God....WHY can't we have songs like this anymore?
Thank God we at least have these videos to enjoy and reminisce!
I recommend the Pride of Lion's (Jim Peterik's, who co-wrote The Search Is Over, post Survivor band) songs: "Unfinished Heart", "Now", "Interrupted Melody", and "Everything That Money Can't Buy". Also, I recommend the Jimi Jamison solo songs: "Alive" and "Love You All Over the World" (both written/co-written by Peterik) and Jamison's Crossroads Moment album in general. Also, the Richard Marx song: "Always" co-written by the late Burt Bacharach.
The best music was already written. It's been on the decline 20 plus years.
Survivor "I can't hold back" is a banger too.
They did it already
Agree
Literally for me one of the most romantic power ballads of its era. Just loved Jimi Jamison's voice. Still so sad knowing he's no longer with us, ugh.😔
RIP Jimi, one of the best singers of the 80s
I didn't know Jimi Jamison passed away. That was 9 years ago. Also found out about Eddie Rabbit's death on this channel too.
May both RIP 🙏
Jay & Amber, you’ll love their "High on You"!!! Todays song - Jimi Jamison - lead vocals, written by Peterik and Sullivan.
Great band great singer gone too soon. Survivor were one of the 80's best!🙏
Oh thats me like much quite!!!
🥰🥰🥰
Love “High On You”
Maybe they'll love it. Maybe they won't. Let's give them the chance to react first.
Awesome!
Survivor is so overlooked.
Now do "High On You"
🤩
They are very underrated
Love the songs from this group. Takes me back to my teen years.
"High on You" and "Is This Love" are hits you haven't done yet. I love Jimi Jamison's voice!! "The Search Is Over" is my fave from Survivor though.
This one gets me every time. Even in an interview, Jim Peterik said that there wasn't a dry eye in the house when this one was being recorded. Jimi put so much emotion into it, especially that last line. He is so missed in the music world. Thanks for reacting to this one. Takes me back to childhood.
I saw an interview with Jim Peiterik where he says that, and he said that's the kind of emotion that Jimi's voice produces! Survivor guitarist Sullivan said that Jimi came to the band to save them, because they had a contract and a new album that they had to release and without a new vocalist that would not have been possible, they tried many singers, but Jimi Jimi spelled them with his voice! and not only them, to us too,❤
Their song "I See You In Everyone" is probably my favorite
Beautiful song! One of the best male vocals from the 80's. Glad you both liked this one!
One of my favorite groups from the 80'S
It was a punch in the gut when Jimi Jamison passed in 2014. Voice of the 80s. So many hits from them.
One of the greatest soft rock songs ever recorded.
I've always loved this song!!
When they played this song live, the audience was singing every word with him. It's such a great song.
Is This Love is spectacular. By far my favourite song from Survivor.
One of my favorites Played it at my wedding reception 15 yrs ago
Jimi Jamison had such an amazing voice! High on You by Survivor, that's the one you have to hear next!
Great Song 80s Classic
This is one of my fav rock ballads. The singer had that powerful voice that can carry solid rock or a ballad, sort of like a Steve Perry. Very sweet and well played and written song and sung beautifully. Thanks for including it.
My first boyfriend had sat next to me all semester in geometry class, then finally worked up the nerve to ask me out (actually had his best friend as a go-between 😋) towards the end of the school year. He always dedicated this song to me whenever we had a dance at school. I don't think I've heard it since then. Wow, thanks for the memories!
Rest in Peace Survivor lead singer Jimi Jamison, You left us way too soon.
Everyone seems to be saying "Do 'High on You'", but I'm throwing in the song "I Can't Hold Back". Great song!
I'll go for "Across the Miles"
Agree I love I can't hold Back
Next Asia song: either "Don't Cry" or "The Smile Has Left Your Eyes"
Love this song.
Definitely also recommend "I Can't Hold Back" and "Is This Love" by Survivor! Super energetic and catchy
This brings me back to the 1980s......good times.
