This is one of the best explanations on how and why you should use Retin-A that I have ever heard. Such great explanations and how to. Thank you so very much!
Thank you so much for being here and for leaving such a great comment. I'm so glad it was helpful. Always here to be of service in anyway that you need. Have a Fantastic day!
Montarbo Skin Care: San Diego's Chemical Peel & Acne Facial Experts I am using retinA 0.25% since last month but nothing happened. I didn't get peeling or anything just a lil bit dry pathes on my chin that's it. I use it every other night and I use glycolic the other night . I thought I will get all that scary side effects but it didn't so i am confused if it's working or not. And yeah I don't use moisturizer on retinA night I used it other morning. I use baby aveeno eczema moisturizer.
Hira Zulfiqar Hello and forgive my delay. I think you should be fine using twice as much as you currently use your skin is thicker or more on the oily side.I would use maybe two pea size amounts on your skin and really rub it in well. Let me know if this changes anything or you might need to go up to 05.
I just started usingRetin -A about 3 weeks ago. the first week, I used it every day. I had some peeling and irritation. I backed of to 3x a week and worked up to every night now with zero problems. I use cerave moisturizer, and always with an SPF. Already, there is s real difference! my 11s are gone. crows feet super diminished and on their way out. I swear, my hooded and crepey eyes are tightening up big time! my skin looks super healthy and glowy. I've added lactic acid at 5% in the morning, and rosehip oil. I will use retin-A for the rest of my life! I'm 41 this month, and probably have taken 5 years off my skin. I would say use a gentle cleanser and definitely an SPF!
Hiiiiiiii.. i have to start ... Retin a. Plz tell me.. should i apply on whole face.. .! Or only in marks. I want to repair my whole face. If only on marks then what should I apply on rest of the face at nite.
so do you mix the retin-a with cerav after washing skin before going to bed? and then next morning putting sunblock on before going outside? what do you use to wash your skin before applying retin A? I normally just use regular soap or body wash soap. I'm a dude, so i'm going into this blind. i decided to use it after the past 2 yrs, i'm getting spots/freckles on my face and also have had past acne scars which i don't think will help for that since the acne scars are so old.
Cody I watched your video about hydration when using Retin A and you recommend Vegetable Glycerin. I tried using it because my skin was "sore" from dryness. What a HUGE difference it has made for me! Thank you sooooo much!

Hi, Thanks for the great info on Retin A ! Iam 64 yrs old and Iam just starting Retin A today ! I will look at all your videos eventually, you explain things so good, I appreciate that ! Have a great day ! ox Denise
I think Retin A is the best thing that I have used on my skin - The results are outstanding. BUT initially I had horrible problems with it irritating my skin.....like sunburn and dry flakiness. I was told by a dermatologist in Chicago to use a low strength once every 10 days at night. I did that for 3 months and the irritation was loads less. I've been using Retin-A for about a year and a half. I must say this is the best information I've heard!! Just subbed, looking forward to follow your videos, thank you!! Blessings!
OMG!!! You are good! I've had melasma for 5 years (around the same time I started waxing my eyebrows and upper lip) and didn't know what was going on. I certainly didn't connect the dots. I saw one doctor and he told me to use sunscreen. Just this week I saw another doctor because over time the melasma has spread from my cheeks to the forehead and nose and I was prescribed tetinoin. I've reviewed a lot of videos in the past few days here on UA-cam and your instruction, explanation and guidance is priceless. Thank you a million times!!! I have become so self conscious and after watching this video am looking forward to a positive outcome. I am now well informed. Thank you again.
I've been using Retin-a for probably a year now due to the fact that I had been breaking out with acne pretty often but mildly. I've never got sensitive, irritated or dry after using it. (I have dry skin). My skin cleared up a couple of days before my appointment but as that was usual for me. I started using it right away with the instructions of my Dermatologist. Started small with twice a week on acne prone areas. I did start ending up using it consistently and religiously because I had not really broken out (I did get light occasional pimples). I do a nice clean skincare routine with consistent use. In the last few weeks, I finally broke out with harsh cystic acne and I can't seem to shake it.
Best explanation I ever heard. Thanks for your time to make this video! I am just wondering ,while you are using Retin A 3 times per week, what do you apply other nights, just regular night moisturizer? Also, do I have to wash my face with a face wash the next morning or just rinsing with water enough? Please answer my questions soon! Thanks for your videos!
