As a die hard wrestling fan I'm glad for a site like youtube where you can find this classic wrestling footage.
Thats the gospel
When I was an 8 year old kid living in Roanoke VA, Paul Jones was my favorite wrestler. The matches he had w/Black Jack Mulligan over the the U.S. Title were clasic.
Brother those were bloodbaths.
Paul Jones if you ever read this you haven't been forgotten still in 2015......The same goes for Baron
B Taylor yes indeed
I remember when the Baron presented paul Jones with a "medal from the German people for Bravery." Great stuff.
Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling was the KING OF THE TERRITORIES!! THE BEST!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Rich Landrum -- The MAN!
Rest in peace Paul Jones! ❤️😪
Paul Jones great wrestler, manger, and The Best Liquor in ABC,Paul is a Legend
Von rascke will always look 50!! Even today at 80 he looks 50!!!!
Baron was old when I was young. Now I'm old and he is still old.
grandma I know you laughing in heaven at this lol
The Baron was and is awesome! His gravelly voice in promos were the best.
He did very well for himself, whether as a Rule breaker, or as a Fan Favorite. That dreaded Claw was definitely something that you didn't want to get caught in. If you did, it was "Lights out"!
RIP Paul Jones
what a great team God bless my grandma
Who is your grandma?
Grandma was always fun to watch NWA with. She hated Ric Flair and Greg Valentine.
i am glad that the baron went back into the awa as a good guy towards the end of his career. I saw some good matches in person, and me and 2 of my friends even talked with baron a little outside the denver arena once. he was a nice guy, him and rick martel, where together both nice guys.
Rest In Peace Paul Jones.
Remember this like yesterday what a true classic
Wow 😯 Paul Jones was so great
Notice that the Baron did wrestle outside the AWA and WWA during his illustrious career. In addition to the Mid-Atlantic, he wrestled in Georgia, the WWWF with Fred Blassie, and I believe St. Louis. He wrestled as the German Heavyweight Champion in the WWWF. I’m not sure whether he ever teamed with Baron Scicluna.
He made several tours of NWA's Central States as well - including one wild feud with Harley Race.
#1 Paul Jones was a very good worker. I believe he was better as a babyface than heel.He wrestled Dory Jr, Harley Race, Jack Brisco & Terry Funk when they were NWA World Champions. His best matches were vs Briscoe, they had many 60 min. broadways and a few 90 min. also. You have to a athelete and a very good worker to do long broadways. However IMO I thought Jones was a lousy manager. His promos were so-so. I have a ton of respect for #1 as a WRESTLER.
In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazines racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Paul Jones was ranked at #3 in the Most Hated Wrestler category. He and Baron Von Raschke were also ranked at #2 in the Tag Team Rankings.
Thanks
I love the baron still goose stepped even when he became a baby face in the 80s that's all the people need to know
How much more 70's can that announcer get???
The Baron rules!
Yep. Marshall was here in Los Angeles during that time. Of course, Marshall was the ring announcer for the Los Angeles portion of Wrestlemania 2.
Fun fact the Baron's 5X great grandfather was the king of germany
Rip Paul
And that is all the people need to know.
This is the year that I got my start, in watching Wrestling. The Mid-Atlantic area was definitely an exciting area of Wrestling to watch. The NWA was in full swing back then. Too bad that, by 2001, long after some of the area that had been under the NWA Banner, had been changed over to WCW, and then had gone out of business, having been bought by Mr. Greedy himself, Mr. Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
Paul Jones competed against fellow wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino on the April 18, 2018 episode of the game show Celebrity Bucket Kickers.
newl0bstr Shut up, you idiot!
Just saw where Blackjack Mulligan died on April 16th 2016
I respectfully disagree on Paul's work in the ring. He was certainly better than "ok". And while his managerial interviews were not good, his stuff with the Baron was classic.
Chris Bryant yeah from the Mid Atlantic stuff I seen od Paul Jones on you tube from the 70s I didn't think he was too bad as a wrestler. Didn't Paul Jones have some good feuds with Rick Steamboat? They were a few of the top guys for Crockett back then. I discovered Mid Atlantic Wrestleimg in 84 when I found it on a station in Philadelphia. I enjoyed it so much and thought Paul Jones was pretty good. I won't say he was a Bobby Heenan but he entertained me and I thought he held his own and entertained me. PIP WEASEL number 2 number 1
Yes,Dave makes that belt.
@LonelyVagabond I was gonna write that.....you're right!
classic
I didn't know Ron Jeremy commentated wrestling before he got into porn.
Sorry dude, but that's not Lee Marshall - it's Rich Landrum.
Lee Marshall! Check out the 70's perm and ruffle shirt.
That belt has a face on it.
That US belt belongs to blackjack Mulligan
Gimme that belt jones
@ItchyGoomie WELL, IT IS 1979
does reggie parks or Dave Millican have that belt out yet.
Since when is Quebec in Germany?
I think it was Raschke, he took a head of cabbage and ran it back and forth on chain link during a promo saying he was going to make slaw out of his opponent
What fire does not destroy it hardens, that's a nice little bit.
How could any one ever take this PJ shrimp serious?
I just had to sit through 1:30sec of Hell in order to get to the Promised Land!....."Aand dat' is all de' peeople need to know!!!!"
The Baron. Quite possibly the dullest German villian of all time
Rickey T that accent ?
But very dangerous. His clawhold won a lot of matches for him.
@@paulswatsell5209 Pretty good for a guy from Omaha. :-)
He scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid so I have to disagree.
Paul Jones is boring! Horrible interviews! Jim "Baron" Von Rashke was hilarious!
That promo pic of Steamboat is the gayest thing I've seen in a long time.
They should have had a picture of THE BIG CAT, Ernie Ladd!
You've never seen Adorable Adrian Adonis?
Paul Jones had a successful career in the NWA. But I'm not quite sure why. He was only an ok worker in the ring. He wasn't the most athletic man to look at. And he was awful on the mic. I'll give him credit for one thing, he definantly made the most of the limited ability that he had.
And that's all the people need to know.
