- Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair. It is beneficial if you have limited mobility. This class is meant for seniors 65 + and this sequence is used in nursing homes and home hospice care - anyone can do it! Chair yoga incorporates not only full-body movement but also breath and basic meditation techniques. This class will assist you in building strength, functionality in your body, memory tests as well as deepen your connection with yourself.

I am 82. I recently visited my doctor for arthritis pain. she prescribed me some exercises that were on three pages of paper. I was unmotivated. then I found your videos! I am so grateful! I can't wait to show my doctor again.!

I'm 77 years old and have been sedentary most of my life except for walking in good weather. I'm very happy for finding this chair Yoga. The flowing movements make me feel so good! And I don't need to leave my house. I've never cared for fitness centers or crowded classes. This way is much more personal.

I'm only 43, but I have a brain tumor and had brain surgery 6 years ago. It's really taken a toll on me physically and mentally and disability has made it so I can't get through a regular class. My gait and balance issues are severe right now. It felt so good to get through this yoga sequence. Thank you for this yoga instruction. ❤

I love this chair yoga. It touches every part of my muscle I want to exercise, even my fingers. At 73, I really appreciate not having to go on my knees and still be able to stretch all my muscles.❤

I am 40, but I have had a stroke & I have tremors which cause some mobility issues. I used to love getting down on my mat & doing yoga. I came across this & thought yes! Sometimes I can get depressed when my body isn't able to do what I am used to. Thankful & grateful that I came across this!

I am 92 and domiciled in USA. I have been doing Yoga for 60 years. I learned in Bombay for 6 months from an Institute of Yoga. I can tell that you have imbibed very well and adopted for chair. Your 3 breath told me you have learned well.
I am 82 female with balance problems, vertigo, sciatic nerve problems and arthritis mostly in my hands and feet. At my Doctor appointment a few days ago my Doctor recommended chair exercises. I just did your session for the first time. I looked at a few others but yours was the best for guiding me in doing it at a level compatible with my abilities, with the assurance if I keep doing my part I will see improvement in all areas. I am a 72 year old man. Bunch of orthopedic problems courtesy of the Marines and pretty much a mess as far as being mobile. I stumbled across your video, and I am on my first chair yoga for restricted mobility. I must say, I have noticed a difference, the spine and knees are a little more flexible, and the overall wellness is going up. Thanks for your well presented program. Easy to follow. Kirstie, I am so grateful for your wonderful class! I'm 70 years old, have never practised any kind of sport, and have been diagnosed with prediabetes. It's imperative that I start moving and building some muscle. Your gentle exercises were surprisingly doable, and yet I'm sweating and feel all my muscles have stretched a bit. Hello, Kirstie - I'm so grateful I found you. Just finished this class for the first time and I'm very impressed with the exercises. I have never done any yoga, always stayed away from it because of my knee issues not being able to get up off the floor with ease, etc., and extend my body. This chair yoga class is perfect for me - I'm now 75 years old. I will do this class daily and then attempt to later "graduate" to your Level 2 with Core and Balancing. Thank you so much!

I have been blessed for 69 years my mom gave birth to me 60 years ago. I turned 69 in December 27th. of 2024, I have been doing sitting exercises for 3and haft months, I had a knee injury in 2021. from a winter ice storm . snd I'm waiting for a knee replacement come spring, I just happened to see your video and try something different. I also been taking Therapy for my hip from a job related accident in 2016. it's like that Alicia's keys song, I keep on falling 😊. and I I've been falling gor a long time, my ankle broke, wimp lash, three car accidents, and this . I'm a retired day care school teacher. so that's about it. You're dog is Handsome, we had a American Eskimo dog for a long time, I have a picture of him and his mom when my mom brought him home. gonna give it a try and let you know. 😊

However, I am currently visiting my 85 and 89 year old sisters who live together in the USA. I did the 20 minute routine this morning and subscribed them to your channel in the hope that they will be motivated to join me in exercising with you. My husband is in a wheelchair and isn’t able to stand. His mobility is very limited. I’m hoping that I can get him to do this with me.