So knowledgeable... I clicked the next video and had to come back to like and comment cuz I couldnt be selfish with my love after all that giving you just did
I have very sensitive skin. I used it only once a week for 2 weeks, the 3rd week i started application 2 times a week. So far I haven't had any irritation, redness, the smallest of peeling, and of course more acne. I cleanse, apply a thin layer of moisturizer. Wait 40 minutes, apply vaseline around my eyes and lips, then apply tretinoin. Wait 40 minutes then apply more moisturizer
Thank you for this super informative video. My dermatologist did not educate me retin A, just told me dab a little on. I am an information junky, the more I know the better. Thank you again
Vicky Traversa Vicky thank you so much for confirming that. I know that I always say that because it's one of my biggest fears that I am not making any sense. It's an issue I'm still working on. Work in progress but again thank you for confirming that it's all in my head.
I have to agree with Reggie P, this is the best video on how to use Retin-A I have seen. I just bought my first tube and applied it last night just as you described...thank you so much. I am using the 0.025 every three nights so I have logged the schedule down on my smart phone and will follow that until I see any affects. I look forward to hearing more from you and watching your videos. Bless you.
Omg I'm so glad I found you!!!! I've been using lowest percentage Retin A for 6 months and I just started the mid percentage one this month. My skin is peeling more. You say it travels to surrounding areas...is this why my nostrils are so dry and sensitive to the point of bleeding? I avoid getting close to that area. Any suggestions what I should do? Oh and can I mix hydroquinone with retin a and apply it together? Love love love your channel!!!!
Thank you Cody - I have just started using Retin A 0.05% four weeks ago every other night and I will try it with lavender essential oil and see what happens. I will let you know. Fuerte & Suerte Stephanie 💋
Thank you!!! OMG I've had Retin-a in my cabinet forever but was afraid to use it.. it doesn't expire till 7/17 so whoo hoo!! I can't wait to try it now. thank you!!!
This video is so helpful. Thank you so much for this! Am I allowed to use a glycolic acid toner when using Retin-A? Some sources say Retin-A and AHAs cancel each other out, while other sources say that's not true. But you seem very informed about skincare so that's why I wanted to ask you!
Thank you. Hmm....never heard that. I do it all the time. I recommend the AHA be lighter (10%) so you don't cause too much irritation. Using AHA with RA will work quickly but cause potential irritation so use more moisture and oils to give your skin some love.
Just subscribed to you channel. Excellent tips on Retin A. I always go through that ugly stage and look 20 years older then I really am. That makes me stop using it. After seeing this I'm gonna jump back on and stay with it! Thanks again!!!
Great advice. However, I would suggest that people experiment a little bit more with their regimes just to see if they can go further, faster. I’ve just started on 0.025% (2 weeks ago) with 4% Niacinamide in the formulation (Dermatica) and I’ve already noticed that my skin is smoother. I use it every night followed by The Ordinary moisturiser. I’m so happy with it so far that I put a second layer on some problem areas last night as an experiment(my nose), which I assume increased the strength applied to my skin to 0.05%. I experienced no problems whatsoever this morning, so I’m going to carry on this practice. The other thing I’ve experimented with, which I heard from another UA-camr, is that you can apply a tiny bit under your eyebrows( carefully!) which will help to lift them, so I’m doing that too! Again, no problems. I’m also very gently applying a tiny bit just inside the eye socket under my eyes and WOW ! Dark rings are no more! If you try any of these ideas, just be careful and don’t overdo it and preferably use the lowest strength, especially around the eye area(don’t go too close! Ever) Any slight reaction can easily be rectified with a ton of moisturiser!
Thank you so much for explaining how retin a travels. I never understood why you stop applying around eyes and mouth when you want that area to show results and I am stubborn so I would always push it too far and get irritation.
Hi! I love this video! I’ve been using retin-a .025 for 2 weeks now. I don’t have sensitive skin, thank goodness, and I’ve only had some slight redness and 1 pimple popped up last night. I wasn’t sure I was using the Retin-a correctly, but now I’m sure I’m on the right path. Thank-you!
