  • HOW TO USE RETIN-A CORRECTLY SO YOU GET THE BEST RESULTS.
    Hello, love! Cody here with Montarbo Skincare. Always here to help YOU have the most healthy, glowing and gorgeous skin possible.
    In today's video, I want to share my thoughts about Retin-A and " How to use it correctly so you get the best results." Please be careful and use sound judgment when using a prescription like Retin-A.
    Ever feel confused by skincare products And how to use them to get the best results? Click the link below to get FREE skincare techniques, honest product reviews, and a plethora of skincare secrets that I ONLY share with my personal clients.

    Also, please seek medical advice from your Doctor and in no way is my personal advice, experience or opinions meant to replace a dermatologist or Doctor recommendations. Follow your Doctors recommendations and instructions, not mine. Theses instructions on Retina-A are what I give to my personal clients after looking and working on their skin.
    NEW STORE: montarboskincar...
    CORRECTION IN VIDEO: I mention using Retin-A three times a week, but I want you to be the judge of your own skin sensitivity. You are more than welcome to start off using Retin-A once a week at first then increase to three times or more if your skin can handle it. TRUST YOURSELF TO KNOW WHAT YOUR SKIN NEEDS.
    Using Retin-A consistently is a wonderful way to help rebuild and recondition your skin's cells. It does this by restoring and building collagen and elastin proteins and restoring your skin to its natural balance over time. It also helps strengthen and tighten the skin, exfoliates, and brightens the complexion from pigmentation and discoloration.
    Rein-A is a powerful vitamin which can also cause irritation, redness, and dryness. Part of the risk you take when using this strong medication and vitamin is some irritation. It is normal, common and should be expected.
    If you are experiencing too much irritation, then back off for a few days or follow the instructions in the link below where I explain how to calm down your skin from using Retin-A. Please be careful when using Retin-A by not using too much too quickly, or by using a stronger percentage than necessary. It is not about a higher percentage. It about being consistent and calming down any irritation in between uses with more moisture, vegetable glycerine or a calming mask. Also, always wear sunscreen when using
    Retin-A.
    Click link below to watch my video showing you, " How to calm down dry skin during the winter." This video has tons of great advice showing you how to calm down dry and irritated skin even during the winter when using Retin-A. • Video
    Also, here is another video showing you my " Dry skin moisturizing trick. " This will also help calm down Retin-A irritation. • Video .
    Alright gorgeous, I know I have said a ton here so please ask your questions below and share this video with anyone you know who might be confused about Retin-A and how to use it correctly.

      Montarbo Skin Care: San Diego's Chemical Peel & Acne Facial Experts I am using retinA 0.25% since last month but nothing happened. I didn't get peeling or anything just a lil bit dry pathes on my chin that's it. I use it every other night and I use glycolic the other night . I thought I will get all that scary side effects but it didn't so i am confused if it's working or not. And yeah I don't use moisturizer on retinA night I used it other morning. I use baby aveeno eczema moisturizer.

      Hira Zulfiqar Hello and forgive my delay. I think you should be fine using twice as much as you currently use your skin is thicker or more on the oily side.I would use maybe two pea size amounts on your skin and really rub it in well. Let me know if this changes anything or you might need to go up to 05.

    I just started usingRetin -A about 3 weeks ago. the first week, I used it every day. I had some peeling and irritation. I backed of to 3x a week and worked up to every night now with zero problems. I use cerave moisturizer, and always with an SPF. Already, there is s real difference! my 11s are gone. crows feet super diminished and on their way out. I swear, my hooded and crepey eyes are tightening up big time! my skin looks super healthy and glowy. I've added lactic acid at 5% in the morning, and rosehip oil. I will use retin-A for the rest of my life! I'm 41 this month, and probably have taken 5 years off my skin. I would say use a gentle cleanser and definitely an SPF!

      so do you mix the retin-a with cerav after washing skin before going to bed? and then next morning putting sunblock on before going outside? what do you use to wash your skin before applying retin A? I normally just use regular soap or body wash soap. I'm a dude, so i'm going into this blind. i decided to use it after the past 2 yrs, i'm getting spots/freckles on my face and also have had past acne scars which i don't think will help for that since the acne scars are so old.

    I think Retin A is the best thing that I have used on my skin - The results are outstanding.
    BUT
    initially I had horrible problems with it irritating my skin.....like sunburn and dry flakiness.
    I was told by a dermatologist in Chicago to use a low strength once every 10 days at night. I did that for 3 months and the irritation was loads less. That really helped my skin to develop a tolerance.
    Now I can apply it much more often. I am so glad I stuck at it because it works like nothing else.

    Best explanation I ever heard. Thanks for your time to make this video! I am just wondering ,while you are using Retin A 3 times per week, what do you apply other nights, just regular night moisturizer? Also, do I have to wash my face with a face wash the next morning or just rinsing with water enough? Please answer my questions soon! Thanks for your videos!

