As others have mentioned, this song was used during the training montage in "Rocky IV", so Amber is right on in her assessment. Survivor is best known for singing "Eye of the Tiger", the theme song for Rocky III.
Eye of the Tiger was originally sung by Dave Bickler but he had to have throat surgery so they hired Jimi Jamison and he continued to sing it and every song until he left the band and returned a few times before he went solo amazing vocalist
I'm sure everyone and their uncle is gong to suggest "Eye of the Tiger", but Survivor had a slew of terrific songs in the 80s: "I Can't Hold Back", "High On You", "The Search is Over", and my personal favorite "Is This Love". Fun fact: Jim Peterik, the keyboardist, was also the lead singer for a 70s one-hit wonder called The Ides of March. Amber, you would absolutely go nuts for "Vehicle", as it's horns are insane!
The lead singers name is Jimi Jamison , Jim Peterik is the keyboard player and wrote many hit songs, very talented man, but you need to listen to more survivor with Jimi Jamison as lead singer he puts everything into his singing.
Every song you named is better than this one. This is about the 20th time they have done a new group with about their 10th best song. 2nd on Vehicle, outstanding hit.
Survivor is a good solid rock band who made some great records but weren't flashy just solid hitmakers-"Is This Love", "The Search Is Over", "I Can't Hold Back"-solid staples on MTV in the 80's but one of those bands it seems people take for granted. You won't be disappointed in Survivor.
Survivor was a hit machine; nobody wrote an epic 80's anthem like they did. Next Stops: "Eye of the Tiger" "I Can't Hold Back" "Is This Love" "High on You" "The Search is Over"
Survivor is from Chicago in the late 70’s. Their big break when Sly Stallone chose them to write the theme for Rocky 3 Eye of the Tiger. Burning Hearts is from Rocky 4. Rocky is facing Russian Champion Ivan Drago and thus the references to the Cold War. Other Survivor songs include: High on You I Can’t Hold Back Search is Over Is this Love First Night Vital Signs is their biggest album. It has 10 great tunes. It can be listened to from start to finish and you will love all the songs. Perfect Album
The Search Is Over - Survivor. This is survivors big ballad that the Amber Sway would definitely like😀. Also Jimmy Jamison‘s lead vocals and vocal range are phenomenal and really highlighted on this song.
You have only just scratched the surface with Survivor, one of my favorite 80's bands!! You must listen to "I Can't Hold Back", "High on You" and the "Search is Over"!! The lead singer, Jimi, had an incredible voice and was also gorgeous, in my opinion. RIP, we lost him much to young.
This song gives me the urge to run through the streets of Philadelphia, screaming ‘Adrienne!’ Survivor is a underrated band that gave us TONS of inspirational times back in the 80’s….great reaction guys.
Three of the first four Rocky movies had songs that have often been used to pump up sports teams: The original had "Gonna Fly Now" and "Going the Distance"--both are essentially instrumentals, while the third Rocky had "Eye of the Tiger" and the fourth had this song--as well as James Brown's "Living in America"
“ The search is over “ one of the best love songs ever written…yes “ Eye of the Tiger” tes “ I can’t hold back “ yes “ High on You “ …..” Eye and Burning heart were both written for Rocky movies……
High On You- Survivor. Another great upbeat song with the 80s sound that confidently both of y’all will like! Love to see you react to this awesome tune!! Survivor definitely has a small rabbit hole of 80s bangers that you guys can react to!
Jimi had one of the greatest voices ever. It's too bad people only listen to the hits because almost all the songs on the albums Too Hot to Sleep and When Seconds Count are fantastic plus his personal albums.. He was a great loss to the rock music world. He is being inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame October 12th, 2023; Survivor and Jimi should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I listen to his singing everyday.❤
This song was used in the movie Rocky 4, when ever you listen to this song you can't help but nodd your head to the beat. This is a definite awesome work out song for sure, will get you pumped & motivated.😎🎵🎸👌 Check out Eye Of The Tiger, I Can't Hold Back, Is This Love & I'm Not That Man Anymore. 😎👌🎶
Jimi was one of the greatest vocalists I ever heard. His passion for the songs he sang was like none other and I believe he would of sang for free, that’s how much he loved it. Wonderful video reaction and if I could suggest a group, I would love to see your reaction to The Cutting Crews, “I just died in your arms tonight”. ❤️
Their biggest song is Eye of the Tiger, with a different lead singer, Dave Bickler. Most of their success happened with lead singer Jimi Jamison with songs such as I Can't Hold Back, High on You, Broken Promises, Is This Love, When Seconds Count, and Desperate Dreams. I saw them once at a concert where they shared equal billing with another excellent band, REO Speedwagon.
