About 7 years ago, I adopted a rescue dog who had heartworms and we treated him
With the slow kill method of doxycycline and Ivermectin ( he originally came from texas.) He was cured and lived 7 years more years. Best dog I ever had and I was so thankful to have helped give him a great life.

She just said something I have never heard... They need to get tested for heart worms before being given the treatment or it could cause seizures or even death. My vet never mentioned that to me, so I suspect many pets don't get tested first. There are always going to be some who react, anyway. My dog's system does not react well to drugs, so I have to really research natural treatments.

Thank you so much for this informative video, I came across Doctor Morgan on a different UA-cam Channel when I was questioning dog vaccines…
I have a one year old Yorkie and making my own informed decisions instead of going with the standard suggested Vet cocktails of drugs for her. I started questioning if she really needed alllll of those vaccines and wondering if the epilepsies and issues with older dogs were side effects of all of the preventive medicine and vaccines.

I lived in Spain for a few years, together with my Spanish grandmother. There where in total 6 dogs. My grandmother only gave 1x a rabies vaccine to all.
The females got 1x an anti- pregnant birthcontrol injection each year.
      No more meds ever.
Only 1 German shepherd got a neuroligical disease and maybe, because he was a police dog first, he got more meds or more vaccines and that was maybe the reason why he got the neuroligal disease and they got rid of him and the friend of my grandmother adopted this dog, because the police wanted to euthanize him first, but the friend heard of it from another friend and wanted this dog anyway.
The other dogs never where sick.
Eating only fresh home cooked food. There was no commercial dog food and snacks back then.
My grandfather who lived in a smal village had also dogs and he not even got a rabies shot. There was no vet anyway. Never got sick either.
If a dog got sick, no doctor was there, so the dog survived it or not.
He also only gave fresh food from home.
I live in Belgium and my first own dog was a Belgian Malinois from the shelter and he was 6 month old. I made shure he did not get castrated either and not making babies! He got vaccines before i got him i guess, but when i got him, i never gave vaccines, other meds or flea/tick meds. He only had 2x anti worm meds just because the vet gave it automatically, when i was for control there. I only went 2 times in those years to the vet in almost 14 years and 1x when his poop was changed and he suddenly was walking funny with his hindlegs. Like he was suddenly wobly, stif.
He never got serious ill before, only upset stomac and he himself cured himself by eating grass or NORIT>CHARCHOAL.
But when the 3d vet gave my dog at 13,5 years old painkillers, combined with anti- inflamatoire in 1 pill, he developed after 3 days so much issues, he developed hind legs weakness/ paralisis, after 2 weeks forlegs paralisis, renal failure, intestine sluggishness and not pooping well. He deteroriated further from another vet who gave him again painkillers, anti- inflamatoire, antibiotics in 1 shot. That coctail was the end of it. The next day his skin had holes and on certsin areas his flesh fell of with red rashes and whining the entire time, developing blue/grey gum and tongue discoloration, his balls swell up, could not get up at all and the end was horrible. So after giving the first meds + the coktail injection was the end of health and forced euthanasia. I died that moment with him.
I never will forget and never will forgive vets.
      I hate now vets.
My best friend who was almost 14 years old, still very strong, very fit, full of live and beautiful...😢

I have stopped giving my dog the flea and tick meds as well as the heartgard. I felt terrible that I've given it to my dog for eight years. Thanks so much for the very interesting info! I use preventative for my Lab boy as we're in SC, he spends a lot of time outside, and we're in the woods near the swamp & a large river. I will re-evaluate what im using and the frequency. Unfortunately he has a severe flea allergy so has been on a combination product. I tried an essential oil topical once and his sensitive nose couldn't take it- he acted as if he was trying to escape his own skin and i had to wash it off 😔 At least i tried!

I am very concerned by the line of thinking presented by Dr. Morgan regarding "risk profiles" for heartworm prevention. Climate change has altered our seasons here in NC, and I see mosquitoes at times I wouldn't normally. And your dog doesn't have to be an "outdoor dog" to have a higher risk. Do you walk your dog? Do you travel with your dog? Do you go to someone else's yard? While I am concerned about the impact of preventatives, the idea of monitoring weather patterns to determine levels of heartworm risk to my beloved dog, Copper, is over the top to me! I was hoping she would discuss the levels of risk of various types of heartworm and parasite preventatives. Topical vs. oral etc.
It is hard enough to get people to comply with basic care for their pets in my area. I would be very concerned that people see this as a license to "go their own way" so to speak.

Peopl I know are freaking out. I eventually want to get her on home made food. Maybe Puploaf. Can you possibly evaluate the Wysong food I mentioned? I can list tge ingredients . "Too much protein!! My little doggie got the 6month shot. That night she started throwing up blood for hours. No vet was available. I was so afraid she was going to die. She is all of 10 lbs and she threw up blood about every 10-20 minutes from 9 pm until 2 am. So frightening! I did get her in to see vet next morning. Poor little thing. Thankfully she made it, but I will never try the shots again. I tried it because she just would not eat the chew type treatment, but thankfully after all her troubles the vets finally told me there still was a topical available which is what i use now.

OMG!! My dog was given a ProHeart 12 month shot last December 2022 as recommended to me by my vet. Luckily she is still with me and healthy (although i may get some tests done after hearing this now, with regards to her liver & kidney health etc. and for some weird reason i did not want to return this Dec (23) to get her the next yearly shot. She was on Trifexis before but the Vet recommended the injection. I am so over being fooled by so called professional vets!! That same vet even recommended I’d feed my dog some Hill‘s science dog food in a tin after my dog became ill - i opened 1 can, it looked like something that was left by my dog outside but canned 💩, my dog didn‘t go near it and i returned the whole lot without feeding it to her. After doing a lot of research, my dog was on farmer‘s dog for a while but when i got a new dog as her sister it became a little to expensive and once again i felt i wasn‘t giving them what they needed (plus FD was to carby), i switched them both to a raw food diet with some supplements. I have not given either of them any heartworm preventatives and i am hoping i won‘t have to this year as we will be moving back to the UK in April this year. I am so sorry to have allowed my dog to be given this injection and just hope i can keep her healthy and protected from here on out. Thank you so much for the video and all the info discussed. It‘s been eyeopening for sure. I live in Houston, TX for now btw which is ripe with heartworm positive cases etc so every vet will insist on meds unless you know better.