    OMG!!! You are good! I've had melasma for 5 years (around the same time I started waxing my eyebrows and upper lip) and didn't know what was going on. I certainly didn't connect the dots. I saw one doctor and he told me to use sunscreen. Just this week I saw another doctor because over time the melasma has spread from my cheeks to the forehead and nose and I was prescribed tetinoin. I've reviewed a lot of videos in the past few days here on UA-cam and your instruction, explanation and guidance is priceless. Thank you a million times!!! I have become so self conscious and after watching this video am looking forward to a positive outcome. I am now well informed. Thank you again.

    I've been using Retin-a for probably a year now due to the fact that I had been breaking out with acne pretty often but mildly. I've never got sensitive, irritated or dry after using it. (I have dry skin). My skin cleared up a couple of days before my appointment but as that was usual for me. I started using it right away with the instructions of my Dermatologist. Started small with twice a week on acne prone areas. I did start ending up using it consistently and religiously because I had not really broken out (I did get light occasional pimples). I do a nice clean skincare routine with consistent use. In the last few weeks, I finally broke out with harsh cystic acne and I can't seem to shake it.

    Great advice.
    However, I would suggest that people experiment a little bit more with their regimes just to see if they can go further, faster.
    I’ve just started on 0.025% (2 weeks ago) with 4% Niacinamide in the formulation (Dermatica) and I’ve already noticed that my skin is smoother. I use it every night followed by The Ordinary moisturiser.
    I’m so happy with it so far that I put a second layer on some problem areas last night as an experiment(my nose), which I assume increased the strength applied to my skin to 0.05%. I experienced no problems whatsoever this morning, so I’m going to carry on this practice.
    The other thing I’ve experimented with, which I heard from another UA-camr, is that you can apply a tiny bit under your eyebrows( carefully!) which will help to lift them, so I’m doing that too! Again, no problems. I’m also very gently applying a tiny bit just inside the eye socket under my eyes and WOW ! Dark rings are no more!
    If you try any of these ideas, just be careful and don’t overdo it and preferably use the lowest strength, especially around the eye area(don’t go too close! Ever)
    Any slight reaction can easily be rectified with a ton of moisturiser!

You say it travels to surrounding areas...is this why my nostrils are so dry and sensitive to the point of bleeding? I avoid getting close to that area. Any suggestions what I should do? This video is so helpful. Thank you so much for this! Am I allowed to use a glycolic acid toner when using Retin-A? Some sources say Retin-A and AHAs cancel each other out, while other sources say that's not true. But you seem very informed about skincare so that's why I wanted to ask you!

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego

      Thank you. Hmm....never heard that. I do it all the time. I recommend the AHA be lighter (10%) so you don't cause too much irritation. Using AHA with RA will work quickly but cause potential irritation so use more moisture and oils to give your skin some love.

    I have very sensitive skin. I used it only once a week for 2 weeks, the 3rd week i started application 2 times a week. So far I haven't had any irritation, redness, the smallest of peeling, and of course more acne. I cleanse, apply a thin layer of moisturizer. Wait 40 minutes, apply vaseline around my eyes and lips, then apply tretinoin. Wait 40 minutes then apply more moisturizer

    Hi great explanation. I've been using Retin-a for almost 6 mo. I have the tretinoin cream 0.25%. I got it from my pc doc. At my last visit I figured I'd be ready for the next 0.50 % strength. Well, the more I thought about it I decided no. I'm sticking with the lowest. Here's my reason. I'm almost 70. Very thin fair skin. A tiny bit of sun damage as far as hyper pigmentation. I've had very little flaking and or irritation from jump one. And I do see improvement, but I've heard it can take up to one full year. Especially to really see good results. So that is why I did not want to push it. Do you feel this is a good plan for my first year??? Thanks for your video.

    Hi! I love this video! I’ve been using retin-a .025 for 2 weeks now. I don’t have sensitive skin, thank goodness, and I’ve only had some slight redness and 1 pimple popped up last night. I wasn’t sure I was using the Retin-a correctly, but now I’m sure I’m on the right path. Thank-you!

    Can Retin-A permanently repair old trauma scars, say decades old?

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego
      @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego  7 років тому +2

      Hello, I don't thnk it will help much. Best to use a moisturizing product or silicone gel. It won't hurt but don't think it will do much especially if its a decade old. A light chemical peel might help or a derma roller.

      Rejuvasil worked miracles on my old really thick scar tissue, I can barely believe the results. I think it might be prescription only (not sure bc my dermatologist gave it to me) but definitely ask your derm about it!

    Thank you so much! It's my first time ever using Retin A and other acne meds so I'm super scared to start. I got prescribed 0.05% Retin A how many times a week would be best to start off?