This is the band that gave us The Eye of The Tiger the theme from Rocky 3. This song was the theme to Rocky 4. Great workout songs. Great movies also. The first Rocky movie was nominated for several Oscar's.
Survivor is probably my favorite band from the 1980's. They had a nice string of hits plus the fantastic "Vital Signs" album. Every song on that album is great. Other great songs and hits from Survivor are "Poor Man's Son", "I Can't Hold Back", "High on You", "The Search Is Over", "First Night", "Is This Love", "Everlasting", "Broken Promises", "Popular Girl", and "I See You In Everyone."
I feel like you guys haven’t done any Journey. Anything from them is amazing. Steve Perry had the most amazing voice and he really made the 80’s music sound terrific with their music.
They did Wheel in the Sky... But you ain't wrong! Amber seems to have a thing for the Motown fellas: Smokey Robinson, Sam Cook... Journey's "Homemade Love" from the old days outs Steve Perry as having had a massive crooner influence, and hits some high notes that will blow Jay out from under his headphones! I like studio version better.
@@berdy5064 Agree. I usually prefer studio recordings with Journey but this one is good. Replacement drummer does a fabulous version of it live after Perry's DEPARTURE some years later... Pun intended.
Just watched this and just really heard Amber say you guys had 3 children. A little while ago I commented that I was glad you two grew as a couple and didn't realize you were for maybe years. God bless. I always listen to your reactions. Peace.
Yay! Look who guys guys discovered! Amber - The Search is Over is one of my all time favorite ballads. Will melt you out of your chair. But Jordan will love it too. And Eye of The Tiger is just a rock classic - and a MUST listen.
It's crazy because I could've sworn that you had listened to Eye Of The Tiger before. That one is definitely worth listening to, along with "High On You", and "The Search Is Over".
Got to wstch Rocky all of them. Also from Survivor “I Can’t hold back”, “High on you”, “Is this love” and the mega known song for training “Eye of the tiger”.
I loved Survivor soooooo much!!!! Jimi Jamison was such a fabulous singer!! And quite the looker, I must say! You need to lister to many more of their songs...especially High on you!. Their keyboard player was soooo magnificent !! I miss you Jimi! We lost Jimi Jameson wayyyyyyy tooooo soon!!😰 They were a very big band! There were so many great bands, singers, etc, esp. in the 70’s, 80’s. There’s no way you’ll ever find them all! Here’s one! My very fav. For decades was Henry Lee Summer. My family listened to him over and over.... He opened for 38 Special in Pa. in 1989. He never got really big, like he should have, because he got married soon after, and had 4 kids, and he didn’t like to leave his family (so honorable). He wrote All of his own music, but of course a band had to play the other parts in concert. He had more energy than anyone I’ve ever witnessed. He always danced and jumped in his songs. And considering He was about 6’6”, and weighed about 140. It made it look like ginormous jumps! He had really long, curly hair, and always wore Chuck Taylor Converse( He even wrote a song about them! Tho they weren’t my 2 favorite songs, you may have heard”Wish I had a girl who walked like that” and “Hey Baby”. He lived next door to Peyton Manning, and was offered a full ride basketball scholarship. What in heck am I talking about him for, when Survivors ion??? Guess you got me thinking about bands you have not hear of. Anyway. Loved Jimi Jamison, and Survivor! Check out Henry Lee Summer some day.❤Love you guys!
They looked to be a one-hit wonder in 1982 with "Eye of the Tiger," but came back with a number of hits in the mid-80's, including this song. However, they faded by the late 80's and have pretty much stayed under the radar since.
Yes! As soon as I saw the title, I clicked on it so fast. I was like "Survivor! I suggested them just the other day!" lol I love this song too, from the movie Rocky IV. "Eye of the Tiger" is from Rocky III and "I Can't Hold Back" is my favorite Survivor song.
So, it’s funny but refreshing that they had not heard of Survivor or Burning Heart before but that’s cool. When I watch these, and I’ve started watching them more, it’s like I’m hearing these songs for the first time also and thinking, “this must’ve been how I reacted when I first heard it too!” So cool you too!
Amber mentions the lead singer's voice. He took over the lead for Survivor. It was Jimi Jamison who we lost in 2014. But if you really want to hear hos vocals Amber check out The Search is Over. He really shows off his voice.