Survivor's "Vital Signs" album is one of my favorite albums ever. I love almost every song on it. It's a shame that most of them didn't get released as singles as I think they could've easily had more big hits from the album. You've got to at least do every hit that they did have from it though, and hopefully some that weren't singles as well. Jimi Jamison is also one of my all time favorite vocalists. He always gets overlooked when it comes to top singers, but he ranks up there with Steve Perry in my opinion.
You said everything I was thinking.
I sort of agree but I like Jimi better than Steve Perry
@@rhondashinn4952
Totally agree. I think that on that album "Broken promises" is a masterpiece.
Great tune! I would also check out High on You by Survivor and Don’t Cry by Asia
Anything by Asia would be great!
Love Don't Cry😊
Teenage me wore this cassette out.
Love love love this song.
Two more AMAZING power ballads from Loverboy - This Could be The Night - and Mike Reno does a duet with Ann Wilson from Heart - Almost Paradise (from Footloose). Both well worth a listen.
I have suggested these songs too!
I met my boyfriend when I was 17. i was a teenaged sex worker and he was a street thug. He took me off the stroll and gave me back some autonomy. Violence tore us apart, though.. we lasted about a year. Long story short, I'd never found anyone that fit my heart. Nobody was real or true to me. 27 years later, he contacted me on FB, and despite myself, I responded. You gotta answer the call when love comes knocking. 6 years later, we're still together, lotsa growth, change and love exchanged. I don't know that we're going to last forever, but I've never loved anyone else. Just this guy.. Mike. The song always meant something to me, but it's only the last couple years I've known why. xo
This was a huge hit for Survivor, and this video got many plays on MTV. The album Vital Signs included this song and 3 of their other hits. This song was always my favorite song of theirs, and really shows off the great voice of Jimi Jamison. Its too bad he is no longer with us, but he left a legacy that will never be forgotten. Great reaction as always!
Amazing how fast all the words were back. Haven't thought of this song in years... I knew every word.... ahhh teen age love....
A lot of ‘80’s songs have a short shelf life. But “The Search is Over” has staying power. Like others, I haven’t heard this in years and yet it was like we had never parted company.
Loved this song - glad you found it! Still cry at end - yep lol
Check out "I See You in Everyone," for one that will also get you going on the storyline and Jimi Jamison's impassioned vocals. For another emotion-filled story-song of theirs, but with their former lead singer, Dave Bickler, check out, "Runway Lights." You'll love the drums and guitar. Both have the build moments for Jay and the heart-tugging lyrics for Amber. 😊
One of my favorite Survivor songs. My other favorites are "High on You" and "Is This Love". And of course "Eye of the Tiger".
Jimi Jamison: tremendous vocals gone too soon. 😢 RIP
So many great Survivor songs! You guys should def do more of them!
One my favorite songs ❤
Not One bad song from this Group period!!!! Eye of the Tiger and High on you next
Different singers though....Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison
You have no idea how iconic this piece was back in the 80s!
Incidentally, this was the theme for a TV movie in 1986 called "Young Again" with a very young Keanu Reeves!
Love their stuff! They’re more than just eye of the tiger
They haven't reacted to that one though.
I think Eye of the Tiger is not their best song at all, I would rate it low in their catalogue
The beautiful voice of Jimi Jamison ❤ best power ballad of the eighties
Oh I love this song! it's been so long since I have heard it. Jimi's voice is so powerful! RIP.
When I'm at home or in the car and this song comes on i get tears😢 in my eyes cause my search was over almost 30 years now as i found my soul mate that long ago and be with her till our time ends. Even in High School this song would get to me and the Army when i dated for 5 months while in then West Germany before the relationship ended. Such an awesome song love it
Great song!! Haven’t heard it in years!!! Makes me think of my love. ❤
Alright my babies.... I am so fortunate to have seen this band 4 times ‼️ Your reactions to this video is good .... From the climatics, to the piano ending awwe.💯🔥🎼🎶🎤🎹🎸🤘🏻😎👍🏼
Jimi on stage was something to experience. His voice was so powerful he didn"t need a microphone.
I was in middle school and high school in the 80’s. You guys react to the best songs…takes me back to the greatest decade of music ever! Thanks!
