The 80s had so many power ballads, I am so thankful to have grown up with such amazing music. I wish everyone could feel that magic!!
me too
Couldn’t agree more 😊
Save a Prayer!
I miss the 80s. The last several years have just sucked. There's so much division, violence, and anger. I hope things get better soon.
And Jim Steinman wrote most of them!
If you can't tell, Jim Steinman wrote that song. It has that unique operatic quality to it. Imagine Meatloaf singing it.
Jim stienman was a genius 😊
Yes, and didn't he write Total Eclipse Of the Heart?
Almost word for word what I was going to say
@@jgweems It sounds like
TOTAL ECLIPSE now that you
mention it . I'm not mad, love that one too. 😄💞
Didn’t know that, but you certainly can hear it. Meatloaf woulda killed this!
I always loved how Russel just stands there and belts out these monstrous vocals with absolutely no effort at all.
Saw them a couple years ago and he still sings so effortless hitting those notes
Russell Hitchcock is an extraordinary vocalist but not given all the credit that he deserves among music critics. The important thing is that he's loved by millions of people worldwide. That's what really matters.
Actually, she wants to break up with him.
No effort shows when lip synching. A good sign is watching the singer's neck for veins popping in high or power notes. If they don't there's a good chance it's a lip synch. In some cases the singer might be actually singing but it's a recorded track we hear. This makes it look a little more real.
One of the greatest voices ever
This is probably my favorite Air Supply song! I totally agree with Jay.. I love a ballad with a strong voice! ❤️
Lead singer-Russell Hitchcock
Co Lead/ guitar- Graham Russell
Haha, that's a cool before-and-after : Graham Russell Hitchcock
Russell Hitchcock has excellent natural pitch. It's very noticeable. I think it also really shines on "The Power of Love," one of my favorite songs to listen to. It never gets old to me.
Love Air Supply, I don't care what people say. They're so good in concert, too. They sounded like the albums when I saw them 30 years after their heyday. SO good.
My date said I didn't know he was in the room. I think he was right ....
lumariadp,
I gave up letting other people tell me what music is cool and what isn't, I listen to what moves me!
Loved them in concert, so true
Saw them in 1995 in Atlantic City. My top 5 concerts of all time.
yeah, i saw them in HK about 30 years ago. Great gig.
This Australian duo was one of the best things that came out of Australia. They were one of the best sounds of the 80's. They were awesome.
Note: Update on this group. Graham Russell an Englishman and Russell Hitchcock an Australian met as part of Andrew Lloyds Webber's cast of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in London, England. This was back in April 1975. After the musical finished, they got together to form the group "Air Supply." They made their mark first in Australia. Later they would become international and worldwide superstars themselves. Pardon the pun. LOL...
Australia gave really great music in the 80's. Olivia NJ, ACDC, Men at Work, INXS, Midnight Oil and Crowded House, among others. Regards from Chile!
Don't forget John Farnham
I'll add Rick Springfield.
Never knew they were Australian! Or Rick Springfield..
@@tomasgonzalezmarin6118 & Spy vs Spy (v.Spy v. Spy) 👍✌️🇦🇺
Another fabulous harmony that we just don’t hear anyone doing anymore. These guys provided many happy endings to a last dance. ✌️
Pentatonix
My favorite Air Supply song! It’s such an epic ballad. “Every Woman In The World” “Even The Nights Are Better” are other good suggestions.
YES! AND YES!
Oh ya! Great songs!
and 2 Less Lonely People..
Excellent choices!
I agree. I love those two songs!
Another of Jim Steinman’s masterpieces…as if “I Would Do Anything For Love”, “Paradise By The Dashboard Light”, “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now”, “Total Eclipse of The Heart”, “Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad” weren’t enough to be a legend.
Air Supply, Journey, Foreigner, Chicago, these bands were always on the radio in the '80s. They all had great music.
💯% 🥰❤🎶
And all those groups started in the 70s.
@@chrisoakley5830 Yes, but these songs are from the '80s. And my pop music radio station I remember playing songs of theirs from the '70s.
