She gets kibble for training time around 150-200g/day. The rest 80% is whole foods and home grown produce. I wouldn't bother putting too much veggies in the meal. Raw beef is full of vitamins and nuritions (i buy affordabl free range beef from the local market) i also give her raw 2 carrots to chew on a week.
My pug mix had terrible gastric issues after flea and tick meds. It was horrible and we tried every kibble. Finally we switched to pure rabbit and literally overnight he had perfect bowels and no vomiting. It was a miracle. Now one year later he only eats raw and we can rotate between rabbit, lamb, kangaroo, and turkey. He loves blueberries and other fruits but he hates leafy greens and all simple carbs (bread, rice, pasta). He loves eggs but it gives him diarrhea. And he hates all fish.
I have been feeding my dog frozen boxed raw meat that you can buy from pet store. I have been suspensions about the meat that’s packed in it especially after I found the piece of plastic in it. And apparently happens often. I am considering to get raw meat for my dog from butcher from now on.
What about concerns around nutritional balance for growing puppies? I am definitely in an analysis paralysis with my puppy and am only feeding premade made for puppies because I am afraid to DIY for her myself.
Its way cheaper and better made everyday at home. Really what's twice a day. I mean you feed and cook for yourselves. But I get it people. It's just to much trouble. Boy imagine getting old and your family does that kind of behavior towards you.
I started feeding my border collie different commercial brands of raw ( Viva, Bj's , Darwin's) He likes them and does well to a point. He will vomit bile each morning ( 3:30 in the morning). I work in vet med so i know this is empty gut / hunger vomiting. How can i feed him these raw foods so that he will not have this issue? I have tried giving him a "snack" before bed time but that has not helped. Thank you for any help or information you can share.
I had the same problem with my Dane after about 2 years on raw. He started to sometimes refuse the food or I had to really coax him to eat. So I started to lightly cook the meat and he has been really good since the change to cooked. He also refuses food that has any additional nutrients added however I have finally found a product line that he will eat mixed in I found it through the pet summits that both of these professionals have participated in. He has only had that empty stomach puke once or twice since cooked and never since providing the supplements in his food.
My border collie used to have those yellow vomits too, I pet set many dogs and often they have that vomit too. Now I own a 80 lb Belgian Malinois and he also vomits early in the morning.
My dog used to do this and we would “solve” it by feeding many small meals throughout the day. It was a little nuts how often he would eat. However after years of doing this he started to develop other issues so we recently totally flipped out tactics. He now eats one big meal in the afternoon and maybe a small meal later. It’s 100% intermittent fasting so his eating window is shorter. He gets fed at different times (we don’t stick to schedules) but he’s doing loads better and no more morning puking. I think his stomach was producing too much stomach acid because he was constantly having to work to break down small meals and treats throughout the day. He does complain a bit about not getting a treat after every potty trip but if I throw a toy for him he forgives me lol Hope your pup gets better!
Do you have an explanation for a situation where a carnivore gsd for 7 years now, but he's developed a persistent yeast infection on his skin, and ears? Our local vet thinks he's having a reaction to animal proteins and i should put him on sweet potatoes & pinto beans until his yeast infection is gone, then introduce meat back slowly...an elimination diet...but i'm uncertain as yeast thrives on carbs don't they?

A salt solution which contains 26% desolved salt in the water (same as sea salt), put 1 teaspoon of the salt solution in 8 oz of filtered water. Dr Brady discourages the use of tap water for dogs, chlorine is hard on them.
Im in australia north queensland my bullarab eats 500 gr of freshly shot kangaroo daily over 2 portions with cooked vegies and garlic and one egg daily. He chews a carrot as a treat or a brisquet bone.
A lot of doctors suggest that taking vitamin supplements does nothing except give you expensive pee. If you eat appropriately, then there's hardly any benefit in taking more from a bottle. I'd argue the same applies to dogs. Feed your dog a wide range of species appropriate foods, and it's unlikely they'll suffer deficiencies to the point of it creating health issues.
I make my own food....always looking to learn something . I agree with your guest. Not every meal needs to be perfect. Variety is key and I use the supermarket. I also order from local grass fed beef, and poultry. There are more organs than the supermarket.
Yes please, a discussion on salt. Dr. Brady said that minerals were a whole other topic, but I am told the Celtic salt has 82 minerals in it. The first time I used it I had to run and get water to drink with it. Sure loved the video. Thank you.