This is one of my favorites by them! Another one you need to listen to is "Is This Love?" The vocals on it are so angelic. Check it out! I'm honestly surprised you haven't heard of and/or done "Eye of the Tiger" yet. It's their most well known song. Eye of the Tiger was written for Rocky III, and Burning Heart was written for Rocky IV. I love both, and, of course, I think you're required by law to love Eye of the Tiger. But, to be perfectly honest, I think Burning Heart is more epic. The chorus isn't as catchy as Eye of the Tiger, but the vocal styling and the Cold War themed lyrics are just super cool.
Jimmy Jamison was such a gorgeous powerful singer! But he had soooo many superb songs!...High on You, I Cant Hold Back,... some of his really more fantastic songs, as mentioned by others below. I was broken hearted when he passed away so young😢. Please, please listen to his even greater songs. Some people called him the King!♥️
Okay I clicked VERY fast when I saw this reaction because I freaking LOVE Survivor. This song is actually from the movie Rocky IV with Sylvester Stallone, fun fact. You guys might know their most popular song Eye of The Tiger but I also love I Cant Hold Back and The Search is Over (my mom's all time fave song by them). Gotta react to those two songs for sure.
The lead singer is Jimi Jamison. While heading to Memphis his mother gave birth to him in Mississippi. The next day they continued to Memphis. Rest in peace Jimi.
Shades of Elvis Presley, also born in Mississippi and moved to Memphis as a child. Too bad he died of a stroke while he was high on meth. So much for being a survivor.
For Female Friday: Bette Midler - ‘From a Distance’ Ronnie Spector - ‘Be My Baby’ Toni Braxton - ‘Un-Break My Heart’ Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ Other notables: Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’ Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’ Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’ Dan Fogelberg - ‘Same Old Lang Syne’ Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father’
🥊 This song was created to be a training song for Rocky in Rocky IV. He is in Siberia at Christmas training for a fight against the man who killed his friend. This represents his struggle and drive, but also the EAST (Russia-Ivan Drago) vs. WEST (USA-Rocky). This song/movie was made in the 80s during the Cold War. It will always be my favorite movie and the soundtrack is incredible!
Both vocalists of the band Survivor had killer voices. Original lead vocalist was a guy named Dave Bickler Lead vocalist after him was even better a guy named Jimi Jamison
Singer Jimi Jamison has a natural, smooth voice. From Survivor, check out Broken Promises, The Search Is Over, High On You, I See You In Everyone, Is This Love
This song sounds like a sports anthem because it was used as the theme song for the Rocky IV movie. They did the song for Rocky III "Eye of the Tiger" and it did so well they wanted to try and recreate the popularity by having them do the theme for IV.
They had a great career in the 80's with a lot of hits. Had some big hits on movie soundtracks! The longevity wasn't there. They lasted a decade where some bands are 3 or 4 or 5. Then the singer passed and that was it. Loved them so much! As a teen in the 80's, I was a huge fan. Made out with girls to their songs more than any other band except maybe Journey or Chicago
Yes,LOTS of hits by this awesome band. You may have already heard Eye of the Tiger. It is very popular and I'm sure you've heard it at the sporting events.
To me, this song is about pushing oneself until personal goals are met. Specifically...physical fitness, weightloss, endurance and stamina. These are the very things, I'm closer to achieving with everything I do to stay in shape and will long after I've reached my goals. I hadn't heard this song since I was a kid and then one night during a season 4 episode of Cobra Kai, it played during a Johnny Lawrence montage while he was exercising. I thought to myself: "Oh My God... I know this, I love this song!!!"
Jimmy Jameson lead singer, though not on their hit “Eye of the Tiger” for their hits on 80s. Saw them in concert as well, friend got us backstage, met the band. Oh the crazy 80s!! 😆
Dave Bickler was the original lead vocalist. He was replaced by Jameson, who died of a stroke in 2014 while he was high on meth. So much for being a survivor.
I enjoy watching videos like this! This has been a recurring song for me throughout my life. Good choice. Good choice. Wish there was more burning heart reaction videos
Wow….never knew this was by Survivor! I only know Eye of the Tiger by them. If I heard this on the radio, I would assume it was Journey. It sure is totally in Journey’s wheelhouse….you two MUST listen to EYE of the TIGER by Survivor. That will definitely pump you up!
I'm surprised we can still play this wow Good song and true buds My thing is not many young ones will listen to this I hope so I don't want no one to fight but I believe each country needs to protect their county
You would definitely know of Survivor if you’ve ever seen the movie, “Rocky”! The most famous Survivor song was, “Eye Of The Tiger”, which was the theme song for Rocky, and I believe this song was in the movie as well.