Gin Amber hello Jen and fellow este. So glad you're here! Well, it depends. In my opinion, it is probably not safe unless you're hard core and your skin is though. I don't think it would be terrible to try once in a while( with a lower depth needles) if you have been using RA for a long time but In general, I'm not a huge fan of derma rolling. With RA the skin become very sensitive and trying to drive it into the skin could cause dermatitis, irritation and even allergic reaction. Slower is better in my opinion when using RA so the skin will slowly accept more and more Acid into the skin driving it deeper. Does that make seance? Looking forward to your response and staying in touch on UA-cam. Much love, Cody
Hi great explanation. I've been using Retin-a for almost 6 mo. I have the tretinoin cream 0.25%. I got it from my pc doc. At my last visit I figured I'd be ready for the next 0.50 % strength. Well, the more I thought about it I decided no. I'm sticking with the lowest. Here's my reason. I'm almost 70. Very thin fair skin. A tiny bit of sun damage as far as hyper pigmentation. I've had very little flaking and or irritation from jump one. And I do see improvement, but I've heard it can take up to one full year. Especially to really see good results. So that is why I did not want to push it. Do you feel this is a good plan for my first year??? Thanks for your video.
Hello Linda! Yes, I think you are wise and on the right track with knowing your skins tolerance. There is no rush here. Build up tolerance first and use it consistently and you will continue to get fantastic results.
My dermatologist gave me 0.1 right away even though I said I have sensitive skin... So I've been using sensitive skincare, making sure my skin has time to dry before applying, using Vaseline on eyes/nose/lips, and trying to use it every other day. It's going pretty good so far, I tried to increase to every day but I think it's too soon.
Thank you so much! It's my first time ever using Retin A and other acne meds so I'm super scared to start. I got prescribed 0.05% Retin A how many times a week would be best to start off?
Every other day is a great start. Some need to start 3x a week if the skin is too sensitive. Apply over a thick moisturizer like cerave or cetaphil. Start with 0.025% start with half a pea sized... build slowly to 1 and 1/2 pea size all over the face. If u are under 30 n 0.025% controls all your acne there is no need to go to 0.05%. Go to 0.05% only if u are above 30 or 0.025% does not control your acne
Thank you very much for the video Cody you answered all my question and concerns I had on retin-A. Love your videos and thanks for giving your true opinion on all the products out there in the market.
Hello, I don't thnk it will help much. Best to use a moisturizing product or silicone gel. It won't hurt but don't think it will do much especially if its a decade old. A light chemical peel might help or a derma roller.
Rejuvasil worked miracles on my old really thick scar tissue, I can barely believe the results. I think it might be prescription only (not sure bc my dermatologist gave it to me) but definitely ask your derm about it!
Great video - love your gym analogies! I've tried retin-a and give up every time, but I'm going to check out your other videos on how to calm it down. Do you have a favorite sunscreen your recommend when using it? Thanks, Kim
Thank you so much! I love La Roche Posay for store brand sunscreen. Have a look at their site in the link. //www.laroche-posay.us/sunscreen. Of course, I carry one in my brand which is my top seller but unfortunately it is sold out right now.
Thank you 😊 I am 48 and just got a script for Tretinion and wasnt sure how to use it. Found this after watching several videos and it was very informative!

hi I just subscribed to your channel..love your videos I commented on another video... I've been using the lowest percentage of tretinoin 0.025% my skin looking great but I'm not really peeling.
How much Retin-A should I use as well? I have dark acne spots all over my face because I compulsively pick at my face and I can't help it. I've h=been using the 0.05% (blue tube) with like a pea sized amount for my forehead, another pea sizied for left cheek, another pea sized for right cheek etc. Am I overusing it? Because I felt quite sensitive today, especially around my nose and mouth area. I'm not sure why as well, if it's because of the Retin-A, because I get something quite often but idk what it is, it's like supppper dry irritated like a rash around my lips. It's not visible though, if I lick it it feels like sandpaper but it itches and burns so bad, the only thing that helps a little is Hydrocortisone. I doubt it's the Retin-A because my mum and sister also gets it, but if you could provide some info on that, if you might know what it could be, that would be amazing! Thank you!
