Honestly, the opening. It was my first ff at the time. I had seen my friends play 7,8, and 9 but wasnt really digging it. But the opening with Ramstein got me entranced.
FFX is one of the few Final Fantasy games I actually beat as a kid. I went through the whole game, fought BFA and my aeons and was really heartbroken when Yuna and Tidus realized they couldn't be together. I have watched so many speedruns of this game and I still get choked up there at the end. I love this game. Thank you for doing this story summary.
I finally got around to playing ffx on the switch last year. I always heard great things about the game, but I didn't care much for it. I don't know why I didn't like it. Watching this video and hearing the story was enjoyable, but I couldn't say the same about playing the game.
@@briguy9915 Well just dontnplay any of the games after X. 11 and 14 are MMORPGs, 12,13, and 15 are absolute garbage outside of their storylines. 1 - 6 no one remembers because of how old they are. So all the love goes to 7 -9 which is cool, but X hadnits moments too
I miss being a kid, waking up early in the morning and just playing rpg games like final fantasy, so peaceful, no social media, no bills to pay, you have no money but you’re just happy.
Facts, good times. These games took me to a different world and immersed me in it. I imagined my self being the protagonist and saving the world. It’s strange, I don’t get the same feeling as I fid back then playing these games.
Really feel like FFX doesn't get enough praise. Story wise it's INCREDIBLE - a real fantasy tale. The characters are so well written and developed throughout the game. Top 3 FF for me!!
@@BasedRoots the pacing and voice acting are brutal. There is so much time between plot points that you forget small details and miss how event are connected.
I kind of disagree there, because negative feelings are IIRC what cause unsent to turn into fiends, and Auron never seemed anywhere near knocking on that door. He's snarky, but not outright dark. I think his duty to Jecht and Braska was his true motivation. Yunalesca was just a symptom of a corrupt system he wanted to destroy.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought this. At first I didn't understand why he was so adamant about pushing Yuna to complete the pilgrimage when he knew what awaited her at the end. But when the truth was revealed about the final summoning it all made sense. Surely keeping his promise to his old friends was a big part of what kept him, but if that was all then he would've kept them from making the journey to try and prevent them from making what he knew was a pointless sacrifice. But he pushed them to make the journey because he believed that if they made the journey to the end and saw with their own eyes about the truth behind their parents' sacrifice (brusca and jecht's) just as he had, they would also turn on yevon and yunalesca and thus break the cycle of the endless pointless sacrifices. That was Auron's ultimate goal, because he tried to do it on his own and failed, but he couldn't move on until he saw to the end of it.
Not to disparage this game, I love it too, but you should definitely consider giving Radiant Historia a look; one of the best stories in games I've ever seen
2:40, notable that Yunalesca wasn't just a survivor of Zanarkand. She was Yu Yevon's daughter and entrusted with the methodology to summon the final aeon and defeat Sin.
U missed a detail about Tidus' mother. That she cared a lot more about Jecht than him. In fact...she's a groupy of Jecht. Yet Tidus never noticed this fact, and always sides with his mom. Even though Jecht always puts Tidus well being above his wife's.
Late reply, but there is a scene when Tidus talk to Yuna about his mother, and says that a reason he hates his dad is also because when his was around, his mother barely look at him. He even admits that his father cared about him at this moment. It's happening in a flashback where young Tidus ask his mother for attention, and his mother dismissed him, then Jecht says to her to go check him out
@@LysFlowerful was watching a retrospective video yesterday and was arguing about this with someone for a while who said something like. At the end Tidus forgives his abusive father. I was like. They never really tell you he’s abusive. They only show a few short actual memories and Tidus says why he hates him and it’s all whining BS. The rest is in Tidus’ head or in dreams and it’s already well established he hates him. Turns out I was just “excusing child abuse” and didn’t just have a different perspective to think about. Lol.
@@luckysniper1659 Yeah, while i don't think Jecht was a great dad / person and his Spira trip really changed him, I don't think he was really abusive too.
Honestly, at the end of it all, it feels like jecht was trying to overcompensate tough love. Whether that was due in part to his wife being a bit negligent to his son is up to interpretation. I don't think jecht is the kind of person to read that much into things.
