My dog was just diagnosed with renal failure. She spent the day at the vets getting a kidney flush. They gave me some cans of special kidney diet food but I want to give her something else that will help her more. I’m going to call dr Harvey tomorrow thank you for the reviews.
Unfortunately, we listened to our vet and had our golden spayed at four months old. She is now two years old and is extremely heavy. She’s very active though. We walk several times a day and she and her sister play hard at different times of the day. I have them on Acana dog food… I have tried transitioning to home cooked, raw and freeze dried. They will eat it for a very short time and then won’t eat at all until I give them the dry kibble. I must get her weight down. Please help. Thank you so much for all you do. I tell everyone about your UA-cam videos and all the books you write. I’m grateful to you and Dr. Karen Becker and others that are guiding us to help our pets be healthy. It’s just not always easy because the pets can’t watch the videos and know that we are doing what’s best for them. Lol.
If you are using Acana kibble there are a ton of starches in there that will decrease the ability to lose weight. Try using something that is low-carb like the Dr. Harvey's base mixes (Paradigm or Raw Vibrance) which will improve metabolism, lower blood sugar, and decrease insulin-resistance. Have your dog's endocrine system tested - thyroid panel, adrenal panel, pancreatic function.
we tried Paradigm with gently cooked meats. She ate fine for a few days and then wouldn’t touch it at all. I had a Mobil vet come by to test her thyroid and the test came back normal. I will try the Raw Vibrance this time and see if she will stick to it. Thank you so much. @@judymorgan4241
I would try fasting your dog and try the Paradigm or Raw Vibrance when they’re hungry. My dog prefers the Paradigm, but, if I feed her favorite meat (ground turkey) she’ll eat any of the base mixes.

Some lady was saying that because it has carrots, butternut, sweet potatoes and that other starch that this was not a good allergy food because of all the starch is this true that it has allot of starch... In reality how much starch should we put in our dogs meal
Dr. Harvey's products that we recommend do not have a lot of starch. I am okay with butternut squash and carrots. I don't feed starchy beans or potatoes to my dogs.
I am hoping that you will answer or someone might be able to help. Do you believe that Doctor Harvey`s hip and joint chews can actually help my miniature poodle as he has luxating patella ? That depends. It could be coming from a spinal nerve problem, a bladder sphincter problem, or even a prostate problem. Radiographs, urine testing, and prostate exam are very important.
Hello! Dr. Morgan, I would like to know if you have any recommendations for a 4 year old female spayed dog who’s been experience urine incontinence? My dog has been on Viva Raw food diet for the past 3 years. She has two surgeries, in regards, to her being spayed. The first vet did not stitch her correctly after spaying her which caused her stitches to open. I had to have a second vet correct his mistake. I’m not sure if they fixed the issues now that she’s having these issues. However, I’ve recently started to use Hilton Herbs LBM Solution for Incontinence. I haven’t seen any improvement just yet since it has only been 3 days. I’m wondering if adding Dr. Harvey Canine Health to her diet will help…since it has oats, flax seed, Fenugreek, and other ingredients to help female dogs with incontinence. Anyway, if you could provide some feedback that would be helpful?

I heard green beans are bad for dogs in kidney failure. Is this true? so far the sample bag of the canine health is the only thing my senior dog has eaten in days. I didn’t have to add any baby food to it. He inhale it so fast. But I don’t want to contribute to his kidney failure.
dr morgan i have a 7 year old morkie,marley had pancreatitis for most of the summer on and off. We were able to get it under control with prescription dog food. but about 90 days ago he was diagnosed with diabetes . he started off at 1 cc of insulin and now is on 2 cc twice a day i switched him to home made dog food a few months ago and hes doing great! his water intake is normal now for the last few weeks and he gets retested next week. he now eats barley,90% hamberger,aspagess,blackeyed peas and cut green beans is this a good combo? its so hard to know? please help? mike
Hi Mike that definitely is not a balanced diet. If I was in your place I would look into getting Dr. Morgan’s Yin and Yang book and feeding a diet from that book. Tons of recipes.
Dr. Morgan, I'm watching your interviews on the Pet Summit this weekend and have a question about your recommendation of synthetic vitamins and minerals with the Dr. Harvey's Paradigm and Raw Vibrance products here. As we all know, natural sources of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other trace elements are far superior and easily obtainable through a fresh diet rather than a supplemented slightly raw with dehydrated vegetables as this company promotes. I also question the suggestion of oils the brand recommends.
Raw Vibrance does not have added vitamins and minerals. Paradigm does. Personally, I prefer no synthetic vitamins and minerals. The oils you use are up to you. I have my favorites that I turn to and I would recommend you choose what resonates with you and best fits your dog's needs.

Make sure you are rotating proteins.

I wanted to try the allergy formula (fish )for my dog but was hesitant when I found out they do not test for mercury .☹️ Thoughts on this ?
It’s salmon. It’s a healthy fish to feed. My dog wouldn’t touch it. I’m considering mixing a raw egg with it.

You don't need the Green Min or Soul Food. You can still use a probiotic.

@@susanlee2584 You can add both. Liver should be no more than 10% of the diet. Heart and gizzard count as muscle meat, so add all you want.

Some of their products do and some do not. Every pet reacts differently (or not at all), so you have to go with how your pet responds.
