Personally, 10 has my favorite battle system of any FF. I love being able to see where my party stands and how different attacks and spells will change attack order in the right column. It felt very tactical and allowed using faster characters with First Strike to be immediately swapped for slower, heavy hitters if you needed a big damage rush early on. Great system, would love to see it come back.
Problem with this system is that later in the game when you have ultimate weapons and sphere grid is completed, CTB becomes redundand, and fight with bosses more or less relies on counter-attacks and auto-attacks since even Penance has a turn every 10-15 slots. You don’t have to become a final aeon to become an aeon. Anima, Seymour’s mother, became a fayth at Baaj temple in order to help him on his pilgrimage in a more meaningful way, i think.

X is probably the best Final Fantasy game. When you consider the era, and technical limitations of the day FF X was an amazing experience. It was my first serious JRPG, starting a lifetime of enjoyment.
I feel similarly about VII. It was the first game that I owned and completed, beginning a love for the JRPG genre that has never faded. And it was a similar feat for the hardware of it's time. I consider them both to be some of the greatest examples of pushing hardware and narrative to new heights within the genre.

That last fact was cool, giving a hint to future developments. I wonder if the message in the cell also be doing the same thing.....giving a hint to the player without us even paying attention to it, like what if the person who wrote on the cell floor said something about the truth about the Maester?
I'd love to see a video on just the sphere grid - that ONE mechanic has influenced so, so, so many game designers that to this day you still see the sphere grid in various forms. Path of Exile's leveling and progression is just the sphere grid expanded.
I took Seymour for granted as a villain as just “the annoyingly evil dude who won’t die” but I’m glad he’s much better than I remember him to be when reminded how we was forced into this position through hatred isolation and sacrifice
I don’t know if they ever specified what happened to Baaj Temple but my theory is that after Seymour acquired Anima, he summoned her to destroy Baaj Temple in a fit of rage.

Now that Final Fantasy X is now remastered for both PS3, PS4 and hopefully someday a PS5 version, I was hoping Square would utilize the online feature that was originally for the game. From what I've heard, the online feature was going to allow players to trade and share items from each other. Potions, Phenix Downs, and even Spheres for your Grid. If you were missing an item or if you needed more, you could use the online feature to trade and ask people online for items. That would be cool. Believe it or not, and for most of you would doesn't know this, but Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Returns, ACTUALLY HAS THIS FEATURE IN THE GAME! No joke. Long story short, if you speak with a random NPC (with the online feature on), you'll see a NPC with a PSN username above their heads. Meaning a player is sharing an item they found and is leaving it for another player to use, if they need it. It was a nice addition. And to top it off, "I've heard" in the FFX online mode, not only you could trade items, but speak with the other players as well too. I don't know how much this is true, but the online feature for FFX should make a comeback. Now that we're living in a day of age where online gaming is permanent. I won't put money on it, but it would be nice to see.
This game is a gift that keeps on giving. I am always still in awe when I think what they created at that time. Thank you for diving into this for us. I didn’t know anything about the writing on the floor. Also so interesting to know the online idea was inspired by Everquest.
Just when you think you know almost everything there is to know, there's always more being discovered or brought to light. One small detail that few people tend to know about FFX is that although most Blitzball techniques are able to be techcopied, “anti-drain” appears to not be possible to techcopy. The A.I. will not equip it unless manipulated to do so by the player equipping it to a blitzball player and releasing them, will only leave it equipped for the first half of a match, and it doesn’t seem to share a techcopy window with the other “anti-skills,” and doesn’t seem to have a window at all, not providing even a sound queue to confirm a player inputted a techcopy. It’s especially curious why this oversight is left in all versions of the game, including the HD remaster, as it is a key technique for a good number of players

As both a wrestling and Final Fantasy fan, that FF10/10-2 and WWE PPV crossover promotion is still one of the most hilarious/satisfying moments I’ve watched 😄😆
If this game gets remastered again, it’d be cool if there is a option to have a different ending. In this ending, Tidus becomes the Final Aeon, and the game will have you fight Sin as Final Aeon Tidus.
I was always under the impression that Seymour didn't fail his pilgrimage but that he decided not to face sin with his final aeon. He wanted to become someones aeon so that he could in turn become sin. I have no idea if this is accurate but wouldn't it be wild if he used Anima to kill his father. Sick.

