    Sparkling water makes me feel more full when I´m fasting, I think a lot of ppl miss how important fluid is when you do this (over all for that matter) and something to keep in mind, when you feel that hunger pain, it can be that your body wants fluid.
    After you posted about this last time, I finally got the guts to talk about it with my Doc, since I´ve been doing this unknowingly for so long, and I don´t have any issues, he said that everything was fine, as long as it works for me and doesn´t do any harm to my body (I have bad relation to food so, but this has actually helped me with eating)
    Tho I always have a meal replacement shake in the morning, otherwise I can´t take my meds...

    I tried it last week and the week before myself. Was pretty nice. The first time I broke my fast with carbs as part of my meal which I soon learned is the wrong way to break it. You should break it with protein, no carbs and low fat as anything with fat and carbs will spike your insulin and ruin the positive effects of the fast.

    • @juliagraf
      @juliagraf  4 роки тому +2

      I will have to experiment. What do you like to break your fast with? :)

      Julia Graf I tried chicken bone broth last time and it made me feel better than the time before when I broke it with tuna salad and cucumbers. I didn’t season it so it wasn’t as good as it could be but I was experimenting. From what I’ve read most people seem to have the best luck with the broth.

    I read into this and looked up some Reddit forums. Was inspired and launched straight into a 36hr fast. I'm at hour 40 now and am still not hungry. The only slight issue I had was a bit of nausea before going to bed last night. Had a hot shower and it went away, haven't had it since.

    Hi! Since your last video I've tried fasting. I've tried 16 and 18h and so far so good. I've not understood if you are supposed to be fasting everyday or gust sometimes (I mean with manor fasting, not 36h). Does not your body get used otherwise? Do you all have some suggestion where I can read more about fasting?

    I've been doing alternate day fasting for a little over 2 weeks now. It was challenging for the first 10 days in that I would over eat on my feeding days. I would feel anxious to eat and would really eat way too much but after 10 days I calmed down and have been able to eat more sensibly. But even with eating over 4 thousand calories per day I still lost 6 lbs in the first 2 weeks. I imagine some of that is water weight but some is diffenately fat. My clothes are significantly looser and my face is thinner. I feel good on my fasting days and feel I can do this longterm. My goal is 50 or 60lbs of weight loss this year and I feel that is diffenately attainable with this way of eating. Alternate day fasting is also a very healthy way of life due to the autophagy benefits. That is important to me because cancer runs in my family so its not just about weight loss for me. Alternate day fasting has many health benefits as well. It is the easiest and most effective diet I've ever been on.

    • @blaquewildfire
      @blaquewildfire 4 роки тому +1

      I had the same problem also but I use an ice-cream scoop to portion my carbs and eat more veggies and lean meat and chicken or fish it all depends on how much your daily portion is and try to decrease that slowly not sure if it's the right way or not this is just how I do it and it's worked for me so I thought I'd share it with you otherwise asking a personal trainer is helpful also

    Is that a European custom to eat so late at night? I eat between 11 and 7pm everyday. Definitely noticed that I'm less addicted to food because of it.

    • @SoulinTheBowl
      @SoulinTheBowl 4 роки тому +2

      Italy and Spain usually have that late dinner mentality - if you go into a local restaurant at 6/7 pm in Italy, it’ll be pretty empty. They eat much later. But in Germany dinner around 6/7 is very normal, so there isn’t one rule for all Europe since the countries are so different from each other.

      Dr. Wendy im a full time flight attendant (so quite demanding) and I do the 6/18 kind of fast. And sometimes I have to wake up around 3am to go to work and I only start eating at around 1pm. It’s a long time to wait to eat but I manage ! :)

    • @juliagraf
      @juliagraf  4 роки тому +3

      I don’t think that makes a difference, rather if you have a more sedentary office type job or one that is physically demanding. It’s no harder to sit at the office on a fast, than it is at home in front of your desk working. Work is work. It might be actually more tempting at home to go to your Fridge to eat! However if you have a physically intense job with manual labor, a shorter fast may be easier.

    • @jessicad9194
      @jessicad9194 4 роки тому

      I've been doing alternate day fasting with a full-time demanding job. I fast 36 hrs, eat 12, then start over again. It might not be right for someone with a very physical job though. Mine is more mentally demanding.

    • @blueys8008
      @blueys8008 4 роки тому +8

      Julia Graf I can see their point, it’s not about the energy expended while working, it’s more about the flexibility working from home offers. When in an office, you can be called into meetings at a moments notice and need to be completely alert and “on”... you don’t have the luxury of laying on the couch while working like WFH offers. Just being in an office setting with other people around is going to require a lot more mental energy.

    this is done by Muslims for thousand of years.. and now the "western world" has discovered it. iv been fasting myself from around age 12 and now im 28.. at young age we start "half-fasting" to get used to the idea, and as we get older we go to "full fasting". Islam encourage (if you want) to fast two days of the the week (Mondays and Thursdays= but the meaning is for a gap of 3\4 days between for 12-18 hours fast per time). i did it and doing with high school then uni, internship and then full time job.

      MashAllah, as a Muslim I too fast during Ramadan and also to make up after. I've also done intermittent fasting which is quite easy because we are used to it for a whole month and certain days every year. It's the best thing for mind, body and soul.
