- From a 1979 episode of NWA World Wide Wrestling from WRAL-TV Studios in Raleigh, NC. Rich Landrum is the host:
The show closes with a promo by "Big Cat" Ernie Ladd, Big John Studd, and "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. - Спорт
The Big Cat was one of the best talkers and wrestlers EVER. I could listen to Ladd's interviews all day
I agree
No, he was ok
Great promo! RIP Ernie Ladd and Big John Studd.
It's not often that Ric Flair isn't the best promo guy on camera. But Ernie Ladd could be incredible when he got going. His promos on Chief Jay Strongbow were god-tier.
The drunken Indian needs to go back to the reservation, he needs to get in a teepee!
@@troylowe814 Nobody could do it like the Big Cat!! I don't think I've ever laughed that hard!
That's quite a heel stable.
Even before his first World title, you could see that great charisma from the Nature Boy.
3 Hall of famers
When it comes to promos, Flair, Piper, Rock, etc are given tons of credit for being among the best ever, but to me no one was as entertaining on the mic as Ernie Ladd.
Same to me, Ladd was the man
No one like the Big Cat. Cannot be duplicated.
Rock is not on the level of Ric or Piper on the Mic.
It's ironic in the NWA how the good guys were the serious ones and the bad guys always said the funny things.
Don't forget the Macho Man!
Ernie always complimented his fellow heels!
This was when pro wrestling was at it's best. Now it sucks.Old school wrestling is the best.
Isotec1 it's the only reason why the WWE Network exists.
attitude era the best
Agreed!!!👏👏👏👏👍😎👊
Personalities makes a difference.
NWA Power is trying to bring this style back. The couple of episodes they've had so far has been amazing!
i miss this era.
i was raised watching big cat ernie ladd, always the perfect heel inside the ring and a real class act outside the ring...loved his work..can watch and listen to him all day, every day..R.I.P. ERNIE & BIG JOHN.
P
brian centi ERNIE "THE CAT " LADD AND BIG JOHN STUDD !
BRIAN CENTI
THANK YOU FOR THAT # 1 !
ERNIE " THE CAT " LADD AND
BIG JOHN STUDD
JAVIER THE LEGEND you're welcome javier..as far as big john and the big cat, well if you're there opponents and the big cat is the ''smaller'' of the two you're facing..you're screwed :)
brian centi who is bigger? Looks like stud is actually an inch or two shorter but might be 10-15lbs more
Absolute golden footage...
"Mister TV announcer" lol. Ernie ladd always said that. Even with vince McMahon. Never bothered to use their names. Great vid. Classic stuff here.
That what I was thinking
These were the great days of Wrestling! Love this stuff!! Old School Rules!!
ERNIE LADD DA BIG CAT BIG JOHN STUD RIC FLAIR NATURE BOY TRUE LEGENDS IN DA GAME THANKYOU FOR YA SERVICE
That music that closed the show gives me chills!!!!
The Big Cat was probably my favorite wrestler ever. I grew up in Houston and while Ernie Ladd was a heavy everywhere else, he was a fan favorite in Houston b/c he used to play for the Oilers.
Stop being overly reperative and dei, he was decent
I saw Ric Flair in 76' I was 12 at the time all the Mid-Alantic stars was at my local high school gym here in North Carolina ... he was the tv champ at the time Wahoo was the Mid -Alantic champ that was a great show I will never forget it !! My first show I ever saw live .
LOL..What a trio to interview at the same time.Love it.Classic.
Man, I love watching these classic videos, thanks MSF! They're great, and bring back a lot of awesome memories.
Breath of fresh air not seeing Virgil Runnels in the credits!
The old school guys knew how to talk smack baby ! Wooooooooo.
They were killers and outlaws back then. What the fuck WE HAVE NOW. A bunch of Matt Damon clones. WTF just happen to wrestling...other than that non-wrestling Disney company called WWE
Finrod Númenessë I agree!
No body is was or even will be better than Slick Rick the man
Ladd & Studd look like they would've made a great tag-team! Maybe call them
"The Big Studds"!
Flair is just being Flair! THE ICON!
Bigger than the twin towers of Spivey/Sid.