@@TheMetastasia Right. Most villains, even real-life ones, are just abused, traumatized people. It doesn't make their actions right, but you can't help but sympathize, emphasize, and pity them.

For real. Good surprise though!

There’s still so much to Spira we need to see. They could do the machina war prequel, the braska prequel, or even a sequel where the main cast become aeons. Imagine Titus as Leviathon, Kimahri as Griever, etc. Spira is definitely in my top 3 fantasy scapes. They built it out so well.

Ff10 is seriously one of my favorite final fantasy games... and actually my first.
Same, just finished replaying this game and it brought back so many feels.
So, did Seymour and his mother begin their pilgrimage when he was only 8 years old? Then did they make it all the way to Zanarkand for her to become his Final Aeon, only for him to run away back to the Baaj temple? I never quite understood Seymour's timeline...
You don’t have to become a final aeon to become an aeon. Anima, Seymour’s mother, became a fayth at Baaj temple in order to help him on his pilgrimage in a more meaningful way, i think.
Pretty much, his mother became the fayth for the final aeon, but he turned and ran away. He eventually came back to Zanarkand when he was older, and relocated Anima's fayth to Baaj temple

Final Fantasy IX came out right before it and was better.
Hearing more about my favorite FF is always a big yes for me. Thanks for sharing 😄🥳 !
Ugh this was so refreshing! So many facts I didn't know about! Wonderful as always! FFX content will always be my favorite!
Final fantasy X was my first ps2 game my 1st voiced game an my 1st emotional moment with a game an i was 6 years old this game is not meant for people that young with wut this game tackles i could only understand so much with my mom explaining it to me it wasn't until i became a teenager and replayed this game again that i understand everything an how much emotion the story and acting brings up this is my favorite game of all time and i hoped we can get that 3rd entry to bring this amazing story to it's conclusion 😁
That last fact was cool, giving a hint to future developments. I wonder if the message in the cell also be doing the same thing.....giving a hint to the player without us even paying attention to it, like what if the person who wrote on the cell floor said something about the truth about the Maester?
I've always wanted to know what it said!!! Ugh
The last great traditional in the series. Final Fantasy isn’t just isn’t the same anymore after X.
Too bad this bit about Seymour is easily missable, they shouldn't have made Anima an optional Aeon and instead have the story guide us to his mother.
I don’t know if they ever specified what happened to Baaj Temple but my theory is that after Seymour acquired Anima, he summoned her to destroy Baaj Temple in a fit of rage.

So many things I'm finding out about this beautiful masterpiece of a game. I love it.
I just love this game. I own it on ps2, have the collectors edition of the HD remake with the artbook for ps3, and the version for ps vita. Ive finished all three copies and constantly replay them! I want to own a copy for every console its been released on. If any game can be considered “timeless” this would have to be the one.
Same! I have it for every platform including PC. I bought the switch version for my wife, but I’m still planning on getting the Japanese import, since it comes with X2 physically.
That cage looks a lot like the one Shuyin was seen in during the eternal calm prequel to X-2. Could the writing have been from him?
Yes, if the writers make it canon.
My most beloved Final Fantasy entry. They don't make games like these anymore...
8:25 as a long time wrestling fan and a hardcore FFX fanboy I can say without a doubt that is the coolest holy grail of a piece of FFX memorabilia in existence
Ffxi was hands down my favourite game of all time but 10 brings back memories for me as I was playing this at uni lol good times
I am not sure you still do this channel. However i just stumbled across it. You are awesome!!! I love how much you love this series!! I know i do!! Been a hugh fan since the NES days as a child. Thank you for all your amazing work. Big fan here of yours!!
I had played 120+ hours of this game upon its original release on PS2. I would say I had completed at least 95% of the game, including capturing all of the monsters, defeating Penance and all of the Dark Aeons. I never dodged 200 lightning strikes or maxed out the sphere grid for all of the characters, but apart from those two things, there wasn’t much that I didn’t complete, yet I did not know any of the things mentioned in this video. Thank you for providing this insightful view of this wonderful game
I hope the tattoos idea gets to be used one day, sure cosmetic changes are nothing new on RPGs but as a fan of tattoos it sounds like coolest idea ever