That high five at the end with his father was showing that he did his father proud. As we all know, his father was a victim of that corrupt system when he became the final aeon under Braska and the new Sin. It took a lot of bravery for Tidus and Yuna to completely demolish that system, even if it resulted in being traitors of Yevon and people attacking them. They didn't want any more people to perish in such a futile way.
@@readerrabbit6690 I've heard the story is really bloated and the game is too easy. I've also heard it's the best ff game. What are your thoughts on the criticisms it has garnered?
@@j-rey- erm 6 has a really incredible story, great ost, amazing characters and development and its got a crazy amount of espers (summons) all the characters have their own specific abilities which was really cool. Sabins a monk, shadow the ninja, edgar who can use tools like a pnumatic drill 😂 cyan a bushido master. Its not crazy long either. I think i got to level 99 with every character by 30hrs but this was having played it before. Kefka is a brilliant main bad guy too 🤡
as a teen, i found Tidus to be VERY annoying but now, as an adult i think he is among the best of the heroes, not the most powerful but certainly the bravest, he did not know he would come back, doesn't say a word of his fate and gives his life to stop the cycle. "i know its selfish, but this is my story!" no dude, not selfish at all.
Tidus is one of the best characters in my opinion. His character development not only shows growth and strength, it also shows how compassionate humans can be for another. Also the scene with him and yuna laughing in Luca was something i didnt understand till i was older and its moments like these that really show how much each character interaction shapes their lives.
The game made me feel like I was part of their journey and pilgrimage. The uncertainty of going against the tradition, finding another way to defeat sin, and the absolute heartbreak of sending off your aeons, auron and tidus 😭
I haven't played this in years and just the brief synopsis of the end scene where Tidus is fading was enough to bring me to tears. What an amazing game. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
There is this youtuber called Phoenix and he has an overpowered walk through. In it you get holy extremely early on the cat guy and it can one shot him.
I just want to speak on an idea. Square enix should make a prequel to Final Fantasy 10 based off of the story between Auron Jecht and Braska. I feel it would make sense even though we know the story they should tell a good story and get into detail of why it had to be Yuna and we understand fully for ourselves why things turned out the way it did you know why Braska chose the pilgrimage how he and Auron and jecht met and give us a glimpse of what YU YEVON physical body looked like. Braska Auron and Jechts adventure and their experience before they met each other. It would be 🔥🔥🔥
I think this would fall into the same trap as Star Wars: Rogue One - it's an important piece of storytelling... but aside from little details here and there... we know how it ends, so it's hard to really get up for it... especially playing it as a game. At least with the movie, you can be surprised some in how they got to the ending you knew was coming... but with Braska's Pilgrimage, we not only know how it ends, but we also know a lot of those same "little details" as they happened along the way already... so, you're either making a game that's tells a story that's already been told, or you end up retconning something that has been part of the series' lore for over 20 years now. That's a no-win situation.
What they don't tell you, is that the final scene of Tidus swimming to the light source at the end is the true ending of FFX-2 where Yuna makes a deal with the Fayth to bring him back, and if you haven't played it, it's seriously one of the most uplifting and amazing endings of any stories. This is why there will be eventually a FFX-3 as confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura, once they finish FF7 Remake
Have you played X-2 Last Mission? I dont know if that is canonic but if is, yuna and tidus isnt together anymore. Yuna even tell riku that she meets a new guy
i got this game at 8 years old i remember playing it over and over to no avail because i never had a memory card for some reason. i came back to it as a teenager and i finally had a memory card, it still took me a 2 year span to beat and it felt like the most rewarding thing ever because the story and ending is the most capitvating thing out of any video game i have ever played. I cried then during the ending and i still cry now over 15 years later. i dont think any other game has ever had this impact and it goes to show how amazing the story, messages and symbols really are. Truly a masterpiece
i never got to beat it myself also cause uncles always took over and played thru without me. i am now 28, and just got this game a week ago, and im determined to actually beat it. Turn based strategy wasnt my strong suit at that young age. Now i grind before heading thru the story lol
I played this game with my brother when I was 8 or 9. At that time I didn't understand anything about the story, I was just having fun helping him to gain XP by fighting. Now, more than a decade later when I look back at old memories, FFX came to mind. Knowing the full story just unlocks a whole new level of appreciation towards the game. Genuinely, thank you for making this story summary. Amazing video, really appreciate your work :)
I remember being incredibly touched by Tidus' relationship with his father. For a long time I felt abandoned by and estranged to my father, and hated him for it. 2 decades, later I'm married and face all kinds of problems together with my wife and can so much better relate to Tidus' feelings for Yuna, and the struggle the 2 of them face, and their tragic end (ignoring ffx-2 for a moment) hits a lot closer to home.