    • @adibakhan5563
      @adibakhan5563 4 роки тому +1

      Every other day is a great start. Some need to start 3x a week if the skin is too sensitive. Apply over a thick moisturizer like cerave or cetaphil.
      Start with 0.025% start with half a pea sized... build slowly to 1 and 1/2 pea size all over the face. If u are under 30 n 0.025% controls all your acne there is no need to go to 0.05%. Go to 0.05% only if u are above 30 or 0.025% does not control your acne

      Gin Amber hello Jen and fellow este. So glad you're here! Well, it depends. In my opinion, it is probably not safe unless you're hard core and your skin is though. I don't think it would be terrible to try once in a while( with a lower depth needles) if you have been using RA for a long time but In general, I'm not a huge fan of derma rolling. With RA the skin become very sensitive and trying to drive it into the skin could cause dermatitis, irritation and even allergic reaction. Slower is better in my opinion when using RA so the skin will slowly accept more and more Acid into the skin driving it deeper. Does that make seance? Looking forward to your response and staying in touch on UA-cam. Much love, Cody

    My dermatologist gave me 0.1 right away even though I said I have sensitive skin... So I've been using sensitive skincare, making sure my skin has time to dry before applying, using Vaseline on eyes/nose/lips, and trying to use it every other day. It's going pretty good so far, I tried to increase to every day but I think it's too soon.

    How much Retin-A should I use as well? I have dark acne spots all over my face because I compulsively pick at my face and I can't help it. I've h=been using the 0.05% (blue tube) with like a pea sized amount for my forehead, another pea sizied for left cheek, another pea sized for right cheek etc. Am I overusing it? Because I felt quite sensitive today, especially around my nose and mouth area. I'm not sure why as well, if it's because of the Retin-A, because I get something quite often but idk what it is, it's like supppper dry irritated like a rash around my lips. It's not visible though, if I lick it it feels like sandpaper but it itches and burns so bad, the only thing that helps a little is Hydrocortisone. I doubt it's the Retin-A because my mum and sister also gets it, but if you could provide some info on that, if you might know what it could be, that would be amazing! Thank you!

      Morning love. Love your idea about he giveaway. Definitely going to look into that. Haven't done one in years and I've never done one on UA-cam. Sorry, .25 and .5 means 0.25 and 0.50 percent. It sounds like you might be getting a rash or contact dermatitis or some purging. I would back off applying any Retin-A in the vicinity of where you're getting a mild irritation. And then use the vegetable glycerin to calm it down a bit or use some hydrocortisone 1% any brand.

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego
      @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego  7 років тому +4

      Mandiie Seepaul hello my dear. It sounds like you're getting some purging from the Retin-A which is common because it can cause oxygen to pull up any congestion in the skin. This is the crappy part which happens to most and it is recommended to ride it through, if you can. Using it three days a week would be what I recommend but only if you feel like your skin is OK. Don't try to push it if you feel like your skin is too sensitive. The hydrocortisone that you're using is a great agent to help calm down your skin and also ice cubes can help too. Have you seen my vegetable glycerin and oatmeal mask video? Those are two of the best agents I recommend using during Retin-A to calm down your skin from irritation.

    • @XxXMandz
      @XxXMandz 7 років тому

      Thank you soooo much for all of your help! My face is extremely itchy for the past two days (my cheek acne) even though I haven't used the Retin-A and there's no peeling, so idk why that's happening! I just applied some hydrocortisone on my cheeks but they still itch like crazy! I'm going to do another glycolic peel tomorrow. Btw, I had a glycolic peel in the middle of Jan somewhere( that barely peeled at ALL and I saw no results), 3 weeks after on the 2nd of Feb I had a stronger one that helped a LOT and it peeled a lot, and since that one he told me to use the Retin-A everyday after peeling stopped along with Demelan (which I didn't get a chance to buy so I haven't used it) and I have another appt for a peel tomorrow! Do you think that too much of my skin will peel off? I'm very worried about that maybe harming my skin, though I guess I'm supposed to trust the dermatologist. I REALLY hope I'm not becoming overbearing with my questions and bothering you ): /=

    • @XxXMandz
      @XxXMandz 7 років тому

      I totally understood you meant the lowest % is 0.25 but I was kinda confused cause the first tube I used was grey and was 0.025% and now this one I'm using is the blue one that's 0.05%, so I guess there's also a 0.1% that's stronger than mine and then a 0.25 and 0.5 after that Montarbo Skin Care: San Diego's Chemical Peel & Acne Facial Experts

      WOW thank you love. You are too kind. Yes, I can in the future for sure. With the research I have read the new drink and supplements are often hype with minimal testing and proven research. Much more research is being done if the claims they are making are true. Biggest problem is if the body and skin will actually absorb the vitamins helping to improve collagen. Most of the "collagen" drinks out there seem like a scam o be honest. I need to do some more research and testing myself.