All those bands (not including Air Suppository) had their best stuff in the 70s and became crappy Elevator music in the 80s. This dreck isn't even rock, its easy listening Lite, and music got even worse from there.
Wolfman Jack anyone😂😂❤
Air supply is the band that made you stop, think or remember about that one special person 🤔 😢❤
Not for me!
How is it I can’t remember something from yesterday, but I remember every word of these songs…😂
I just watched the lyric video and realized I sang half the words wrong as a kid.
One of their best songs, and they had a lot of great ones!!!
*FUN FACT:* "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" by Bonnie Tyler & "Making Love Out Of Nothing At All" were both written by Jim Steinman. For 3 weeks, they were #1 & #2 in the USA at the same time!!! Bonnie kept Air Supply out of #1. She would spend 4 weeks at #1, while Air Supply spent 3 weeks at #2.
Just realized they haven't reacted to that one. It's a must..
@@johan123212 Wow, I thought they did! We have to get them to react to it. It's one of my top 5 all-time favorite songs. :)
@@johan123212 They actually did. I knew I remembered it. I just went to the video for "It's A Heartache," and they mentioned they saw it. It looks like it got taken down.
@@BillGraper ah okay, such a shame.
And then Bonnie recorded her own version of this, also produced by Steinman.
"Making Love Out of Nothing At All" was the 8th and final Top 10 single that Air Supply charted on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking @ #2 for 3 weeks in 1983. Altogether, Air Supply charted 13 singles between 1980 - 1986.
Fun fact: I have seen Air Supply in concert many times and Graham Russell, who you see playing guitar, talks about how he actually plays the guitar upside down because he's left handed and thinks it sounds better. You can see in the video the tuning pegs are indeed upside down.
A great song written by the late great Jim Steinman, the guy who wrote all the Meatloaf hits and others. This is my favorite Air Supply song, and they still perform it brilliantly live in concert. Russell still has the voice, and the band they travel with now is tremendous. Thanks for reacting to this song, its a gem
Steinman wrote it, Rick Derringer did the solo with Roy Bittan on keys and Max Weinberg on drums
Agreed! One of my favorite songs by anyone. The video is really bad, but the song always gives me chills.
this is Jim Steinman's song - which he wanted Air Supply to sing. fun fact: Russell (lead singer) sang this song in the studio in the first take (no cuts at all). Steinman later said "what do we do now" - thinking and confused its not an easy song to sing, and Graham (the guitarist) said, we'll now we go home!
All hail Air Supply: the Masters of Soft Rock.
👏👏👏👏👏
Bonnie Tyler does an amazing version of this too - fantastic ballads from the 80s cant be topped - good morning all of you from Nottingham England x
Russell Hitchcock is unmatched in his pitch, clarity and strength....his vocals soar.
He's still got it too, at 74 years of age.
Don't get me started on Graham and his unbelievable talent.
I have loved Air Supply since I was 13 years old. Great reaction you two!!
Air Supply's best song IMO! "Every Woman In The World" is a good runner-up!
Great suggestion 🥰
As a male Gen X'er, I'll be fifty next month (September 2023), and Air Supply is one of the bands I grew up on. They were one of the amazing groups that people couldn't get enough of in the 1980's. I'd give half of what I have to go back to that time.
Gen Xers ruined music.
@@kbrewski1 , you don't know what you are talking about. You are probably some little snot nose teenage punk who tries to talk like a tough guy in the internet when in reality you know you would get your clock cleaned. You need not bother typing anything back because I will not be coming back here.
I remember playing this album hundreds of times in my teens. Amazing vocals, thanks for the memories❤
"Every time I see you, all the rays of the sun are
Streaming through the waves in your hair
And every star in the sky is taking aim at your eyes
Like a spotlight
The beating of my heart is a drum and it's lost
And it's looking for a rhythm like you
You can take the darkness from the pit of the night
And turn into a beacon burning endlessly bright
I've gotta follow it 'cause everything I know
Well, it's nothing 'til I give it to you"
HANDS DOWN this is some of the BEST lyrical magic that has ever been penned to paper.