💯% 🥰🥰🥰
I've always been a fan of Survivor and Jimi Jamison! "Desperate Dreams", "Didn't Know It Was Love", "Broken Promises" and "Is This Love" are amazing as well 🙂
Jimi was lined up to join Deep Purple around 89/90 (Joe Lynn Turner actually got the gig)....Jimi had it first but his management had some rather dodgy mafia type connections and wouldn't let him do it.
“Is this Love” is one of their best!
Omg ... i haven't listened to this in eons! Brought back great memories of wearing out this cassette!
'Is This Love' and First Night' are also Survivor songs I think you would both like.
Love it how two youngsters hold such high regard for music that can last for an eternity.
this song my wife played for me at our wedding in 1989 and the song I played for her was Taylor Dayne's I Will Always Love You.
I love Survivor! You should also listen to their song I Can't Hold Back ❤
they have done that one
Wow I had totally forgotten about this song and that Survivor sang it! Good stuff!!
These guys have great songs!! Even ones that aren’t hits are really good!! Must listen to Ever Since the World Began, A Man I’ll Never Be, Is This Love, Moment of Truth, Rebel Girl, Jackie Don’t Go, Caught In the Game, Poor Man’s Son, American Heartbeat, Somewhere In America, Summer Nights and Chevy Nights
I so love this song..❤ Thanks for reacting... If i may suggest for the next "Survivor" song that you might react to, i recommend "High On You, Is This Love, American Heartbeat, Rebel Son, The Moment Of Truth, or Didn't Know It Was Love"..❤
High on You and Is This Love are amazing also. You can't go wrong with any Survivor song in the '80s! Jimi Jamison was amazing and an underrated vocalist. If you ever want to do any of their stuff live, alll of their hits live from Japan 1985, you'll see what a great live band they were also.
He also did the Baywatch song and the song at the end of the Stallone Lock Up movie.
I’m so glad you did this one! No one ever does and it’s absolutely one of my favorite love ballads from this era! I was in junior high and knew not a dang thing about love, but it got me in my feels anyway! 🥰
Survivor will forever be linked to Rocky. What a great association to be linked to.
Jimi has a voice so spectacular!🤩
Another one you should really check out by Survivor that I haven’t seen mentioned is ‘Man Against the World.’ It was written for a Rocky movie (Rocky 4) as were Eye of the Tiger and Burning Heart, but it doesn’t get the recognition the other two get and I think it’s Jimi’s best vocal performance; it’s really good. It was ultimately not used in Rocky 4, but was released on Survivor’s next album.
The first time I heard this song, I balled my eyes out. Simple beautiful.
Went to see REO Survivor at Market Square Arena Indianapolis with my mother what a memory.
Love this song, one of my favorite bands. Love you guys. Keep the videos coming.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Jimi's voice is amazing. I already liked 16 of their songs but his voice made me like another 14 songs
Love Survivor listened to this song so many times. Jimi Jamison, rest in eternal peace, missed and loved.
I'm glad you liked this. Thank you for doing this today. This was my wife and my song at our wedding (along with everlasting love by Howard Jones). This brought me to tears. She had to move in with her sister to take care of her and I miss her. Two more days til I see her again for the weekend.
The album Vital Signs is all killer and no filler. You need to listen to this album by them
Vital signs is the perfect album. 10 Great tracks
When Seconds Count and Too Hot too Sleep are great albums as well.
@@wildcatvxa2372Well, 9 originally, but 10 if you have the Rock Candy reissue which includes The Moment of Truth.
Totally agree. I think that on that album "Broken promises" is a masterpiece.
The brilliance of Jimi Jamison and Survivor. The last time I saw them live they were opening for Boston and it was a pleasure to see two of my favorite rock vocalists on the same night in Jimi and Brad Delp. so many great songs from Survivor!