Morning love. Love your idea about he giveaway. Definitely going to look into that. Haven't done one in years and I've never done one on UA-cam. Sorry, .25 and .5 means 0.25 and 0.50 percent. It sounds like you might be getting a rash or contact dermatitis or some purging. I would back off applying any Retin-A in the vicinity of where you're getting a mild irritation. And then use the vegetable glycerin to calm it down a bit or use some hydrocortisone 1% any brand.
Mandiie Seepaul hello my dear. It sounds like you're getting some purging from the Retin-A which is common because it can cause oxygen to pull up any congestion in the skin. This is the crappy part which happens to most and it is recommended to ride it through, if you can. Using it three days a week would be what I recommend but only if you feel like your skin is OK. Don't try to push it if you feel like your skin is too sensitive. The hydrocortisone that you're using is a great agent to help calm down your skin and also ice cubes can help too. Have you seen my vegetable glycerin and oatmeal mask video? Those are two of the best agents I recommend using during Retin-A to calm down your skin from irritation.
Thank you soooo much for all of your help! My face is extremely itchy for the past two days (my cheek acne) even though I haven't used the Retin-A and there's no peeling, so idk why that's happening! I just applied some hydrocortisone on my cheeks but they still itch like crazy! I'm going to do another glycolic peel tomorrow. Btw, I had a glycolic peel in the middle of Jan somewhere( that barely peeled at ALL and I saw no results), 3 weeks after on the 2nd of Feb I had a stronger one that helped a LOT and it peeled a lot, and since that one he told me to use the Retin-A everyday after peeling stopped along with Demelan (which I didn't get a chance to buy so I haven't used it) and I have another appt for a peel tomorrow! Do you think that too much of my skin will peel off? I'm very worried about that maybe harming my skin, though I guess I'm supposed to trust the dermatologist. I REALLY hope I'm not becoming overbearing with my questions and bothering you ): /=
I totally understood you meant the lowest % is 0.25 but I was kinda confused cause the first tube I used was grey and was 0.025% and now this one I'm using is the blue one that's 0.05%, so I guess there's also a 0.1% that's stronger than mine and then a 0.25 and 0.5 after that Montarbo Skin Care: San Diego's Chemical Peel & Acne Facial Experts

Hi.....I'm new to your channel and I have been seeing a lot of ladies use Retin-A.... I had never heard of this before, and found out about it on UA-cam, and I'm very interested in it. I'm from Australia and next time I go to my doctor I am going to ask her about it. Thank you for this video, you have explained about it and how to use it very well. Thank you again🌸🌸
I just started following you and I think you are informative and adorable! Thank you, for sharing your knowledge! I just started using Retina -A 0.025 🤗 I am excited to see the results!
I am so mad that my dermatologist didn't tell me any of this or give me any warning. I have extremely sensitive skin, which she didn't ask me what type I have, and she's having me put this on daily. My skin is nearly blistered not even 1 week in. I am so thankful for your videos and feel very deceived by her.
wow I agree with everyone, very informative, and explained so even I could understand. Can't wait to watch more of your video's. Thank you Cody for all of your expertise on this important product.
have been using Vichy retinol ha concentrate claims has retinol this has been only product that seems to have most retin a if someone wants a mild process this is great used daily & exfoliated my whole face peeled no issues at all but now starting real stuff if you are not willing to have peeling skin & redness dont waste your time starting it & wasting money...great advice & you make lot of sense
Thank you so much for your easy to understand advice on how to correctly use Retin A and what it can do for your skin. I'm about to start using it for the first time, so I am watching many videos on the subject, yours was most helpful 😘
Hi Cody! First time watching your videos, and I’m LOVING how you explain everything to the point, and easy to digest. I’m just starting to use retin-a, and my skin is SO UPSET!!!! Dr didn’t give me any tips, and the box it came it said use EVERYDAY. It’s day 3 any my face is so irritated and angry. You’re a godsend 😭 Thank you so much for the great info, and I’m definitely going to recommend you to my friends!
Yesenia Solis - thanks! I gave it a rest since and my face is recovering wonderfully. It was flakey, itchy, swollen and red for a few days. I’ve been using Lush: angels on bare skin (wash) and cosmetic lad (moisturizer). They have oatmeal and lavender. I think I’m going to rest my skin for a day or two more till applying retin a again just 3 times a week like recommended in this video. Thanks Cody!