I love to see young people's reactions when they hear an amazing band like Air Supply for the first time! I know that it was a different Era many years ago but the fact is this the music was just amazing and I'm not trying to put down today's music but I think the talent of writing music is lost! The music is only as good as the artist that writes It!!!! Thank you Air Supply for such amazing and PURE POWER!!!
Saw them in concert a few weeks ago and they have still GOT IT! Russell Hitchcock sings just as well live as on the recording. He might not hold the notes as long as back in the day, but he hits EVERY one of them. Fantastic.
Saw them live 30 years ago and Russell Hitchcock sang BETTER than the studio recordings in his prime.
True that! I did as well - the first time in 1987 - and it was unbelievably good. I was just saying he still does :)
I've seen them in concert several times, met them twice. Super nice guys to meet. Such an addicting concert experience.
They are an incredible duo and still performing. My wife and I saw them, last year, in Michigan. They were tremendous. The next song by them you should react to is called Sweet Dreams. The keyboard intro is wonderful 👍
Another Jim Steinman classic. I love this song. There again, I love most of his work. He was a genius.
One of the most underrated bands of the 80’s. Loved their music. Saw them in concert at their peak in the 80’s at an outdoor amphitheater. The sound was amazing.
I don't think they were underrated at all. They deserve full credit for destroying music in one fell swoop. Along with Boy George, Micheal Bolton and 80s Cheesy Hair Metal bands. Its been all downhill since the 60s and 70s!
My aunt took me to see them when i was like 11 ( I'm 55 now) i absolutely loved them. I thought oh lord why is she taking me. It's always been one of my favorite memories. They can sing, those voices are magic
Love me some Air Supply! They are awesome in concert! Russell Hitchcock (lead vocals) and Graham Russell are the heart of the band. They have some touching personal stories too!
This song just demonstrates how great music was back then in the 80’s, my favorite decade of music!!
I have been WAITING for THIS forever. YES.
This is such a good song. The buildup is just incredible. Another song from Air Supply with that same sort of dynamic buildup is "Sweet Dreams".
I actually like Sweet Dreams better than this one.
Sweet Dreams is so good.
Love this song. Air Supply is one of the few 80's bands I really liked. Love your reaction.❤
Awesome song awesome band, another great song of theirs i recommend is called Sweet Dreams, definitely one of my faves of all time. Sweet dreams was used in a movie called Stay Alive, great movie i also recommend too guys. 😎🎸👌
Just As I Am - Air Supply. J/A another great ballad by Air Supply that was a top 15 music charter from mid 80s. Love for you to react to it. Thanks for this great reaction!
This is a Jim Steinman song. He wrote "Total Eclipse of the Heart" for Bonnie Tayler, "It's All Coming Back to Me" for Celine Dion, "Dead Ringer for Love", for Cher & Meatloaf, and he and Meatloaf did a lot of other things. All of his music has this dramatic quality and great lyrics.
Ive seen Air Supply 11 times since 2006. They are always on tour and ive caught them at my local casino venue. First time i saw them 2006 , i took my mom for her bday. I wasnt crazy about them but by the end of the week, i had bought their greatest hits album. Next time I saw them a few years later , they had a whole new band including the guitarist and they were hitting them notes hard. I havent seen them in 2 years but they are amazing live. Love this band. I Recommend reacting to them LIVE.
I used to love going through their albums and finding all the hidden gems.
Written by Jim Steinman (the man behind all of Meatloaf’s great songs)…. My favorite by Air Supply!! Thank you!!
Another big thank you to Jim Steinman for this gem of music. When you know the reclusive lifestyle that Jim had, his operatic and desperate songs take on another dimension. Jim, who left us recently, lived alone in the New York countryside with about ten cats. Like a vampire, he lived at night and slept during the day. Plagued by bouts of depression, he said that being incredibly depressed did not depress him. The Man mastered excess like no other (''Everything Louder Than Everything Else'', ''Going All The Way Is Just a Start'' ''Out Of The Frying Pan And Into The Fire''). There will never be another Jim Steinman.