Agreed! 👍 It's not rocket science. People make it so difficult and need to stop over thinking it. Barf diet works and is easy to manage. My dog and cats eat raw meat with bone exclusively. One cat is 18 years old. The vet couldn't believe he was that old and was amazed at the results of his blood work. Blood work doesn't lie. I do not bother with fruits or veggies. If your dog has never had raw and you give them the raw chicken thigh, does it need to be cut up or can he be given the whole thigh to tear up himself?
Depends on the size of your dog and their chewing style. If your dog does not chew it and tries to swallow, you may have to hold it and let them practice chewing before you give them the whole thing. You can also try something smaller like a chicken foot or a wing. Observe your dog first. And of course never give them cooked bones, just raw.

The type of chicken bones a dog can eat depends on the size of the dog and their chewing style. Thighs are much denser bones than wings or backs. They are a bit too dense for my two very small dogs especially if the chickens are pasture raised because those kind of chickens walk around a lot and have denser leg bones.

@Dynamofoe Most dogs can handle raw meaty bones just fine if they are the right size unless they have some dental issues. Then they may have difficulty. I would just observe your dog. There is a very slight risk of choking, however that is extremely rare and in 14 years of bone feeding I have not seen this. It's quite possible dogs began taking those tiny evolutionary steps in digesting carbohydrates long before humans began agriculture, and while they were still living a hunter and gatherer existence. When game was scarce, it's not hard to think those early dogs that were just beginning to rely on humans for their food would have been fed some carbs like tubers, yams, sweet potato, nuts etc.

At minute 52:06 what are beef mints? When he says, let them eat bones, such as Chicken Wings he means all three sections they can eat the bone of the chicken wings? They can eat chicken thigh bones? We have no butcher irs terrible. Nir even the Hispanic nor Asian stores sell that stuff. They get everything pretty packed. Not like years ago. 1 store sells chicken feet. Looking for smels no luck sad
Beef: 16-26%protein Chicken:20%, Pork 18%, Red-meat 20-25% protein. What is this you say that dog kibble doesn't have enough protein? All my dogs have ever had kibble and lived long happy lives. Spayed and neutered too. Feeding your pet people foods can lead to bad behaviors, like trash digging, begging, eating things off the ground dropped by other people at parks, etc. I discourage anyone from feeding human food to pets. When they are older and want a taste, that might be a little different. A high quality, proven safe food by millions of pet owners is just fine and doesn't mean you are not taking care of your pet (special needs aside).