I've been playing 'I Can't Hold Back' a lot recently after being reminded of it whilst watching Paul Blart - Mall Cop. Great track 😊 The Rocky IV soundtrack is awesome of course though, and featuring two of Survivors biggest tracks including this one was definitely a large reason for this
The lead singers name in this song is Jimi Jamison. He was with them from 1984 to 1989. He has an AMAZING VOICE. If you want to see amazing videos of his live performances look up First Night, The search is Over, I cant hold back, High on You, I see you in Everyone, Caught in the Game and Eye of the Tiger all from Live in Japan 1985. He sounded BETTER than the record and it is truly live. Do yourself a favor and watch High on You and I can't hold back first.....his VOCAL RANGE is STUNNING!!
Yes, everyone will suggest the most well-known and well played song by Survivor, Eye of the Tiger. Eventually you’ll get to most of the the bands and the artists that all of us out here are rooting for. But this band is one you just didn’t know that you already knew.
Jimi Jameson was the second lead vocalist for this band. The first, Dave Bickler, had to leave the band after developing polyps on his vocal cords. Jameson replaced him in the band after their 4th album. This was also their second song for a "Rocky" movie. The first was for "Rocky III", "Eye of the Tiger". Dave Bickler was the lead singer for that song and album, which was their third album. The easiest way to tell who is lead vocalist is that Dave Bickler wears a beret in the videos.
Rob immediately said “80’s!” That so awesome seeing you guys be able to pick out the sounds as you keep listening more and more to all these songs, lol. LOLA - Kinks
Survivor is awesome. They were the default band for a bunch of Sylvester Stallone movies. In addition to their biggest hit, “Eye of the Tiger”, they killed it with so many great songs. My favorite, tho little known, is “man against the world”. “I can’t hold back”, “the search is over” also great. Also, this is the theme from “Rocky IV”
Great job! Survivor had some great songs and I had the pleasure of seeing them live in the 80s. If you have not yet checked out Mister Mister, that might be a rabbit hole from the 80s for you and I would suggest Kyrie to get you started. Amazing vocals and instrumentation.
Right away, you say, "80s", and my response is 80s Soundtrack... a genre in itself. I was a boxer as a kid, and yes, Amber, this was "pump up music" during training. Lol... Great reaction, as always! Thanks again for sharing this journey with us.
Yes! If you got pumped by this one you'll really get fired up about Eye Of The Tiger. One of the biggest hits of the 80s. Theme song from Rocky III
Thanks
The best part of Rocky IV was his Lamborghini.
Uh, it is not used in the training montage. You hear it when they first get to Russia.
I'm sure everyone and their uncle is gong to suggest "Eye of the Tiger", but Survivor had a slew of terrific songs in the 80s: "I Can't Hold Back", "High On You", "The Search is Over", and my personal favorite "Is This Love". RIP Jimi. Great singer.
And Desperate dreams. Poor man's son rocks also.
Love Jimi Jamison even though we lost him Sept. 1, 2014 he has been greatly missed but we still have his songs
Jimi was one of the most underrated singers.
Their song, "Eye of the Tiger" was one of the biggest hits of the'80's, and a must listen.
legendary song
The singer is Jimi Jamison. Hes from Memphis. Very loved and we all have followed him since the 70s. Amazing voice. We miss him dearly.

@@michaelproulx5795 agreed
@@michaelproulx5795 Not live it isn't. He couldn't even sing this live.
Plus some other songs, Broken Promises, Man against the world, Across the miles, Didnt know it was love, Keep it right here, Desprete Dreams
A couple more by this band to check out: "The Search is Over" and "I Can't Hold Back". Two classic 80's "ballads"
Most definitely!!!
Agreed! !!

Therefore making Jay right when he said a fight between two countries, actually two boxers from different countries.
Jimi Jamison was from Memphis a very down to earth person .
Drago: “I will break you”
Rocky: “Go for it”
Classic!
It was actually "I must break you."
The Search Is Over - Survivor. This is survivors big ballad that the Amber Sway would definitely like😀. Also Jimmy Jamison‘s lead vocals and vocal range are phenomenal and really highlighted on this song.

SEARCH IS OVER OTRA OBRA MAESTRA DE SURVIVOR. THIS IS LOVE.
I love how Rob shouts "80's" as soon as he detects that distinct iconic 80's snare drum 😄
This is the stuff I grew up listening to ever since I was three year's old I'm 45 now
The lead singer is Jimi Jamison.
The search is over is a great song , can’t let you go , in good faith all good songs
For Female Friday:
Bette Midler - ‘From a Distance’
Ronnie Spector - ‘Be My Baby’
Toni Braxton - ‘Un-Break My Heart’
Roberta Flack - ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’
Other notables:
Christopher Cross - ‘Sailing,’
Kayne Brown - ‘Worship You,’
Kool and The Gang - ‘Celebration,’
Dan Fogelberg - ‘Same Old Lang Syne’
Luther Vandross - ‘Dance With My Father’
They were very, very good and several big hits. "High On You" is my favorite. "Can't Hold Back" is my second-favorite.
