    Wow welcome everyone and thank you for your very kind questions and comments. Just wanted to clarify something about skin layers that I’m talking about in this video. I’m using the 40 layers as an analogy for you to understand thickness of skin like a sheet of paper or size as a hair. Not actual layers in epidermis or dermis. Each layer has several layer within each structure of skin. The thickness of each layer is my main pin that i’m trying to explain in a very simple away without overwhelming people with professional jargon. Hope this helps and makes sense. Please ask any questions and thank you for all of your love and support and welcome to all the new people.

    I've been using retin A for years off and on. You just explained why I'm not getting fully acclimated and still dealing with flakes and peeling. This is the first time I've heard someone talk about how this product needs to get through 40 layers of skin to be effective. This is a such a good visual. I had a retin A light bulb moment! At 47, it is about time!

    I remember how sensitive my skin was, I couldn’t even tolerate the Roc drugstore brand. Using your products to help acclimate my skin, I’m now using retin a 0.5% prescription strength without hardly any issues. Once in a blue moon I’ll get the occasional dryness and peeling but it’s not bad, I’m surprised how easy it’s been. Always I combat the dryness with a moisturizing mask from your DIY library, every one of them work, afterwards your new moisture repair serum makes my skin feel like silk. In my regimen to combat my Melasma I’m using your cleanser and beauty elixir in the a.m. and in the p.m. it’s my precision brightening cream and 10/15 minutes later my retin a which I apply on top of the brightening cream. I find this recipe has been controlling my Melasma better than ever. I always keep your exfoliating cleanser and lactic brightening treatment handy in case I need a boost. So happy I stayed the course and happy to have found you and your products. Happy New Year to you and your Montarbo Skincare Family.

    I’m so glad this popped up on my recommended! I’ve been on Tazorac for almost 7 years and have never had things explained and realize I’ve been using it incorrectly. I’ve only had a year where I think I used it consistently because my prescription had tons of refills. Lately I’ve been put on a 1% concentration and buffering with moisturizer plus slugging has helped with that terrible flaky stage. Sometimes I worry I’m overdoing it and skip it for days or a week here and there but I loved your metaphor of compound interest! I will keep pushing through and applying until I can reach every night!

    The way retinoids need to be used consistently for results reminds me of the way most antidepressants need to be used. You have to take them daily, not just when you feel like it, and it takes about 6 weeks for them to work fully. If you take Zoloft three times a week, you may as well quit. It seems like this works in a similar way. Anyway, great video, thank you!

    Hello Cody...first time viewer...Love your video and have to say your gorgeous skin speaks for itself. Just flawless. Luckily, with my combo Italian/Irish skin, I was blessed with great skin from the get go. Never had skin problems growing up but for an occasional hormonal spot here and there. If anything, tend to be on the dry side but started at age 14 to take good care of my skin. Now its so nice to follow videos and keep in touch with the latest and greatest products and keep up with the most cutting edge products and what they will and will not do, etc. As soon as I was an adult, I wasted no time with professional facials and purchasing from private lines from Estheticians and after awhile, my skin gets too used to the products and I change to another. Never a problem. I love trying new products and adore serums. Most had retinol in the products, so I never used Retinol alone until recently. I purchased Murad's Resurgence Retinol Serum and am trying to use it ever night but I find it very drying and eventually it will cause my skin to get rashy and it will burn and puff up my eyes like a frog, even though I'm very careful only to place it around the outside of my eyes. Will my skin eventually adjust or should I only use it every few days? Thank you.

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego
      @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego  3 роки тому

      Hi, it typically does adjust after awhile but depends on your skin. You could try just using it a few times a week at night to start with, then add more nights when you feel you’re acclimating.

    I got results from Retin A 0,05 after about a month of regular usage.
    7 nights per week. Retin A only on dry, cleansed with micelar water and rose oil skin.
    I started using it on my body as well. Under my Palmer’s pregnancy recovery body lotion. It has tremendous results after only two applications. My body skin turned glowing.
    I’m switching it now that I watched your video. Going to go lotion first and Retin A second on my body.
    From what you’re saying I’m figuring that since the penetration time for Retin A is longer it needs to go on top on the already penetrated superficial moisturiser, because when they mix or the cream goes on top the faster penetration rate of the superficial moisturiser catches up with the slower penetration rate of the deeper penetrating Retin A and the mixture acquires the penetration properties of the more superficial moisturiser.
    Thank you for all your insight! It’s really helpful.
    I’m also starting a Vit C serum under my day collagen cream with sunscreen.
    Glad to hear that you pray and meditate regularly. I do it too! God bless us all!

