About 60: If you get REALLY BORED, install both krastorio and space exploration. Creators cooperate with each other to make those overhauls compatible. But be carefull, our 3-person multiplayer map has 150h+ and we still barely scratched the surface. at this point we spend 8h just to make "small things" to improve quality of life or make our base prepared for bigger projects (which are still nothing if you look at things you can do). Those 2 overhauls make factorio such a big game, it is NOT a great idea to introduce to beginners, but go for it if you have anyone to play with!

I have circuit that kicks on boilers when solar power is not meeting base requirements. Boilers don't take more resources if the engines have nothing to supply, so I have a switch that closes when accumulator charge drops to 25% and opens when it gets back up to 80%.

There is an auto system in place for power balancing, it will use solar, then nuclear, then steam. It’s not the most efficient as it will be like 40% nuclear and 20% steam for example. I also use circuits for refineries by coal liquification but that requires lots of balancing to get right to be able to pump out each chemical no matter what the demand
I took about an 18 month break before the 1.0 release. Went back and dumped another like 400 hours. Honestly the only reason I don't still play is because I am busy IRL, if I could retire tomorrow I would play Factorio a LOT

I once spent an hour making a really silly circuit network. It would take a set of 600 iron plates and split them into a set of 400 and a set of 200. Even if the input then had excess, it wouldn't let things go until the two output chests were empty. It was for.. inserters (I think?) that needed 1 iron gear and 1 iron plate (and other things) and I wanted to be efficient with my iron. It's really stupid, but it works!
Everyone can make big factories. The real shit is in the compact ones. One guy made a 16x4 factory that produced everything. Compact factories are love.

I really like the circuit network stuff. I can manage the production speed when upstream materials are not sufficient, or cut the power using SR latch. Or I can activate some extra production line to get rid of byproducts. There are tons of other ways of utilizing the circuit network!

I took apart my base and rebuilt it by hand because I had a very special multiple-islands world where the starting base was good... but needed serious upgrades. Upgrades that only came with dismantling the whole thing and rebuilding it, though.
One time, I decided to burn a forest with a flamethrower. I stood in the middle of the dense forest, and created a circle of fire around me, burning the forest. Except I was now trapped inside an extremely flammable location, surrounded by fire. I quickly received the screen of shame.

You can use a similar system for a reactor that stores extra steam and only fuels itself when power levels drop.