I love Survivor! You should check out The Search is Over, it's one of their best! I Can't Hold Back is great too.
You just hit the Rocky 4 music. Lots of great songs in that movie.
It will always be my favorite movie and the soundtrack is incredible!
imagine the movie and song coming out new again
Jimi was such a treasure for Memphis and a great dude indeed… RIP JJ
👍🎶🎸
Both vocalists of the band Survivor had killer voices.
Original lead vocalist was a guy named Dave Bickler
Lead vocalist after him was even better a guy named Jimi Jamison
Jamison had a _great_ voice. He sung with such ease, never straining himself.
I'm telling you the search is over will have you weeping it's such a sweet song
My favorites of survivor are" the search is over" and" I can't hold back "..love survivor....
This is from Rocky IV Jimi Jameson was one of the most underrated vocalists in Rock history.
"Didn't Know It Was Love", and "I See You In Everyone" are just two of many great ones from them.
So many GREAT SONGS. Explore them guys..
This is from Rocky 4! USA vs USSR
Survivor was the first concert I ever saw back in the 80s. Their entire Vital Signs album is awesome.
The lead singer Jimi Jamison also wrote and sung the opening.theme to the Baywatch TV show
They had a great career in the 80's with a lot of hits.
“Eye of the Tiger” is an iconic Survivor song
They had great Love Songs. Search is over, Ever since the World began, I never stopped loving you…..
Yes,LOTS of hits by this awesome band. You may have already heard Eye of the Tiger. It is very popular and I'm sure you've heard it at the sporting events.
'High on you' and 'I can't hold back' are awesome too.
Their song The Search Is Over is one of the best Yacht Rock songs of the 80s.
It’s NOT yacht rock it’s a power ballad!!!
@@David_Theisen Ballad is not a genre of music. It refers to the tempo of a song. Yacht Rock is the specific genre of this Pop song.
I love that you both identified the song as something good for athletic competition, when their songs are in some of the greatest sports movies ever!
Love this group! So many awesome songs!
Rocky III
I've been playing 'I Can't Hold Back' a lot recently after being reminded of it whilst watching Paul Blart - Mall Cop. Great track 😊
The Rocky IV soundtrack is awesome of course though, and featuring two of Survivors biggest tracks including this one was definitely a large reason for this
The lead singers name in this song is Jimi Jamison.
I totally agree Kerry Bartley, Jimi brought them to another level.
I almost forgot one of their best....BROKEN PROMISES!!!
@@kerrybartley2528 It's one of my favorites
A fantastic, powerful voice, a great peace of music 🎼🎼🎸🎸
Yes, everyone will suggest the most well-known and well played song by Survivor, Eye of the Tiger. Eventually you’ll get to most of the the bands and the artists that all of us out here are rooting for. But this band is one you just didn’t know that you already knew.
I love your reaction to the the beat!!!!!
This is my favorite survivor song !!!!!!
Love you all !!!!!
Jameson died of a stroke while he was high on meth. So much for being a survivor.
Other than the 2 singers had completely different singing voices, they looked completely different from eachother too. That should suffice. 😊
Ahh survivor the one band mama hears loud in the kitchen, so you showily roll your eyes. But as soon as mama is out of view you sing-along 😆
“The Moment of Truth” from The Karate Kid is one of their best songs along with “Eye of the Tiger” from Rocky III.
From the "Rocky VI" soundtrack. Another good one off that soundtrack is "No Easy way out" by Robert Tepper
Please, try Survivor's balads "Man against the world", "The search is over", "Ever since the world began", and "High on you"
Another vote for “Ever Since the World Began”
Rob immediately said “80’s!” That so awesome seeing you guys be able to pick out the sounds as you keep listening more and more to all these songs, lol. LOLA - Kinks
Survivor is awesome. They were the default band for a bunch of Sylvester Stallone movies. In addition to their biggest hit, “Eye of the Tiger”, they killed it with so many great songs. My favorite, tho little known, is “man against the world”. “I can’t hold back”, “the search is over” also great.
Also, this is the theme from “Rocky IV”
Indeed, this song was playing in Rocky 4 when he landed in Russia to train before his big fight against Dolph Lundgren to avenge Apollo's death
"High on you" should be your next listen from Survivor (imho) I feel like everyone has already heard "Eye of the Tiger" by them.
The search is over is a beautiful song!