    Thank you for this video! I use retinaldehyde (0.03% at the moment) and then apply my moisturiser over the top a minute later. Did you say not to do that but to apply it as the total last step? I.e. moisturiser then retinaldehyde? I can understand why it would make sense in that you'd "disturb" the active ingredient less if you don't apply anything on top, but on the other hand there would be another layer of skincare underneath for it to penetrate through. My skin needs a little moisturiser. You sped quickly over that point and I'd love to get your view!

    I love your personality! I’m 30 and hardly ever use makeup. I’m currently using vitamin C from vitchy in the mornings with a colored sunscreen 50+ Should I start using retinol as well at nights? You said it takes 6 weeks to get used to it.....my wedding is in May! Should I start using it now and see how my skin reacts or should I wait until aaaaafter my wedding better? I just want to look my most beautiful and have a natural glow that day 🥰 love you!

    I tried retinol about 3 month ago, I did not do enough research about how to use it and I hate myself for it. The retinol I bought is from the drugstore for cheap. Because of the hype of chemical exfoliation (AHA BHA), I also tried it at the same time.... I ALSO didn’t not do enough research about it. I used a fruit derived AHA and BHA thinking that would be mild enough. At first I used the exfoliate AND the retinol DAY AND NIGHT, and then I started noticing acne-like bumps on my skin which I have never experienced before. I never grew up with acne, so that was why I pulled back from that and eventually stopped entirely. Things got worse and now my skin is so textured and have what feels and looks like cystic acne. I know I screwed up big time but do not know what IS wrong physiologically. The major thing I am concerned about is whether my skin would be able to return to its base line condition. Did I do irreversible damage to my skin? I would love your guidance as this video gave great insight into retinol use and skincare in general! Thank you so much!

    Make perfect sense as to why my skin is not changing. I went from Tretinoin .025% from my dermatologist to a concoction from Curology of Tretinoin .012%, Adelaic Acid 5% and Niacinamide 4% and at first it was great - no issues but at about 3 mths in, I am starting to get the redness and peeling that. Tretinoin alone gave me. I started putting it on last and went to every other day to every 2 days depending on how irritated my skin is. Should I push through and use everyday? Its winter here and the cold irritates my skin too. I am using Curology’s heavier lotion, which I love and Cerave w/ sunscreen during the day. Thank you for spelling it out!

    • @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego
      @MontarboSkinCareSanDiego  3 роки тому +1

      You could try but I suggest doing it at the pace you are comfortable with especially considering the cold. That cold weather is no fun while your skin is going through the side effects.

Also it said to put it on your skin after all the other products, and only at nighttime, so I already do that, your tip is just a reaffirmation to their disclaimer... it is the first retinol product I use so I will se what it does.

    Good advice. Yes, massage is undervalued, but i think it's time is coming at least here in the UK (Facegym, gua sha etc). I like The Ordinary retinoid/squalene 5%. It's been a good gentle, but effective one for speeding up menopausal acne healing without being harsh. Only took me about 4 days to get through the reacting phase. I used Differin gel in my 20s for acne. It was a lot more intensive, but not sure my hormonally sensitised skin would tolerate it well, even though I'm only early 40s. 😐

    I used Retin A since June last year and I literally never got to the "good stage" . My skin always red and inflamed, dry , peeling. I was so upset that I quit. I stopped last month bc with masks it got worse and I was disappointed. I dont think I was doing anything wrong. Infact, I tried a little cream to buffer it from making me peel but no. I looked so burned and raw .🥺

      Try Retinal ( Retinaldehyde) it gives the same results with no irritation. There's a brand called Medik8 they have different strengths. You can start with the lowest and build your way up as your skin becomes more resilient over time...

      I started with OTC retiniods first and used those for an entire year before I even went to the Rx! Slow is the way to go! Avene Retrinal products are quite gentle, start with the most gentle strength and slowly step up. Good luck!!

I started with 0.2 retinol about 12 years ago in my early 20s and now i'm thinking on starting tazarotene. It really is a journey and i just hope that by the time i'm 40 they've already come up with something stronger 😅
