    Thank you! It's so hard to know what pet food to trust, and I'm so grateful for real animal lovers who are creating good food and who advocate for their well being.

    PSA: For anyone, like me, who was worried about the source of flaxseed oil in most of Raised Right's recipes, I emailed them about it. They said they only use cold pressed oil, which is good. Impressively, the response from them was within 24hrs of sending the inquiry. For those who don't know, most seed oils are heavily processed with high heat, hexane, and bleach. There are only a few methods of processing seed oils that don't involve those chemicals - cold pressing is one.

    @Dr.Judy Could you create a podcast focusing on the important bloodwork for dogs following a raw diet? I'm eager to understand what indicators to watch for and how to guarantee our beloved pets are happy and flourishing.

    Dr Judy, I just got my dog off kibble and any store bought treats recently, and feed him your pup loaf recipe (8 oz twice daily) which he absolutely LOVES. His fur is amazing but he still has some scratching and dandruff. My first step is to feed organic proteins to avoid any fed with grain or corn potentially treated with chemicals. I have 2 questions:
    1. Finding organic chicken gizzards is almost impossible. Is there a substitute I can use in the recipe in place of nonorganic gizzards?
    2. How do we count the kcals for the pup loaf recipe?

    Thank you both for this great, very informative interview!!! I also feed Raw and Gently Cooked. Rotating foods. I am feeding my two cats, Cookie and Scamper, Raised Right Gently Cooked! ❤
    This is top notch gently cooked food company! I'm so glad transitioning was discussed. If your pet won't eat it by itself at first, don't give up! Yes, cats, especially, can be very fussy. So for anyone having trouble getting their pets to eat, try transitioning. That's what I'm doing. I mix it into another wet food. I started with 5% of Raised Right and gradually increased the amount. Now up to 40%!!! ❤ I also add a little slightly warm water. Also helpful and very good for providing more hydration.
    Also, I used to feed my cats another brand. There was always some food left in the bowl. Now, after they eat, bowls are completely empty! They really like it! ❤😻😻❤

    Thank you so much Dr. Judy ❤🐾 My senior Lab is thriving on homemade food, and his recent blood work is excellent with dramatically improved ALP (the only value out of normal range). I so appreciate all of the knowledge you and your guests freely share 😊

    I am wondering why this food contains spearmint. My friend bought some for her 3 dogs and none of them would touch it. I wonder if the mint adds an odor.

      It's a great source of manganese and potassium.
      Also they discussed the importance of transitioning. My two cats would not eat it by itself. Please see my comment on here about my experience with transitioning. Briefly, I mix it with another wet food. Gradual transition. Now up to almost 40% Raised Right! And after eating, completely empty bowls!! They really like it!! ❤😻😻❤

      @janislevy1ify I know several dogs who will not eat this food. I assume it is from the smell of spearmint. It would be nice if they could use something else for manganese and potassium.

    • @janislevy1ify
      @janislevy1ify 3 місяці тому +1

      @@mamabear9389Yes, that would help. I see this a lot in comments about Raised Right. The spearmint scent is strong. Unfortunate, because it's such a healthy, very well formulated food (except for the spearmint). I needed to transition as you saw in my comment. It definitely has helped.

    I just happened to see the raised right pet food website the other day, and it looks great, but my cat has had struvite crystals twice and he's on a very low magnesium and low calcium dry food right now that seems to be working well for him. I would prefer to give him more of a home-cooked diet but I'm afraid to have any mineral content that's higher than what he's getting. Mainly because both times he blocked he was on wet food, so that doesn't seem to be the only answer for my cat. If anyone can give me information or assurance I would appreciate it.

    As a former veterinary rep with Hills for 34 years. I disagree with much of what Dr Judy believes and am definitely not a believer in high (excessive ) protein, low carb.....but....I review pet food companies, looking at their actual nutrients delivered, which is what really matters and no one looks at anymore, and I am thoroughly impressed with this company!!! Not only do they put all their nutrient levels on a dry matter basis on their website but the nutrient levels are the healthiest within this lightly cooked category. Again,not a fan of such high protein but the quality they are using to control the common excess minerals I find in so many foods, very impressive. i especially like the cat food! Human grade means nothing if you aren't correctly formulating and delivering optimal nutrients! Thats what will help reduce the risk of urinary stones, kidney disease, etc.

    • @sun82w
      @sun82w 5 місяців тому +3

      Not much credibility with your opening line. Show us what science you rely on to say how high protein low carb is not biologically appropriate, other than a Colgate funded study.