One word for you WOW. U r a MASTER. What a detailed and understood explanation. Can you do a video on Skin Multivitamin like capsules of ceramides, antioxidants etc from which skin markets are flooding. Do they rally works ? Which supplements u need to take for glowing skin ? Thank.
WOW thank you love. You are too kind. Yes, I can in the future for sure. With the research I have read the new drink and supplements are often hype with minimal testing and proven research. Much more research is being done if the claims they are making are true. Biggest problem is if the body and skin will actually absorb the vitamins helping to improve collagen. Most of the "collagen" drinks out there seem like a scam o be honest. I need to do some more research and testing myself.
I'm a brand new subscriber, and I'm so glad I found you! Such great information and tips!! I don't have acne, but am mature and want to help my skin look better! Thank you so much. I am currently suffering from really bad Retin A purging and skin redness. your video kinda helped me to really understand and remember that this is supposed to be. It Stil sucks though :(
This was very helpful. I have sensitive skin and struggle with the irritation and peeling, even though I'm only using 0.025%. I'll use some of your tips and try to establish a more "consistent" routine. Thanks so much!

Cody incorrectly stated the medication dosages for Retin-A/Tretinoin in this video. They are: 0.1%, 0.05% and 0.025% (listed strongest to weakest).
OMG this video is by far the best explaining the use of Tretinoin. Am on 4th Month with 0.025% and still struggling a bit. Thank you so much for this video!

boy007 w it depends on how your skin adjusts with the medication. Some people start with 0.025%. I personally started at 0.05%

I am just wondering ,while you are using Retin A 3 times per week, what do you apply other nights, just regular night moisturizer? Also, do I have to wash my face with a face wash the next morning or just rinsing with water enough? Please answer my questions soon! Thanks for your videos!
You can use moisturizer every other night. And yes whenever you apply retin a at night then next morning wash with a facewash
Thank you Cody!!!! You're a doll for all your help and videos! Great idea about the Retinol use! Internet hugs!!!!
So knowledgeable... I clicked the next video and had to come back to like and comment cuz I couldnt be selfish with my love after all that giving you just did
I knew most of this but only because I was pugnacious in my research. Wish I had found this video sooner! Thanks.
I love this guy. He is passionate about skin care.
Super helpful! thank you...I was almost ready to give up my retin A- I will keep going.
Barbara Rossi Yeah so glad your found this helpful. Keep me posted with your results. Don't give up just yet. Much love.
Wow Thank you. Great explanation on Retin A. I've been trying to get all the info I can to see if Iam brave enough to start on Retin A. Thank you !!
Never have heard thorough and clear explanation like in this video that answers 4Ws and H

Mia Ash What a great idea I can definitely do that
I’ve been using tretinoin now for a month every night 0.25 and no peeling or irritation thx luv🙏👏
Thank you for this super informative video. My dermatologist did not educate me retin A, just told me dab a little on. I am an information junky, the more I know the better. Thank you again
Hello Liliana! Yeah, I am so happy to hear this. Glad the video helped. Much love.
you always think you don't make sense, but you make perfect sense lovey
Vicky Traversa Vicky thank you so much for confirming that. I know that I always say that because it's one of my biggest fears that I am not making any sense. It's an issue I'm still working on. Work in progress but again thank you for confirming that it's all in my head.
Best video on this product!! Thank you!
Thank you love!
You've helped me understand my own RA experience SO MUCH! I could cry right now, I'm so happy I found you! Thank you!
Dear cody , thank you for very importand information .. really happy to find you new video again 😘😘😘
La,luna Ibiza It's always great to see you my love. Thank you for the consistent support you're amazing.
I’m going to try Retin-A again and try to stay on it. Thank you for this video. Will keep you updated with the results
Bless you.
Lacy McKenzie Thank you love. Excited to hear about your results. Keep me posted.
I have a beard will retin a thin it out or affect it? My beard is still coming in and I don’t want to stunt that growth
Stephanie Wilcockson OK sounds great my love. Keep me posted.
Thanks, you explained more than my dermatologist.
Thank you!!! OMG I've had Retin-a in my cabinet forever but was afraid to use it.. it doesn't expire till 7/17 so whoo hoo!! I can't wait to try it now. thank you!!!
Good to see you dear. Glad the video helped inspire you to use RetinA again. It's the best! Keep me posted with the result you notice.