The two most memorable moments for me when I first played FFX, was the kiss between Tidus and Yuna and the scene of them around the campfire before embarking through Zanarkand. The song during that whole cutscene of them in the water was too damn beautiful and the graphics was so romantic and touching to match the mood. It was a legit fairytale like scene for me. For the campfire scene ,I saw my brother start a playthrough and this is what caught my attention to the game. When I first got there, my whole thought process was, "I'm finally here! The scene that starts this story!" I was so overwhelmed with emotions to finally get to that point that I saw at the beginning. Because the music was what drew me into the game in the first place. And when I first saw the Heroine, Yuna, she was beautiful. I even ordered a cosplay of Yuna that I wear to conventions because she's still my first love for console games.
My dad used to play this on PS2 back in the early 2000's, and my sister's and I watched him and we'd ask him questions about the game. He named all the aeons after us and (I was Ifrit) other members of our family. I tried my hand at playing (I was maybe 11 or 12) and couldn't get past Seymour (the first battle) so I never got to beat the game myself. But hearing the music unlocked tons of memories.
Dream Zanarkand is not fake its just the Memory of the Fayth. As Bahamut says "We wished to preserve Zanakrand even if only in a memory. So the Fayth summoned the memories of the people and buildings who lived there." So everyone in Dream Zanarkand was once alive. Thats why Tidus mom is in the Farplane.
And the fayth were created to battle against sin, which started the tradition of summoners pilgramage. According to the game. Sin wasn't protecting anything it was only destroying and the fayth/aeons were an attempt to stop the calamity. The cycle would continue as long as summoners went on the pilgramage, gathered the aeons and would sacrifice themselves to call the final aeon to defeat sin. That's why when the fayth stop dreaming and are released from their vessels the cycle of sin must end as well, along with dream of the old Zanarkand they upheld. Because no final aeon means no new sin.
@@waterchild_2310 I think you played the game but didn't listen to well. Cause SIN was SUMMONED to fight the Mecha Army. The Yu Yevon made sure summoning arts survived by making a way to stop SIN that also reseeded SIN at the same time. That how it became a religion.
Same here. When i've seen the ending the first time tears started falling and i was like "what the f*? It's a game. Why am i related to it like this?" Today i know: It's one of the best told stories in videogame history and i was and am glad, to been part of it in some way. Even now, after so many years, watching this video and seeing Tidus vanishing, all these emotions came back and there's the one or another tear falling. Thank you SquareEnix for this masterpiece.
@@sudl5346 I completely agree! FFX has always been my favourite game and I play it through fully at least once a year. Something about it is so truly special.
I just played FFX for the first time and I was blown away. It has some of the most stunning FMV cutscenes I've ever seen, and they still hold up today. The underwater date scene will be stuck in my head for the rest of my life. Amazing that they created this masterpiece in 2001.
My favourite part was the confrontation with Yunalesca before they fight her. When Yuna decided to bravely end the cycle of suffering setup to last forever instead of consenting to let it continue I fell in love who her. To live with your pain and be free instead of giving up, to do the things nobody else will; risking self-harm to free others in enslavement. That is the definition of valour. These characters should be our role models. There is something to eerily familiar about this scene, in some non-literal context I always felt it is representing a higher truth about our reality that our philosophies and religions have glimpsed at.
one of if not the best RPG ive played in my childhood. I recently watched an 11hr clip someone also made on youtube and it bought back memories. An eternal classic game for sure.
Final fantasy 7 and final fantasy 10 are just in a league of their own. I was captivated and so invested in 10’s storyline I literally could NOT put the controller down. I even had my aunt and all my cousins watching me play on surround sound the story was that good 😭
My favorite moment in this game was Yunalesca meeting and more specifically Auron's speech on to live on and fight your sorrows. That hit hard to me and made me love this game more than the other FF games.
For me, the most memorable moment was the meeting and fight with Yunalesca. It brought for me a very intense sensation of the unsureness in beaking the tradition, even though they are already convinced that it is for the best.