Song absolutely fits my current place in life. 30+ years ago I met the perfect person for me, we were best friends, nothing we couldn't talk about and had similar interests. We became more than friends on 2 occasions, but never actually committed to one another. Life wound up taking us on different paths, but I felt like she was always the one that got away. We lost contact for 30 years. Only last year did we find each other through the classmates app. I registered to find old friends when I was going through a divorce. We started talking again and it was like we had not missed a day, it felt so comfortable and right. We live on the far sides of the country, but I am moving back down south in Dec. We agreed and made plans for me to visit in the Spring. We have a date planned (Wish us luck!). We've been subtly flirting as I think we are just seeing how things go slowly, as we transition from old lives. I feel as though God has brought us back together after all this time. We both have had difficult lives full of nonsense and drama. I think we needed to go through some things to make us really appreciate what we had in each other. I believe it was God's plan for us to be together, we just took the long way around. Thank you for playing this song from our youth, it's what I needed today!
This song from Survivor was the wedding song for my Aunt Sheila when she got married in 1987 to my now Uncle Stephen.
All these Epic Power Ballads from the early to mid 80s were really something else! Now just imagine being a teenager through all of this!!!! It was just unbelievable!
Jay and Amber, I've been watching you from the beginning. I have been waiting for you to review this song and I'm so glad that Jay likes it. My take is that it is about a man recognizing that everything he wants was right beside him all along; he just had to stop looking every where else for her. Your next Survivor song should be "Ever Since the World Began". Honorable mention: "High on You", "I Can't Hold Back", and "Poor Man's Son".
They already did "I Can't Hold Back."
I saw these guys when I was about 14 in Rhode Island.....they were fantastic.
Great one, guys! Survivor had tons of great songs. Theywere unsung heroes of melodic rock back in the 80's,and deserved MUCH greater success. The entire Vital Signs album is a banger! In particular..I Can't Hold Back (1st song). But again it's all fab! also-- Summer Nights, Poor Man's Son are killers. Dive in! T
"Ever Since the World Began" by Survivor. Extremely under-rated band.
That song is the soundtrack of the Sylvester Stallone movie, Lock Up, Jimi made some arrangements for it for the movie. You can search for it on UA-cam!
“High On You” is a GREAT Survivor song.
Yes, please do more Asia. I suggest "You are the stranger", " Forgive Me", "Wherever you are", and "sole survivor".
One of the best power ballads ever. Survivor is amazing. I've always loved this song
Survivor’s most underrated song “Didn’t Know It Was Love” is a COMPLETE BANGER!!!
Vital Signs was such a fantastic album! Jimi had a great voice!! RIP JIMI. ❤🙏
This is my favorite Survivor song, bar none.
for your next Survivor song, I recommend "High On You"
I think you’ll both like it because it has the best of both worlds, being a high energy ballad.
It also has sort of a Journey vibe.
Please consider Mariah Carey’s debut, "Vision of Love" for a female Friday.
I know she’ll be worth it.
I love everything Jimi sings my favorite is I See \you In Everyone. But like I said if Jimi sings it I love it
This song played as the first dance in my wedding reception.
I love Survivor! The whole album was great. If you want something to get you out of your seat, I'd love to see you react to "Don't disturb this groove" by the system. There is no way you'll be able to stay in your chairs. Such a great 80's jam!
I’ve loved this song for a few decades now. It’s one of my favorites of theirs.
"Is this Love" and "I Can't Hold Back"....god Survivor is incredible!
This was mine and my boyfriend's song back in 1985 and 1986. We got engaged and found out weeks later he had cancer and he passed one year later. I still love that beautiful 21 year old man. Forever young. Always have and always will.
Jimi Jamison has one of the best voices of the 80's.
One of my favorite Survivor song. Please try to react to their song Ever since the world began. Slower song but I love the words.
Others, High on you, Is this love, I can’t hold back, Burning heart from Rocky 4.
I'm so surprised that you got back to Survivor they have so many great songs especially with Jimi Jamison a true southern gentleman form Memphis Tennessee. He makes you feel so many emotions with his expressive tone . He loved to sing and he loved his fans.
This song and Amanda from Boston, brings me back to my early teenage years, such great memories
I've always loved this song; such a soaring power ballad! :D
My favorite Survivor song, Jimi kills it as always. RIP my friend.