Great explanation! Been on Retin A for a year now and it has been a great journey for my skin.
Thank you!
you are so kind
Have a friendly personality.
thanks for your time. thanks Jennifer
Stuart Pierce thank you so much Jennifer. What you see in me is also in you so thank you for being an incredible reflection.
Very informative! Thank you!! :)
Sarah Price Thanks Sarah! Glad you're here.

You are a definition of Gold! Thank you for your wise advises!
Can I just say..I frickon love you!! Big hugs from Buffalo
Ever)
Any slight reaction can easily be rectified with a ton of moisturiser!
Thank you so much for explaining how retin a travels. I never understood why you stop applying around eyes and mouth when you want that area to show results and I am stubborn so I would always push it too far and get irritation.
Roobear88 Hello again. I know what you mean about pushing it. I've learned the hard way for sure. 😂😘
Thank-you!
I love this video! 😘
THanks, gorgeous!
Love your energy. Thank you for this video. Just started Retin A today, feeling hopeful.
Have you seen any progress yet?
Hi, esthetician Gin here, random question. What is your opinion about derma rolling and right after using retin-a? Thank you :)
Subscribed.
Yes it does make sense, I have to agree with you just wanted to hear your opinion, thank you so much XOXO
+Gin Amber anytime love. Glad you're here.
Please suggest anything for under eye hollows instead of fillers
Thank you Cody for all the info; you make totally sense to me, your explanation is excellent.
Yay I’m so glad that I wasn’t a hot mess confusing you. Sending you so much appreciation!
Montarbo Skincare you’re the best, excellent videos 😉❤️
can you recommend products to use on retin a? specific vit c and sunscreen that you like?
J l Hello and yes of course. For storebrand sunscreen I recommend using a Laroche Posay or Purpose. And for C either Obagi, my brand or IS Clinical.
Can Retin-A permanently repair old trauma scars, say decades old?
Hello, I don't thnk it will help much. Best to use a moisturizing product or silicone gel. It won't hurt but don't think it will do much especially if its a decade old. A light chemical peel might help or a derma roller.
Rejuvasil worked miracles on my old really thick scar tissue, I can barely believe the results. I think it might be prescription only (not sure bc my dermatologist gave it to me) but definitely ask your derm about it!
Thank you for complete information. By the way, your face skin is glowing! Soooo good !
OMG... LOVE YOUR CHANNEL!
Thank you 😊 I am 48 and just got a script for Tretinion and wasnt sure how to use it. Found this after watching several videos and it was very informative!

Thank you for your comparison to exercise...this makes perfect sense.
hi I just subscribed to your channel..love your videos I commented on another video... I've been using the lowest percentage of tretinoin 0.025% my skin looking great but I'm not really peeling.
The best video I’ve watch on how to use retin A, thank u!
Oh, ps darling: we need you to revamp the old videos mentioned here about how to calm down skin. You've taken those down
Thank you dear, my 2 DIY mist and moisture mask videos are good references to soothe and nourish the skin.
U explained it so well...it's bcoz of u that I have started using retina a ....n can see results... thankyou so much
How much Retin-A should I use as well?
I just keep watching your videos. I'm trying to build up my confidence Retina A, I have crows feet 😢😢 . I feel my face has changed so much in the last 2 yrs. 53 yrs. Your skin is beautiful! You are the perfect spoke person for this type of product
You’re amazing. So glad I found you! My dermatologist just gave me samples of Retin-A today to use for acne.. didn’t explain any of this! Thank you!!
Wow! Thank you so much, I watched so many videos on Retin A , and you made it so easy to understand .
Thank you so much for your easy to understand advice on how to correctly use Retin A and what it can do for your skin. I'm about to start using it for the first time, so I am watching many videos on the subject, yours was most helpful 😘
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. xoxo
You’re a godsend 😭
Thank you so much for the great info, and I’m definitely going to recommend you to my friends!
Hang in there Its worth it.
Wow! I have learned a lot from this video! Thanks Cody!
Thank you so much. I am currently suffering from really bad Retin A purging and skin redness. your video kinda helped me to really understand and remember that this is supposed to be. It Stil sucks though :(
You’re so welcome. I absolutely agree on how annoying it is. I’m on the same boat and have to push through the side effects