I loved the Yunalesca fight. Granted I have not fought against her since the game first came out (I actually got it a week before release, thanks Amazon Pre Order), but it was the most difficult fight in the game for me.
I can recite the meeting Yunalesca cut scene word for word, mainly because it was also the hardest battle to win. Great scene though. Despite being forced to watch it hundreds of times, I have since watched it many more.
I'm not ashamed to say Auron's speech gave me goosebumps every time. And the way everyone agreed they were going to see it through. And yes I had watched that speech at least a good six or seven times before I beat Yunalesca. I ended up getting all my Aeons to Overdrive before the battle and beating Yunalesca's third form by using each Overdrive one right after the other (as turns would allow).
Basically she would annihilate your whole party if you weren't under the zombie effect during her Medusa form. I'm sure that caught a lot of players off guard.
Yeah, the fight is very tricky. You might think the best way is to protect yourself against zombie, but the easiest way for me is to allow her to zombie me, then Bahamuth her straight into the third phase.
Just beat the game for the first time last night! Had such a blast playing through this adventure, the next step will be doing all the side quests. This vid definitely helped me understand some of the more complex parts of the lore, thank you!
This is my favorite ff game. I've played it more than any other with an exception to ff6. It was one of the best turn based games of its time and the graphics, the story, the characters all of it kept me interested for more than a decade now. I've bought it on multiple consoles. Thanks for the vid. It was very well done. I even learned somethings I hadn't put together.
That would be a painful and depressing ending to that story. You would have to witness Braska die while summoning Jecht as the final aeon and Jecht transforming into Sin.
Every time i beat the game i cry like a baby 20+ years later such a sad ending but i adore FFX with all my heart i beat it 10 times in this year of 2022 my #1 fav FF title
Oh my god. Thank you for doing this! I never truly understood the story when I played through it as a kid, and now, as an adult with less free time, I haven't had the chance to replay the story. Thanks to you, however, I don't need to anymore, and yet I can still piece together the final story of FFX. Thank you so much! I hope you do this for FFX-2 as well!
@@Xygor i have not played in a few years. I recently bought a ps2 and i also bought ffx and ffxii. I also bought ffx hd for ps3. Hopefully i will have some to sit back and enjoy them in the near future. Can't let you have all the fun. 🤣 🤣
I cried more times than i should in this video. The best Final Fantasy in my humble opinion, the story is just too imersive, ill play it again soon, thanks for the awesome video!!
I did too. I was so attached to everyone in this story when I first played the game as a young person. Everyone in this story made unimaginable sacrifices to have peace in the world. They gave up the belief system that gave them certainty, faced the terrifying unknown, culminating in destroying what they once worshiped as God. The soundtrack greatly supplements the feeling of meaning in the story. It's hard not to shed tears.
@@jebediahkerman8245 Yes, that's what I'm talking about, every main character in the story feels deep and heavy, everyone made the sacrifices necessary for the mission to continue, I stopped at 90-95% of the game a few times just because I didn't want the game to end, it's truly the Final Fantasy for me.
Man I love FFX's story, nothing seems to compare for me and I'm not sure why. Can anyone else recommend a JRPG with a story as good as this one? Lately it feels as though we're going a little too crazy with the storytelling and it's becoming confusing just for the sake of seeming deep. FFX was the last time I remember a story getting kind of wacky while still making sense and not becoming wacky for the sake of subverting expectations.
Most incredible moment in FFX? Auron tells the universe and destiny what time it is. Nothing even comes close to it. "NOW! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die here and be free from pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!" Still stirs my spirit hearing the hidden hero of Spira defy the injustice of his and his brothers' own mortality AND the immorality of the immortals to reshape the fate of the cosmos.
Best breakdown to date! I have loved FFX and put so many hours into it (yet only beaten it 2 times once on PS2 and then PC I loved to 100% this game and that takes hours) yet was still a bit confused by parts of the story. You have cleared those up so well and I thank you.
Wonderful. Absolutely wonderful. Ffx is my fav game, for so many reasons, but the most important one is that tidus is my fav character, i can't choose a most memorable moment because it felt completely wonderful, every moment was memorable! Amazing vid, thank you for bringing me such splendid memories and also, i wish everyone reading this a beautiful day!
