@@belighria9105 oh ok. I thiught pylon referred to the individual pieces of wall in your weird defences. In my language a pilon is a column, not a power pole
you could have used gates with those rails that you have to erase every time you set up a new outpost so they would work as walls and wouldn't be a pain in the ass
I do similar thing, but instead of building line of power poles and using lasers, i use flamethrowers and uranium ammo instead. To support the outpost I use solar power, as you don't need much energy without lasers. Also I have some artillery turrets on the outpost to prevent biter expansion while train is not on that outpost. Amount of resources is controlled by simple logic circuits, so I know there won't be 6969+ drones or repair kits on the same base. I build those around the edge of my pollution, and they are fully automated.

its a nice outpost for regular rail world/default world. But on deathworld, especially in later stages of the game, especially with armored biters, i would not believe it can hold against some of the truly massive revenge attacks that will come your way.
I miss playing this game man, my main problem for not playing it is the demotivation I get when starting over in a brand new world and not knowing wtf to do.
I have a problem when I want to build a perfect base but there is so much to consider I end up staring at the screen for an hour before calling it a day
I wonder if theres a mod that makes bugs change target based on what they locally keep losing to target rails if nests destroyed by artillery train target power if lasers are issue target item transport if guns are issue
all this would change is people building walls and turrets along their rail lines, everythng will still be surrounded and defended but now with the hassel of building around all the train lines
It not danger attack, in my game mode, this outpost destroy very quckly. If here add mines -- it will be batter. Mines and lazer turrets good work together, but, fire turrets better solution -- for massive attacks.
It takes less walls to build this sort of a structure than a solid wall with the same thickness. This keeps biters, especially spitters at a sufficient distance. Also, the decrease in total hp is ok since the robots are gonna repair the walls anyways
To expand territory and prevent biter expansions. Any nest within the artlleries radius will be destroyed and all the bugs in their revenge attack will go to that outpost location, saves on needing a giant wall around everything as instead you dot these bunkers around your base and you are protected.
ok im in a dilema for turrets. gun turrets are cheap, and easy to use but need a lot of resources to automate. laser turrets do not need any ammunition supply aside from power, but they will o b l i t e r a t e your electrical network when firing. flamethrower turrets are nice but do not lead the target and never hit moving enemies, and get damaged easily due to this. overall, laser and flamethrowers is the direction im heading but still hesitant.
Simple and efficient

This is my approach also.
"bug zapper" all it takes is one bug to get smart and tear down a power pole.
And they do, often, send a single bug to attack a pipe or a power pole sometimes.

i would say an outpost in my mind is more of an self sustained military check point which can get supplies but not power from a base.