I recently experienced a TIA stroke that affected my dominant left side. I'm doing the chair yoga and can feel my left side: shoulder, arm, side, hip and knee becoming more flexible each time I workout w/ you.
I humbly grateful that I was led to this video.
Before I was very healthy physically and did regular yoga This gives me hope that I'll be able to do full yoga again...

Hi Kirstie, just wanted to tell you how much I love your videos after wadeing through a good few. I'm 60 waiting for a knee replacement also need to loose some wait which I was finding hard because I can't walk because of my knees, sort of a catch 22, and getting discouraged because I used to be pretty athletic. My goal is to ride horses again and with your videos I feel my strength coming back. So thank you and keep them coming!

Just tried this for the first time today. I'm 61, and used to love to do yoga in my younger days. My mobility isn't quite what it was (bad knees), but I really enjoy this video at this stage in my life. I definitely felt some great stretches!

Marti; How has this been working for you? I teach Senior Seated Tai Chi which ignores the legs. When I saw this video I was interested in the leg work. Trying to find good safe movements for my students. Your comment makes me think I have found promising material.

I am in my 60's and this is a great video for people with mobility issues. Some senior videos go too fast but this is a reasonable pace. I have had serious back issues for decades and due to a surgery, partially numb as some nerves never recovered. Thank you very much.

WOW! I'm 67 and am recovering from knee injuries/inflammation. This is PERFECT! I've always enjoyed physical work my entire life and have been very frustrated with needing to limit myself. Thanks for this! I will be working on it every day.

Hi Kierstie. I am a seventy year old male finally coming out of surgical and medical issues. The multiple surgeries worked and the medical conditions are under control with medication. I was offered Chair Yoga through the VA Medical center here in St. Louis. Beth interviewed me and gave me a preparatory list for her class via Zoom. She recommended UA-cam and I found your video clip. Wow! Combining your video with a brief time on my elliptical is definitely going to be awesome. Yes, I remembered to subscribe. I'll be 76 in June. I've tried other yoga classes for seniors on youtube yet found the leaders annoying...not you! I love your kind, gentle approach and hope to make this part of every day in this earth suit! 🙂
When I can, I practise in the morning level 1 and level 2 at nigtht. I am 85 and always love doing workout- nowadays I am swimming twice a week and.... CHAIR YOGA!

After a back injury I’ve been very limited as to what I can do, and while some claim “easy exercises”, it genuinely isn’t. I’m so glad to have found this video. I was able to do all the exercises with little to no discomfort. I didn’t expect to get emotional at the end, but it was a much needed release. Thank you.

Thank you so very much. I am partially disabled use a walker and 65 years old. My son started yoga several years ago and recommended this class for me last week to help with mobility, strength and balance. I have done it three times this week. I love it!!

Thanks for this class. I am 66 and this is a great stretch and strength. I love the length of the video. Anything over 20 - 25 minutes I know I won't do. But this is perfect!
I am grateful for this class today. I broke my foot and have to stay off of it. I was able to do most of the class with a couple of mods. It feels great to do some kind of exercise. Thank you again!

I just found this video today and decided to give it a try. I will be 62 in August. I have degenerative disc disease, have had 4 back surgeries & 3 fusions, rods and screws placed and later removed because a screw broke, nerve damage, a pinched nerve in my lower back, arthritis, and fibromyalgia along with other health issues. Needless to say, these things have made exercising very difficult. I was looking for something I could actually do. I completed this class today and feel great!! Thank you for giving us something that is easy enough to complete; I really feel like I accomplished something huge!! Thank you!!
My first chair yoga class! I’ve been disabled since late 2019 due to neurological disease. Exercise is very difficult for me. This is so perfect! I’ll be back daily!

This was so good for me. My acupuncturist recommended chair yoga to me to gain more flexibility. I am 76 years old, seven years in cancer remission, and active outside. Never took formal yoga or exercise classes. Even though I am an active gardener and beekeeper I feel stiff all the time. This is definitely improving that for me. I plan to incorporate this into my daily routines. This is a wonderful video and enjoy doing this at home. Thank you Kierstie for a great program.

What a gift to find your approach to chair yoga that I was able to follow and feel positive about as it mirrors some Physical Therapy moves I recently learned after a knee replacement. So doable and you present at a good pace for the brain. Stay well and thanks.