"i'll slap yo face on television right in front of the general public." LOL . . . i LOVE it!
Ernie was a hoot!
I miss the days of old school pro wrestling talent and the territory system. Nothing today comes close.
i miss the territories also, the talent was spread out
Vince Jr fuck things up.
I agree Vince McMahon Jr. killed the territories by poaching talent for his own personal gain and greed.
Agree 100% Myles....was a great time in wrestling. Will never come close again to being that good.
Especially Jim Crockett's. NWA was HUGE back then before WWF began to swallow up everything
This was a golden age for pro wrestling. Nothing today even come close. Remember watching from Sparta NC and Manassas VA.
What an awesome unit! Even among these monsters Flair is a giant. Whooooooo!
yep 6-2 250
This was old school hard core rasslin!!!
I remember this from when I was a kid. Gosh, where have all the years gone?
In 1979, a new pro wrestling publication hit newsstands and magazine racks across the nation. It was Pro Wrestling Illustrated. When the first issue went to press, Ken Patera & John Studd were ranked at #4 in the Tag Team Division. Patera was also ranked at #4 in both the National Wrestling Alliance and the Most Hated Wrestlers category. Ric Flair was ranked at #3 in the NWA and at #1 in the Most Hated Wrestlers category.
Made my mom buy it for me all the time, was my favorite!
Wow these promos were 100% legitimately believable
God damn this is gold. Big John studs rip
Look at these 3 studs. This was wrestling. RIP Big John Studd and the big cat Ernie Ladd.😊😊😊
I agree with all those comments, back then it got all different wrestling leagues (NWA, AWA, WCCW, SMOKY MONTAIN, GCW and so on) all those great wrestlers in their own territory and wrestling matches were great.
Think N.W.A. still exists(?)!
This is when wrestling was wrestling fun to watch ever week because you want to know what was going to happen!!!!
Big John and the big cat would have been a great tag team.
Truly classic!
the announcer in this clip is my grandpa and I had no clue he fud that until a few years ago
That's really cool. The greatest stories ever told came from the Territory Days of pro wrestling. I'll be Rich has quite a few.
I found out my manager at work was a fan and set up a meet for the two of them he was thrilled
Rich Landrum was a good announcer..I remember watching him and Johny Weaver..Weaver would "He is in Rich Landrum's no man's land" referring to a guy being trapped in a corner during a tag much and both guys beating on him..good stuff
Clicked on this because the announcer looked like Lamont Sanford on the thumbnail. Lmao
Big John Minton! Butler, PA's finest!!!!! RIP.
NO QUESTION MR TV ANNOUNCER LMFAO
Great Old School Promo.
Hard to believe Flair was 30 here.
so was I, at the time. :)
apachette07 Flair always looked old.
what else is new? like nobody's said that before... whatever....
I wasn't even thought about then lol. But here he didn't look that bad. I saw him in person in '06 and he looked like wrestling had really taken a toll on him.
+apachette07 At the time Hulk Hogan had hair and Andre was thin too.
I can see why Bobby Heenan was used to talk for Studd in WWF.
He was OK at promo
Professional wrestling old school was so much fun.. the trash talk, the characters. The modern product can't really touch it. Once in a while the rock, or aj or some true talent breaks out.
We had NWA in GA in the late 70s, but still the best wrestling ever. Ernie Ladd was mean as fu#$ lol lol
You don't know Jack 💩!!! GCW was founded in 1944 by Paul Jones! Vince only buys real establishments with history for his library.
"LIES, LIES, LIES!"
Love that exchange between Rich Landrum and Ernie Ladd!
I remember staying up until 1 AM Sunday morning to watch this show!
The Studness🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 The Cat👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾💥 and Slick Rick 🥇🏅. Ric would have been the perfect live action Shin if "Fist of the North Star" had been made in this time.
Yo Rick was leading the pack since the days of way back I remember this interview damn this is when wrestling was indeed entertaining and made you care who was champion.
Love Ernie Ladd.
Morgan Freeman sounds a bit like Ernie Ladd.