They are a bit too dense for my two very small dogs especially if the chickens are pasture raised because those kind of chickens walk around a lot and have denser leg bones.
@@mamabear9389 thank you! I was thinking more the raw chicken might make mine sick at first try so was wondering more about that, but she’s about 20kg (small lab cross/rescue) so maybe she could handle the bone… I’ll give them a try anyway 🤷🏼♂️😊🙏🏽
Just make sure you are observing how things go and can step in if necessary.
@@mamabear9389 ok awesome thank you! 🙏🏽😊👍🏼 just got some today so we’ll see! (You must be the ‘big momma’ he kept referring to on the video? 😂 I’m in Dublin Ireland so was pleasantly surprised to see him on here!
@Dynamofoe Yep that's me! I keep trying to learn more about homemade raw even though I have been doing it for 14 years!
Looking into this seriously. I'm just not sure about chicken or turkey, our dog seems sensitive to these. May have to stick with other proteins.
Hi Rachel. My puppy will be turning one in a couple of weeks and I am trying to determine what raw food I should feed her. When it comes to commercial raw products what are the nutritional guidelines to look for (% of protein, fat, carbs and moisture)? I am also looking at freeze-dried, so what should I look for there? Thanks for any information you can give me.
MY DOG HAS SOME TYPE OF ALLERGIC REACTION 2 SOMETHING I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE 2 PIN POINT WHAT IT IS - BUT IM TRYING VERY HARD 2 ELIMINATE N ADD UNTIL I GET IT RIGHT --- HE GETS SUPER RED RASHES INSIDE HIS EARS & ARM PITS N EATS GRASS LIKE A MANIAC - PLZ HELP ME IF ANY1 HAS KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM -- IM ALL EARS /NO PUN...
chicken causes this in our AmStaff. Hair loss, grass eating and itch skin, licking her paws etc. Cut out the chicken and she heals.
Is he eating chicken? Lots of dogs are allergic to chicken
Can you freeze eggs then and how long do they throw
Yes you can freeze eggs in ice tray, then place frozen eggs into freezer container.
Have several dogs all are pickey some won’t eat beef some chicken some liver no blueberries I cook some food What do I do
I fed my dog freezer dried dog food from Primal. he do well and healthy but only notice his creatine level is on the higher side but still within the normal range. and his liver alt is slightly elevated. The vet told me some senior dog has a slight elevated liver alt and stay that way. my dog is 12 years old and 4kg. Also his cholesterol is on the higher side as well by within normal range. Looking to perfect his diet. anyone has any opinion?
At minute 52:06 what are beef mints? When he says, let them eat bones, such as Chicken Wings he means all three sections they can eat the bone of the chicken wings? They can eat chicken thigh bones? People always say they splinter and could damage them, but that’s not the case? What is the definition of a raw bone? What part of the body is that?
Mince
Mince meat = finely chopped
I THINK ITS COOKED CHICKEN BONES THAT R DANGEROUS 4 OUR PUPS ...
Any cooked bone is bad for dogs. Give dogs uncooked bones only
Do you have to deworm the dog often
Yes please salt discussion 😊🙏🏽 I know Himalayan or Sea salt is great for humans but thought salt was poison to dogs 🤷🏼♂️😩
I put a dash of Redmond real salt on my dogs food about once a week.
@@Micha-Mich is there some published paper to back this statement? Not arguing, just have never heard that before, so wonder where you got this information
@@Micha-Mich I use Redmond real salt.
@@Micha-Mich ok thanks, I follow Berg and believe he is legit and does the research 😊👍🏼
Mostly yes ;)@@Dynamofoe
What if my dogs teeth are all worn down? (too much ball time growing up) Haven't capped any yet- Can he still have raw bones like turkey necks ? I dont want to damage them anymore ! 😓
Grind the bones
The code does not work for his course, is there a new code we can use?
Is there a pre packaged raw food diet for cats?
i think We Feed Raw has cat food
So what if your dog gets loose stool when your adding cooked meat n say fresh steamed green beans …. I just gave some fresh ground turkey all of my small breed Shihtzu n Pom devoured it only gave them 1 tsp test … but I ended up low heat cooking it they had kibble n can this
Morning my 4 yr old Shihtzu just had loose stool … why do I do …
If you add sweet potatoes to his/her diet will tighten up stool. I usually steam whole potato until is soft and give my little guy two slices every day cut into small strips. Whole sweet potatoes refrigerate well and kept fresh with Saran Wrap at the end.
Or give pumpkin from a can try a tbs to see how it does
I don't even feed myself that good 😂
ID LOVE SOME RECEPIES! ❤
Amazingly great information. I love that he emphasizes that you don’t have to stress so hard. It’s true my dogs are more eating better nutrition than my kids. 😂
Chillchill bro. My dog gets spoiled because I dont have kids. Shouldnt compromise on your kids for an animal.
Wow, ok that was a joke. My kids are in high school and have always eaten very well. Thanks for the concern though.
@@kennethmortonstudios ...sry. Just sounded off lol.
Crock-Pot home cook a batch
Finally, really high quality content on this topic!!! Thanks
We got some from our meat store
My adhd is kicking in I'm so confused
No special recipes for puppies?
Fantastic! 🎉❤🎉
What are beef mints?
Mince
Ground beef
😅😂😂😅
salt
Isnt supermaket meat grain fed and full of hormones?
Local butchers are probably better
Yes they are. Buy locally grown beef
Raw chicken drumsticks?
Use Redmond’s REAL SALT - the best at with all the best minerals.
I've been stressing about feeding raw food. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this interview.
I fed my dogs raw for the longest time (highest possible quality) and both did not do well at all and were always constipated… especially on red meats… but even raw poultry would make them throw up… even after weening them off for awhile
What is BEEF MINTS? My ears hear it that way, as does captions. Is this what's being said?
I think he may be saying beef mince which is finely chopped beef.
I think he’s referring to ground beef
Thank you thank you!!! My golden girl loves crunchy asparagus!! 100%raw fed❤❤
I just got his book…. And then stumbled on this video… good purchase made
Ketona kibble is meat
I eat e=raw meat from supermarket for years. all these bacteria thing is bs.
I want to watch this video so bad but he’s talking so fast and I cannot understand his accent 😩. Is this available in caption?
We have no butcher irs terrible. Nir even the Hispanic nor Asian stores sell that stuff. They get everything pretty packed. Not like years ago. 1 store sells chicken feet. Looking for smels no luck sad
Where is the chicken pie He is talking about that. He feeds his dog.
He said chicken thigh
@@niiaD😅
A doctor?.. Why don't you pick more believable actors. This one is funny...
Ok you need to give measurements for per dogs weight how much to feed them and show how to make it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wast of time😢
Beef: 16-26%protein Chicken:20%, Pork 18%, Red-meat 20-25% protein.