This is quite possibly the best video I have ever seen about this game from years ago. Thank you for making it. When this came out it was a revolution in storytelling for games, the way you have retold the tale in a way of explanation for a recap helped me remember why I loved the story of this amazing story.
I always love how when you play a Final Fantasy game for the first time, you have no idea what is going on, but when you play them again you really understand the story. Thanks king, these videos are always top tier.
Thanks for not forgetting this game that was a bigger part of my childhood than you could possibly imagine. I honestly hate the way it makes me feel. I wish I never played it tbh. Nothing has ever made me feel the same. 31 yrs old now and four kids and a wife. Great video
Everytime I replay FFX, it's always the first time Besaid Island plays as a soundtrack that I get the most nostalgic, and it's exciting cause it's so early. It's also immediately around the time Yuna's Theme song plays on the beach before you set out to the tournament.
Most memorable moments.. it's hard to say because this entire game is just wonderful. The story has always pulled at my heart, and I still find myself feeling some way at the conclusion of your video.
One of the most amazing things about this game is that it doesn't really have a main villain to move the story along because Seymour, Yu Yevon, Yunalesca and the corrupt masters are really just victims of circumstance. The cycle of Sin only repeats because the state of people allow for it.
Tromell is the main villain😂 that guy was cleaning up after Seymour non stop even tho he knew he wanted to destroy spira. Yuna should let the Ronsos take his head in ffx2.
I hadn’t played this game until 2020 when I picked up the remastered version on Switch. The most memorable moment for me was when I ran into Valefor’s dark aeon accidentally while putting off beating the game. It was completely unexpected and it completely wipe the floor with me. From a story perspective, the moment that Tidus touches the wall of Fayth and goes to team Zanarkand. It was the moment for me when all the puzzle pieces finally began to fit together. Such a great game. In my top 5 favorite Final Fantasy titles. Possibly in my top 3.
The cutscene where the team is sliding down the clamp tethers, avoiding the gunfire from the Yevon troops, oh man just a masterpiece. The ship flying in, dropping the clamps, the descent to the ground floor from the ship, all of it. I will say, i wish you touched more on how much of a shock it was to find the yevon forces ppenly using machina against the Gaurdians. It really does change the way you think about that faction completely. Yea, we are given hints and tidbits throughout the game up until this point that not evertging is as it seems, but to me, for them to openly to defy basically their biggest and most important teaching, the complete ban and outright disgust for machina and what it brings with it, Sin. Really turns the whole good guy/bad guys aspect on its head. Great video though man i loved it! Not a complaint, just wanted to add to that part, give more of a explaination of why it was such a shock and important part of the game, that specific marriage / rescue scene.
Final Fantasy X is my second favorite to IX. I remember being a teenager, I played this religiously. Reached the 999:999:999 timer in game just to 100% this game for my first try. Then internet became normal and this was remastered at vita, ps3/4. I platinum this game for only 100hrs. FFX is one of my teenage games that opened up my mind about JRPG games.
I love the story from this game. All the little touches really add up. Like when Tidus realizes that the summoner dies after confronting sin, and he suddenly feels guilty for all the times he encouraged Yuna to complete her pilgrimage... such a good game. I've spent close to 300 hours on a few play throughs so far, and I can promise I'll play it again. Cannot promise I'll grind for the dark aeons again next time lol but we'll see.
Oh God, I forgot that scene where Tidus and Yuna force themselves to laugh, and it sounds so bizarre that the rest of the party think they're crazy lol. Such a cute game, can't say enough good about it. And then Yuna uses the Brotherhood sword in X-2 (not my favorite game but has some cute moments), really warms my frozen heart to remember the little things.
I love your videos dude you deserve way more subs. I hope you'll make a complete story of Final Fantasy Tactics one day. There's not enough content on here about this masterpiece
Man this brought back memories. I bawled like a baby at the ending first time through. This was the first FF game I finished. I’ve gone through this game the most of any of them that I’ve played (with 9 being the second most played)
wow i really enjoyed watching this. this was my all time favorite game. havent played in over 20 years. you made so many memories come back to me. i even cried once again when i saw yuna run thru tidus. very touching. i wish they would keep the story alive and make a new game. i never got around to finishing x-2....but anyways. GREAT STORY TELLING
Part of me was hoping it would include a little part of X-2 but then I realized how long the video was...amazing video as always cant wait for the next one! Side note if you like crazy stories take a look at .Hack
My first playthrough, eleven year old me didn't know about the sphere grid. I got to the moonflow and the boss battle after Yuna falls off the shoopuf was impossible for me to beat. Gave up for awhile, then started a new game and realized I skipped the tutorial in the beginning. Once I figured that out, it was nothing but addiction to the game. What's even crazier is as much as I loved the story, I was having a blast playing Blitzball. 700 hours of game-time on my first save and 300 of it was blitz. Hands down my favorite FF and I can't wait to see what XVI gives us.