I have always loved Air Supply's songs🙂
'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', and 'Making Love Out Of Nothing At All' were No. 1 and No. 2 on the charts at the same time in 1983.
Classic. So many good songs from them..
Amber hit the nail on the head: Russel Hitchcock has amazing breath control and management. It takes a lot of hard work to discipline your breath management (and improving your breath support). Especially on the verses here, he sings in a very “legato” manner, meaning that all the notes connect smoothly to each other.
Another great Air Supply song to check out is “Sweet Dreams.”
Oh, and in the future please react to Steve Perry’s “Strung Out.”
This was #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 when Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was #1. Not only were both songs written and produced by Jim Steinman, but both featured Roy Bittan on piano and Max Weinberg on drums (from Springsteen's E Street Band).
Another great power ballad of the 80's is "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger
Damn this is one of the greatest rock power ballads of all time. What a voice!!!!!!
Love this track, composed by the late great Jim Steinman….Meatloaf fame
Brilliant power ballad from the duo
What a terrific songwriter! I didn't know he wrote this..duh. Now it's obvious it couldn't be anyone else! Thanks for the tip!
@@triggerwarning5762I remember telling a friend that Steinman wrote this and his reaction was exactly the same as yours! 😆
This song makes me sad. Reminds me of a boyfriend long ago. The lyrics are powerful and moving, and even more powerful by the superb voice of Russell Hitchcock and the backing choir. Definitely one of their finest.
One of my favorite Air Supply songs ❤ also Every woman in the World!!!
Hahaha, this reaction is fantastic! Air Supply rocks. I'm 54 and they had the best ballads in the 80s.
💯% 🥰❤
Jim Steinman was the force behind the bigger than big sound of this epic track. This song peaked at #2 on the US Singles Chart. Ironically, it was held out of the #1 position by another epic larger than life 80s Jim Steinman mega-smash for Bonnie Tyler which I’m pretty sure you guys have already reacted to and if you haven’t, then you definitely MUST react to “Total Eclipse Of The Heart”
Great Song!!!!!
Another monster hit from Jim Steinman (who wrote all the Meat Loaf songs). What a great lyricist.
I didn't know this, TY.
Well not all of them, but most of the good ones for sure.
Air Supply is the band my generation of rockers made fun of, but secretly loved. #guiltypleasure
We used to listen Air Supply on the radio, late at night. You could call the station and ask them to dedicate it to someone you loved. Then you call that person and tell her/him to turn on the radio and hear your dedication.
What’s great about this reaction is that it shows the viewpoints of a man and a woman; she sways in the romance of the song while he bops to the seriousness of his love.
It’s one of the most vibe ballads ever…… not vulgar, which is what people tend to make out of “making love”…. Air Supply has some banger songs; and the voice…… ooh
An amazing song from an amazing group and written by an amazing songwriter (Jim Steinman, who wrote almost all of Meatloaf's hits, as well as hits for Bonnie Tyler ("Total Eclipse of the Heart," "Faster Than the Speed of Night," and "Holding Out for a Hero") and Celine Dion ("It's All Coming Back to Me Now"). So glad you guys listened to this one! Now I have to recommend my absolute favorite song by Air Supply, "Two Less Lonely People." Such a beautiful song, I'm certain you will love it.
Every woman in the world is my favorite from Air Supply
In the 80s, this was the ultimate last dance song with the lady that got your pulse going. I have blessed memories from this era and this song.
Same here 🥰
RIP Robbie Robertson from The Band…. Love them.
Air Supply was my first concert EVER❤ early 80s
This song was FIRE, and still is. The powerhouse to end all powerhouses. Air Supply was the first cassette album I ever owned:))
This is Air Supply's most EPIC Power Ballad! Makes me emotional every time I hear it!