Was a kid at this time, great stuff. Todays Wrestling not the same. What can we say The Great Rick Flair. Whooooooooooooooooooooo
Jesus. I couldn't do one of Ric Flair's ad libs if I had 7 months to write it.
great stuff we never got in the NY-CT area until early eighties cable.
ERNIE LADD! 🙌🏾
No Question Mr TV announcer ....
Yes.
The big cat was one mean man RIP
Three legends
Before wrestling got so commercialized and when most people were watching on a home antenna. You might pick up 3 channels. Tuning in just to see Nature Boy.
LOVE THIS!!!
iam just speechless
this is the good ole days
I love how Ernie Ladd would always say. SHUT UP! to the crowd to get them pissed off!
my mom put me on to this a great posting
Big John Studd was a very nice humble man outside of the wresting ring
Studd in his 3" lifts lol
Doubt Studd was legit 6'10 Plus Ladd was 6'9
@@santosjerez1586 studd was 6-8
@@santosjerez1586 6'6.5" barefeet
Love these old promos, just thinking it looks like a bath robe commercial.
"No question, Mr. TV Announcer" lol.
Love This. The Real Deal best interview
Big John Studd was a legit 6/9 if not 6/10 so he was a true big man his chest for a man of his soze is amazing
RIP ladd and studd
great footage...kids wrestling today really need to take a look at how to cut & sell a interview
Nice!
Studd List when Big John came to town and top of the Studd List was Mulligan
Ladd sounds like Morgan Freeman. Lol!
HOLY SHIT
I said the exact same thing once.
Sounds like Morgan Freeman, look like Bill Withers. What a coincidence, Bill Withers song is Lean On Me, and Morgan Freeman starred in the movie of the same name.
Go Big Cat !
I actually remember this episode...
Flair could work the mike even back then. Promoters were drooling to make him NWA Champ.
ERNIE THE CAT LADD !
"Mr. TV announcer man"! LOl!
You *know* WCW going under had to be the worst thing that could have ever happened to Vince McMahon, cause then everyone would see all these guys that were around for the first couple Wrestlemanias were in Mid-Atlantic, Florida, Georgia, World Class, AWA, UWF, Memphis, Portland, Calgary, and whoever else I'm forgetting before they "began their careers" in the WWF.
In a twist I'd have sold it to Bischoff (who'd have been more at home because all he knew to do was use old WWF guys), but he'd have been dead broke in two years anyway with no Turner to bail him out.
THE BIG CAT ERNIE LADD!!!
Heads up. If you take your right palm & smack the right side of your television as hard as you possibly can the line in the screen will disappear.
Awesome miss those days!!! I’d rather watch these old films any day than to watch that junk they have now!!!
dig the music at the end
"mr. tv announcer" . you don't hear that name anymore lol
WOOOOOOOO...
Best wrestling EVER!!!!!
He cut a promo about somone full of liquor...i was DYING!
Ernie great promos cross between Grady Wilson and Fred Sandord.
"Clean up crew" Funny ass shit
Mr Tv announcer ....When John Studd came to town he brought the Studd List ..
Yes they definitely knew how to talk. Check out Austin Idol in almost ANY interview.
ERNIE!!!!!
ernie ladd is the best promo between these 3...yes i said it
Ladd was great at promos.
Back then, yes. Flair was getting his legs under him still. Flair was good compared to the likes of Steamboat, Wahoo, the Briscos, but Ladd was incredible. Flair became Flair later on in the mid 80's.
" C'mon Mr. Commentator, 'he's so great,...yik yik yik...and he's so brave....yak yak yak'...make gentlemans and atheletes like myself sick. Da masked bum No II, Dirty Rhodes, Andre the Gimp, Stumbleboat..SHUDDUP OUT DERE!!!!" Big Cat was a great one,if anyone knows why he didn't at least have a brief WWF title run in the early '80s. RIP Big Cat.
I always thought Ernie Ladd looked and sounded like Morgan Freeman.
I mean DAMN! I GET BORED after hearing roman reigns for about a minute, this is purely wrestling gold material that 2020s era never going to be
Your era of anything is pretty much the drizzl'n 💩's!!! 😂😂😂😂😂🥃🥃🥃🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Three all time greats....Flair became a face soon after this
Wooooooooo....