How is it even possible to skip the tutorial? You have to talk to Rikku on the ship to trigger the flag to continue the game and she automatically goes into the sphere grid tutorial.
Fantastic summary of the story. There are so many heart wrenching moments. My favorite is either acquiring Anima (Seymour's mother) or when Yuna finally tells Tidus she loves him 😭closely followed by dispatching Yunalesca!
This game was my first game on ps 2 it was the biggest part of my teen years I am now 32 years old when I was 18 I was in and out of jail 1 time I really screwed up and I was in county for a year during that time I wrote a book about this game word for word everything that happened and everything that was said when I was finally released from jail I replayed the game to make sure I didn’t miss a thing and I didn’t skip a single thing that happened or anything thing they said in the game
This Final Fantasy got me wrapped up into the story more than any other FF could! It's tough to watch the ending to this day without...😭 and the Brotherhood is still the best aesthetic sword of all time! Seymour Flux and Yunalesca are still one of the most notorious main story boss difficulty spikes ever in anyone's first playthrough. Also hope we can play blitzball in our lifetimes. Breathable water in a dome doesn't seem to far fetched at this point and the rate technology is moving.
Heartbreak aside, I feel we must all remember the true iconic moment of this game - The laugh of Tidus and he tries to cheer Yuna up, man.. as quirky as that scene was, my god was it heart warming
Great video as always man I get excited when there long videos, I still got my fingers crossed you will do final fantasy tactics and breath of fire 3 baby!!!
Add, at the end, Yuna's whistling at the sea to summon Tidus, who hears her and returns! Thank you, the story was well done! (My favorite character is Auron)
hey dude, no need to put 14 ads in your video. this is exactly what i use ad block extensions for. whether or not doing that violates terms and conditions, is ultimately up to google, but getting interrupted times 14 with ads within an hour is annoying. i understand you're trying to make your revenue here. i choose not to contribute. Yours was a perfect video to test it out on.
All these years and when Yuna falls through Tidus I still tear up! 😩😭 Such an incredible game and story!! Anyone have any cool speculations about what Tidus swimming up to the light means? Would love to hear some other ideas on what it means to everyone!
To this day I find the discovery of Rikkus eye color / Yuna being half al-bhed very impactful. As an adult, it’s such a simple concept As a kid it was a really powerful message and this game was such a big part of my childhood
Thank you for this video, you answered a lot of my burning questions I have held about this game. To pick out a moment from the game that sticks with me though...it is going to have to be when the heavy metal music started playing during the boss fight with Jecht. Not only does that song get me pumped in general, it always brings a huge smile to my face when I see Jecht climb up as it plays. Such a badass moment to me!
Thank you so much for doing this. I just beat the game yesterday, and your explanation answered all the confusion and questions I had. Please keep doing what you are doing! I love your videos!
Tidus is best protagonist of all times in FF series. He knew that he was going down to the path of death, and he still went ahead to help the group out. If you put youself in his shoes, he was going from a comfortable / famous life to a nobody struggling to survive everyday, not only that, having to destroy his own home Dream Zanarkand, and also kill his own father/Sin/himself. Thats hella lot of pain he went through, and no one really comforted him. But he was so positive throughout the journey and gave hope to Yuna and the group. He gave lots of comfort to Yuna when she was down. He is such a selfless person and deserve to became a high god in after life or Farplane. Now I'm just making up the last part. But my point is he is a true hero! Btw, FFX is so good and original and nothing can beat it!! FFX-2 seems like a totally different story, it is almost like someone else wrote it. Yuna (FFX-2) seems to be another person and even dress very differently... I like the original Yuna from FFX, very strong and loyal. Love her clothing style!