Love this song! I think it’s their best. I was 18 and heartbroken when this came out. I can feel it again now. ❤
For sure, they could deliver a romantic love song with some UMPH! Thanks for your reaction.
It's the EPIC DRAMA of another fantastic Jim Steinman-written song. It's the same songwriter behind "It's All Coming Back to Me Now", "Total Eclipse of the Heart", and MOST of Meatloaf's catalog!!
The best power ballad ever ❤
Another great power ballad from the inimitable Jim Steinman. You could imagine this being sung by Meatloaf, as Jim composed the vast majority of Meat's ballads also.
I saw Air Supply in the 80’s & they were fantastic. I love all their songs. Try Chances, Here I am, Even the nights are better. FYI- the first “power ballad” was actually by the Carpenters when they made Goodbye to Love. It shocked the music industry & was a huge hit.
Air Supply were all over the 80s. Every year they had a massive hit.
We were so spoiled.
My favorite by them by far.
This is my favorite Air Supply song . Russell Hitchcock has a top 5 voice.
This is another awesome song by the incredible Jim Steinman. You know his stuff, he also wrote Celine's "It's All Coming Back To Me Now", Meatloaf's "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)", Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart", Barry Manilow's "Read 'Em and Weap" and many more. Jim Steinman was amazing. Russell Hitchcock sang lead on this and both guys have said in interviews that Russell did it in one take!
Breathtakingly Beautiful song
I grew up listening to this on my mom's Air Supply's Greatest Hits. "Every Woman in The World to Me" is another good one!
My favorite Air Supply song!
Reminds me of school dances.
Air Supply a favorite of mine. A very deep rabbit hole. The album Ultimate has 18 banger songs. I had hoped to have a girlfriend. The songs I wanted to play for that never gf. Were "Every Woman in the World", "Here I Am", " Even the Nights Are Better", " Two Less Lonely People in the World." The 80s was the decade of my 20s. Great reaction as always guys. And thanks for listening to Air Supply.
Bonnie Tyler did an epic version in 1995. A music site stated that even though the Air Supply version was already great, her version was awesome.
If Air Supply's version is Steinman's usual "up to 11", hers goes up to 12.
Another great song written by the great Jim Steinman who wrote all of Meatloaf's biggest hits. He also wrote Celine Dion's hit. It's All Coming Back To Me.
Omg, I just saw them in concert last week!! They sounded amazing❤keep in mind they are 75 now and sounded like the album!!
WoW! Wow!YOW! Great tune !! Great reaction. Turn it way up loud and embarrass the kids! 😀😀 Poetry !! I am so glad you did this one. Thank you . THANK YOU. Hint Try something by the Kendals !
U can’t go wrong with some Air Supply!!! Try out “Chances”…or “Here I Am(Just When I Thought I was Over You)”…both sweet songs y’all. They definitely tug at the heartstrings ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
WOW! I haven't heard this song in so long, it's giving me goosebumps again, like it did the first time!
You can recognize a Jim Steinman song almost immediately by its operatic style. Classic!
I saw these guys in concert 30 years ago tomorrow and again last year. Still fantastic. This is is my favorite( lyrics-wise) of any of their songs.
What a great song from a great group.
This song is one of Jim Steinman's masterpieces! Power and drama at it's best.
Yet.. Another Fantastic and Enduring Band from Australia.. And yeah.. they are power ballad power houses!
Yes! One of my favorite all time songs!! 🥰
What a powerful song! First heard it at a transitional time of my life. So much reminds me of my wife who passed away from breast cancer eight years later. Brings the tears every time. Thanks for playing it, guys.
Went to a private Christian HS, some teachers were Father's in Church. One in class, played this song, never heard it, knew the band, as it went on, he paused several times, saying it was God, and us asking how did he do that, making Love from Nothing at All. So since that, everytime I hear this song, look up and smile. There's a concert on here of them in 2000s, great to watch, younger in band, fans great, and the 2 up front still great...look it up and watch!
I absolutely love Air Supply. They had the best love songs ever.
Just love them. So nostalgic.
They still tour from time to time. 🎉
