, Athens or Monaco 😂 personally , I'd choose the latter. It'd would also be good for their brands, imagine Melo on a team like Barca.
Goofies gotta understand it’s a way bigger bag over there if their NBA career is effectively over with.
Overseas is fine unless it's China, Russia or the Middle East.
Middle East, imagine the Saudis get an interest in basketball and start handing out billlion dollar deals like in soccer
great video again mate.
I think most of the NBA players that dont decide to play in Euroleague when clearly their NBA top careeer is over
are low motivation athletes. They usually know what they will face in Euroleague where many former NBA all stars or even super stars failed , euroleague is not a joke.So they just go for a bunch of more dollars to play FOR REAL for the SHARKS in China,where...with all respect to the chinese league...noone in the rest of the world knows what happens there, noone cares.
As for the best Euroleague teams vs Worst NBA teams...well,its mostly about the rules and the court. With international rules at a european court the euroleague top teams will probably win not only the worst but even some playoff NBA teams sometimes. From the other hand if a top euroleague team face a mediocre or average NBA team in an NBA court with NBA rules i would bet to the NBA team every time,no question about it
Dude, I guy plays over a DECADE in the NBA and thats not good enough? WTF! Its like if you dont play tell ur 40 ur washed up...
I’m sorry but I really believe the worst nba team could beat the best euro team in a 7-game series!!!
I honestly wish IT4 goes to Europe
IT is exactly what they want overseas from an American player.
everyone cares that dwight won a championship ring. just like everyone makes fun of barkley for never winning
what i'm saying is it's not changed his legacy the way it would've had he done it in orlando, when you talk about the greatest bigmen in nba history. Dwight is rarely mentioned among the very best
the best euro team would get demolished by the worst nba team
Narrative*
Great video!
It's like having Groundskeeper Willie tell me about the NBA
Not all players at NBA fit well on the Euroleague, point guards has not the responsability in defense that position requieres.
Lot of good attack players of NBA a move to Europe, and do nothing.
Eg Stephenson has no the level to play in Euroleague, neither the mentality.
We need games between lottery teams and the best Euro League teams
The pay isn’t that great unless you can get that max contract in the euro league which is around 5 million.
Hell...Steph Marbury went to China and became a LEGEND...
China is a circus league though. Euroleague is the real deal
Being a legend in China gets you 0 respect though. Irrelevant league with semi pro players. It's actually the worst spot to land if you care about your legacy. Jimmer Fredette used to have more than 35ppg average in China and he was so horrible in the EL that he was waived mid-season and noone cared.
@@johndistick9702 we can agree to disagree...
the ego of those unwanted washed up NBA players criticizing Kemba Walker.
In my country they say "It's better to be a boss in the countryside than a beggar in the city". So I don't see what is the problem with the arrival of Kemba Walker in the Euroleague. As it was said in the video, it is better for him to come to Europe and be somebody and something than to be a doormat in the NBA
What you are missing is that John Wall already earned $250 million gross in his NBA career, so getting $2-3 million a year in Milan is not going to make a difference for him.
People forget that one of the first NBA stars to play in Europe was Dominique Wilkins, and he won Euroleague and was finals MVP with Panathinaikos.