    • @pamwingo4650
      @pamwingo4650 5 місяців тому +1

      Apparently you don't listen, she is very. Thorough about what nutrients are needed in raw diets. Hardly think a pet food rep. Isn't totally biased.

    • @PetFoodPuzzleGuy
      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy 5 місяців тому

      @@sun82w well, about 75 years if studies, and obviously quite a few not funded by Colgate. And my seeing the results of the diets every day for 34 years has me differing with Dr Judy’s opinions. But I wasn’t talking about raw diets, which if formulated correctly are fine. I was commenting that almost every high protein is carb diet I have reviewed was All Life Stage and extremely unbalanced in minerals which for optimal health should be controlled. That’s based on decades of research too. Raised Right is the one and Farmina is another. I judge foods on the nutrients provided. I know all the marketing tricks really well. Btw, you obviously love pets. You’d be very happy with the millions Colgate has funded in the study of micro biome, nutrigenomics, antioxidants, etc.

    • @PetFoodPuzzleGuy
      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy 5 місяців тому

      @@sun82w btw, biologically appropriate…. For what? You could say species appropriate too. I hear that a lot. Great marketing and easy to keep repeating. You’re talking about nature. We can observe that. But nutrition science takes what we learn from nature and biology and allows qualified board certified nutritionists to formulate diets to actually manage disease like kidney or liver, dissolve urinary stones, relieve arthritis pain, all by manipulating nutrients, using various ingredients you have been told are so bad. This diet Raised Right gives you all the attractive ingredients you want, like Farmers Dog, Ollie, Nom Nom and a ton of kibble brands like Orijen, Taste of the Wild, but no one asks what the nutrients are! I did a video on Smalls Cat Food with human grade ingredients vs Raised Right. All the same marketing claims. Raised right was far superior as far as calcium, phosphorus and sodium snaking Raised Right a much healthier diet, reducing risk of urinary stones, kidney disease etc. yet no one even knows or looks. That is the tragic trend in pet food.

    • @PetFoodPuzzleGuy
      @PetFoodPuzzleGuy 5 місяців тому

      @@pamwingo4650 34 years of being taught by board certified vet nutritionists and spending every day in vet clinics all those years seeing the results of those diets…. I am clearly and absolutely biased. I am confident you have your own bias too.

    Forget about other people making your food. Ill never forget buying the best organic pet food for my 3 cats. It was very epensive. Then my wife and I went and bought all of our meat for the entire month and it cost less than the cat food. Just feed them human quality meat. Stop supporting these trash companies. Grassfed beef. Whole organic chickens where I mince the whole chicken bones skin an all. Egg yolks. Tuna. Sardines. Its not complicated. I was even thinking of raising mice and feeding them mice. Snake owners do it. But good quality human meat will suffice for now. My animals are thriving. This is not complicated people. My cats eat most things raw. Freeze. Defrost and serve

    I absolutely would love to purchase this healthy dog food but i just cant🥹 The prices are reasonable but even reasonable is too much money for me and many others living on 935 dollars a month ssi.... My heart is broken i cant afford to eat right !! Not really.. I have done the best i can i made the puppy loaf for my baby as best i can each month.. No kibble or dog treats at all. Ive orderd a few supplements to add to my dogs diet like calcium etc. But im afraid i still may be not getting everything in the food my dog needs over time... Never in my life and im 60 yrs old have i experienced such hardship to be healthy.. 😢 me and my dog😢

      I'm so very sorry 😢 If you have an Aldi or Lidl store nearby, I would suggest shopping at one or both. Their prices are a lot better than other stores. I bought 3lbs of frozen cod (wild caught) for $6.00 for my pup and he loves it. I went back and bought more, it's hard to feed him for a better price. I hope that helps and wish you well 🐾

      You could give a small amount of a good quality freeze dried food or canned food with the home-cooked food that you're giving your pet and most likely that would be enough vitamins and minerals. I can sympathize with you as I'm also on disability and I have a friend who was getting elderly at 75 years old and she lives on about $1200 a month. It's tough but you're not alone.

      When I was giving my dogs home cooked food with meat and vegetables I came across a chewable tablet called Peppy tabs and I believe the company was called California pet nutrition or something like that. My vet said they were great and my dogs did very well with adding that vitamin to their home cooked food. You may be able to find something like that at a health food store that carries pet products or on Amazon or Walmart