Lol that shit would be redundant
I liked learning about the depths of Seymour’s insanity.
This game is a gift that keeps on giving. I am always still in awe when I think what they created at that time. Thank you for diving into this for us. I didn’t know anything about the writing on the floor. Also so interesting to know the online idea was inspired by Everquest.
A few seconds in and you're making me feel old. TWENTY YEARS AGO. BRO.
Final Fantasy X will always be my favorite Final Fantasy game spent hundreds of hours playing it.
One of the only games to make me cry like a baby
the seymour stuff was cool i wish they wouldve told us more about his backstory
Just when you think you know almost everything there is to know, there's always more being discovered or brought to light. This game really makes you appreciate every little detail that was put into it, even decades later. That is one of the many reasons why this is still my favorite game to this day.
3:30 that sphere grid.
What a beautiful thing.
It was rebuilt in game through weeks of grinding.
Iv done it once but never again.
Still the best battle system I was sad to see it wasn't used again
The world-building in FF10 is incredible. It's a setting I always want to know more and more about. Thanks for all these facts and looking forward to more in the future
Earned my like at 1:24, solid writing for that video script, liking how it's presented.
Bro, even the mini game blitzball was a complete gem. Drafting players and learning new skills, it was so fun
I really enjoyed this video. I loved the first 2 facts considering ive always been a fan of the progression system of the sphere grid. It made levelling up a lot more fun, and the second one because i am a fan of professional wrestling :)
Damn that is some deep stuff about Seymour in the temple.....
As always, great work on this video, guys!
FFX was also advertised loads on Battlebots back in the day
FFX will probably always be the closest RPG to my heart. If I could live in Spira I would.
One of the only times I've ever seen a video on UA-cam claiming to reveal facts that I did not aleeady know, and it was actually true. Well done.
What was the background piano track you used in this video? During the 'Play Online" section.
"There had always been a notion of character levels, and these would increase by gaining experience."
Final Fantasy II: "Am I a joke to you?"
which version of the battle theme in 4:30 is that i cant find it anywhere
Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts were iconic when they came out was such a good time for video games last time that I can remember having to fight with myself over what game I wanted to play because there were just too many options

Ff10,ff12,ff9, and ff7 are my favorites. More facts please!

2. Didnt know that there even was a proper spira-alphabet
3. Didnt know about the WWF ads
4. Knew, but had forgotten

I find it quite cool that they made the FF 10 game online it's like having FF 11 in their time and also I really thought you were going to release a FF7 story or something because of their anniversary haha and we need more facts about FF series haha
That tattoo system is so cool. Hope they implement it somewhere. It adds layer lore-wise and character customization.
There's something i love so much about the sphere grid and the freedom it gives
My favorite game. It never gets old. It really is a masterpiece
Thank you. I didn't know any of this. It's always fascinating when you play a game as seamless as FFX and hear the struggles of development.
As both a wrestling and Final Fantasy fan, that FF10/10-2 and WWE PPV crossover promotion is still one of the most hilarious/satisfying moments I’ve watched 😄😆
I want more facts, spira is a wonderful place!
Blitzball will always be the best mini game in a FF game.
Sick.
Truly a masterpiece of a game. I played this as a teen like many people did and it left an indelible impression on me as a result.
I still remember getting up and going into town super early to get a PS2 and ffx.haha ended up calling in sick to work that day and spent all day playing the game.
The tattoo system is why Yunas back is exposed. It’s really cool to see how some ideas were scrapped but parts of it remain in design

My favorite part was being able to use the aeons in battle such a cool experience as a kid.
FFX was the best ever! So much depth, the battle mechanics were amazing, and great graphics for the time
Tidus and Jecht originally being scrappy plumbers in spira was an interesting jumping off point