It’s almost like the experience of defeating sin and losing the man she loved changed her.. hard to believe someone would experience something so dramatic and change.

I agree, it's a truly great track!
Although it is a very good song, i believe donkey kong has the best music.
Donkey kong sucks.
You know what you suck!
I agree
Mine is Besaid. I just love the whole track with the piano.
I know Auron carried his duty to look over Tidus and Yuna but a part of me feels him getting revenge on Yunalesca was the thing that kept him going.
He’s too awesome not to love.
Great take. I also always thought his revenge matched his loyalty to looking after Tidus.
Nah def not. He was defeated and he never once lost his cool. If it was vengeance he could have gotten that long before heading back to Zanarkand.

They didn't want any more people to perish in such a futile way.
yuna refusing to let tidus go and running through him is one of the saddest moments i've ever seen in video games

as a teen, i found Tidus to be VERY annoying but now, as an adult i think he is among the best of the heroes, not the most powerful but certainly the bravest, he did not know he would come back, doesn't say a word of his fate and gives his life to stop the cycle.
"i know its selfish, but this is my story!" no dude, not selfish at all.
He is a very human character. Definetly up as far as jrpg main boys are concerned

Tidus is one of the best characters in my opinion. His character development not only shows growth and strength, it also shows how compassionate humans can be for another. Also the scene with him and yuna laughing in Luca was something i didnt understand till i was older and its moments like these that really show how much each character interaction shapes their lives.
Yes. Throughout the game he’s terrible at keeping secrets he is told to, but he keeps the one about his fate.
The game made me feel like I was part of their journey and pilgrimage. The uncertainty of going against the tradition, finding another way to defeat sin, and the absolute heartbreak of sending off your aeons, auron and tidus 😭

@Wirr Ling every woke film tries to shove it's wokeness into your face rather than concentrate on character development and story building.
They tried pushing it a few years after it's release w/ Heath Ledgers as Tidus...

He's such a pest. It's like bro, how many times do we have to kill you before you stay dead? You're not even a necessary part of this story.
His final battle is a joke because you can simply element proof yourself because you know which attack is coming.
Yes, so many fights with that troll! Haha.
As a kid I was stuck on the one at the end of gagazet for months
I hope so...
Have you played X-2 Last Mission? I dont know if that is canonic but if is, yuna and tidus isnt together anymore. Yuna even tell riku that she meets a new guy

I cried then during the ending and i still cry now over 15 years later. i dont think any other game has ever had this impact and it goes to show how amazing the story, messages and symbols really are. Truly a masterpiece
Right on! Thanks for sharing your memories...lots of emotional moments for sure.
i never got to beat it myself also cause uncles always took over and played thru without me. i am now 28, and just got this game a week ago, and im determined to actually beat it.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
I remember being incredibly touched by Tidus' relationship with his father. For a long time I felt abandoned by and estranged to my father, and hated him for it.
2 decades, later I'm married and face all kinds of problems together with my wife and can so much better relate to Tidus' feelings for Yuna, and the struggle the 2 of them face, and their tragic end (ignoring ffx-2 for a moment) hits a lot closer to home.
Yes, great part of the story!
I appreciate your memories!
YES!! This was my interpretation of it.
Fair points!
I absolutely love this game. The ending always gets me, and it continues to be the only game to make me cry.
Same here. When i've seen the ending the first time tears started falling and i was like "what the f*? It's a game. Why am i related to it like this?"
Today i know: It's one of the best told stories in videogame history and i was and am glad, to been part of it in some way.
Even now, after so many years, watching this video and seeing Tidus vanishing, all these emotions came back and there's the one or another tear falling.

Yes, that was a great part!

What a missed opportunity that they never green-lit a prequel of this game. Imagine going through Spira as Jecht, on Braska's pilgrimage.

The soundtrack greatly supplements the feeling of meaning in the story. It's hard not to shed tears.

Most memorable moments.. it's hard to say because this entire game is just wonderful. The story has always pulled at my heart, and I still find myself feeling some way at the conclusion of your video.
It really is!
One of the most amazing things about this game is that it doesn't really have a main villain to move the story along because Seymour, Yu Yevon, Yunalesca and the corrupt masters are really just victims of circumstance. The cycle of Sin only repeats because the state of people allow for it.
True!
The dark aeon that really made me run away quickly was Yojimbo. "Hell no am I fighting him. He'll annihilate me!" I took off from that cave quickly!
Thank you for sharing this great story memory!
I literally finished watching a speedrun of this game yesterday. Thanks for making this video King.
Thanks for watching it!
I get choked up every time I think about this game or listen to its music. Fantastic video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Watching this makes me want to replay this game again. Thanks for explaining everything.
Any time!
“….he transforms into Seymour Flux..”
*Unyielding rage rising*
Final Fantasy X is my second favorite to IX. I remember being a teenager, I played this religiously. Reached the 999:999:999 timer in game just to 100% this game for my first try.
Then internet became normal and this was remastered at vita, ps3/4. I platinum this game for only 100hrs.
FFX is one of my teenage games that opened up my mind about JRPG games.
Thanks for your memories of the game!
This is probably the best game from the era of gaming.
Lol wut
Metal gear and legend of dragoon are good contenders.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Yep, so good! Thanks for sharing your memories here.
I love your videos dude you deserve way more subs. I hope you'll make a complete story of Final Fantasy Tactics one day. There's not enough content on here about this masterpiece
I plan to eventually!
I agree. That would probably be a 3 hour video. That story is nutso.
My two favored possessions are my copies of Final Fantasy Tactics and Suikoden 2.
Sin is one of the best and most underrated video game villains ever.
truly a unique and interesting villain just because of the lore on it
He really was!
Man this brought back memories. I bawled like a baby at the ending first time through. This was the first FF game I finished. I’ve gone through this game the most of any of them that I’ve played (with 9 being the second most played)
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
@@Xygor I have not. I plan to in the future once I get the physical release for switch imported!
Seymour had a point: being a ghost in spira is better than being living.
What an amazing story! I absolutely loved FFX. Thanks for the full summary 👍🏽
Glad you enjoyed it!
wow i really enjoyed watching this. this was my all time favorite game. havent played in over 20 years. you made so many memories come back to me. i even cried once again when i saw yuna run thru tidus. very touching. i wish they would keep the story alive and make a new game. i never got around to finishing x-2....but anyways. GREAT STORY TELLING
Glad you liked it!
What a beautiful summery. Revisiting this beautiful game through your youtube video brought tears to my eyes, Fantastic Job!!! ♥
Thank you!
This is one of those game stories I wish I had to the chance to play when I was younger. It really does stick with you.
It truly does. Timeless!
For all the dream/flashback sequences from Zenarkand or when Tidus is a child, the Bahamut fayth is present.
True, those were great moments!
I love all the final fantasy 7 movies and shorts on youtube. I've never played the game but I'm in love with the characters. Bring them all back!👍♥️♥️
They're great, aren't they?
Part of me was hoping it would include a little part of X-2 but then I realized how long the video was...amazing video as always cant wait for the next one!
Side note if you like crazy stories take a look at .Hack
Hope you enjoyed it!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Brings back old nostalgia memories. Ah, the good old days.
Hope you liked it!
I appreciate you sharing your memories!
The story was so convoluted in the game this made everything clear...looks like this is footage from the remastered version
Yep, it is.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
@@Xygor months ago, I’m obsessed with chained echoes at the moment. Have you played it? What do you think?
I have no theories but I too cried
To this day I find the discovery of Rikkus eye color / Yuna being half al-bhed very impactful. As an adult, it’s such a simple concept
As a kid it was a really powerful message and this game was such a big part of my childhood
Thanks for sharing this memory.
Glad to hear it! And thanks for the memories!

The fact that from 1997 to 2001... FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX released....
What a wonderful time.
Now we get half ass made games That take 4 years to make and 10 patches and 5 dlc's to complete
Thank you so much for doing this. I just beat the game yesterday, and your explanation answered all the confusion and questions I had. Please keep doing what you are doing! I love your videos!
Thanks for the feedback! Many more to come!
Great character but I think there are better protagonists!
It’s almost like the experience of defeating sin and losing the man she loved changed her.. hard to believe someone would experience something so dramatic and change.
Bro I’m stoked these are lit 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Been waiting for this one for a while!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
Using the actual music for each area was a very nice touch
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and the game! Have you played it lately?
As an islander, this felt just like home.
Fuck really? I need to move to an island.
Nice!
